Ive never seen any fish as beautiful as the ones I got from New Deal! The tuna and salmon I got were very delicious, and definitely sashimi-grade. Price is on the high side, but definitely worth it for some of the freshest fish Ive ever had.

Carl, Michael are the best. They sell nothing unless its fresh. One of very few places you can get good quality sashimi grade fish. Anything special such as 6 to 8 shrimp can be ordered. The establishment is super clean.

I found the shop online after a not so good experience with another shop. I walked in and was pleased with the seafood counter & food shelves as well as their current 3 person in the store policy during these times.A man named Carl helped me, explained the different seafood and cooking supplies, cleaning and cooking tips. He was polite and knowledgeable. As I was checking out he informed me that he was the owner.Since then I’ve eaten 6 of the 7 different kinds of fish and seafood that I bought that day. Everything so far has been nothing short of fabulous.Great friendly and knowledgeable service with quality product. I will definitely be making this a regular stop!

I was making a bouillabaisse as a gift for my mothers birthday and I needed fish bones and parts to make a stock. Bouillabaisse is virtually 100% based on how good the soup bar is, so this is crucial. I live south of Boston and after calling a dozen fresh fish markets, this was the only place I could get what I needed. Why? Apparently no one cuts their own fish anymore. I had to drive nearly an hour to find a place that cuts their own fish.. What the...Anyways.. They have a great selection of seafood that changes all the time. I called ahead and was able to get several varieties ready to be picked up the next day. It took me 3 days to make the stock and I had no idea how it would turn out. When we all ate it, everyone was floored and agreed the broth was the key.So if you want a place that really does fish, this is one of the few left. Fortunately they are great!

I needed a whole fresh fish to make sashimi for my bf and they told me which one was good. I bought a fish that we dont have in Japan, but their recommendation, Orata, was perfect for Sashimi. We were super happy with the result. I love this place because their people are friendly and knowledgeable. And yes you can get raw oysters here. Highly recommend for sushi sashimi grade fish. Will visit again.

Their system in place for Covid is pretty weak, you’re waiting for what feels like ages and when you get in the (at least the one I had) workers are short with you. I got salmon and some shrimp and the shrimp was supposed to be deveined but apparently it was unknown the veins are both under and on top. They only got the on top... it saved me no time and the shrimp looked actually spoiled... bad experience. Salmon was okay.

Loved this place when I lived in Cambridge. I went almost every week. These guys are super knowledgeable and passionate when it comes to fish. Theyre great to ask for cooking advice or specific instructions with the fish you order. This would probably be my most highly recommended spot in Cambridge. Love, love, love.

I enter this shop just for curiosity in 2007 - I was living close by and wanted to prepare fish for dinner. Today, 11 years later, I still buy my fish there - and I am not living that close anymore. It is by far the best fish around and the customer service is outstanding!!! When you enter you will not only fresh fish (even for sushi), but tons of recipes, and a community feeling. Simply the best!

I came here for the first time a few weeks ago for Red Snapper.and let me tell you i was not at all disappointed! The fish was VERY FRESH! they had a few different sizes to choose from as well. I was so pleased with my buy. I will DEFINITELY Be Back!

Definitely the best fish market Ive been to in the Boston area. Affordably considering the quality, and a wide selection of product! There was also great produce that matched dishes that you could prepare with all their seafood.

One of the only places in Boston where you can buy frozen squid ink packages. The only issue is that they close on Sunday but apart from that you can find good stuff here.

New Deal is the hands down best fish and seafood store I have ever encountered. The quality of their fish is always excellent. Ive also had great experience with their scallops and oysters. But most of all, it is the fact that this is a family owned business, where recipe suggestions and selection advice are always available, that keeps me coming back.

Oh how I miss this place. I moved away and have had trouble finding the quality of fish and great service. I would always go here to get fish for sushi. I told some friends about this place and they have had great experiences as well. The hours are great for picking up stuff after work (ask for ice to keep the fish cold).I moved again and I found an good place in North Providence which reminded me of New Deal. But realistically, New Deal is one of a kind!

We read about this place online and had to go try it. The mussels we got there werent expensive but they were all live and opened beautifully. The layout at the store is great and they have something to pair with whatever youre serving for a great meal. Id highly recommend them. Freshest fish around to cook at home!

Superbly fresh sea food. Boss (i presummed hes the boss - man in 50s) gave very good recommendations on types of fish, clams and lobster. Prices are not super cheap but def value for money. With that kind of quality, simple cooking made it a gourmet dinner at quarter of the price if had at a swanky reaturant...

The staff goes above and beyond every time I shop there. Most importantly, the fish is always fresh and first-rate. Go there. Now!

I was looking for Chilean sea bass and fortunately they did not have it. They suggested Hake a another firm fish and it was delicious and much cheaper. I will be a new regular.

They are my go-to for fresh fish and seafood. Aside for a good variety and skilled preparation, they also holds hard to find Italian and Asian products (such as typo 00 flour, passata... And then real wasabi paste, etc). Their sushi grade tuna is fantastic. Prices are moderate, but you can get a bargain sometimes.
