The service at Photo Pro is beyond amazing. My daughter and I brought in a SD card of priceless wedding photos to Photo Pro and expected the worst. The staff was so caring and helpful and spent several hours trying to recover them. They were successful! Even if the recovery was not able to happen, I would have left there feeling like we were their only mission. Online purchases are convenient, but nothing replaces faces that really care. When I was there waiting, I witnessed the staff being like this to everyone who walked in the store. I will never order photo eqiptment online again. Their prices are the same as the best online anyway, I want to support this Iowa business because they want my business and will do everything they can to serve the customer.

I needed passport photos and wasn’t happy with the ones taken at Walgreens so I had decided to retake them at Photo Pro. During the process, all of the staff were friendly and helpful, plus the photos turned out great with better lighting and camera settings. I requested a soft copy of the photo only after the memory card containing the digital copy was reformatted but the staff went through the trouble of recovering my photo and sending it to me via email even though they were being told they didn’t had to do that. Because of this, I high recommend Photo Pro and will definitely return for more services. Thank you all for your help!

I am a photographer in the Cedar Rapids area. I simply shoot the photos and do the edits. I send my customers with a flash drive so they are free to print whatever they may please. I had a customer call the other day explaining the issue they were having. When shooting, your camera automatically puts the photo in a 2:3 ratio. So printing a 4x6 would be perfect but if you want to print in a 8x10 it’s gonna cut an inch off each side. The staff was great in explaining the issue and made it very easy to understand where I went wrong. Highly recommend them for all you printing needs.

Stopped in at Photo Pro today to have my used Canon T5i and lenses that I purchased on eBay checked out. Dave took the time to thoroughly inspect my gear and even checked the photo count on my camera. I am new to DSLR cameras and Dave took the time to explain the different kind of lenses available and walked me through the different settings on my camera. I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to receive quality service from people who clearly care. If you are in the market for a new or used camera, don’t hesitate to purchase your gear here!

I get all of my gear here and I ALWAYS get above and beyond costumer service. Dave (I think he may be the manager?) is PHENOMENAL! I had questions and he went way over his call of duty and gave me a full hour long teaching lesson! He helped correct some things in my camera settings and taught me how to use my ocf. Friendly staff seems very knowledgeable about their camera products. Offer training/classes of camera products sold and other classes open to the public. In-house picture prints are very high quality. Purchased a Nikon D7200 camera with accessories three years ago and attended one of their training class.Aluminum pictures are also available along with other unique printing processes. Easy to work with staff for special printing requirements.Have been a customer for several years with no issues to date. Now take all of our pictures to be printed to Photo Pro. We love Photo Pro! The staff is knowledgeable and friendly and their printing is top quality. We recently test printed some pictures at a major photo chain as well as at Photo Pro. There was a very noticeable difference in the the clarity and sharpness of the pictures.

What a great store! I stopped by on my way through Cedar Rapids and was absolutely amazed at the inventory packed into this store. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, Dave walked me through buying my first tripod and 3 years later I am still thrilled with my purchase. Rollin has been an incredible help, even to the point of emailing me specific information and articles about the camera I was looking at as they became available. I recommend Photo-Pro and make the 1hr drive from Waterloo just for this store.

Here is my full experience:I was in search of a camera store so that I could try out a camera and lens that I was considering for purchase. The Des Moines camera store closed last year so I found photo pro online, which was about an hour and 45 minutes away from where I live. I called the day before I expected to travel there to see if they had the camera and lens I wanted to try in their rental equipment so I could test it out in the store. I also called see if they had the camera and lens brand new in stock so that I could buy it if I liked it. I spoke with the owner, and he was very personable and accommodating. The camera was rented out already so he told me I could use his personal camera (which happened to be the one I wanted) and the rental lens in stock to try out. The camera I wanted was pretty popular and sold out at the store but he told they already had ordered more and that he would let me know as soon as he got them in. He did not disappoint! I came in this morning and tried out the equipment. He spent a good hour and a half with me showing me some things about the camera as well as how I would use it in my area of photography. He showed me a lens protector as well as an expo disc (which works like a gray card but much easier) and how to use them. I purchased the lens,expo disc, and lens protector. The owner is setting aside the camera I want when they get the order in and will call me when it is ready.

Came here from the Iowa City area, definitely worth the drive! I had previously had bought a bag that didn’t fit all of my camera stuff online, but at this store it only took a few minutes to find a bag that worked perfectly! Customer service was great and the prices weren’t horrible either. Would definitely recommend going here and at least looking at the selection rather than going online!

Picked up a very well priced used Canon T5i, couldnt find one ANYWHERE for a better price. The staff was very helpful as well. 10/10 would take their photo.

I drove all the way from Massachusetts to come to Photo Pro! Ok, maybe it didnt happen quite like that. I was traveling through and had a couple of filters that were cross-threaded. I couldnt get them apart on my own so I stopped in hoping they had tools I didnt.They didnt owe me a thing - I didnt buy my camera there, I wouldnt be a repeat customer (well, not in person)...didnt matter a bit. Everyone working that day (including Dave the owner) got involved, and wouldnt rest until they got the filters apart and gave my camera a thorough inspection. When I balked at the cost of a full sensor cleaning Dave even found a workaround rather than let me leave with a speck on the sensor - because he really cared that my camera was clean more than he did about making money. Let that sink in for a bit.They sent me on my way with two discrete filters, a clean camera, directions to the sweet corn stand (with hotel microwave cooking instructions), a new strap and a renewed faith that helpful genuine people do still exist. And all I came in for was to see if they could get my filters apart...which they did. For free.

When my mother died we needed 6 prints made quickly. The print team was so nice and thoughtful. Great team.

The second I walked in I was greeted with help. Staff was very friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable about all their products and sales. Being new to cameras in general, I was talked through every aspect and differences in the cameras. Definitely where I will go to purchase my camera!

DO NOT USE!!! FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!The owner Dave is more concerned with telling you how many well known photographers he works with and preaching about his spiritual beliefs than caring for him customers or caring for their equipment. We have been flat out told about other clients repairs that went worse than ours and they are better photographers than us...in his own words! So let me get this straight, I should feel better about my issues because youve done way worse to a photographer that you have decided is better than us. The lab does a nice job but that is the only redeeming quality that this store has. We have actually returned our photography business to a store where we used to live and they were willing to do all of our business via mail! Thats service!!! And we have never had a problem with all of the extra shipping. Again, anywhere else will be a better bet unless you are printing. Good Luck!

Drive through print pick up! This alone deserves 5 stars, but this store earns it in every other way as well.I came into the store to look at wide angle lenses tonight. Dave showed me many different models, and after sharing some information about each lens, he let me try them out. While I was experimenting with the different settings, he cleaned my second camera body, sensor and lens. This is the BEST camera store I have ever been to.I ended up purchasing Elinchrom lights here as well. Dave showed me exactly how to set them up and how to use them in my studio. I did some research before I came into the store, but the staff at Photo Pro far surpassed anything I found on my own. They told me what different products are offered and really how each is unique from their OWN EXPERIENCE. You truly cant get this kind of support, service or information anywhere else. Every time I go into this store, they give me as much time as I need to learn about the new products. I have never felt rushed, and I always learn something new here. I started off talking to Dave, but by the end of my trip here, I felt like every person working in the store was sharing advice and tips with me. It was a wonderful experience tonight as well as every time Ive been here in the past. I feel so fortunate to have a store like this here in my own home town. This place is a real gem, and its wonderful to see a camera store still going strong these days.Something I want to praise in particular: it has long been my experience that camera stores have a tendency towards being more than a bit condescending towards anyone who isnt a professional, but I am very happy to say that each time Ive been to Photo Pro, its clear that they treat everyone, regardless of their experience level or technical knowledge, with respect and kindness. They make sure to give the best information they can and they really take the time to help everyone find what they need and what they might need to know. That is something of a rarity, and it is worth so much.On the other hand, if you do come in with very specific technical knowledge and questions, theyre always game for conversation and thorough knowledge. If your 200-500 f/4-6.3 is fuzzy above 400m and below f/8 and you need a good alternative (to throw out a random example), theyll be able to help you.A wonderful little shop that deserves your business if you have any interest in photography or videography.

After spending a couple of years and countless hours watching YouTube tutorials and sitting through online classes, which were never tailored specifically to my camera or needs, I called PhotoPro to schedule a one on one with their staff. Dave, the owner answered my call. We couldnt find a mutual time to meet between now and a shoot that I have coming up in 4 days so he spent over an hour on the phone walking me through my issues. He put me in touch with Kim, their post-processing specialist and marketing guru to give me advice regarding post-processing software. Dave was professional and he articulated his answers in a way that made sense to ME. He is clearly passionate about helping photographers not just at the professional level, but amateurs and beginners alike. Hes earned all of my future business.

Over the past few weeks I have had the chance to work with James, Ryan, Lori and Dave in regards to purchasing a Nikon D750 and printing options for my clients. Wonderful customer service today at PhotoPro! They were able to identify and fix the problem I was having with my Nikon camera right on the spot. Thankfully it was an adjustment and not something that needed repair. Dave then went above and beyond by showing me how to further adjust the aperture and shutter settings to capture better photos. Dave Johnson went above and beyond the call of duty to meet our needs. During photography of our upcoming auction catalog, our main camera quit working. We needed a new camera immediately and no local stores had what we needed. Dave Johnson at Photo Pro saved the day and personally met us half way between Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids to make sure we had the camera.

UPDATED (2020) - 3/5⭐️After University Camera closed in IC this is pretty much what you’re left with for camera service/film developing. While I was harsh in my initial review, I stand by it. Every time I’ve gone in since I’ve had to make sure to be EXTREMELY specific in instructions, sometimes even being told that they don’t develop medium format film. It is a hit or miss and if it’s incredibly important work, I’d recommend sending your film/camera to be serviced elsewhere. That being said, it is worth it’s downfalls for the ability to pick up some rolls of film and random essentials right before a shoot or road trip. They’ve got Portra 400, E100, and Ektar hiding in the fridge (priced to pay rent, mind you) and the staff is generally helpful/nice. All that to say, I’d rather have them there than not.ORIGINAL REVIEW (2017) - 2/5⭐️Inability to follow clear instructions on scanning of 35mm film. I was clear when requesting .TIFF format in high resolution. What I received were .JPGs in 2mb file sizes. Not what I asked for. There was also straight lines across the negatives that were made by the development machine. This is not how a proper lab should be run. I was willing to pay pro prices to have it done right. Provide the service your name suggests or change the name of your shop.
