Well if you think butcher shop only sells meats this place will have you fooled. I have nothing negative to say about this place and as you can see by everyone else’s reviews this place has earned its respect by being friendly and courteous. Depending on what time you come here there may be a line of people and they normally move quickly. If you come here you will like what you see !

I really like the butcher shop, because it has some of the freshest food there you cant get anywhere else. This is my go to place for lunch meat, chicken and all other meats. Their prices are very comparable with other meat places. Everyone working there are very helpful and polite.I look forward to going back every chance I can.Excellent store, stop by and see for yourself and you wont be disappointed.

Very nice store, good selection of potatoe salads, pasta salads, fruit and vegetables. Also a very nice assortment of baked goods and pastries. Great meat and delicious selection. Would definitely shop here on a regular basis if I lived in the area

Mom and I have Lunch at the Big Oak Cafe Every Time We are in Chambersburg. Their Food is Simply Delicious. Loaded Full of Wonderful Flavor. We have been Eating Lunch Outside on the Patio. Its a Peaceful Place to Relax, have a Conversation and Enjoy a Delightful Meal!

Great selection of fresh foods. Salads, lunch meat, other meat for the freezer. A little pricey, but to be expected being a local store. Always busy, but checkout lines dont take too long.

Very nice local market. Has large Deli and fresh meat counters. Fresh made to order subs and take and bake pizzas. Lots of delicious bakery items. Produce section. Seafood counter. Some frozen foods. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Prices are a little high.

First time visiting here and I was amazed. My sub was one of the best tasting subs Ive had and very reasonably priced. Very friendly service. Just an overall 5 star experience

First time shopping there and the butcher behind the counter misled me to get me to purchase the ground chicken by giving me incorrect product information.I am a competitive athlete and meticulous about my diet. I asked him if they specifically ONLY use chicken breast in the ground chicken to which he replied yes. I then asked do they trim it to which he replied of course they do or else it would be a mess. I then buy several pounds of the ground chicken because I thought it was ultra lean only to get home and realize its 90/10 because the package said 90/10 chicken breast & chicken thighs. I was told it would be 99% which is what only chicken breast would be.I called the store and the manager and she gave me store credit with little hassle. I did also purchase their ground 95/10 sirloin which tastes amazing ad incredibly difficult to find in that ratio! Great quality meats and a great selection in the case. If you are health conscious this is the store! I will return again.PS the ground chicken does look fantastic I will eat it when my diet is over!

I was very disappointed in my recent purchase of potato salad. It had no chunks of potatoes, too much mustard and the consistency of deviled egg filling. I have gotten it in the past and had no complaints. Perhaps they had a new person making it? Anyway, it was not up to the standard that the Butcher Shoppe is known for. I probably wont buy it again.

I love this place. They have food already prepared and just needs heated, the have fresh fruits and veg, meats. Homemade cookies pies cake, and mini banana and pumpkin bread. Just cannot say enough about this place. Love it..

Good atmosphere and good prices for quick things

Fresh salads, a variety of soups, baked goods, pastries...they have it. Great for business travelers who dont have a kitchen to prepare meals. This place offers home cooked meals at a great price. Travelers passing by Chambersburg who need prepackaged food should drop by here...especially those on a camping trip. Love this shop!

Lots of good things to eat. Not much social distancing. And even though mask requirement was lifted you would have thought one person would wear one, especially the workers.

Very nice little grocery store / market ?? This place was packed when I went. Plenty of cashiers to ring everyone up and keep service quick though. They have some more specific specialty items you wont get at the megalomart. My GF likes the snickerdoodle cookies , so I got some chocolate chip cookies... Ill pass on them next time.

There is so much goodness to explore at The Butcher Shoppe. Some highlights: subs (great price for sandwiches packed with fresh toppings), ready to go meals (the new Falafel Shack items have been a welcome find), oatmeal mini whoopies, and their hot homemade Chex mix.

Found what I was looking for plus oatmeal and raisin cookies. Everything is great here.

I wish I could say this store took things seriously. Its been on a steady decline for a while now.-The cakes Ive gotten have been somewhat overcooked and dry, or the frosting tastes as if the oil/emulsions have spoiled.-Most employees are generally nice. One extra star for that. A smile here or there doesnt hurt though.Additionally, while shopping today, I noticed the mandate isnt being enforced for employees.Let me preface this by saying that I am a somewhat higher-risk person, and my family is high-risk. The Butcher Shoppe gives no mind to older customers or those that have higher risk factors. The CDCs guidance only applies in settings where people are proven to be vaccinated. The DOH has stated that the mandate remains in effect for unvaccinated people/settings with unvaccinated individuals until at least 70% of Pennsylvanians over the age of 18 are vaccinated.Ive supported this business nearly my entire life. Im just disappointed its come to a point where I rather take my business elsewhere. Do better.

You must made the trip. Bring your cooler. Helpful staff. They will package in freezer wrap so you should plan to stock up. We love the loose breakfast sausage. They have a turkey, regular and pepper and onion. Bakery, prepared foods, deli and much more. Big Oak is a great spot for lunch too

What a super find! We were out on a ride and getting hungery. Stumbled upon the Big Oak Cafe. I ordered the Signature sandwich and my taste buds went in to overdrive! The freshness of all the ingredients were superb. But the fresh pineapple and the pineapple/pecan jam made this ham with farmers chesse and lettuce on white bread, over the top! Will definitely be getting lost in Chambersburg on purpose again!

They have alot of other items besides meat and fish. Great place. Good sales on meat. Like buying local.

They have the best breast of chicken salad we have ever eaten!

We are typically fans of this local establishment, however, today at just before 6 pm, we attempted to purchase some London broil from the meat counter and have it sliced for beef jerky. Now mind you, we have done this on countless occasions before, with the meat often being cut by hand. Today, the staff informed us that the saws were being torn down for cleaning already and we were unable to get the meat cut. Not only would they not cut the meat, they were gruff with us. They stormed off to discuss with a manager. We waited for some time and they didn’t return so we left. We are severely disappointed in this. We usually love this place.

Its just a grocery store on the surface, but their meats rival all the bigger companies. If you know how to cook meat well, use theirs.

Huge selection of everything !!! Sammichs at the Big Oak were Very good !!! I bought 11 pounds of 16/20 count shrimp for just under 9 dollars a pound , wild caught from the Gulf and Im very happy !!!

Love the variety of ready made foods, my husband and I have different tastes so when we cant decide what we want to eat we just take a short drive to The Butcher Shoppe and pick what we are hungry for and thats our dinner. Great people working there very friendly and pleasant experience everytime.

Well known local butcher shop and restaurant. Always found both the grocery side and restaurant side to be excellent, great service and items. Wide selection of meats, seafood (very good for this area), and fresh bakery items. Sometimes prices feel little slightly high, but compared to other grocery stores and considering the quality, its reasonable with the weekly sales that they announce. You cant go wrong if you want good stuffnto make at home. And again, diner is very good.

The Butcher Shoppe has amazing customer service and delicious food. This is the only place I buy ham and chicken salad. They have a great selection of meats and cheeses. For a quick meal, their subs are priced right and are delicious. The pizza, we have had once and it was not to our liking, but have seen many people purchase.

I was so excited to book our wedding cake and cupcakes from the Butcher Shoppe. My husband and I have never had a bad experience with any baked goods. We tried the samples for the wedding cake and they were all so delicious! We chose to do cupcakes instead of a large tiered cake so that it would be a moist cake instead of a more compact dry cake. The cake and cupcakes looked good when we picked them up, but were extremely dry and even a little brown on the outsides.We were very disappointed with the outcome for our wedding day.

We were able to get a table outside with the nice weather and the Greek salad was delicious and the coffee cake muffin was big enough for sharing with my grandbaby!

Holy smokes! All I wanted was a 5 pound chuck roast!The older guy behind the counter, probably my age (67), acted like I was stupid asking for such an outrageous thing. Why, I should know the chuck only runs 3 to 4 pounds. Clearly he would be happier if nobody bothered him. Why dont I come here more often? Hmmm....
