We took a saw in for sharpening last week. We were told wed get it back in 2 days. We called after 2 days and every day following for over a week and each day we were told: Its not ready yet, it will be tomorrow. When they were finally able to complete the sharpening, we received rude treatment upon retrieval and were charged an extra fee for something we were not informed of up front. Specifically, when we dropped off the saw, we asked if the chain should be taken off for the sharpening (I had a tool to remove the chain in my car and have done it a number of times in minutes) and we were told it didnt matter either way. However, we were then charged an extra $20 fee for not removing the chain. Had we been informed we would have definitely taken it off at the beginning.A 15 minute sharpening job that took over a week to complete, very unfriendly employees (at least at the front desk - please offer customer service training) and untruthful pricing... we would not recommend.

Great work and even better guys that work at this shop! I have taken my equipment here for the past few years, and never have had any problems. Yet, I do reside in Youngsville (which is roughly 50 min drive) I would not rather have anyone else work on my equipment. That being said, take a trip to this shop and I can promise you will not be disappointed. A great local business with more than 40 years strong.

Blower Vac had stalled and would not start again. Took it to Cary Mower and saw after a few weeks, I was told it was ignition coil and ###.00 to fix. It wasnt the ignition coil. It was a very simple safety switch associated with vacuum operation and safety guard. As an echo dealer I would have expected them to know of this...did they?

This has nothing to do with the quality of the repair; it is about deceptive pricing. They added a convenience fee that came to 3.84% of todays charges. This charge was not disclosed when I asked them over the phone what the total charge would be. (I dont think they included sales tax in the charge I was quoted either, but Im not sure about that.) I asked what the convenience fee was for, the person behind the desk said, Oh, thats not us; its your bank. Now, I do not ever recall being charged a convenience fee except by the government (which of course is a monopoly). I said, I can pay be debit card. The person said, Ive never seen the fee not charged unless you pay in cash.So I phoned the bank. They said they do NOT add a convenience fee to transactions, unless they are in foreign currency. Not disclosing the fee up front seems DISHONEST. Would you trust a DISHONEST business with your equipment?

If I could give a lower score I would. Purchased a new electric mower and after 2 weeks the battery died. No problem so I thought. Support local businesses which value customer service. What customer service??? They claim they are only the middle man for my warranty claim. Never call with updates. Give me no info when I show up in person. After getting the manufacturer on the phone while I stand in their store I finally find out Cary Mower didnt do what the manufacturers rep told them to. Cary Mower didnt have the knowledge or equipment to test for the problem. Honesty would have been better than the run around. The manufacturer finally resolved the issue by having me go to another store. Stay clear of this place.

I went to this store to get my mower tuned up and the dual blades sharpened. I told them I had a new filter and would like it returned but to install a new filter since that was included. IV received a call that the Carb needed to be replaced in which I approved. After 2 days I called to see if the mower was ready no response. I then drove to the shop the guy at the front counter mentioned my mower was ready so I paid. He brought it outside and before I loaded the mower I decided to test it. Would not start, I checked my air filter to see if it was new and the blades sharpened and The blades were not sharpened, carb not replaced and my original filter was in the mower. I went in and asked did anyone even touch my mower. the counter guy went to review paperwork and and said he thought it was done but no one worked on it at all for the days it was there just sitting there. Go elsewhere. Used to be a good place under previous ownership. Here are my True Stars count 0. March was the time of my visit. Person I spoke to about my cost and Carb need was a young man Hunter I do believe.

I am not ever the type to leave a review on a business; however I would like to give a quick appreciation to the staff here at Cary Mower and Saw. I just picked up my lawn tractor and chainsaw from their store and stood behind another customer who was terrible to the gentleman behind the counter. While being cursed and yelled at (for something no person should be upset over) the boy used the entire confrontation to try and calm the situation and even continued to try and help the guy screaming at him. Huge class act by the entire staff at Cary Mower for handling the situation and even apologizing to me for thinking I was inconvenienced. I have been a customer since I moved to Cary in 2004 and the service and staff have only continued to improve especially since they are under new ownership. I will be a customer for life!

Not the same service as prior ownership. My local hardware store had a $69 special for mower tune ups, but I decided to take mine to Cary Mower & saw as I had for 20+ years. First clue something was different: rep told me up front theyd charge more if the mower had trouble starting. (Prior owner never said that.) I mean, thats the whole reason folks bring their mowers in after sitting all winter- theyre harder to start! Second, when I got it back, total cost was $150- more than 2x the hardware store tune up cost. I wouldnt mind if it was a good job. But it was horrible. The mower still surges on startup, the blades looked like they had not been removed for sharpening (because there was still caked dried grass all over it ). The blades had sawtooth ragged edges. To add insult to injury, the rep told me they charge extra to clean the deck. Really? It took me all of 15 seconds to pull off the dried grass. Thats pure laziness. Prior owner always returned it clean and with a smooth edge, for NO extra cost. I am really (really) sad about the drop in quality, because I had been going to Cary mower for over 20 years. I am giving it an extra star because the staff was at least polite. But the mechanic service gets a zero.

They fixed my mower without my consent and charged extra for things we never discussed. I was told upfront, Pay a non-refundable $30 to just look at your mower and well call you before we start work on it. I told him its a cheap old mower and may not be worth fixing so please do call. They never called me except to say Its done and the bill is $95. They have no record of who it was that took my order. When I complained he argued saying we cant call because we dont know whats wrong until its done. I said, I have since found others that have the same complaint. He just laughed and said, Its just that time of year. I picked up the mower and they were more polite after seeing my review. They dont do refunds but did a little extra help with the mower itself.

After having a bad experience trying to get a big-box chain saw worked on at a different repair shop, I went to Cary Mower and Saw to look around. While I was there, they provided good advice and direction without pressure, and ended up buying a new Honda mower and a Stihl chainsaw. The Honda Mower was about the same price as I would have spent at a big box but I the service was far superior. Having had a number of consumer level saws over the years, I decided to spend a little more and go for a Stihl. I have used it several times and I am very glad that I made the investment. It was probably 30% more than a consumer-level saw but I am certain that it will last 3X longer.Three weeks ago, my Echo blower was beginning to run poorly when I took it to Cary Mower and Saw. They took a $30 deposit on the repair and told me that it would be a little over a week. The next day, they called me and told me what was needed. A couple days later it was done and it works better than it has in years. When I picked the blower up, they advised me about the fuels to use, the fuels to avoid and about how to properly store my equipment. Since I had already experienced what Ethanol gas can do to to a chain saw, I was grateful for the advice. They dont service all brands and they dont sell low-end consumer products. If you do your own yard work, I would highly recommend Cary Mower and Saw.

I dont understand why we cant give zero stars to businesses that dont deserve one star. The new owner of the shop has no customer service skills. Very rude and unknowledgeable and I will never purchase anything from them again nor have anything repaired by them again. After 4 weeks I still dont have a leaf blower that works and I have contacted steel corporate offices in the United States and in Germany. I hope that this place loses their ability to sell or work on any product by Sthil.

These guys got me up and running quick, they told me it would be about 2 weeks, and it ended up only being a few days to get my mower back, it was about $40 less than the estimate they gave me too! You go in, and they take a $30 deposit, which made me nervous, but then they take it off your bill, the guy behind the counter said it was non-refundable, which I understand, youve gotta keep the doors open, overall, good place to go, Ill go back next time I have a problem.

I called this shop at 11:50am and asked if they service Husqvarna riding mowers. I explained it is not starting and could be bad gas, a battery, plugs, or something else. I was told by the person on the phone yes they can work on it and to bring it in. I drive over here with trailer in tow to meet with a service person that said. “That’s Husqvarna, and it is not turning over. We cannot order parts or even work on them.” I was then told to try someone in Garner which is about an hour away from where I am now.The reason for 1 star is I cannot give 0. Advice to shop, If you don’t work on the brand, don’t have a customer bring the thing to your shop only to be turned away. Horrible service and front office has no idea what the back office does.
