They had other food here so we decided to grab lunch for later. We got the ice cream pretty quick from a very stoic and unenthused cashier. Then we proceeded to wait another 15 minutes for this depressing turkey sandwich even though it wasnt even that busy

Drove here after the caverns. There is only 3 employees and man are they hard working and as fast as they possibly can be. They are so kind. The food is good, the icecream is even better. Definitely worth the stop.

Kinda split on this one. Went there on July 11th to grab dinner and let the kids get some ice cream. Wait for food was going to be over 45 minutes and multiple tables were already asking for refunds so we went elsewhere for dinner. Came back after for ice cream. The kids loved the ice cream and the wait wasnt bad at all.

It was my first time coming to this place & Im so glad I did. It deserves waaayy more than 5 stars. I visited Kaleidoscoops with my fiance, mother. We had ordered Catfish, Crispy chicken salad, and a Burger w/ Cheese tots. Really fresh food! Everything was amazing. 👏 The salad we had received was well worth the money! You wont be disappointed coming here. The staff are very helpful & polite. There was seating outside which was nice at the end of a long day. We also had dessert. Superman waffle cone, Rocky road M&ms waffle cone, Strawberry Cheesecake waffle cone ice cream. All employees were wearing masks. I will be returning here when i am visiting again!!!

A Carlsbad staple! Good fast food but GREAT ice cream scoops and treats. They also have a bunch of cakes and other stuff too. Decent sized patio for COVID times. And shoutout to the HS kids working there—they do a really good job!

Although we were 2nd in line we waited about 10min before getting to order. When we got to the counter to order the guy came up and then just stared at us. With him saying nothing, we decided to just tell him what we wanted. He spoke so quiet and would never speak up, we had to ask him to repeat several times. We then sat down about 10 minutes later we had to get up to ask for our drinks. Once our food came out the chicken was overdone, the gravy was liquidy and didn’t have taste, the burger didn’t have bacon on it even though we paid for it. Both of our fries weren’t cooked all the way.And we had to go to three tables before we found a ketchup bottle with ketchup in it.This business has so much potential if only the owner cared.

Good place for ice cream, thats what my wife and I went for. Most of the ice cream in the display didnt have any label or was labeled wrong which takes more time for the order because we had to ask what every flavor we were interested in was. But other than that they had really friendly staff and the establishment was pretty clean.

Fun place, with an extensive menu. There are several freezer cases with a wide choice of ice cream flavors. The waffle cones arent just made in house, but cooked in a waffle maker in front of you (then chilled a couple minutes in a freezer to avoid melting the ice cream too quickly).They make all kinds of shakes, floats, and sundaes too. The menu has lots of different sandwiches (Reuben!) as well as burgers and hot dogs. Theres a big kids menu too.Some tables inside, with a large covered patio (with ceiling fans) outside.

The kaleidoscoops near our hometown closed so when we came on vacation to carlsbad I was thrilled to have found this one that even offered food! The ladies behind the counter were very kind and sweet. Loved the outside seating area with lots of beautiful potted plants. The variety of ice cream is unmatched in any other ice cream chain! We had a great time and our food was delicious!

Three big scoops of ice cream on a homemade waffle cone. This place has more different kinds of ice cream than any other in Carlsbad. Estimated to be at least 30 different flavors. They make fresh cones while you wait for your ice cream. The crispiness of the cones very its kind of Hit or Miss depending on the server at the time. However the ice cream is first class.

There is a sign on the door complaining that due to the economy they cant get help, so you have to be patient. The reality is the ice cream display is dirty and the flavors are not labeled. Come on owner, quit blaming everyone else and step up to the plate, clean it up and take time to label your ice cream. I personally would not want to work for you, and thats the reality if it which has nothing to do with the economy. Dirty, Ewww.

Usually great service and great food. Waited in drivethru for over an hour went in finally got service food was then put on top of a cooler getting even colder. Said I wasn’t going to pay full price for hour old, cold food. Girl disappeared for another 10 minutes comes out and ignores us and starts helping other customers. Sorry y’all. But I will not be going back. I would have stayed there while they remade the food but being ignored was the last straw. But go and try the food maybe you will be treated better.

The 3 years weve resided here, it been great! Love the banana splits! I always get the traditional and this place is never greedy with toppings. Always friendly and fast service. When my wife has a complicated order they always accommodate. Hats off to kaleidoscoops! Love it.

The best cookies n cream ice cream Ive ever had. It was different than others because it was a little salty but perfect! All the kids and my husband loved it and the waffle cones are homemade and large 😋 so good! Wosh we lived closer. Oh, and the staff was nice lol

This place has great food and the best ice cream in town. Its pretty expensive but the food is good and its almost like a home cooked meal.The last couple of times we have gone they were out of a LOT of ice cream but I wasnt even mad. It kind of forced me to try something different.

I had ordered an ice cream and there was SPIT in the bowl. I am so DISGUSTED!! One of the workers gave horrible attitude. How can they let their workers continue to act like this? This is out of hand. Everyone I know that has gone to Kaleidoscoops experienced awful behavior from the manager and employees.

I went to Kaleidoscope for the first time yesterday. The woman that came to me and gave me a quick run down of many of the items they sale. She suggested that the hamburgers were very popular and filling. After asking about a couple of items I settled on the cheeseburger. They have a 6 oz and 8 oz burger. I ordered the 8 oz. When the burger came it was a double hamburger. It was much bigger than expected. It was too big to actually fit in my mouth. The burger was good but the tomato was mushy and the onion was just the end. Will I go back again, probably. They serve burgers, sandwiches, finger foods, and ice cream. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable.

Totally disappointed in this place. Over priced ice cream store is all it is. 6 scoops of ice cream for $20? No thank you. And the ice cream tasted like a mixture of other ice cream flavors. Went in at 7:00pm and was rushed like they were closing. My daughter wanted a cone dipped in chocolate and sprinkles and they acted like it couldn’t be done and she left sad. I can’t believe I actually paid for this. Next time I’ll just go to Walmart and buy ice cream and scoop it out myself.

Great ice cream, good grill menu, best Reubens ever! Staff is primarily young and fairly friendly and efficient. The property is very clean, white bench seating, and clean outdoor seating. It is a happy place to be, good food, very clean establishment, ice cream, people enjoying ice cream, children and families everywhere. It’s a fun to simply sit and soak in children enjoying ice cream ... simple pleasures.

I came in expecting a normal root beer float with my dad. The majority of the staff was 16~, but oh well. I order my root beer float, and wait about 10 minutes. They tell us the root beer machine broke as they were filling it in, so they CONTINUED FILLING IT IN WITH COKE. I get my float around 15-20 minutes after ordering, no apology or anything, to find it filled with:1. Ice/water2. Vanilla Ice Cream3. Coke4. Root beerThank goodness I have a Dairy Queen where I live in Glen Rose, Texas.

Great traditional sandwich and ice cream eatery in Carlsbad. This restaurant holds a lot of surprises. The facility offers outdoor and indoor seating; not comfortable but functional. The menu is a surprisingly extensive list including breakfast burritos, sandwiches, chili, fish, and dessert treats. The service is generally efficient; you order/pay at the counter, and they bring your order to your seat. The burgers were arguable the best burgers I’ve had in a very long time: juicy, fresh, stacked perfectly and wrapped. The fries and the onion rings were cooked perfectly. We had shakes and a sundae, and all were fantastic. The prices were very good. Overall, I’d rate this as a high value for price, choices, and quality. Highly recommended eating spot in Carlsbad.

Please learn how to properly cook your bacon... Everytime we order from here and get anything with bacon on it, its always pink, soft, squishy, and never cooked all the way. Ive asked to have it cooked longer and it still always comes out pink, soft, and squishy.

Okay, this place is really good for a few reasons. Obviously, they have really good ice cream choices that are high in quality. The surprising part is how good their food is! They make tasty cheeseburgers, incredible waffle fries, and (our favorite) the beef flips!

Ive been here a couple times and had the same experience both times. It is a cool building that looks like its out of the 60s and the signage is very inviting. However the service has been very poor both times, there were plenty of people behind the counter but they were more interested in talking to each other than helping customers. The ice cream is not labeled and I felt like I was intruding to ask what the flavors were. And the place is a bit dirty, it could really use some soap and water. The prices should be ok, but given the level of service they are too high. I love ice cream and will drive out of my way to get some, but Im not sure if Ill stop here again even when Im driving by.

Horrible experience. Waite over an hour for our food and still had to wait on my tots. My bacon cheeseburger had no bacon and the staff really didnt give a damn about fixing or even offer to refund me the money for my bacon. Good luck

We went here just for ice cream, and I wasnt super impressed. I got a chocolate and peanut butter one and a caramel one, and while I could tell that the flavors probably were okay at one time... both tasted freezer burnt. It was almost like they had been sitting in the freezer for a long time. Ive heard the food here is good, so I may go back to try that, but I dont think Ill go back for ice cream again.

By far not the best kaleidoscope I’ve ever been to. They do not carry tiramisu at this location which is my all-time fave 😭 I got a Jamocha Joe tasted nothing like coffee very bland flavor.. going to try yum yum yogurt!

Nice little ice cream parlor in this one horse town desert town, that has great friendly service with a smile. Kaleidoscoops even offer hot bites for a dine alone, even great for the family. Indoor and outdoor seating is available, no time to sit in and dine, I am sure they would take a call in order and pick up at their drive through. And.....Ice Cream Cake and that is enough said.

I visited this ice cream shop with my three children in late March, 2018. We arrived about 8:30 pm and the lines were long for ice cream and diner food dinners. It seems to be a community place, as we were joined in line by local police and emergency responder crews on a break. The crowd was friendly and appeared to gather there often. The ice cream selection was good—presented in the traditional Baskin Robbins’ barrels-behind-glass presentation. The kids were happy with their cones, shakes, and ice cream dishes. We enjoyed indoor seating at shallow wooden-seat booths, but there was also outdoor seating available along the street. Parking was plentiful in an empty lot on one side of the building. If I’m not mistaken, the building had a drive-through window, but I don’t remember seeing staff service the window inside.

My family had a great time at this throw-back ice cream shop / cafe. Place looks old school and suites it well; service was friendly and prompt. Great selection of ice cream flavors and the flavors and textures were amazing. Would recommend the Candy Bar ice cream.

Consistently terrible service. I used to keep going back despite having terrible service because the food is darn tasty. However, after the last time I will never be returning. Blatantly lied to about receiving the wrong ice cream and being told the ice cream I asked for wasn’t out for sale at this time, when it clearly was (kind of confusing but it’s a difficult and boring story, point is instead of saying, “sorry I gave you the wrong ice cream,” a young man and lady lied to me to try and convince me not to ask for the kind I asked for initially. Then I get home with my order and my wife’s milkshake is just some cold milk. Not familiar enough with milkshake making to know why but it was disgusting and the worst tasting milkshake I’ve ever had. Just one small instance after around 7/8 times I’ve been there. With each time a different terrible service experience and food that is almost worth the abuse. If you can handle overpaying for a gamble on getting good food and certainly getting your order wrong or untimely or just plain rudeness, then I highly recommend.
