I was very pleased with my experience with Better Builders. I had been working with Upright Fencing who failed to follow through with what they said and what I needed. I was given the recommendation to try Better Builders, they were very quick to get my estimate done, any questions I had were answered, the work was done just the way I wanted with quick, professional service. I will be sure to send the word out to others.

Not a positive review...After spending almost $1000.00 for planter boxes, I found the workmanship to be shoddy at best. The planters were not square and flimsy, several of the side boards had to be put back into placed after just moving them. Once the boxes were stained and filled (again having to be repaired after moving them) they began to bow and after the first rain two of them exploded (the front and sides expanded outwards). When the attempt was made (and there were several) to have someone come out to assess the situation, we still have yet to see anyone. I have been told that I put to much dirt in them???? They are planter boxes, which is what I described when the order was placed. I wont be returning to Better Builders Fence for any business and I suggest that anyone else avoid them as well!!!After several attempts to have BBF come out to solve the problem, my requests fell on deaf ears, in fact I was told that I put TO MUCH dirt in them, my question to that is this...If you wont come out and inspect the failure of your workmanship how can you tell me I put to much dirt in them?

Oct 21, 2012 Update.Time heals. Yes we had problems with communication and installation. But I would be doing a disservice if I didnt update this review. I have had no further contact with Better Built Fence, so they didnt influence my update.Our fence is still straight and true. It hasnt shifted or moved in the last 4 years. It has proven to be a very sturdy and durable fence. Its still bright and shiny white after all this time. Overall excellent.I didnt like how our installation went, but I have no problem with the quality of the work and materials used. Maybe theyve changed their ways. Its a company worth looking at if you need a quality fence job.--- written back in 2008, below ---We wanted a privacy fence for one side of our yard. We called Home Depot who contracts through a local installation company. I also stopped by Better Builders Fence on Michigan Ave in Canton. I had driven by their shop for years. After we received estimates from both, we decided on Better Builders because we had a better vibe from the estimator. We were promised an installation team who would take care of our plants and do their best to preserve what we had. We waited several weeks for the building permit to come back from the city. This wait is expected. We called before we left for vacation asking when they thought theyd be out. They didnt have a permit yet so they couldnt offer us a date yet. I said Id call when we returned and check then.When we returned from vacation we found our old fence removed. (Fine, we paid for that.) And some of my wife shredded plants in the driveway. No call to tell us they were coming, nothing. We had a small tree which needed moving. We called the office they assured us they would help move this tree for us. The installers idea of moving this tree was by cutting it down. My wife stopped them just before they did. The install crew refused to move the tree. My wife dug up the tree. Also, our detail oriented install crew would stand on the plants they werent crushing with the fence then say, Sorry, theyll grow back. They simply didnt care about anything except getting that fence installed and getting out of there.We knew we were going to lose some plants. Thats fine. But these guys did absolutely nothing to preserve anything we had. If they could have at least warned us so we could move things, just a knock on the door. We were home. They were rude and the office while not rude did zero to satisfy us. We really didnt ask for much.Hows the fence? Its fine. It seems to be installed straight. Its a good looking product. This vinyl fence is not unique to BBF. Many companies install this brand. BBF pricing average.Pros:-Fence installed ok.-Gate works well.-Nice looking.Cons:-What they promised as far as service they didnt deliver.-The office promised their installers would help us move a tree. The installers said no. Office and installers dont agree.-They never called to set up an appointment. They just showed up.-The office and the installers didnt care if we were happy or not. They just wanted it done.-They dont care about customer service.-Follow up to see how we like it? Yeah, right.-I sure hope I dont need to use my 5 year warranty.Im rating them average because the fence is installed and good looking. They could have picked up another star by just being nice to us. And 2 stars for a modest effort in customer service.
