Great staff... We were on our way to the UGA VS UAB game and needed a clear container to take into the stadium. The cashier used an APP on her phone to make sure it was an acceptable size. This is the best Academy staff Ive had the pleasure to do business with. Also, on the same visit, I got a GREAT DEAL on a pair of ASICS! This is a good store.... Highly recommended!

I was looking to buy a pair of tennis shoes and I asked an employee about what brand was good for what I needed them for and she rattled off one brand and told me where they were on the shelf and which aisle and then I asked her about another brand and again she told me where they were located instead of taking the time away from reorganizing merchandise to walk with me and show me. When she did that for the second time (the brand i asked her about was Brooks, and they are not cheap) I just walked out the door empty handed and figured Academy did not need to make any money, because I was not about to spend $150 for a pair of tennis shoes in a store where their employees were more worried about getting their side work done rather than helping a customer, besides just telling where to look at.

I absolutely love this store it is probably one of my favorite places to go shopping however extra small never really means extra small I dont know an academy sports world what extra small means but it doesnt fit me. And when they have a clearance sale they have a clearance sale I can walk out of there with 4 or 5 Magellan hoodies fishing shirts under armor clothes under armor sportswear for my sons football Nike cleats for 30 bucks. But then sometimes a t-shirt is $65 I dont get it. The staff is mostly friendly nice and helpful some of them I wonder how they find their car in the parking lot at the end of the day LOL.But in terms of finding what I need or what I want I pretty much always can find what I need and what I want. Except for womens boots they need to have a bigger selection of womens cowboy boots hunting boots hiking boots and any other kind of boot you can think of I would love to see more womens boots.

First time there. Needed work boots next day. Shortly after finding the Footwear department, a young lady asked if I needed any help. I explained what I needed, and she immediately started searching with me. What was usually a frustrating, solo effort, became the best experience ever shopping for boots. She listened to me, was attentive, patient, and very helpful. I would highly recommend this location for anything they carry. The customer service is phenomenal!

Great place to find anything sports and outdoors related! Even if I dont have anything I *need* to get from Academy its a great place to just walk around and look at everything they have to offer. I love shopping for summer outdoor toys and pool supplies!

Clean, organized and laid out like all other academy stores. Was in and right out with the products I needed after verifying they had them in stock on their website.

Customer pick up is a little awkward when you order online and pick up in the store. Staff tried to be friendly but standing around waiting for the order was not good

I was very disappointed in my visit. I remember academy had a really good selection and low prices. No scopes were on display, very little fishing reel selection, hardly any kayaks, etc. It just wasnt the same place.

Much cheaper than I thought it was going to be, but I do wish they had a larger selection of golf clubs.

The super nice lady at the front is the best! She always greets you with a big smile and welcoming words. She needs to be rewarded for her efforts!!!

The Cartersville location seems exceptionally talented in catching lvl. 1 hillbilly crooks but if youre at least a level 5 city slicker, bets are still on.

I do a lot of business with academy. Especially with this location. My experience is always pleasant and it was certainly re enforced today. I came in with a complicated return (on my part). Bailey and Keegan were so kind and understanding to my situation and took care of me in full. I cannot praise them enough! The staff is always amazing here but they went above and beyond and far exceeded my expectations. Very thankful for them and as should your establishment.

On the high side for team apparel but still bought bc we are going to see the Braves. Staff very polite BUT the front of the store is very 🔥 hot while cashing out.

First time I visited because I may be taking up fresh water sport fishing and thought I would check out gear. Surprised how reasonable priced the fishing equipment is and a huge selection. There clothe line is of high quality and very hip.

Great customer service.

During this recent run on firearms, for over three months, I was unable to locate the Taurus pistol I was looking for. Each time I asked for guidance on the best approach to use, I was blown off by multiple gun stores and retailers. I then went to the Academy store in Cartersville and a young man in the gun department named Todd guided me on the best way for me to monitor the store’s inventory daily and ultimately was able to purchase a newly arrived gun. After dealing with so many sale people in all types of stores, he was truly a saint in responding to my many questions! Being a senior citizen, he was truly the reason I was able to make this acquisition and I am truly appreciative of his efforts. Despite his store not being the nearest for my sporting goods needs, I will go back as I know they have a great, supportive staff! Thanks, Todd!

In-store pickup after online ordering was a breeze. Kurtis at the welcome area took care of the entire operation. Also, Im thankful that Academy sports is maintaining the pre-COVID prices on weight plates. Got a 45lb olympic plate for ~$55. Its selling for 2 to 3 times more on amazon.com. I really like Academy Sports, the reason Im giving 4 stars is I checked on line for this canopy a 6x6 and it said had one in stock at Cartersville location. We drove up there to get it and they didnt have it.It was about closing time so we didnt ask anyone about it but we stayed over there in the camping section for about 15 minutes looking for it and we never seen any employees so we left.

If I could give a zero to this experience I would. After 3 months of waiting on a replacement for some golf clubs that I needed to exchange (I picked up left handed clubs by accident), my wife and I decided to try to get a refund for my clubs. When I went in to get the refund the manager on site was very combative, at one point calling my wife and I Trump supporters or mumbling something about blame Trump...I’m still not sure what he was even talking about. I also don’t have a clue what this has to do with asking for help regarding our situation. He also mentioned that someone had been waiting on a bike replacement since March. I guess that was supposed to make me feel better? He was very condescending about our situation and offered zero help. The whole experience has been extremely disappointing and not at all what I expect as a customer. We have been loyal customers for years at this branch (Cartersville), but were extremely offended by this manager, whose name was Chris. I don’t ever expect to be treated like this anywhere I chose to spend my money. Chris the Manager needs some serious customer service training. What a joke! Academy, take notice and I suggest you all work much harder to address your customers needs. This whole process has been absurd. I sincerely can’t recall having issues like this with other companies when I need to return something or need a replacement.

The person helping me said he didnt know he didnt really play any sports... nice dont get me wrong just not helpful. (He could have found someone to help me but didnt) but they did have xxs tee ball pants thank God.

Expensive sales clerks not trained on product usage

Fishing department is really the only reason I go. They got a great selection of terminal tackle, soft plastics, also hard baits. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars was due to if your a left handed reel you will have to order it online. Its hard to come across a left hand reel here. Most reels are are all right handed. Thats my only issue. Which really isnt a big deal. You just have to wait a few days to get what you want. Tight lines friends!🎏🎣

Stood at the sunglasses case for 8 minutes, ignored by 2 associates right there. Finally had to make a scene to get help, and it wasnt either of them, someone else noticed my problem... its ridiculous.

I bought my daughter some shoes for Christmas, and when they werent her size, I brought them back to return. I didnt have any problems and management was very helpful. I kept that I mind and after considering somewhere else, came back to try again a few weeks later and found some really good quality shoes at a great price! I found them without help, but the woman working in the department made sure I knew that she was available for anything I needed, and answered some questions I had. My daughter loves her new Nikes. Thanks!

Stopped by Academy while considering a new firearm purchase. The young man behind the counter, I believe his name was Louis, was exceptional. He was knowledgeable and made sure to understand what I was looking for. He made recommendations and was patient and professional as he let me handle the weapons and explained the pros and cons with each. If youre considering a new firearm, stop by Academy and see Louis and his manager Matt. Both gave me excellent service.

Matt carried my item to a buggy and brought it to me while I found a place in line. Awesome young man with a great personality! I will definitely be going back

Firearms... placed order on line to pick up in store. Was notified within 30 minutes my order was ready for pickup. Went to location, gave name and got super service. So, knowledgeable, kind and efficient. Best experience ever with Academy. Have to say in the past had shopped at Hiram location but now the Cartersville has Academy I’ll never return to Hiram. Everyone that attended to our purchase was great. Thank you so much for putting confidence back to customer service. Ten stars would have been better.Martha

We went to get 9mm and 380 ammo but they were out. I did find a pair of Sketchers clearance for 30 bucks. Love Sketchers.

Stock needs improved

Excellent service and overall experience! John was as courteous, helpful and knowledgeable as anyone could ask for. Went to look at fishing stuff and wound up buying a boat, trolling motor, battery and boat trailer as well. Mostly due to the service of a manager who took the time to help us and his staff who were all friendly and eager to be of assistance. I recommend everyone shopping here as often as possible. Good people make the businesses in this town tick and this one seems to run extremely well due largely to the help of an employee named John.
