I have gone to this shop on a few occasions and it was my main shop when I got back into collecting last year. Since the Pokemon card boom this shop has had INSANE mark ups. One time I went in and found an First Partner pack (normally 10 bucks) priced at 40 bucks. I kinda shrugged it off but have noticed over time that more and more of their pokemon items have been disgustingly overpriced. Today was the final straw I went in to see if they happened to have any Celebrations items expecting it to be marked up but when I saw a $20 Celebrations box marked up to $100 dollars I looked at my son and said we had to leave. An employee came running out after me to let me know those items were mispriced. (I agreed with him on that) He let me know those boxes are actually $30 a piece someone just forgot to fix the stickers. Given everything I have seen I have ZERO faith that if I walked back in tomorrow the price tags would read anything other that $99.99. Just avoid this place its really sad they are resorting to scaler prices when they have a direct distribution relationship with pokemon. I will say this the people working in the shop are very nice and not mean about it in any way, its just a shame to see a place with great service held back like this.

Ive gone to this shop a few times to get some cash for some cards mostly pokemon and yugioh. Their cash prices for cards are pretty fair.However my partner and I went to check out their pokemon collection and their markups are INSANE. They have the new chilling reigns Calyrex V boxes for $35 when I bought the same box at Walmart and gamestop for $20. Crazy, I get needing to make a profit but thats just unjustifiable. Hoping to at see an improvement there but otherwise they are super friendly and communicative.

It looks nice with the remodel, but unfortunately their tabletop RPG section is pretty reduced from where it used to be. Seems to cater more to MTG than anything else.

I havent been to a comic bookstore in so long but this place was awesome. The gentleman behind the counter was so helpful and funny. I will definitely be returning.

Awsome place I am constantly looking for someplace like this in Redding if you visited Sacramento and went here you could be thinking hmm I wonder if there is some were like this were I live if so you should try Average Apes Comics and Games.

Shop is too small for the amount of back issues they have. Tons to go through, but the organization was confusing due to lack of room for their boxes.

I went here to buy some pokemon cards and was so pleasantly surprised. Great staff, friendly, cute dog in the shop AND they sold me a pokemon elite trainer box at MSRP. My friends were baffled because theyve paid so much more at other shops for the same product.I will definitely be going here again in the future when I want more cards for my collection.

Was a nice shop but since Pokémon cards have gotten so popular they raised prices to almost double MSRP, big rip off. Used to be a really nice friendly shop. Guy working there was offended when I called em out for scribbling out the price to raise it since I was there 2 weeks ago. Really unfortunate considering they get DISCOUNTS from the wholesale vendors so no reason to rip off loyal customers except greed. Find somewhere else unless you want to pay $6.99 for a single VIV booster or $35 for a V box (was $25 two weeks ago) I just got 1 at target for 19.99 the MSRP. I’ll find a shop that cares about the players and collectors more than quick cash.

One of Sacramento’s established comics and games stores. They’ve been open for over 25 years and continue to offer all the new and old collectibles you may need. Pre-pandemic they were offering weekly tournaments and social events for Magic: the Gathering, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Dragon Ball Super, and plenty of other games, but their play space is closed off for the time being. When it comes to new products, if they don’t carry what you need in store, they can almost certainly order it for you and have it delivered quickly. If older products are your thing, they also carry an extensive back catalog of comics and shelves of vintage trading cards, and just like with the new products, if there’s something particular you need, regardless of age or rarity, they can almost certainly find it for you. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to assist with deck building for games or answering questions about the latest trade paperbacks. When events are being held again, be sure to get there early as parking is limited, but otherwise feel confident about your visit at any time of day!

Just pulled a Starlight Rare and an Ultimate Rare from the new set after buying 2 boxes of Phantom Rage! Every time I buy product from here I pull one of the chase cards!The people are also very nice and welcoming! It is more focused on Comics and MGT but will definitely have the new Yugioh Stuff as well! I would have definitely given a full 5 stars to this place if it did have more Yugioh product.I will definitely be coming back and buying more of the new sets as they are released and playing in their tournaments in the future.

I love this place. Its been open since I was a child, and Im sure this review will definitely reflect some nostalgic love for it, but I dont care.This place has it all. Everything a nerd would want. It has MTG cards, board games, role playing game resources (all rpg books are 15% off), and snacks.In my opinion, they have the best system for card finding. You select from their database and the pick your list and have it ready in minutes.There are other places that may have more extensive stock, but this place is unique in the sense that you can feel its down to earth. It feels less like a shop, and more like that one friends house youd go over to play games with as a child.Avrom, the owner is genuinely is the best shop owner around. My one and only complaint is some of his staff seem.. awkward.Seriously, stop by. Its great.

I gotta show love for this place. It is small and the selection is a bit limited, but they have been around since I was in short pants. Always friendly. Always knowledgeable. They host the games they sell. This store is 1/3 of the game scene in Sacramento.

Awesome place, great selection and very friendly staff. One of the men there even offered and game my daughter coloring books and a few comic to read while her mother and I sifted through the bins finding what we wanted to buy. Highly recommend!

I have been coming here for almost 20 years. There is no other place in town where you will find such a great selection of card games and knowledge. They keep a great selection of table top boxed games and great comics. I highly recommend it if you are a MTG player. And I highly recommed it even if you just want some comics or games. The owner is amazing and he always keeps bright and courteous staff.

Was in for magic. They opened early for a pptq (which I couldnt attend due to work) and had plenty of staff to help me and manage the tournament at the same time. Ordering is nice because you can use the in store computer to get an exact price, but the best part was their price on dragon sleeves. Best in town for sure.

They have an amazing website & the best prices Ive ever seen on Pokemon cards! They also have a super cool Simpsons Japanese gachapon machine thats worth checking out 😁 10/10 would recommend.

This is awesome. Ive been wanting to check it out. They have a very unique computer index system. You type in the card and it pulls up a data base of their inventory. So you can grab certain editions if available. You can order from home and have them shipped or in-store pickup. This is something thats great for last minute deck builds. Staff was very helpful and friendly.. I will be back later this week.

Quaint and eclectic. The shopkeeper baby talks his dog WAY to loud and organized match play is a little disorganized. Make sure you lock in how Prizes are awarded before you buy in as they changed durring my last match play.

A nice small store. What puts me off from this store is that they have this computer system for shopping in the store for their collection, the system is nice in theory but from what I have noticed the employees look lazy this way. When I walk in a store I expect customer service not a computer screen for me to shop on.UPDATE: Ive been in the store a couple of times and considering their system the customer service is excellent. Still dont like the computer thing in the store but thats just personal preference.

The worst insensitive human being I have EVER come across!!!! Blading guy in his 50s that wore glasses. Tore my son down for bringing in cards that didnt meet his standards. Made my son feel completely embarrassed and made him cry. 10 years old doesnt understand the value and conditions of cards. And we dont know either so we took him to a store to figure it out. You are truly a human being that should find compassion especially to children. I have never seen my son so upset. You could have simply gotten on his level and said hey buddy we cant buy your cards but there are other places that might be able to take them instead he said you see this hole, why would you try and sell this? Its worth nothing. And if you got these cards in the mail would you be happy with the condition? Thank you for tearing my 10 year old into pieces!!! All he was trying to do was learn about cards and find ways on how to make money. I would give this place a zero. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! They dont know real customer service. Plus we drove 20 miles just to get here. Out of our way to support our child.

Its like it was a house before and then they blew out all the walls and poof theres a comic/game shop. Cool cool. Definitely check it out. They dont have huge stock on some issues but thats fine. They will special order what you want like most places.

The very experience work staff helped me a ways I never conceived imaginable. Introduce me to new gaming experiences. They were very knowledgeable about many games and accessories that I had questions about. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

Ive been coming here for many years and always have had a positive experience regardless of the game I was playing at the time. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Always greeted when I walk in. They usually have a great stock on singles for Magic and Pokémon. This store really shows its appreciation to its player base with different special tournaments and player appreciation days.

Ive been coming here for over a decade. And no matter where I live or how far I have to drive, I make it a point to stop by if Im ever in the area or if I need something specific. Their customer service has always been outstanding and Avrom is such a nice guy!

Just went for the first time. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Pokémon selection was good! Packs, boxes, and singles. Definitely coming back a lot! Lastly, They seem to specialize in MTG.

Great atmosphere and people. Went to an Ixalan draft on Christmas Eve, and it wasnt too packed. Great place for drafting MTG, amazing selection of other cards and games, as well as comics. However, for card game supplies, prices can be beat elsewhere.

Alright, so, the main owner is a bit quirky and unconventional in his customer service methods by 2017 standards but the shop is great, prices are great and I love the community it brings together for events and card competitions. Five stars to support the biz.

Really like the online order system, I just wish theyd prepull it if youve paid already. It can take them a very long time to pull cards while youre there since their collection is so big and they go at their own pace, but they are all very nice guys!

This is a great local shop, great TCG prices, comics and games. But the best part is the management! Avrom and Anton are great guys and have impacted the community and the people who patronize them in a great positive way. They have created a harmonious space for akward people who really need somewhere to feel comfortable and play games. Its cluttered musty and a local nerd landmark/watering hole. Its awesome, I love this place!

Theres never a reason to GO here, unless you can walk there. Its actually cheaper and faster to buy online and pay shipping than it is to go in the store and pay credit card fees.I called ahead about a MTG tournament to make sure everything was good to go. I get there and Im the ONLY one there, so they just say too bad. They could have told me that they werent expecting anyone when I called. Terrible service, poorly updated calendar of events, uninformed staff. They do have a very organized store, but you might as well just buy online.

The place is great and has everything your looking for, but beware going on days they have card tournaments. We drove up and from outside you couldnt tell how many people were inside. Soon as we walked in though the smell from dozens of unwashed sweaty dudes hit my nostrils. Place was packed shoulder to shoulder with people all hunched over playing Magic. Im not against the game and enjoy it myself. I just dont get how some people dont know what showers or deodorant is

I havent actually shopped here. My experience has been to deliver their daily shipments. I delivered for roughly 13 years to this location. The employees have always come outside to greet me and start carrying in the heavy loads. They have offered cold drinks on hot days. This may seem trivial, but Ive literally delivers to thousands of businesses over the years, and its rare that the owner sends out employees to give a helping hand. That should be an indicator of the service they provide to all their guests.

Came for a dbs pre release sealed draft. Couldn’t last longer than 8 minutes in the store. I even signed up, was about to pay. Then stood there, like—can I really last in this room? The stench was too damn high. Like, we all know the stank of a card game player, or the smell of any convention center for nerdom. But holy hell, my eyes began to water! I had to go outside and smoke a cigarette. But... that clear air made me realize, I have to much respect for my health—than force myself into that festering dung pile of human stench. I bet this place is as nice as they say, but I’ve smelled homeless shelters and soup kitchens that smelled better than that. So until they invest in a better air system, or have a basic hygiene minimum to enter sign—i won’t go back.Hope you the best in the future, but damn; it’s a shame your loyal customers are the reason you won’t get future revenue from potential customers. Maybe I’m wrong... but buy some glade plugins guys... like a costco 20 pack.

Pretty limited selection of RPGs and I was going to ask someone for help but since no one stopped playing whatever game they were playing to even greet me when I walked in I had no idea who to approach.

A little bit smaller than the other local hobby stores however what they lack in size they make up for in knowledge and experience. I have been there only a few times but I have got excellent service and I have enjoyed my time there.
