Not many places left to buy sporting good around here. Found a good deal on a horseshoe set. Get the kids out of the house and play some real games and get away from youtube.

At times I find what Im looking for weather it be shoes, sports items and camping stuff. I go when things are on sale. Always good to get gift certificates for birthdays too.

This Big 5 is just like any other. Didnt have much inventory due to their recent sale. We found only 1 life jacket that was my daughters size. She didnt like it. I told her I was going to buy it because we could always return it if she didnt really, really like it🤭🤣Now she loves it 💝

The store has a good amount of product variety. Id like to see more womens casual work out wear and sports bras though. Good shoe dept.

Great experience today. I called over the phone to hold a large item. The woman had 2 versions of the product to choose from. Paid for it and came back later with my SUV with easy pickup at front door. Great price and less than amazon!

This place is awesome! Got my kids soccer gear from here recently.The staff is very helpful, attentive srrvice.They have a decent selection of just about anything for outdoor sports.Would recommend for your basic sporting good needs.

This location is understaffed and overstuffed, however, the two employees that helped us were very helpful and efficient. My dad and I needed a weight bench and called to make sure it was in stock. Once we were helped, the employee even hoisted it into the truck for us! I just felt horrible that they didnt have a moment to catch their breath. I get it that the internet is hitting these stores hard, but make up your mind: staff it adequately or close it down. Again, the employees that were working were amazingly helpful.

This particular location is a prime example of why Amazon make so much money. I mean hey maybe you want to go into a store and be completely ignored and then once you finally get someones attention to get absolutely no help whatsoever cause its just not cool to know anything about what the place that pays you sells. UGH!

Typical big box store. Lots of inexpensive stuff, customer service not so much.

Big 5 is the one stop sporting goods shop on 41st avenue... I recommend people go to play it again sports which is locally owned and sells used goods for a fair price as well, but big 5 has a larger selection of all new goods. Great place to shop.

Surprisingly helpful staff, easy to find a pair of wrestling shoes for my son at a fair price. I was impressed by the staffs ability to work around the peculiarities of some of the shoppers who were in the store at the time we shopped there. It is nice to have several options for sporting goods in Santa Cruz.

Good place for shoes and athletic equipment. Its hard to beat the prices. The employees were very helpful finding soccer cleats for my kids.

I came here with my fiancee to get him some fishing gear and I came away with some of the cutest yoga pants and matching sports bra like ever ☺️ I never knew they carried clothing really. Feeling cute and happy

This place is a Big 5. If youve been to a Big 5 anywhere else youve been to this store. As a Big 5 you should only go on the weekend when theyre running their weekly sales. I can usually find some good camping stuff. Bought one of my favorite pairs of running shoes there too!

Great prices on hiking shoes for my daughter. Would go again for that right there.Did have a hard time finding rain gear for her though, which is why we originally went.

Warning, anyone can look into the dressing room when you are changing! I just went shopping for some sports bras and realize there was somebody standing right above the dressing room they had a complete view inside. Yikes!

The staff at the adult counter, gun/ammo are super friendly and helpful with service and answers. If they do not have a answer they will make sure you get one before you leave.

Its incredibly crowded and confusing in there but they have an incredible amount of stuff, so give it a shot. The thing youre looking for might be stuck in some random corner.

No assistance from employees - they were chatting and hanging out. The changing room is below a walkway with no roof... It seemed a bit strange. Otherwise they have an ok selection and a large variety of equipment. The shoe section looked pretty large and it looks like they might sell hunting rifles/shotguns.

They have tons of nice shoes there! The prices are very reasonable as well!

They have everything you could think of in terms of sports gear/apparel. Maybe too much. The store is crowded and hard to navigate through, and its always messy! They always claim that theyre short staffed when I ask about the mess or lack of service, but it happens every time I go in there so idk what the answer is. Pricing is worth going in, good savings.

This is a great Big 5 store. The store is large, and packed with interesting items. The two staff members I met were helpful and cheerful.

Believe it or not I buy most of my shoes here.

Its a bit pricey here for me but it is worth if for the quality of products that they carry. The staff is very attentive and always noticed when I needed some help.

This is the worst Big 5 I have ever been to. There is not that many people to help you. The store is always cluttered with boxes and nobody knows where anything is!

You can find great deals if you search for them the service is great when there are people available which is not all the time but most of the time

Got what we came for. The store layout is a bit cramped and there were very few employee s to help at 10am.

They always have shoes in my size and I can be in and out in ten minutes. A normal place in kooky Santa Cruz.

The few times Ive been in here, the staff never offers or is available to help. I had to use a lacrosse stick to get a sleeping back off the top shelf.

Cramped store, ok selection, limited staff when I visited. With that said, I got what I wanted and left, cant complain too much.

I shop here once in awhile for anything from shoes to camping and fishing gear. Usually pretty good deals and the staff are typically friendly.
