The staff at Good News is incredibly friendly and honest. I took my vehicle in for a strange noise coming from the wheels, which they found the cause of but when I picked it up I discovered that it was still coming from a few of the wheels. They took the car back in to resolve the rest of the issue and had it fixed by the end of the day. The part that really won me over is that they didnt charge me for any of the extra labor which I feel pretty confident in assuming that any other garage would have. Slip ups like that happen to the best of us but its real mark of character when you own a mistake and go the extra mile to do right by your customer.

We came all the way from albany ny on a very important medical appointment for my mother, we were very stressed and the last 5 miles my tire had a nail in it, and they took me right away. Great charity and they do lots of great work. People can donate cars but money donations are needed as well to repair the cars before they are given to someone in need. We posted their information for people to donate to when my son, who was a mechanic, suddenly passed away on April 20. I brought a used car in for the blue plate special, and I had a limited amount of time to get it back to the dealership.The garage was very accommodating in getting my car checked out as quickly as possible despite having other jobs to do, and they finished the complete and thorough inspection of everything in less than a couple hours.I received a clear, detailed report about everything that is both right and wrong with the vehicle, as well as a few things that might be weird. They made sure to talk through everything with me in detail, and dive into anything I had questions about. They also went above and beyond in telling me what to expect in terms of repairs if I were to purchase the vehicle.Will definitely be going back there again.

My car made very loud noise when I drove in a low speed. I felt very unsafe. I called Good News Garage. They said they can help me take a look immediately. After their exam, they found my brake have issues and I have to repair immediately. Otherwise, it will be very dangerous to drive as it was. And it needs a couple of hours. But I have to pick up my kids at 3:00PM. They said they would try their bests to feed my needs. They put 2 people to work on my car and made it work out. And I was able to pick up my kids on time. Great Service is Good NewsThe Good News team really know cars. My 15-year-old Volvo S40 still hums along thanks to their deep knowledge in diagnostics and their skillful repair. They are honest in letting you know when major repairs are needed, clear in describing whats needed to effect the repair, and superb in carrying out the repair. On the other hand, they dont repair or replace stuff that doesnt need fixing (yet). They will provide a watch list of issues to keep an eye on, and only recommend repair or replacement of a worn part when its time. I recommend them unreservedly.

Wonderful experience! Went to the Good News Garage for the first time last week, after a friend recommended them, and I can tell you I will be going back for years to come. They are a knowledgeable, helpful, and honest team. They gave us a run-down of everything wrong with the car, from suspension issues to scratches in the paint, and were honest about what needed to be fixed now and what issues could be safely put off until later. The name Good News Garage is a tough one to live up to, but they certainly do. I cant recommend this shop enough. They are, honest, professional, reasonable, fast, and friendly. Ill get little routine things done lots of places, but for any serious work, I always go straight to Good News. They are ridiculously knowledgeable and efficient, and always give spot on advice as far as which repairs are urgent, and which can wait a bit - or be skipped entirely! Cant beat their prices, and theyre just great guys. Note that they stay busy, so make an appointment if you can, or be prepared to leave your car until they can get to it. Highly recommended.

I love every part of my interactions with Good News Garage. They never cease to make me laugh on the phone and at the desk. I completely trust that they are taking care of my car - not only what I am concerned about, but what they suspect in terms of other issues. They charge reasonable fees and they always offer options on what can be done, often breaking work down into what should be done immediately and what can wait. I tend to be a car hypochondriac, which many garages could easily take advantage of, but the staff at Good News makes sure to cheerily roll their eyes when I ask about something that is definitely not an issue with my car at that time (though they do take the time to check on even the wackiest of my worries). They are often busy (since everyone in Cambridge and further seems to want in on the Good News Garage action), but I think they are absolutely worth the wait if you have car trouble.

Cannot exaggerate how positive my experience at Good News Garage was. Despite the ineptitude of the tow truck drivers who brought my car, and the fact that I forgot to call ahead, their service was swift, has been reliable, and involved no price gauging. The price they quoted was below what the internet said I would pay, and they didn’t try to pedal unwanted repairs onto my car. I will certainly come back if my car has any other issues, god forbid.

Took my car there for a UBS light on my dash Board. The mechanic told me that it was a fuse that he fixed but then he told me I needed brakes....an oil change....etc. When, I took my car to Meineke , they told me that I didnt need new brakes....???

I was looking forward to bringing my 2005 Hyundai Tucson into the cartalk garage. I had a P0133 and suspected it needed an exhaust manifold and gasket (I had used some soapy water and a shop vac to check it myself beforehand and was pretty confident about this). I had already replaced the upper O2 sensor myself.I called to make an appointment and was simply told to bring it in next Wednesday, no time, just in the morning. I brought it in at about 10:30am and said I had an appointment. Everyone was having a break and immediately shot back with attitude about, who told you to bring it in at 10:30? I was told that they wouldnt have time most likely to look at it that day since it was so late. No problem, I didnt need the car and could leave it.Once they looked at it they told me that they smoked it and didnt see any exhaust or intake leaks. They recommended replacing the upper O2 sensor. I mentioned that I had just replaced it. He suggested replacing it with an OEM sensor, suggesting it was NGK. I told him Bosch is OEM and thats what I used. Then he suggested that I may need to replace them both, thats hes seen issues when they arent replaced in pairs. He could replace the upper sensor with Hyundai OEM for $300. When I asked, well what if that doesnt solve it, what next, he immediately told me that of course he wouldnt be able to swallow the cost of the parts. I said no thanks, that Id pick up the car the next day. I picked it up and paid the $80 in diagnostic time.Then I took it to a mechanic in Brookline that had been recommended to me. They properly diagnosed the leaking exhaust manifold, explaining it would leak when cold and then seal when warm. They replaced the manifold and gasket (and only those) and it solved my problem.Moral of the story: save your money and take your car somewhere else, some place that isnt going to rip you off to just swap out parts.
