We bought our precious caique here. They are great about letting you handle your bird for the first few months before they can come home with you.It makes a huge difference. Our bird is very bonded to us and a joy to own.Weve also called with questions here and there and the staff have always given helpful recommendations or pointed us to an Exotics vet when needed.

Very friendly staff when 20 mins before closing time they were very nice about it. So many lovely birds to see and I got to hold them and buy a beautiful sun conure baby. They are pricy $$$. BUT its worth it they take very good care of them, make a deposit and you can pay it off before you pick up your baby 👶.

They take really good care of birds here. The owner has taken birds that were abandoned by their owners and have given these birds a home. It is a bird sanctuary and a very nice place where birds are well cared. The baby birds are carefully hand fed and raised. We are looking for possibly owning a bird, but want to make sure we can live up to the commitment as these birds live a long time. In the meanwhile, this is a beautiful place for bird supplies and birds. It is not smelly like other bird stores.

Staff is very helpful and informative. They do board birds aswell. Building is clean and the cages are well kept..

We have bought two birds (green cheek and sun conure) from TC Feathers. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and is able to answer any question we have about our birds. We take them back often to have their wings and nails trimmed. Their food and supplies are a great price as well! The environment of the store is easy going and they make it stress free and fun to pick out a pet bird!Our sun conure was well trained when we picked him out. He was able to step up before we even brought him home!

Theyve been extremely kind and helpful to me.I was devastated after the loss of my six year old sun conure, but when I was ready to bring another bird home they introduced me to a sweet little surrendered dusky. Im so grateful to them for bringing Nox into my life!

Cant say enough great things about TC Feathers! Weve known that we wanted a bird for quite some time but had a difficult time really narrowing down the choice. From the very moment that you walk into TC Feathers, its a bird lovers paradise. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and willing to help out from the very moment that you walk into the location.I over heard one of the staff members today while we were there state to someone else that its a shame when you go to a store and cant really handle a bird or understand what youre getting and thats why many birds wind up here at our aviary as rescues and I couldnt agree more. I completely lost track of time and spent about 2 and a half hours there, searching, asking questions and enjoying the environment. In the end, we selected a baby Quaker Parrot. Thanks TC Feathers!

Most birds are for looks NOT SALE. Very deceiving. Thought I was going in to make a connection with a bird to purchase but NOPE. NO such luck... Constantly told oh that bird is staying here for now. So Im confused 😕 are they purely for breeding purposes? Then just say that...

I recommend getting a bird from here if you want one. the birds have a large area to play with, and you can come visit your bird if it isnt weaned yet. Forget about pet stores, this place is a thousand times better. also has a lotta bird supplies. 5/5 for me. ill write another review including my bird once its weaned, and home.

They are great. Got a baby conure there. Over the years, i have had 3 birds who were all skittish, and scared of new experiences. This was my first hand-raised bird.This little puffball from TC Feathers has been home less than a month, and she is incredibly intelligent, curious, and trusting of new people/foods. I attribute this to the staffs knowledge and care for the birds in their formative phase.My bird was already on a very healthy no-seed diet, bottle-trained, and only took her a couple days to step up without biting. Smart as a whip and loves to investigate/explore everything - as a bird should in my opinion.Every single member of the staff with whom i interacted was professional, polite, knowledgable -- from the most experienced, to the teenagers, they were all amazing and took the time to answer all my questions.I have my hands full at the moment, but if i ever was to adopt another bird friend, would only go to TC Feathers.

My Happy Place!

After doing a considerable amount of research, I decided to start my search for a hand raised baby Caique.As a first time bird owner, I had tons of questions- a lot that were answered throughout my research- but a lot of grey areas that different resources advised differently. That being said, the staff at TC Feathers was EXTREMELY helpful answering all of my questions and everyone I’d interacted with had decades of experience.Other aviaries I contacted were asking for a lot more money and I felt that TC’s was very well priced especially considering the level of care they give their birds. I’ve visited a few other bird specialty stores and left feeling sad because the birds just didn’t seem cared for in comparison to how well TC’s cares for their birds.10/10 will always recommend

I purchased a white cap pionus from them in 2018. From the very beginning there were discrepancies as to the behavior and health of the bird. I was in constant contact with the person I purchased him from in reference to this from day 1. I was told I could bring him back with no mention of a refund of any kind. However, I drove 4 hours to get him and bonded with him immediately. That was not an option. He has been diagnosed with borne virus which explains his behavioral issues, neurologic and digestive problems. It is very contagious. I only have 1 bird. Him. The vet says he had to have had it when I got him. I wonder if they are breeding not only birds but the virus as well. He also came DNA certified so blood was taken before I ever laid eyes on him.

I love this place. The care that the staff has for all birds (both the store birds and customers birds) is visible in the friendliness of the birds and the cleanliness of the store.The variety and quality of the merchandise is enough to justify the price tag, but then taking into account that they do rescues and that their services are cheaper than any place I know of, makes me happy to see my total.Whether you have a bird or just love birds in general, this is a store you wont want to pass.

Very good selection of birds perches, toys at different price points. Much more than pet stores. Additionally for different sizes of birds. The food is a very wide selection also. Many options for cages. The prices are moderate. However the selection and quantity and quality is worth it. They offer boarding. We got 2 small birds with DNA testing approximately 24 months ago. Our first birds. The staff was very helpful and calm through the process and after sale. It saved a few real expensive trips to avian vets. They have dealt with 1000s of birds.

I got to see one of the possible sun conures and even though it wasnt decided which one was mine the birds were just so cute, and I learned a lot while I was there!

I wish I could leave zero stars nonetheless, I will take the time to share my experience at this place.As soon and my husband and I walked in, nobody greeted or approached us. We went there with our 8 year old and walked around for 15mn. and were ignored the whole time. There were two women sitting at the cashier, who I believe were the owners when we tried to ask for help they didnt even made eye contact, therefore we just decided to leave.I believe we were racially profiled as some customers who came in after us were immediately greeted and helped. If you do not want to be profiled, DO NOT come to this place.I recommend you visit Parrots, Parrots, Parrots, just Parrots great customer service and wide variety of birds. This is the place were we decided to get our Quaker and are totally in love with.

I have been a customer for 6 years and have tried all the other bird stores with in a 150 mile radius. This is the best aviary in northern Virginia by far. Fully stocked with everything you need for your feathered friends. They treat all the birds and babies as if they were there own. The store is always so clean and well kept and very knowledgeable staff.

Great place to buy a bird. My wife got her white bellied caique here 10 years ago, and we still drop in regularly for boarding, grooming, and annual vaccinations. The staff are really great, friendly, and helpful.

So, I’m really torn about leaving this review.Yesterday 3/14, my family was visiting the garden center in purcellville, va. Inside, they had an amazing couple of super friendly, exotic, large birds. This got us interested in learning more, and possibly acquiring one, as we loved how friendly and sociable they were.Today 3/15, While running errands, I googled rare birds near me, found tc aviary, and we drove out.There were multiple employees standing about socializing with a customer.We walked for 10 minutes around the comparatively small shop without a greeting or assistance.At the grocery store or Buffalo Wild Wings, I don’t expect much. At a specialty store on a topic i am unfamiliar with, I expect a bit more, and at the least, a hello.I will spend my money elsewhere, as we are super interested in such an awesome addition to our family.Ps, I’m writing this from the bath and body works in Chantilly, and they are super friendly. I LOVE tc feathers sooooooo much! The staff is amazing and so kind with all of the info for the birds. I love that there’s a entire room just Full of birds! A few days ago I walked in just wanting to look at some birds and now I’m getting 2 birds in alittle bit. It’s a great place to visit if you love animals, there’s also always cats when I go which I think is really cool. It’s a great environment and I give 10/10 starts!

The staff is very helpful and the birds are sweet babies in my expierence as my Sun was curled up to me sleeping on the first day. They did clip her wings and I wish I could’ve gotten a say in it as I wanted to start indoor flight training and recall. She also had some barring on her wings (I’m guessing from the small cage and loud and a bit stressful environment?)

Loved this store! It was a long drive but ultimately worth it. I got my Cocktoos nails trimmed along with buying some toys for her. The employees were all really nice and gave me some help with something’s I couldn’t find answers for online. The parrots were all very well taken care of and all were filled with personality. I will definitely be headed back in a few months for another nail trim and more stuff for my bird :)

We got a Quaker parrot from them back in May. The whole process is very easy and they are very helpful with any questions you have. My bird is very sweet and was hand tame like he should have been. I definitely recommend djs aviary!

I love TC Feathers. I have been visiting and purchasing supplies for my two cockatiels from them for years. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and so friendly. The shop changed primary ownership late last year and I have seen a huge effort to make the place brighter, more welcoming , and really create a great space for the birds to grow and live (not that it wasnt before).I have not purchased a bird from them yet, I already have two from before I knew about TC, but my very close friends have bought 2 of their macaws from here and they are wonderful, healthy, well adjusted birds. Ive seen some negative reviews on here about the behavior of a bird they bought from TC and as a bird owner for over 16 years it sounds like the unhappy owner didnt know what they were doing and may have been way in over their head.Birds are a lifetime commitment, are incredibly smart, and adaptable. If you bird isnt behaving correctly its much like human kids--its on the parent. TC feathers sets you up for success and will support you in your ownership, what you do at your house with your bird is your business and your fault.

I feel like this place is nice but over priced. The only positive thing I can say is that they have bird supplies. It is very hard to find bird supplies in the area. The positive stops there im afraid.I have been in 3 times and was never once approached by a staff member to ask if I needed help. From what I have observed they are very nice to people who are buying birds from them. I was there for supplies, food, toys, etc. I have been in the bird room and the last time I was in over half the birds were missing most of their feathers. It was sad. I think they have too many birds and there is too much going on and the birds are stressed.I probably will not return and will go back to ordering my volkman food online. I can get toys for the same price or less from Amazon or petsmart. I want to love this place but I have never been welcomed and dont feel that my business is appreciated. I hate to not use small businesses whenever possible but this last time I left depressed because of the stressed out birds

For parrot aficionados, like myself, this is like coming home or finding a refuge from the trials and tribulations of the ordinary day. It is so pleasant to be there and our hosts, Tammy and Dave, are so nice and helpful. I bought my Blue-Front Amazon, Lola, there and now I feel like I am related to Dave and Tammy. I make a special trip to do my bird supply shopping only there as a justification for showing up so frequently. If they served food and drinks, I would never leave! I also will board Lola there if the entire family goes out-of-town. I would buy more parrots, if I thought it would be fair to Lola and, more importantly, if my wife would let me. After all we have a small, dog, two cats and one parrot, she say. I see her point, but parrots can be an affliction! ( as we aficionados know).

I wanted to wait a while before I wrote my review for DJ Feathers. I purchased a Scarlet Macaw that I named Shiva. When I put a deposit down I foolishly did not research the company and just based my expectations on what other customers had said about them,the first problemI had was I figured that they gave the customer an option to clip or not clip the wings (especially since they offer harness training) This was not the case! I asked them to refund my money and they replied saying that they would not clip the wings (PERIOD) but after I went ahead and put down the remaining 1,200.00 they then informed me that they wanted me to sign a contract making me liable for any injury or death in their store as a result of my bird being able to fly. I ended up refusing to sign that and not getting my money back, so I was stuck with only one option.... clip his wings. I am still sad to this day that I allowed them to clip his wings., it has stirred up a host of problems that I was not initially prepared for but alas I have adjusted. he on the other hand has not adjusted as well as I had hoped.now onto second problem...He is stunted! he has very little interest in any activity that a macaw should be showing interest in at this time. he is out with me almost all day and he simply sits around with his head hung down and appearing very depressed. i am slowly getting him into new things and he is slowly coming around.third problemthey kept him in the nursery too long and when i asked why he was in there still the reply i got was well we dont have anywhere on the floor to put him. we are out of cages!!!! i was told he would be put out on the floor as soon as one of the other macaws were sold. as a result of this i see very negative habits that have formed. he is somewhat fearful of perches and instead prefers to sit on the floor or bottom of the cage.fourth problemthey offer harness training but i do not see where he was trained AT ALL. when i first brought the harness out for him, he FREAKED! i have since been able to work with him and i can finally now get one on him.this last issue i had was with the conditions that their large birds are kept in. They are shoved into way too small cages and as a result have most of their feathers are extremely damaged! some had no tail feathers left!i think this shop should stick with smaller breeds of birds instead of worrying about making the big bucks with macaws. they do not have the space or hands to properly socialize these birds. i regret my purchase from them with all of my heart but i do love my baby and he will never live in conditions like that again!my vet was shocked at how dull and destroyed his feathers were when i brought him into her. but thankfully he was healthy, i am giving them 2 stars only because they do seem to do well with smaller birds, shop was clean, and they seem to be somewhat good people despite being very misguided on the care and housing of large macaws.

Great place! We drove 3+ hours each way to visit our baby girl African Grey in the weeks before she was old enough to go home. We couldnt ask for a better baby. Never in my life have i thought id have a bird that loves to cuddle as much as she does and she wants involvement in everything! At just under 5 months old she is doing great spitting out words left and right. I attribute it all to getting a loving start @ TC Feathers. Just wish you all were closer so we could visit all the other birds there.

Bought my Sun Conure here, he is GREAT health, bonded with me very quickly and they have me good advice on cage size. I bought my cage off Craigslist for $40 but it much bigger than needed. This place is great!
