My new go to place for all things bicycle! The staff are super friendly. Ive been to other bike shops where they make you feel youre not worthy of a nice ride but not here!

This place is the best! Ive been to 4-5 other shops in the metro area and they do not compare. Very friendly service and knowledgeable staff.When you bring in your bike for service they evaluate it and give you an estimate on the spot so you know what to expect. Clear communication throughout the process and even grab the door for you on the way out :)

Bought a Revolt and had issues with faulty shifters. after 3 trips in for repairs, Larry was able to contact Giant and get a pair of shifters off of an incomplete bike. Larry and his staff went above and beyond to resolve an issue for me.

Always a great place for anything to do with bikes! There customer service is awesome, been there a couple different times with a flat tire and they have me back on the rode in a matter of 10-15 minutes.

To start overall service here has been good. From purchasing the bike to getting the first tune up. That said, now owning the bike for just under 2 years and putting more ware on it. Noticed a problem so brought in for service. There were 2 employees that were definitely helpful and got the ball rolling to have the bike worked on. Reese, the tech that worked on the bike was Fabulous!!! Was able to diagnose the problem and determine the solution on the spot practically. Got the bike in tip top order and me on my way. Very very happy customer. Definitely say Reese needs a pay raise for his expertise and very good customer service, all around he was great to work with!!!

I purchased a bike yesterday and had some issues on its maiden voyage. Chain broke, affecting other components. I brought it back in to get looked at. Im not sure of the last time Ive received such quality service. Didnt blame me, just willing to fix whatever it needed to make me happy and back on the trails. I recommend this bike shop. The last few weeks trailhead has been very outgoing and got me up and running in a pinch . This place is a joke... may 6 the 40some year old guy at the counter gave me an attitude as soon as I came in the door probably because of the way I was dressed I was painting my house so I still had my sweatpants on that had paint on them. Clearly must have been judging me or something, not sure. All I wanted to do was buy some metallic brakes 4 my scooter that has the exact same disc brakes you put on a bike. It comes standard that way when you buy it new. They did not have the metallic breaks I needed so I asked if I could look at what brake systems they had. He sighed and rolled his eyes and said what ones do you want? I said I dont know, thats why Im here, I would like to see what you have. So he went back grabbed a bucket of miscellaneous brakes placed it on the counter I dug through them I found it and I said this is the one I would like how much is it? Its the exact same ones I have on the scooter now. He went back and talked to either the manager or owner still with an attitude for some reason. Apparently because I didnt know exactly what I wanted it was an inconvenience to him when I thought this was the place to find out what I would want. He came back and said they were for sale but they wont give me a price on them because theyre not going to sell them to me. His exact words. I said why not? He said because what youre going to do with them. At this point I lose my mind. I drove for 40 minutes to come down to deal with this A--holes attitude to buy brake pads from a bike shop that he probably secretly wants to run into the ground because he hates his life and his pathetic job so he decides they are not going to sell them to me because of what I was going to do with them. I said its none of your f---ing business what Im going to do with them. I thought your business was selling bike parts right? which I was trying to buy but you will not sell them to me! I yelled and made a scene. Then the loser at the counter said I understand. I said youre a f---ing idiot... I want to buy something from you and you wont sell it to me as I stormed out of the store. This is the reason online retailers will crush little operations like this. Im looking forward for that to happen to places like this when you get service like that. I ended up finding the exact same one I was looking at for around $10 online so good luck with your little business. Anyway I went up the road to Eriks Bike Shop told them about my experience at trailhead in Champlin. The guy at a different store for a different company apologized 4 my experience at trailhead. they were helpful he looked up the brakes that I needed I showed them online how the brakes for the scooter are the same ones you put on a bike and they were helpful unfortunately they didnt have the brakes in stock so he suggested he could order them for me but I could do that at home. what I was trying to do just go into a place and buy something that day. My advice to anyone is to never go to that trailhead place in Champlin. Go to Erics bike shop Jerry Schwinn in Anoka anywhere but that Champlin place thats my advice I will actually give good reviews on those other places even though they werent able to help me. One of the places suggested trailhead. What a joke. Heres a little advice to the owner if you are in the business of selling bike parts then sell them. it is none of your business what someone does with those parts I could use that brake pad as a paperweight or for the scooter which was their intention and what I wanted them for. So I guess in the owners head its safer to send my nephews down the road on a scooter with no brakes.

Cant say enough good things about this shop. An avid cyclist, I had a flat a couple of miles from their shop in the middle of a 40 mile ride. Even though it was a busy holiday weekend, they got me up and running quickly. Their kindness really made my week.While waiting for my repair, I was impressed with the store selection and how helpful the staff were to the many shoppers.Although I live quite a ways away, Im bringing my bicycles here for service in the future. I am just getting into cycling and purchased a new gravel bike at Trailhead in Champlin recently. The bike is great and the price was good but the best part was the staff. Everyone was super helpful and friendly and the bike fitting with Larry made a HUGE difference in my riding experience. He was super patient and informative, and he adjusted and readjusted every part of the bike until it felt just right. I went on a 30-mile ride today and the difference was night and day. Dont skip your bike fitting! And, thanks to Larry for making riding fun again.

This business is a scam! Bought bottom bracket for my fat bike on their web site. There were 3 choices for delivery: either deliver to my home or pick up in store, either at their Plymouth or Champlin location. As I live in Plymouth, Ive chosen the Plymouth location, the payment was accepted, and I went for pickup. Upon arrival, I found an empty building with an only woman looking pretty much like a store owner (according to her online photos) vacuuming the empty concrete floor. I would like to pickup my item I told here trying to show the online order conformation. This location is not open yet was a reply. Can I talk to the store owner? I asked. No, I am a construction crew, you have to call store at Champlin was a reply. Mind you again, the woman looked like a store owner. Well, called the Champlin location and was told that they cannot check my order number because only store owner has access to their online ordering system, and she is not there (sic!). However, I was told, we have located the product you need and you can come and pick it up. Are you sure I asked, without the access to your online purchase system? Sure, was a reply, no problem. Before departing to their Champlin store, I called them again just in case , and was told the item is waiting for me. Well, I guess everyone now can predict what happened next. Upon arrival and waiting for about 20 minutes the person at the front desk told the owner told them not to sell me this part because they did not realize the part I am buying is not for the bike they have sold. Mind you, the part was openly listed on their web site without any preconditions. We apologize for any inconvenience and the owner will issue a refund when she will be back in an our or so. You better do it, and if you ask me all this looks like a scam I exclaimed and the front desk person slightly nodded ... Mind you they did not manage to write the order number so I am not sure how they will identify the order to issue a refund. Fortunately, the payment was made with PayPal, and PayPal have 180 days money back guarantee policy... Buyers Beware!!!

I just had the BEST experience at Trailhead Cycling! From the time i walked in the door until I left I knew this place was top notch! I knew what bike I wanted when I went in but Andrew helped make sure I got the right size. He was incredible to work with. So kind and knowledgeable. They had to build the bike for me and I was able to pick it up on Wednesday. Again, when I went in the store the lady that helped me was SO GREAT! I am not sure of her name but I do know she will be 59 soon lol! Then as I left the young man that loaded my bike in my car was so polite! Nothing is better than employees that really care about you and what you are buying!

First Id like to congratulate myself on being the 100th review. Next I have to say that Trailhead Cycling is awesome. My wife and I came in today looking for bikes so that we can stay in better shape during the apocalypse. Heidi started helping us as soon as we were in the door and, no, she wasnt motivated by commission. Heidi let us test ride several bikes until my wife and I found the ones that were the right fit for us. She even found the right bike in the right color for my wife who was committed to buying a pink bike.Anyway, if youre in the north metro, or anywhere in the metro, you should try your bike-shopping luck at Trailhead Cycling!

This is one of my favorite bike shops in the whole twin cities. The staff whom I’ve interacted with in person (mike) and this one other lady (forgot her name) was very friendly and professional. They truly care about your experience and kudos to the owner for creating an environment where the employees are happy to work there which in return makes the customers happy, in my opinion. At the end of the day, bikes are bikes. You can get them from here or the 5 other popular stores around the cities, but there’s only one place that you receive the red carpet treatment: Trailhead Cycling Champlin.

I had a great experience buying my first mountain bike (a Giant Stance 29 2) at Trailhead Cycling. I initially contacted them because they were the only shop in the area that had the bike in my size. I called on a Friday and they called back saying the bike was built and ready on Tuesday morning. I got to try it out on the paved trail behind their shop, and I decided to purchase it along with a dropper post. The two sales people and the bike mechanic I talked to were all very helpful while not pressuring me to buy anything. They gave me 10% off the dropper post and threw in installation for free, and were able to install it in under 30 minutes while I waited in the shop. I appreciate their late hours which were able to accommodate my work schedule. I would recommend this shop to anyone looking to purchase a bike.

I went in for a water bottle holder and they had so many cool colors and designs to choose from. I was glad to have one ssociates help me with knowing what will fit on my bike and another was very nice when ringing up what I bought. Definitely recommend!

Went to trailhead and thought I was doing the right thing and supporting a local business, but this isnt the one that deserves it. Horrible customer support/service experience. The only way to get support for my giant ebike is through trailhead who contacts giant on my behalf. When I had a problem, called the shop and explained my concerns with the bike and they said theyd reach out to giant. I sent them the pictures and details of the issue I was having and they said theyd get back to me.After 30+ days and 3 follow ups with them they still are ignoring me. Pretty disappointed that once you leave the shop with a bike and they take your money the customer service stops and the 2 year service garuntee means nothing if they dont hold up their end of it. Definitely wont be bringing my bike or business back here with the plethora of better shops in the Minneapolis area.

I called in yesterday afternoon about a bike repair and was told it would likely be finished today if I brought it in this morning. When I got there this morning I was told the repair would be two weeks. That’s a pretty big discrepancy. If this was my only experience with Trailhead my rating would be much lower, but I’ve had some positive experiences there in the past.

Im pretty new to cycling and had an excellent experience at Trailhead! Obviously I can ride a bicycle but Ive never bought anything other than off-the-rack bikes at sporting goods stores. I was feeling very discouraged before arriving at Trailhead.When I arrived they were surprisingly busy for a Wednesday night before a storm but I was greeted promptly. I was helped by Pam who stuck with me for the remainder of my visit. Pam took the time to understand what type of biking I was doing as well as the features and budget I had in mind. Clearly she knew her stuff because it didnt take long for her to bring me to what ended up being the perfect bicycle for me. A short test ride later and I was sold. While she suggested some accessories, nothing about the experience made me feel pressure to purchase. I did end up deciding to change the tires to a thinner option, add a bottle cage and seat bag w/ tire repair kit all of which the staff was able to install while I waited (less than 20 minutes). Pam even showed me how to remove and reinstall the front wheel so the whole thing could fit inside my sedan.Overall, the experience was awesome and I will definitely be returning.

I purchased a bike for my son that had to be ordered and when the bike didn’t come from the manufacturer when it was supposed to. The owner stepped up, called me on a Saturday morning and made it work for my son by upgrading us to another in stock bike. We were heading out of town for a week and we had traded my sons bike in already. I was so pleased with the service we purchased my daughters bike here also. I highly suggest buying from Trailhead I know I will continue too.

Was in there for 20 minutes with my wife and daughter today. Probably 3rd group in there. Wanted to buy a bike. No one asked if I needed help until my wife was walking out the door. People after me were getting help, so guessing it is hit or miss, but lack of observation skills by the workers was apparent. Too bad, wanted to buy a bike today and a trailer for my toddler.

Lots of great bikes. Staff knows their bikes. Very helpful. They also have lots of accessories. Everything is at least 30% more expensive here than any other shops though. I would recommend calling around for prices on parts.

I bought a used trek fuel ex5 and 6 hours of being owned it broke, there on no warranty on used bikes they sell but they had paid for everything! Always had good service and advice

Last February the bikes I owned were not capable of handling my commute to work. I need a fat tire bike fast, and I didnt want to pay an arm and a leg. Additionally, I dont own a car, and I needed it delivered to my location in a day. Trailhead did all that, and brought me the bike ready to roll to work the next day! Awesome service!

This is my favorite shop in the cities. Im a road bike enthusiast and have at least stepped foot in most bike shops in the cities. This is my favorite shop because the people are willing to spend the time it takes to make sure you get what you are looking for. I buddy of mine recently bought a bike here and we probably spent two hours looking at bikes and test riding them (I got to test bikes even though I was just along for the ride). The person helping us was one of the owners and she was great. She worked with our budget and helped find the best option. Thats a stark contrast to the shop where I bought my last bike (before I discover Trailhead). I wish I would have know. Great service, great selection, good deals. Check it out.

I had an issue exchanging an incorrect kick stand with the one that fit. It was past the 21 day return limit, but I just wanted to exchange the one given to me that was incorrect for the one that fit. Originally, the employee that helped refused to work with me on it. I wrote a review explaining the situation, and my disappointment in the lack of that local small business customer service that I was used to from them.Pam saw the review, and called me to make things better. We werent home when she called. So, later in the afternoon (less than 5 hrs after I made the complaint review), Pam knocked on my door to do the exchange in person. She insisted I take the correct kick stand and a gift card for my troubles. Plus, she said she was grateful for my feedback to use the opportunity to have a training session with her employees on customer service and why people shop locally.I am absolutely astounded that trailhead cared so much about the interaction that she came in person to make it right. I feel much better because I realy liked going there, and the original interaction left such a bad taste I was considering finding a new bike shop. Thanks to Pam and trailheads commitment to customer service, I dont need to even think about going some place else.

My fiancé and I arrived at Trailhead after visiting bike shops all over the metro only to be floored by how amazing the service was. Larry greeted us right away and helped me find the right bike. He put on extended handlebars and even tried different seats for me after I explained what didnt feel right. He literally took the time to fit me for a bike when we couldnt figure out why the frames just didnt feel right. He helped us understand how the bike should be set up - so we could adjusts the other bike at home if we didnt want to bring it in. Larry even gave me a helmet to use while trying the bike on the paved trail immediately behind the store. I finally have a bike that fits right AND at a price we couldnt believe! I forgot to mention the two year free maintenance ... And the huge selection of bikes. They had all prices ranges, most other stores only carried one or two bikes below $500. Wed recommend this store to anyone! Our next purchases for anything related to biking will be from here!!

Stopped in on Monday night and test drove a fatbike. Talked with a super cool sales guy and another guy that knew everything about the bike.Came back on Thursday to buy that bike. Ended up dealing with a guy that knew nothing. He didnt know the price, the size, the model, nothing. Even better he didnt seem to believe the price I was quoted from both other guys. He ended up loosing a $1500 sale and future sales over a $15 adjustment.Seems like a nice place though.

Quick turn around time for repair, but quality inspection on the bike before handing it over is something else.Dropped off bike on Thursday, picked it up Friday evening. Left town right away after picking up the bike. Was riding the bike on a technical trail full of rocks and the crank arm fell off. The bolts were loose. This was part of the service that was done. Installing crankset along with other parts. Luckily did not seriously get injured. Only minor scratches. I was extremely disappointed because I wanted to support local bike shop instead of bigger chain stores. I had my tool bag with me to tighten it back up or else it wouldve been a long walk back in the middle of the woods full of mosquitoes. Make sure to double check the mechanics work if you had it serviced there before. Unfortunately I probably wont be going back. I understand everyone makes mistakes, but this one could have been tragic and prevented.Edit response: I brought in the crankset and bottom bracket separately from the frame. I would have paid for the service if it was already done, which it was done when I picked it up. I didnt want to pay $20 for something that would take a minute to install. I was also told on the phone that it was ready to ride when I pick it up. I assumed everything would be tight and ready to ride as I was told. The final cost was more than I was quoted as well. I was surprised as I was not informed of the change in total before completion.
