I used to go to the Cedar Rapids location frequently, but I do not plan to go back. While in the store today, I had picked up a black shirt, carried it with me while I looked at other items, decided that I didnt want it, and put it back on the same rack where I had found it. I thrift frequently, and I believe that this is common behavior since you might find an item that you are considering and dont want someone else to take it while you make a decision. I have done this on plenty of shopping trips, including at this store, and have never been bothered. Today, a staff member came up to me after I had put the shirt back and asked about it. At first I thought she was just making conversation, asking why I decided not to get it, but her demeanor quickly made it clear that she thought that I had put the shirt in to my tote bag. She got quite close to me (while being unmasked) and asked me to show her where I put the shirt because if it wasnt put back correctly she would lose her bonus. I have never been told this by a staff member at this store, and if that were really the case, I would expect that the clothing would be better organized than it is. After this interaction, I was uncomfortable and it was near closing, so I decided to leave rather than continue to browse. While I was starting my car, the woman who came up to me came out of the store, walked toward my car, and watched me leave. I would have much preferred being asked to open my bag and show that the shirt wasnt in there rather than experience this kind of disrespectful, cagey behavior over a used turtleneck.

Their consignment contract is is far from equitable for my taste but its ones choice to trade here or not. I was in a position where I used them once again recently to consign some furniture after clearing out a house in Cedar Rapids since I live in South Carolina. Theyve sold a few pieces of that furniture and I asked them to send me the check for $56 (minus check fee of $2). A few days later, I get a new mailbox in the same town and have my old address forwarded, which forwarding lasts many months. Two weeks go by and I still dont receive my check so I call and let them know, also notifying them to send directly to the new mailbox. Their accountant notifies me via the manager that since I didnt tell them of my new address, Ill be charged a $30 stop check fee for the mail that I didnt lose, nor receive. In summary, they sell my furniture and I get dubious commission of $56 minus their check fee of $2, then get penalized $30 because my forwarded mail got lost and Im apparently the one to answer for post office negligence?

I posted on their Facebook page only to have stuff delete not only mine but other negative reviews off their page. We will not be silenced!I was once an employee there and I loved working there. I will say it was good at first... until I saw behind closed doors. Many employees have gone to the general manager and even to corporate that things needed to change! From work environment to policy. Every time they were refused and even claimed that the employees threatened them when we were being as humble as we could. We asked for an employee to corporate meeting. They asked for time. We gave them time. Three weeks at that! And they ended up saying no. I no longer support Stuff Etc. Sad to leave behind a store I loved...

As always, very good values. Great selection still as, with most stores, they are not quite back to normal number of customers. This is good and bad. Would not hesitate to recommend that someone shop there

I have had no problems with this store- great stuff and all, but this morning we were greeted with a RUDE worker.... all because we werent wearing a mask. We told her that we were not going to wear a mask, and they have NO authority to tell us what we need to do. Our health is NONE of their business. Our bodies, our choice. She told us to leave, so there, they just threw at least $500 out the door. Oh well, not our loss.......

Store is way to crowded with product. Furniture area definitely does not meet ADA standards which require 3 feet aisle for wheelchairs to travel through.Management doesnt know how to run a coffee shop. Why have a coffee shop at all if it is only open during the day, and not during busy times, such as when customers visit after work.PS, to all those people who think the cookies were homemade, they werent. They start out life as frozen dough and are just baked. Nothing homemade and fresh about them at all.Staff and supervisors are a mixed bag. Some are friendly, others, not so much. A few of the supervisors are outright rude to customers and laugh about it. Others will just ignore you when you are trying to get their attention.

To preface, REVIEWS OF OUTRAGED EMPLOYEES ARE ACTIVELY BEING TAKEN DOWN FROM STUFF ETC.S FACEBOOK PAGE.As a former employee of Stuff Etc. I feel the need to inform people that the smiles of the workers are a facade. Many workers have dealt with constant harassment thats gone unchecked regardless of actions taken to prevent it. Those people feeling the need to harass others are also being promoted by the company. As a whole, the building that I had to work in was presumably unsafe. There were broken doors and lights, and the walls and windows leaked after moderately heavy storms. So much so that on quite a few occasions we had to rush to the bailer room to fetch armfuls of towels to try and keep the leaks from seeping throughout the store. from what I know nothing was ever done to fix these problems, and to quote an ex-coworker, Every time we found ourselves in a bad situation nothing was ever truly fixed or attempted to be fixed... which leads me to believe that it was to save their money instead of assuring the safety of their customers and employees.Shifts were often stressful as the night and weekend crews were nearly always understaffed. This often lead to workers being scolded when jobs werent done as there wasnt a way to get everything done.During the Derecho that hit the Midwest in 2020, employees were told that they needed to drive an hour away to another stuff location while most had no power, access to showers, or ways to wash their clothes. With that most were also rejected their unemployment.Furthering the employees experience, high school students were made to feel as if they were incompetent, and were treated as if they were children, and all workers had veterans discounts and paid breaks taken out from under them as well

As a shopper Stuff etc is great and you can find great deals. As a consigner its ok. There is too much inconsistency with the pricing. I have brought in several of the same items and one person prices the item at 3.74 and another pricer prices the item at 7.50. Both items were in the same condition which was new. That is a big difference and this has happened several times with the same items over and over. I wish you would be more consistent in pricing. What made me really unhappy is I brought in an item that was new and I saw it on the self with the box open with a tear on it. I have had some items rejected that you have taken in the past that I know would sell at your store.

Having been an employee at stuff for two years on both the in store management team and on the corporate team I believe I hold a unique perspective on the environment of the work place at this store. I filed SEVERAL harassment claims against a single worker who repeatedly was insubordinate and cruel to both myself and other employees. Nothing was ever dealt with and this employee began taking increased roles in the company. This outraged a number of employees, but again nothing was done because this corporate staff has created an attitude of “this is how we’ve always done it” and because this employee had worked there many years she was valuable. Many employees tried to confront the corporate team about poor employee wages and benefits and received poor responses with a few choice employees receiving wage increases and others left high and dry. As a back end supervisor you can expect to make $13 or less. If you would like to be appreciated and listened to I would recommend getting a job at nearly any other retailer as many are now paying their starting employees $15 or more.As far as consignment goes I cannot speak highly enough of them. They devote all their energy towards serving their customers and consign its as best as possible that they forget that their employees have stressful and busy lives just like they do.

The Stuff store is very easily noticed as you drive by, but the drive in from street to the parking lot is a bit rough of a curb drop going in and out of in your car. There is plenty of parking and a wheelchair accessible entrance. The store is very large. The sections have signs and are placed well and so you can find exactly what youre looking for. There was a strong pungent odor that lingered throughout the store that was very hard to deal with, so I tried to go through quickly. Because of this single factor, I am rating the visit one star lower than I probably otherwise would have. I noticed some things are priced very well, while others that are very similarly are too close to retail to be a value. The baby & children items are plenty, and take up a big percentage of the right side of the store. On the left side, there is just furniture and I LOVED seeing the antiques! If youre visiting Stuff, have at least an hour of time to shop because there is a lot to check out!

Halloween is over and the real holiday shopping has begun at S. E. The store was decently organized and busy on this Saturday morning. I spent at least an hour in the store. I was thirsty and needed caffeine to keep shopping. I went to their coffee shop. It was closed. I asked an employee if they still had a vending machine. He pointed in the general direction. I tried unsuccessfully three times to put money in the machine. It was broken. I spoke with a manager at the check out and she knew the vending machine was out of order. They should have put an out-of-order sign on the machine and informed all the employees to redirect customers to the cooler and snacks for sale in front of the register. It didnt do me any good to find a drink and snack on my way out the door.

I still feel the prices are high compared to the now closed West store but seems to be bigger, brighter and more variety. I occasionally stop in and mainly just look around or searching for something specific. I dont know if the same discount by date prices are the same but havent found anything I wanted marked down. If I could rate zero stars, I would. I have been selling things here for years but no more. I have had jewelry stolen from my tote by employees and was only reimbursed after threatening to have police come in with me to view security camera footage. I recently brought in items, one of which was an UNOPENED SEALED bottle of tanning lotion. When I picked up my things they had thrown everything into one bag and the tanning lotion had not only been opened, but was now all over the clothes and other things I brought in. Staff could have cared less. I brought in a dish set, 8 pieces, they took 6... wouldn’t take the full set and wouldn’t give back what they took so I could sell the whole thing myself. The final straw, I came in to pick up my things and they had been stolen. One staff member cared and tried to look. The others didn’t have time and stated it wasn’t their responsibility. They have poor protocols and do not care about the people selling their items. Never again.

This place is a total waste of time. I created an account with them about 3 weeks ago because a friend had told me that I could get rid of clothes there as long as the clothes were fairly new. I had 2 full plastic tote boxes full of new to brand new clothes with many sweaters, sweatshirts, and long sleeve shirts that I folded up myself. When I was told to pick up my totes, they were still completely full, and looked untouched, and had a note on top that said Wrong Season Outdated, so I ended up donating them. I was with one of their employees when I dumped them in the donation bin. One of my totes had alittle dust on the bottom and this, of course, got on a few clothes. I said to her, Its funny that theres still dust in the tote (pointing at my shirt from the bin) if someone actually looked at these clothes. I think Ill be going to Platos for now on. The girl looked at me and said, Oh no please dont go leaving our store unhappy. Call Ashley, our Sales Manager, tomorrow morning, explain the situation to her and shell make it right. So thats what I did and Ashley did nothing more than look up my account number to see who handled my bins, defend that person, then hung the phone up in my face.....

After closer inspection we realized the original packaging had either been melted closed or super glued to look new. When we opened the walkie-talkie it was completely broken in multiple pieces. When we went to return it to Stuff, because you shouldnt sell an item as new when its in multiple pieces, they told us to leave it with them and they would have a manager look into it. Three weeks went by and we didnt hear a word, calling the store every couple of days to check in on the situation. Finally we went in to find out what was going on and were told it had been thrown away and there was nothing they could do to help us. They would not refund the money or even give us back the item we had purchased. After a long argument we were finally given a calendar they sell, and were told it had a $5 value. A quarter of the price of the item we purchased. To add insult to injury, on our way out the door, we noticed on the counter the calendar with a price tag of $1.50. This company is run by a bunch of crooks. Any other store in the world, if they lost your merchandise, would replace it or give you the cash value back. Do not purchase anything from this store if you can help it, everything is radically overpriced anyway.

I used to shop at stuff regularly but I have become super discontent because I find the pricing quite unfair and the management unwilling to be reconcile issues. I often find THE SAME ITEM OR BETTER FOR THE SAME PRICE OR LESS at discount retailers like HomeGoods or Tuesday Morning Most recently while shopping at Stuff, I was searching for dessert cups to match new ones I purchased the day before at Tuesday morning, which only had 4. I found about 2 dozen of the same cups consigned at Stuff and they had 3 DIFFERENT PRICES ON THEM!!! The register clerk would not match the prices nor would she call a manager. To top it off, I was verbally assaulted by the customer behind me who felt I was a terrible person for calling this practice into question. Needless to say, I will not be returning. And thats too bad because I was about to shell out $100 for some cute furniture there too, which was why I went in the first place. But I like to shop where Im respected as a customer and Id rather pay more to a company that has integrity. And as far as consigning goes......lol. Good luck getting your things looked at in a reasonable time frame. What chance do your things have of being sold in a place with so many other people consigning the same thing?
