Multiple staff members here were exceptionally helpful in working through a complicated ordering situation, and it was great to find somewhere local with the studio monitors I needed in stock. Guitar Center provided genuinely above-and-beyond customer service for me!

I ordered a guitar online for pick-up at this location a few months back, and when I came by, the associates were super helpful. They checked to make sure my order was correct and that I had everything I needed. Their in-store options aren’t extensive, but you can order online for pick-up. Overall great experience!

I went in today to buy a new sustain pedal for my Yamaha keyboard. The associate that helped me (the name Tim is on my receipt) was telepathic and knew exactly the kind of pedal I needed. Great service! Fixed the problem I was having completely with my old pedal and I couldnt be happier.

I have been wanting to buy my first guitar after practicing on a borrowed for some time now. I have been researching guitars online and thought I had figured out what I wanted, but after spending some time in the store I realized I was way off base!From the moment I walked in, Aaron was very helpful. I explained my situation and he listened patiently (like I am sure he does with every new player) before walking me over to the acoustic room. Aaron started pulling guitars off the wall and left me to play on my own (good for me as my only audience has ever been my dogs, even the wife won’t stay in the room for more than 5min). Aaron would come back every once in awhile to check on me and pull some more down to try out (including what seemed to be the most expensive guitars in the acoustic room).Before going in I thought I needed to buy a Martin and spend at least $600 to get a guitar I would like, but all I can think about after being there is the $250 Yamaha that sounded great to my ears. Who knew spending some time in a store could save you money.Thanks for the help Aaron! Hope this review is fair trade for not buying anything. Though I wish I had bought that pic you let me use - that was definitely a new experience.

Im a drummer, so I cant speak to the selection of guitars, but they had friendly, genuinely helpful and knowledgeable staff, super good prices on used drums and cymbals, and a decent selection of gear. All I wish is that thered been slightly more in terms of replacement parts and bass pedals, but I definitely will shop here again.

They lost a big sale because they would not sell to us without a mask! They discriminated against the disabled because my son will not wear a mask but is vaccinated.

Workers are great they were very helpful and informative only reason they are not getting 5 stars is because they didnt have any left handed guitars and I was told they only keep one or two in stock at a time so if your a lefty save yourself the trip and order online youll probably get a much better deal on a guitar you actually want other then that I really recommend this place.

I ordered a guitar in-store and they did the “online order” so the store can benefit from the sale and it can be shipped to our house directly.I was promised by the manager of the store that I will get the guitar in 2 weeks because they need to order it. I was fine with it because I plan to use it on my friend’s wedding in 3 weeks that time so I knew that 2 weeks was more than enough to get the guitar.I was very professional and asked him multiple times about the time frame and he assured me that 2 weeks will be the max and there’s a chance that it can be earlier than that.Now, they charge me and shipped this guitar 4 months after?! After I totally forgot about it and NO ONE followed up on me at all.I just found it outside our home today and I didn’t even open it.Very poor customer service. I would let everyone I know not to do business in this place!

1st experience not so good wanted to ask some questions at check out but was ignored then the next day I get home I check out my bank account and find that they have charged me 3 times. Never going there again .

VERY limited inventory. Maybe 30 guitats total, like 10-15 amps, not many pedals at all. Most of the staff just ignore you. Im in the market for a $1000-$2000 guitar, so its their loss! Sweetwater does a better setup anyways and also offers Pleking. If you must play the guitar first, The Upper Bout on Neil is your place! They set up every guitar they sell.

Insulting offer on one instrument, didnt even attempt to look up the other and gave a very low price for the amp that I brought in. Ive spent alot of money at this store and sold quite a few items there with out a problem until now. Will not be returning. Other than that, recently, The selection of used and new instruments is comical.

I like the prices on used gear

I am a young musician and I play a handful of instruments. This guitar center is only a couple towns over so it’s about a 20-30 minute drive. This place is like a second home, it’s the only place I buy gear. I go in there about 4 times or more a month and there is typically good service. They have a variety of guitars from used to brand new. I’ve checked out other music stores in Champaign but this is by far the best. The staff knows what they are talking about when it comes to gear which makes it helpful with knowing what you should get. String club and stick club is at a low price and lasts a year. It definitely helps you save a lot of money. Small used gear section as well and an acoustic room. Definitely give 5 stars, this is my favorite music shop in the world! Hope this review helps!

Great staff as well as store culture.Everyone I encountered during my visit was extremely helpful! The employee who helped me with my guitar was both invested in the care of the instrument and my financial and personal situation.

Been in many guitar centers but this one has the best service and awesome staff.

Always a friendly, helpful staff....but no high pressure approach at all. Thats a lost art. Nice all around selection. You can try anything out right there and see how it feels in your hands. Thats the way to buy a guitar!

Didnt go for lessons, just bought some guitar gear. It was still a nice enough shopping experience. Staff was attentive, but not annoying or overbearing, and the reset looks nice how things are organized.

I have visited there many times and bought 2 guitars and an amplifier from them the staff are happy to leave you to browse or happy to help. They have a room to try out acoustic guitar or banjo. They sell everything from harmonica to keyboards mixer desks drums guitars and have a selection of quality second user guitars and amplifiers.

Surprisingly knowledgable staff at this small Guitar Center. Usual guitar tech is a great guy with a wealth of knowledge regarding all things guitar. Better environment than most guitar centers Ive been to, but the selection is not as extensive.The String club is a must if you are a regular player, especially if you have multiple guitars.

Made a small purchase, service was a very good first experience. I will go back to try their repair service. They had good advice and seemed reasonably well stocked with fair prices

My purchase was made at the Champaign Illinois store.Was in to purchase some guitar strings and my salesman was named Thackary.He was very knowledgeable and pleasant and was willing to answer all of my questions in detail.I highly recommend this store based on my interaction with my salesperson.

I had left my headlights on in the parking lot and the employees were nice enough to give me a jumpstart, definitely the best Guitar Center Ive been to ever.

First, they basically know very little about music or instruments. Second, they made it so obvious that all what they care is your money. When I went there to find a digital piano, the so-called sales manager was so rude. He would basically shouting into your ear. And what they were trying to do was they order things from Amazon, with a cheaper price and no tax, and they were trying to sell me with a more expensive price with tax. And they said I would only pay the shipping fee for return, but can they be trusted?

Love this place and the people are extremely helpful the couple times been to this store. They have some great deals and and one of the bigger and more interesting used sections out of the guitar centers Ive been to.

Went in and bought Gibson brand guitar strings. The high e string wasn’t made right and the string came out of the winding at the ball end as soon as there was any tension. They told me they wouldn’t offer me a refund and I had to buy a single string that didn’t match the ones I purchased or buy a whole pack of new strings. Apparently their satisfaction guarantee doesn’t mean much.

Bought a guitar for my son there. Staff was very helpful. I also have him taking lessons there and his teacher is great.

Unlike some of the other music stores in Chambana, Ive never had an experience with a rude employee here. Quite the opposite, actually. Someone is always willing to help me find what I need, or let me be if Im just looking around. Pretty much every worker Ive ran into has been a genuinely friendly person. Theres always new stuff in the used gear section.

Not a local business but a bunch of local and helpful musicians work there. I had a gig and in a rush- needed a new cable fast! They were very helpful and understood!

Staff where very helpful and not just out to make a sale. The even recommended we fix or guitar ourselves as the price to repair would have exceeded the cost of a new one.

I had to purchase a guitar last minute and ended up paying about 400 dollars above average cost for the instrument. A taylor 414ce . Next I took in a 700 dollar guitar I loved and had ruined the frets on. The luthier told me it was unrepairable. I ordered about 100 dollars worth of tools and watched 3 youtube videos and changed the frets, leveled them and crowned them in 4 hours. Guitar is still being used no buzz. Lastly I wanted to purchase a used taylor they had. They were charging 1000 over its value and wouldnt budge. They had no idea what model it was ( BTO with 414ce specs) I got on line ti another guitar center and ordered a 614ce for 1000 dollars less which is a guitar that retails for 1500 more than a 414ce and it was a 2017. The guitar they were not wanting to come down on was a 2010. Bottom line shady, not very knowledgeable, not helpful, and very over priced. Fortunately not all guitar centers are this way. 3 strikes is enough for me

Fun place to just pick up instruments and play keyboards, guitars and drums. Its ok to make a lot of noise, I reccomend go in having an open mind guitar tuner and ear buds with a 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter that way if someone else is loud you can plug in the ear buds and jam out!

They always ask to get a letter from my company when I purchase items with tax exempt certificate. I gave up to buy stuff for my school at GC.

This is the place to go for all your show effect needs. Went in there once to look at laser lights Ted the salesman showed me a few and I figured I would be dropping a lot of cash on a laser light and he took the time to let me compare the cheapest one they had (that he recommended) to one of the higher dollar ones and the little one by far out performed the high price ones.Went back today to purchase another one, because one was just not as cool as having two would be. They were sold out but Ted again got one ordered and then when I mention that I was having issues with my fogger showed me their rental and ended up saving my next weekend showcase.Thanks for all the help and saving me from the biggest stress of the week. I will diffidently be going back to Guitar Center before I look anywhere else.

This store has just about anything you could need musically, I believe. I walked around quite awhile, there were a lot of employees in the store, some in different areas like percussion, sound etc... I went and looked at some acoustic guitars, some books, some electrics, listened to an employee play around on one. Got a compliment on my hoodie I was wearing, but never once was I asked if I needed any help until I had picked a book out I thought might help me and went to check out. Now I want to say this person was as helpful as he could be, and he was once I got to the checkout but it was also the same person that had walked past me and gave the compliment on my hoodie never once asking THEN if I needed any help. You were the 3rd Guitar store in a week that made me feel either invisible or like I didnt matter. You know who you are, so the more I thought about it, I appreciate the info, however, no you do not get to play something so precious and sentimental to me just because I shared my story with you and you want to get your greedy little hands on it, after the way I was treated. Bad form.

Absolutely fantastic customer service. I was having some problems with a new acoustic electric that I did not buy from here, sent an email hoping they had a epiphone tech onsite and the store manager bounced ideas back and forth with me all morning until I got it figured out. Went above and beyond!

Service was lacking in a big way. Stood in line way too long while other employees seemingly did nothing and left 1 girl at the counter alone while she helped a customer check out. It was taking a long time and we had 1 or 2 people behind us, and it was still not a priority to get anyone else up to a register. Always dread going here, but when the husband needs new strings, this is where we end up..

I love guitar center! MOST of the employees are very helpful and really cool. Although I tried the lessons one time, and never again. First of all, they could never get my schedule right, or my payment method set up. Second of all, I dont appreciate the teacher screaming at me, and throwing things when I do something wrong. I think thats totally uncalled for. But other than that, I LOVE to shop here. They always have great quality equipment, but Im just gonna avoid the lessons.

Play and stay for a bit. Enjoy what you want and try before you buy!

Amazing store!!!!! This is the only one stop shop in Champaign where you can buy/sell/and trade your used gear, buy new instruments, take lessons, rent gear, or have your instruments repaired. They also have an incredibly friendly and knowlegable staff, and there I wouldnt go anywhere else in town. They also give free guitar and recording classes! If you havent visited the store yet, I highly reccomend it!!!

Fantastic customer service! I placed an order at GC on line for a special order item and when it arrived, the neck was set improperly. I took it to this store so I could talk to a real person and not go through a phone tree. The customer service manager was awesome. She immediately saw the problem, arranged a refund and credited it to the purchase of a new guitar and gave me a discount for the inconvenience. Cant beat that. Although the selection is a little limited (face it, Champaign-Urbana is not the biggest market so its not reasonable for them to have lots of higher-end instruments), other merch youll need to maintain your guitar is there and the staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely go back and recommend it to guitar playing friends.
