I purchased a townhome that used to be a rental. The drywall was rough. I hired Metcalf to fix the issues in my home and repaint. The work was supposed to occur between Tuesday and Thursday. I came Friday for my inspection. The work quality was poor, there were multiple patches that could be seen and there was destruction to my property. The manager, Mike, said they would fix the work that day and wanted the check. He took the check and left me with the painter to finish the work. The fixes done were just as bad. Luckily I was able to cancel the check. I called the owner the next day who said the issues would be fixed. They worked here for 3 additional days. At the end of the 3rd day I sent a punch list of issues that still need to be completed. I was told that they would not finish the job. I now need to hire a new company to finish the work. I’m extremely angry that I trusted this company with my home. Beware that Mike will lie to you about issues that can’t be fixed but actually can be. I recommend calling a different company.Reply to the company: pictures speak louder than words. I have 100 more photos just like the ones posted. If this is quality work that you are proud of, people need to know. I was very fair in my review as I could have said a lot more.

We have used Metcalf Painting two times now and have been so impressed both times. Eric has been our project manager both times and he is fantastic. He always arrives at the time he says he will and his attention to detail is amazing. Jacob did a great job pressure washing our home prior to the painters starting. He listened to our concerns about certain areas and did a test wash before getting started. Ricardo and the crew of painters were excellent. We had Metcalf paint the exterior of my moms house. They were EXCELLENT!!! I would highly recommend Metcalf. Daniel managed the entire job and he was great to work with, very helpful, flexible, truly went above and beyond. Metcalf painted the exterior of the house, the porch floors and ceilings, foundation, the interior of the garage (walls and ceilings). We added a few things as the painting progressed. We changed the color of the shutters and the gables and the garage door after the first coat was done. Metcalf works with a handyman to take care of miscellaneous items and coordinated everything. They replaced the garage door weatherstripping as we went from cream to white trim. They replaced splash guards. They added a board to fill in the gap between the siding and the porch floor. They took down the fan blades so I can spray paint them. They replaced the front door hardware. We could not be happier. Fernando was the primary painter and he was excellent. I am very picky. Even our neighbors mentioned to us that the painters were very good. We will definitely use Metcalf again in the future.

While it is true that the initial price is not the lowest youll ever find, there are no surprises, no headaches, and no disappointments with this company. NONE. Five Stars is not enough to say how great Metcalf Painting actually is. I have used them to do the entire inside and outside of my home, including wood repairs and power washing the house and concrete surfaces. In the past I have used them to redecorate our business offices. Everything is upfront. Estimates are given in writing, start dates are determined, the crew shows up on time and the job gets done perfectly. There is a project manager assigned to each job making it unnecessary for me to supervise the job. The crew that did my jobs has been together for 18 years and numbers between 6 and 8 members. They all are excellent craftsmen. The crew leader maintains appropriate liaison with me. Furniture and floors to be protected are covered up 100 %. When the job is completed a cleaning person thoroughly cleans the building. There is absolutely no mess left around. They use quality paints and caulking. The pricing is very fair, perhaps a bit more than some but the difference is well worth it in quality and management of the project. Special props to project manager, Steven and to Leslie and her fabulous crew. Metcalf is my painter for life.

Metcalf replaced some rotted wood trim with PVC board. Then they caulked and painted. Great work. What I found really special is that they have the contact come by and inspect the work with the customer before payment. I recommend Metcalf for your painting and home repair needs.

I asked Metcalf Painting for an estimate for staining an outdoor fence. In just a couple of days I had an estimate that was fair, and they scheduled the work in a reasonable time. They came when they said they would come, and the work was careful, efficient and thorough. They matched the stain color I wanted and the fence looks great. Metcalf Painting and Flooring, Cary NC, is an absolute top notch, Grade A painting company. They painted the exterior trim of our home recently and we could not be more pleased with the results. The paint team led by Leslie, did a super job in all regards. They started on time on scheduled start date, used the brand and grade paint we requested. They did excellent prep work including scraping, sanding when needed, re-caulked near everything, primed, and hand cleaned rain streaks off gutters that other companies could not previously remove. Their spray painting and hand brushing were both excellent. The painting was of the highest quality with complete coverage, all straight lines, and no spills/drips. The took great care not to harm the brick areas and all shrubs, and cleared the work site at end of each day. All windows were cleaned after painting was completed. In over 40 years of home ownership, this is the highest skill quality painting crew I have seen in the two states we have lived in.Estimator/Proj Mgr Steven West insured our special requests were addressed, planned and coordinated. Leslies team is just the best, you can tell they are used to working together as a quality team and have a great attitude. This team may be booked up weeks in advance but are worth waiting for.Metcalf also has great, separate support teams for power washing and wood repair/replacement. The power wash crew was coordinated by Steven West to wash the house several days before paint start and the crew used wash chemicals, equipment, and technique that did the job but did not harm any of our numerous shrubs. In a few, special porch areas where it was not feasible from our/homeowner standpoint to power wash, the painters hand cleaned. The carpenter team was synchronized with the paint crew and replaced poor wood in a number of areas that now looks like original trim.This is a top-notch company with good leadership, quality teams, and makes sure the homeowner is pleased with the results.

We used Metcalf to do extensive replacement of our old siding as well as replacement of some warped/rotten boards to our exterior and deck. We then had the exterior painting done and deck stained. Steven provided us with a very specific and understandable quote which he updated a couple of times when additions to the original quote were added. He did not ask for the final payment until after he reviewed the work to make sure everything was acceptable to us. Both his carpentry and painting workers did a great job. Metcalf is not the least expensive contractor out there but as the saying goes, you do get what you pay for!

This is the first time painting the exterior of our house since the builder painted our then-new house over 7 years ago. Weve used Metcalf before for interior painting. With that experience and seeing their work on a multitude of other homes in our neighborhood, I knew this was really the only choice for us.Mike Barbour and his crew were a pleasure to do business with. Mike was very thorough in his free estimate walkthrough. The quality of work and materials used were excellent. Crew was very hard working and professional, working in the hot sun and on 40-50 ladders. A job you definitely would not want to do yourself. We had them paint the house (which includes all siding, trim, doors, and shutters) and re-stain all of our porch decking. Mike also came back out about a week later (due to my scheduling conflicts) to do a walkthrough and final touch ups. Absolutely no payment (not even a down payment) was taken from me until touch ups were complete and I was satisfied.Very pleased, and Ill be calling on Metcalf in the future (which may be a while for the exterior, as Im sure my new paint job will last longer than the 7 years, which I stretched 2 years too long, with the builders paint).
