How this place has a 4.6 rating here is beyond me. It must be the family and friends! I took my 8-person riding group there on Sat based on the rating here and I regret it. Quite disappointed. My cappuccino cost $6 and it was no good -- bitter and off. $4.95 for single and $5.95 for double! He never asked me if I wanted single or double. $6 for a cappuccino in Castro Valley is a ripoff. For $5 I can get the best cappuccino in the top cafes in the Bay Area. I also got a piece of supposedly savory pastry with cheese and mushroom but the base was like a sweet cake. Pretty gross. When I told him he said he didnt make it! Well, you sell it; you should know. Btw he doesnt take any type of card payment in this day and age, which to me is a sign of dishonesty. I am being generous giving it 3-stars.

This is a little gem. A range of good coffees and teas, with pastries, etc. The interior is very comfortable and pleasant, with great music. Outside there are a few tables. Some parking spaces in front. Recommended.

Extremely costly!!! I paid $7 for a latte. Probably because they use organic coffee. It has a nice cozy patio facing the street to sit and drink coffee.

Excellent service! Im so happy to have found this place. The best coffee in town! The atmosphere is relaxing and chill everyone seems to know each other which is nice! Costs a little more than Starbucks but its completely worth it in the quality and service and its a local business rather than a chain. Definitely recommend you trying if youre curious as you wont be disappointed!

Oh, sure, every place you look, theres a corporate chain coffeehouse. But what if you would rather take your business to a local, family owned café? Someplace with excellent espresso drinks, pastries, and calm, friendly ambiance. Someplace without an iPhone app, no Android app, no parade of harried commuters with complicated paper cup drink requirementsValley Java is perfect. Great coffees, regular customers, friendly people behind the counter.Check them out.

Pleasant staff, good coffee and relaxing space. Various unique items for sale. Paces on the expensive side. Has a variety of cancer causing sweeteners but when asked of theres stevia or another natural sweetener was told they were too expensive.

It just a GREAT cup of coffee! I stumbled upon this place while heading to a friends house. So far been there 2x. I drink black coffee and am somewhat a connoisseur and very picky. Since I drink it black, I can tell if its a good brew. :-)

Very diverse & mature atmosphere . This is one of Castro Valley finest. Not that Starbucks atmosphere, very peaceful, mature conversations and nice jazz music. I see the hospital staff are regular s as well. The coffee is all organic and other hot drinks I must say Starbucks has some competition.

Coffee here is really good, and I love how its a cozy atmosphere. The weird thing was we were charged 16 dollars for a medium vanilla latte and Ive blended coffee. 8 dollars each seems like way too much, but maybe we were charged wrong. Coffee it self was good, definitely did not taste like Starbucks which is a good thing. Tasted real (even though I got to Starbucks all the time)

The Starbucks and Peets coffee alternative in Castro Valley. Very hometown feel, everybody knows everybody if you are a local. If not theyre more than happy to fill you in on whats happening around the town. Coffee and all the snacks are hand selected by Vince and his wife only the best including vegan options

This place is right off the beaten path and doesnt stand out too much. You almost need to know its here if you wanted to stop by. After I park and start walking up to the front door I get a sense of tranquility. Nothing fancy or in your face, just a coffee shop that has organic coffee. I liked that feeling. Once I stepped inside I see all the art work on the walls and hear the jazz music playing in the background. I take my time making my way to the counter to order checking out all the cool things they offer off to the side. They have cups, teas, coffee, organic honey and a bunch of other cool things. As I was checking out thier menu I couldnt help but notice that they focus on thier drinks and not so much on food. They had a few muffins and bagels but that was about it. They have a nice selection of coffee choices and smoothies and they also had a a selection of bottled beverages. They guy who took my order, which I think was the owner was nice and the lady who made the drinks was friendly as well. Once I received my coffee I took a seat and began to enjoy my americano. As Im drinking my coffee I felt as though I could really taste a difference in the beans compared to other coffee shops. My drink has a very smooth and clean taste to it, not very acidic like some of the other coffee shops Ive tried. I found myself wanting more as I was finishing my drink. I thought the price for my americano was about right and looking at the price of other drinks they didnt sound too bad if they taste as good as what I had. This place is definitely a cool little place to try out of your in the area.
