Have been getting my pokemon boosters here for a little while now. Great store and friendly people but prices are starting to get high. Seeing products cheaper on ebay but I would rather go through a retailer.

Great place and great management! Always felt welcome and the environment provide for play is fantastic! Only downside is the prices. In my experience MTG and Pokemon singles are listed about 10-15% above TCGPlayer and Pokemon product is usually listed slightly above ebay prices (MTG product itself is priced very fairly). If you are desperate to open new stuff, youll have to pay a bit above scalper prices (10-15% again) but they will at least have stock because of this.

Really wondering if the owner is off his rocker? Was given a recommendation from a friend to check out their local watering hole Desert Skies. They had nothing but good things to say. Well my experience was quite contrary. The owner Scott is extremely rude and impersonal. I felt very uncomfortable discussing the price of the product. I may be blonde but I know when when things are overpriced. Some of his product is 300% marked up over retail asking price. The owner wants $370 for a UPC box that’s an additional $250 on top of them getting distributer prices. I don’t know about you but that’s insane! I shop local to support local. If local doesn’t want to support local well this business owner has made his opinion loud and clear.

This place is a wonderful nostalgia trip, the inventory is always top notch and the arcades are fun. I do have to knock a star off for a buyer beware: theyre selling Switch Lites for $220 and they retail $199 new. Some controllers are much more expensive then they should be as well. I understand theyre going up in value due to the pandemic, but everyone should know what they should pay for one and check out their competition before making a purchase. Otherwise, lovely store!

Ive spent close to a thousand dollars at this store. I tried to return 2 items, 3 days after purchasing them, and they said the prices are too volatile to accept returns. Id love to know how much the market has changed in 3 days. Sorry I bought something a changed my mind....what a joke. Definitely wont. Definitely wont be shopping here anymore, thats for sure.

Scalpers now own brick and mortar stores. I understand being a small buisness has it challenges and could even see a markup of 25% for in demand items but these people mark some of there pokemon products up 300%. If you have kids dont support this scummt behavior spend a little time every day checking target you will find stuff.

For the most part Everything was going good, until who I assumed is the owner started bragging to me about his market marked up prices on the Pokemon Cards and telling me it doesnt matter what its marked at it will sell, and just went on for a long few minutes about how much he loves Pokemon since it makes him so much money, The ego in this man was a massive turn off and since I didnt feel valued as a customer and just was another transaction Ill keep my money and spend it elsewhere, You can only ride the hype of this scalping shortage train for so long. I just think his ego got a little too big and he needs a check up.

My boyfriend told me awesome things about the old Desert Sky Games on Gilbert road, so we went to check out this location in Chandler. Me and my boyfriend walked into the store with his 5-year-old son. We both had our masks on, per the Arizona mandate. However, we have not been putting a mask on his son as the mandate is only for children over 6 years old, and we do not believe it is in the best interest for the health of a 5-year-old to have a mask on their face. This has never been an issue with any place we have walked into throughout this entire year of COVID. However, when we walked into Desert Sky Games, the employee behind the desk told us the child had to have a mask on. When we said we were uncomfortable with that, he was very rude and yelled Its the law at us and made us leave, which made my boyfriends son cry. First of all, masks are not a law, they are a proclamation/mandate. Second of all, even the proclamation/mandate specifically states that masks are only required for children over the age of 6. Overall, it was a very unpleasant experience and the employee was incredibly rude about the whole thing, especially considering us adults were wearing our masks. I will never be returning to this place again.

Desert Sky has a great selection of both new video game releases and retro games. Also, the staff is friendly and helpful!

This place is such a rip off for Pokemon cards. Instead of working like an actual store and price the cards at retail price, they do scalper prices. On top of that they are a lot more greedy than scalpers. Instead of doubling the price, they triple it. It may be hard to find Pokemon cards now, but you can find the same box sets for cheaper on offerup or fb market place. This place is a waste of time and an absolute rip off for Pokemon cards. Skip them and try your luck at a store that sells at retail price or just pay for a cheaper mark up on some apps. Never coming here again, such a dishonest place.

Had a negative experience buying a used game here.Was told by an employee that I can return a used game within three days of purchase so I went ahead and bought one. I played it for less than 30 minutes and realized the game wasnt for me. I took it right back to the store the next day.When trying to return it I got hassled. Was told by an employee that: not liking a game is not a valid reason to return, they arent there to help you sample games, and we arent a game rental store. The employee was snippy and the conversation felt confrontational.They did end up giving me an exception and accepted the return so thats nice. Thanks.Will not be returning.

Bought an Xbox one that broke 2 months later due to unknown power issues. The owners response and reaction was heart breaking. After denying a replacement or refund I wasnt to deal with 300 dollar loss. Worst than gamestop, this was my least favorite gaming experience in my life. Never going back.

Came here while visiting friends. The staff was nice. But our DnD game was real attention piece for us and a few roubds of MtG for a friend. We all had fun.Also the arcade games were a nice break from the usual card shops we know.

Bf comes here all the time for mtg related stuff. My first time and I thought an amazing card shop. They have arcade games and other merchandise! This is his preferred shop and I can see why. Staff was super friendly, store very clean

This store has been amazing and above and beyond with their customer service! The selection was so fantastic too! My friends and I stopped here from out of town and Im so glad we did! I absolutely recommend stopping in if youre into video games or table top!

The employees were absolutely pleasant, knew what they were talking about, and they have awesome arcade cabinets. Everything looked very clean and the selection of MTG stuff was stellar.

It was ok. They have old arcade games that eat your quarters. We notified the staff. The three of the employees argued over who had to check the game. One of them finally went over and reset the game, but did not offer us credit. My 11 year old son said he needed more quarters. I told my son that the quarters that the game ate were the last that I had. The store employee said have fun and walked off.

Really like this place. Good selection of tabletop, console, computer, card, and board games and accessories. They also have some used stuff. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to help you find what you are looking for.

Really cool. They have arcade machines that you can get tokens for and play. Plus theyre a card shop with all the other things that come with being a card shop.

They changed their offerings. Its all board games and used old school games. And pinball machines. Not a bad selection...just not what it used to be.

Feel like Im obligated to leave this review and hopefully save some people some money.The markup at this place is insane. You can find better deals at tons of other local game stores. Its worth noting, the employee I spoke with when I called didnt know the prices when i asked, i had to go to the website to find them.Just 1 example, on the Double Masters VIP edition preorder. They were charging $140!!this is a $100 product MAX. Several other local stores offered it for $100. That is a 40% markup. Plenty of online stores actually offer it dor as low as $85!Similarly, the normal Double Masters box is going for $350. You can find this EASILY for $300 and under at other stores. Do NOT encourage this kind of greed and markup by shopping here.

First of all, the staff are very helpful and nice. As a returning player, to D&D, I found their selection of manuals. Source material and dice quite extensive. I already joined in one game and found it as fun as I remember. Sadly, I will be giving them copious quantities of my money while I rebuild my collection. Well worth it if you ask me.

Fantastic place to buy all your video game needs. I just picked up a Wii for my kids to enjoy during this time of social distancing. My wife even loved the DDR game and pass I got for it. 10/10 would and will return. Staff if always friendly and professional.

I was super excited to visit this store becasue of social media hype. When I asked an employee a question he just shrugged and said I dont know. 1st, dont you work here mofo? 2nd, then go ask mofo! Items are way over priced! Save your time and money and shop elsewhere.

Big store, but a bit overpriced for me and for a game store they sure have some rude people working behind the counter. Pricing isnt as big of a deal since it would be supporting a LGS, but I felt like I was putting them out by asking to purchase some Magic cards. I was replied with We dont take card orders at the counter. (and just stared at me like I was supposed to know his next thought) I said okay, so how do I buy them then? I was then told that I have to go on the in-store computer and find it, which would be fine, but why be rude about it? I guess I was supposed to know this prior to coming in, my apologies...Like I said; big store, cool stuff, just be sure to not ask any of the employees for anything unless youre a regular. Seems they were having a great time with the customers they already knew sitting at the table closest to the counter. Maybe that was the issue; I had disturbed their conversation... Who knows? I will just keep going to the other local game stores where my money is more valued.

I drove here from Washington State with my buddies, the owners and employees were amaaaaaazing.They have a little bit of everything:Magic, DND, New Gen, Retro, Boardgames, Arcades.Everything is organized, clean, and just down right appeasing to the eye.Scored some awesome games for our collections and have enjoyed every minute we spent here.Can’t wait to come back even if it’s a year from now :)

In my opinion this is the best game store in the East Valley. Pretty limited selection of product bell all the essentials. Big focus on gaming tables and different games going on. Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons pretty much every night. Open late as well most weeknights.

Great place to play a wide variety of board, card or tabletop games. They have plenty of table space and chairs that are available to use. They also had a lot of high quality terrain for table top games and several tournament games going on. You can buy snacks and drinks at a reasonable price. They also have a nice selection of the games in stock and ready to roll. Staff was friendly and helpful.

On my first visit I arrived about an hour before they closed. I was looking for a particular board game. When I was approached by the staff they asked me the traditional Can I help you find anything today? And when I responded with the game I was looking for they pointed me at their aisle of board games declared they were organized in alphabetical order and promptly vanished. I was expecting them to at least offer to search for the game with me among the games that they have. If theyre stock is organized in alphabetical order it shouldnt be hard to take the extra step and help me search, and build that relationship with the customer. Maybe offer me other avenues I could purchase the game through them if it were possible. Or even direct me to their used game portion of the store (of which I eventually discovered on my own). Over all the staff didnt seem friendly or slightly motivated to help me beyond the bare minimum of asking that first question. Maybe it was just that time of day and the staff member was just wanting to go home? From the look of it this store is primarily focused towards MTG. If youre looking for anything else you may be disappointed in the reception like I was.

Pleasant atmosphere, very friendly staff. Much larger than expected with a huge selection of tabletop and tcg cards and gear, and even vintage video games. An entire corner dedicated to arcade cabinets and games. Easy to spend entire day here.

Excellent variety in their gaming. Video, board, card, miniature, etc. Lots of room to try out a new game or enter one of the many tourneys they host. The owners/operators are willing to talk shop or consider ordering product. Great shop.

I enjoy gaming here a lot. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, plus plenty of product selection. There is lots of table space for a variety of gaming from card games, role playing or just casual board games. Definitely a must visit for any geek in this part of the valley.

This place is great! The store is deceivingly large and their selection of cards is just as big! When you walk in you are greeted by accessories for your Magic collection as well as shelving full of all things nerd from video games to comic books, this place has it all.I came here for MTG cards, however and the kiosks they have available are quite convenient. During my visit, I was able to search their entire collection of magic cards, add them to a cart, and have a store clerk bring me all of my selections.They are very strict on the rating of their cards as well. On the kiosk they have ratings for the quality of the cards with NM (near mint) being the highest quality card. I was upset to find that most of the cards I wanted were not available in Near Mint, as I am quite picky about only selecting good quality items, and were mostly only available in lightly played. But I wanted the cards and they were reasonably priced so I bought them anyway. To my surprise, the cards they brought to me did not have any imperfections that I could find.I am very satisfied with my visit and will definitely be a customer in the future!

Decent place to meet friends and play board games. Or a place to meet strangers and play magic. Shop specializes in magic and magic like card games, so you can buy, trade, and play tournaments here. Soda and energy drinks for sale to keep the fun going. Otherwise very basic, but what more do you really need.

I purchased a new deckbox on Tuesday. Upon getting the deck home I eagerly attempted to put my Edgar Markov double sleeved commander deck into the box. The fit was incredibly tight to the point where it was difficult to pull the deck from the box once put in. I brought the product back to the store today in the hopes of making a return or exchange. The manager was rude and confrontational. Insisting he has no issues with the product. He tried to show the product was fine by putting in unsleeved cards and then a half sleeved deck. Still insisting the product was fine. We wont be back. I dont believe the customer is always right but no human being deserves to be treated how I was treated. I was very polite in explaining my problem and he immediately was on the defensive from the moment he walked up front to assist.

I went to the store on a Friday night. It was crowded at that time and the ability to browse the items in the store was poor at best. The store it self needed some degree of attention to cleaning. On the upside the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. They also have a decent variety of games and gaming swag. If the owners would make an effort to make the store feel like a business and not an overgrown club house I would give it five stars.

Went in looking for a PSP, came out with Pokémon cards, a new board game a monster energy drink and a psp. This place is awesome! Not only that, they follow the rules in place by the government. During covid 19, they closed as requested, and are now reopen and are putting customers first with safety. Great store, great staff, great product. Keep it up!

Everything Id hoped for and then some!

As a regular, I love this shop. I come and play Magic: the Gathering almost every day i have off. The community is kind and fun, and has one of the biggest community for the Commander format in MTG in the State, if not the biggest. Any day you come, oure likely to find friends to play Commander with from 12 to close. Best game shop in the Valley.

Nice gaming area. staff was friendly and helpful. glad to see a game store exsists this close. thought it was neat that they have a bunch of retro games and arcade machines. also a very cool mtg card dispenser.worth a stop if you are in the area. a lot of things from comics to games.

The store, products, and employees are amazing! Perfect one-stop-shop for card gaming needs and tons of offers to help you learn and grow as an individual player.My only complaint, the bathrooms. Ill leave it at that.

Prices are good on some areas and not so good some areas. I do there for some things like card protection. But I would never buy cards there because they are overpriced.

This is the best place in town to learn magic tricks! I went in the other day and an employee named Jake was very helpful in showing off what sort of tricks they could teach me. Jake showed me how to cut to a card in a deck without looking and how to vanish a coin. Very good store bought multiple intro to magic packs from them.

Great selection of D&D miniatures and they have some really affordable arcade machines which were fun. Their board game selection was pretty small, but Ill definitely go back for the arcade.

Cool spot for vintage video games. Lots of old consoles; they have quarter arcades too. Had a lot of fun here today. The staff were super helpful and friendly as well.

Good selection of both games and comics. I managed to find The Wicked and The Divine Vol 5 here when I hadnt been able to find it elsewhere. They have free tabletop gaming on Wednesdays. You can borrow from their selection or bring your own. One caution if you take public transit: the 81 stops running to McClintock/Ray before ten, so you will want to leave before the store closes.

I just stopped by to look around, but I was greeted kindly, and there was a great selection of games. Additionally, they have a lot of space for players of many different types of games to enjoy a tabletop, role playing, or card game. Nice store!!

Staff (one particular staff person) was incredibly rude when a customer inquired information about an on-going event. The space and inventory are nice enough-- however, there are plenty of nearly identical gaming, comic, tabletop, and card playing locations in the valley (and the east valley is saturated). The rudeness and general disdain staff had when asking question pertinent to ongoing events and signage bordered on ableism and makes a return trip significantly less likely. Id recommend frequenting a different establishment if possible.

Good place to hang out and play games, their main audience is magic players but they have other card games war forged and D&D sessions you can sign up for. They dont charge people for hanging out, furniture could use an upgrade but you cant expect anything, easily a 5/5.

If you just wanna play some pinball they have that as well.

A hidden gem. Board games, video games, card games, miniatures and RPGs all in one store. They also have a decent sized arcade with classics like Mario, Street Fighter, and pinball. They also buy sell and trade. Definitely will be returning to play some games.

This place is AWESOME! I went into Desert Sky Games for the first time yesterday, my girlfriend and I were looking for some party/card games like cards against humanity. The staff was INCREDIBLY helpful, they asked if we needed any help immediately when we entered and explained many of the games they sold to us which was very helpful since all we had played was Cards against Humanity. We ended up buying a game called Super Fight, which was really fun. The staff was great, there offerings are awesome, (comics, cards, games, ect.) and they even PRICE MATCH AMAZON! I was thoroughly impressed and look forward to my next visit to Desert Sky Games.

Just walked out of this shop. ...I was informed that the end of year sale is still going on. ...and all back issues in the comic boxes on the floor of their shop are $.99...when I found some very nice comics in those boxes on the floor which I was told by the person running the counter that they were all $.99...they world not sell me what I found for that price. ..its unfortunate. .this was my first time in the shop and was buying other items as well...left the items on the counter I was going to buy in addition to the.. $.99 comics I wanted. ......bad business. .they wouldnt honor what was told to me buy the clerk on staff. ..never coming back. ..unless they honor the sale price. ..

My review of: Desert Sky GamesWe went here to try out a new card game Historic Conquest. This shop had plenty of room with ample tables and chairs for everyone. I loved the coin operated card dispenser machines. I had never seen that before. It was a fun idea. There was even arcade and a pinball machine in the corner for non players to enjoy.If only there was a couched mothers lounge for the moms to hang out while our kids played. That would have made this place perfect.Every Saturday from 4-7pm where you can play with the Pokemon League.

This is a great place to play games like Dungeons and Dragons and Magic the Gathering. They also have a small library of good games you can play before buying. It is a large store.

I am rating solely on their buying policy. I brought in 60 items, 50 of which were board games that retail at $30 - $100 and was offered about $1.50 a game. I dont recommend selling here. They gave me a bulk offer, and didnt even look at each game even though I left them there for 2.5 hours. They also acted like they were doing me a favor buying them and were a bit rude.

Staff was friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. Id definitely recommend it for a casual or hard core gamer. If you dont go, youre missing out. Prices were awesome as well.

Unorganized uninformed and low balling staff. Basically tried to get me to give them my expensive items but offered me decent cash for my cheap items so who ever is training these guys needs to try again. I took all my expensive items to fallout games and they knew what to offer me even offered more than I asked for due to the profit margin that they were potentially looking at. Dersert sky has lost some of its family friendly values and just want your stuff look else where as the store is big but very limited products and limited brains. Know your values before coming in is the best advice I can give

Great used novelty store with a variety of events for card game enthusiasts. I am extremely pleased at how well the staff treats the variety of kids who come to play. Their selection of board games, video games, and movies is fair but their bread and butter seems to be their events and selling cards.

Solid tcg shop. Great for magic: the gathering tournaments, Warhammer, d&d, and used video games. I dont like the fact that there arent any MTG singles in their cases, as everything is computerized. If youre selling MTG singles, I feel like they give you the lower end of the spectrum in value. Great if you want to get a quick buck, but at times their buy list values seem lower than one would expect; even from a card shop.

Great game store with lots of space to play and friendly staff. I was able to try out a board game and they seem to have lots of selection in card games like Magic. Much cleaner than other stores and easy parking.

A great place to buying, selling and trading cards. A huge selection of Magic the gathering and Pokemon. There is a staff that is very helpful and knowledgeable regarding trading cards. All of theirs cards are priced reasonably and theres a great atmosphere if you like to play in-store events. This store is very much worth a visit.

Great new location! Much larger than previous location. With that being said, the new space isnt filled out very well and lacks product. Will edit review once the store has been at that location for more than a few months.

Amazing staff and very knowledgeable. Every time I go in I come out happy, they always have good card variety! Cant wait for them to move to the new bigger building!
