Callled for an estimate to replace extension springs and cables on an existing door. Was quoted the lowest price compared to other garage door repair companies in the area and was asked how the following morning sounded. I agreed to the following morning and explained I am off today and tomorrow so that would work. In a matter of 20 minutes repair guys were here to fix my door, explained how to lubricate the door properly, and what I needed to do to preserve my old existing door. I am highly satisfied with the promptness of service, the price, and technicians going out of their way explaining what I needed to do moving forward. Will be contacting them when I’m ready for that new door!

Hes also a very friendly guy who has some awesome stories too. The rates are excellent and youre not going to find someone this skilled for less or more money. Ill be a lifelong customer!

I called first thing in the morning and had someone to look at my garage door by lunch. On the phone I was told the service fee was $80 and as long as I did not need any parts or extensive work done then I would only be charged the $80. It took about a half hour and I was very pleased with the work and now everything works fine. And as I was told on the phone I was only charged $80. Definitely would recommend.

WILL NOT SUPPORT HIS PRODUCT AFTER YOU BUY. I had this person install my garage doors and all was good until I wanted to purchase a new door seal. I was told, and I quote.... NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WHINE he would not sell me the part with out charging me for installation. This company is the only distributor in our area. He then advised me to go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy one for a different door and make it work.

I have used this company twice, and I have called twice to get a phone consult. Every time I call, I received helpful information or a prompt house call. They have replaced a door, and came out to adjust it for free. In addition, they have replaced an old keypad after trying to problem solve with me over the phone. Always quick service and well priced.

While I was in Florida my wife contacted your company to install anew door in an old free standing garage; one that I thought neededextensive reworking to convert from the old triple sliding doors to amodern electric, overhead garage door. These guys did it very quicklyand in a very professional manner. It cost a little more than Iexpected, but it is very good looking and works flawlessly every time.Get what you pay for...call these guys.

Awesome service!!! I listed my house for sale and planned on heading out of town for the week. An open house was scheduled in 2 days when I intended to leave. Lo and behold, I came home and my garage torsion springs broke. I submitted a service request at about 7:30 PM and got a call close to 9:00 PM from Gerry. I explained my circumstances and he had a tech on site by 7:45 AM the following day. Its now 8:15 and my garage has been fully repaired. I can now go out of town knowing my agent doesnt have to make excuses for a broken garage, which obviously wouldnt sit well with potential buyers.

Unexpectedly, our garage door spring snapped last night, just before midnight. Gerald called me personally the next morning, and gave us a great price on same day service. He beat out every other quote and even beat one of them by $100. More importantly, he was courteous and professional. The technician he sent out was also wonderful and very knowledgeable, even giving my husband tips on maintenance. He was done and gone in about 40 minutes. These guys are the best!!! How can you beat a business owner calling you himself these days!

I will start this review by telling all who reads this, that I am a horrible, evil, and disrespectful customer. Ill explain why in a moment but first I should say that this repair (11/8/19) went well in the beginning. I mistakenly contacted this Geil instead of another one (there are so many Geils doing garage doors). Anyway, this Geil seemed kind even tried to do some diagnosis over the phone to save me the $70 service charge. But to no avail, he advised that he would send a guy that day. And they did and I must say that repair tech was very good and knowledgeable. It was a 10 minute repair (sensor bracket was lose and bent a bit) and I happily paid the $70 for a working garage door again. (The initial problem with the door was that it wasnt closing with any electrical device other than the wall mounted controller). The tech also helped me program a different garage door so that we could open it from outside with a code on the key pad. Moments later (the tech was still in our driveway on his phone), the garage door opened, on its own. I didnt say anything to the tech, when I heard it, I closed it. I didnt think anything of it, but three hours later it opened again. I closed it again. After a day of this (with the door opening in the middle of the night randomly (including the Saturday morning of the incident that will describe why Im so horrible). Upon going into the garage that Saturday morning and the door was open again! I was at my wits end.... I contacted Gerald Giel. Being a Saturday, I waited to call until after 9AM...In fact, it was 9:09 AM when I called. Mr. Geil answered the phone but sounded perturbed. I told him who I was, and my concern that door was opening randomly. Did I get an Oh, so sorry to hear this response? No! Did I get a tell me what its doing and lets see if I have any suggestions for you to try No!What I got was a very terse lecture about the fact that he is a small company and that he works hard 5 days a week and didnt appreciate being contacted by his customers on a Saturday. In fact, he further advised that his parents and grand parents fought wars so that he wouldnt have to work on Saturdays. (Im pretty sure he wasnt paying attention in history class). He told me that I should contact him on Monday (not the other way around). He said that there could be a button pushed in and thats whats causing the issue.(No, it wasnt the problem). Did he advise to unplug the opener until Monday to keep it from opening...No! Did he say to clear all of the codes and memory from all the garage door openers, and reprogram? No! (And yes, that was the problem and I fixed it after much frustration). He did however, let me know how disrespectful he thought I was for disturbing him on a weekend. How dareI! Im awful!!Ive noticed that Mr Geil does monitor these reviews so I have some advice for him. 1).Treat your customers like they are gold, because they are. They can always go away like me. 2). Dont ever yell at your customers! 3). If you dont want to work on the weekend, have an automated voice mail that advises that you are closed and wont return calls until Monday. Personally, I believe that he answered the phone that Saturday morning because he enjoys talking to people that way. He enjoys telling the tale of why his family(mistakenly) fought wars so he doesnt have to work on the weekend.Either way, Im all set with this company. He can respond to this review anyway he likes (Freedom of speech and all...which, was something that his parents/grand parents did fight for in a war). This did happen, its not embellished or fabricated (as he accused another customer in his response to a review). Anything short of a full on apology is the only way he can fix this in my eyes. And really, I dont even want that, I just want others to be ware of this business. Personally, Id do business with the Geils in the shiny red vans. No, Mr.Geil...you didnt treat me very well but I sincerely hope that you treat your employees well because the one that you sent us deserved that much.

I have done business with Gerald Giel Garage Doors twice now, from setting up the appointment with Joyce in the office to the tech who came out, and both times were exceptional. The first time was in March 2019 to fix a limiter switch in our 30+plus year old opener, and we got an estimate for two new openers while he was here. We called back in November to see if the job could still be done for that amount. We were told that the price had gone up by $20 but that was it. We would pay $800 out the door, and thats exactly what the bill was when the job was done. We bought two Liftmaster 8355 1/2 HP openers with wi-fi capability through MyQ, and they can be closed or opened through a phone app! Plus an outdoor keypad. Jeff got the installation done in less than two hours and was very professional. I was very happy with the service provided by Gerald Giel Garage Doors and will happily do business with them again!

Owner is one of the most rude, condescending, arrogant individuals who I have come across who has managed to his own business. After I was told someone would be here this morning and they opened at 7:30, I called to find out when they would be here. He launched in to a rant about how he TOLD ME they would call first...I was attempting to find out when they would arrive so I can continue to alter my work schedule - apparently he is easily threatened and then attempts to intimidate when he is asked a question. He says: Well maybe we wont come out at all. Was I supposed to then beg him to let me give him my money! WTH. I think that says more than my bashing him, when he can do it himself. Additionally, we have had problems with the door since installation. It was done improperly twice (per his admission) and then it wore out (2 years into its lifespan). Question the quality of the unit we were sold but it was a new construction thing. AVOID this particular Giel Garage door - there is no need to feed this guy money when there are other choices.

I called for a quote on broken spring , was told that I would get a call back and waited two days no call back . When I did call them back the man on the phone was extremely RUDE, and spoke quite loudly in a condescending tone. So I went with someone else who was both nice and prompt ( Samson Garage Doors) and within 1 day my door was working again.

7/14/2016, I called Gerald Giel about a question because the paint faded on my door, and I recalled the company telling me the door was guaranteed for life. He explained the paint was not guaranteed, but the door was. The guy then implied that I did not take care of the door, and he talked over me and was extremely rude. I would never use this company again, and I told him that I will tell anyone that. I understand if the paint was not part of the warranty, he did not say that when the door was installed, but I understand it and I can accept that. What I can not accept is a person in the service business treating myself, the customer in an extremely rude manner. Anyone can do business with company, there are a lot of garage door companies out there, I would never use or recommend this company.

I am horrified with the customer service at Giel Garage Door. I spoke to Christine and she was the rudest person I have had the misfortune of speaking to. I was unable to be at home when a technician came to fix my door. While I was told that the technician spoke to my tenant regarding the repair, I asked nicely to be able to speak to them regarding the work they had done on my property to get further details. Christine was incredibly condescending, belligerent, and began to yell about how I was wasting her time with my phone calls. I have never been YELLED at nor spoken to in this manner by anyone in my life. I will NEVER use them again and hope Christine receives proper training on speaking to customers in the future.

Got a quote from this company for service and a new opener. Agreed on the price, but they did NOT specifically say what their service included with regard to the install. They asked me to leave them a check which I complied in good faith. After they were finished, the installer called me to inform me that there was no electrical outlet in the ceiling so I left it just plugged into an extension cord. Additionally he said he did not replace the ceiling tile, and also that the new opener required light bulbs, which are no big deal, but the ATTITUDE of the man I talked to on the phone was the issue. Instead of at least tacking an extension cord up nicely, they left the cord hanging down in the middle of the floor, and as the installer said, they did not replace the ceiling tile. This, nor the fact that they did not supply the opener with at least a cord tacked to the wall was a little unnerving, particularly when they didnt inform me of this after the original quote. But the man I talked to on the phone this morning said theres not a garage installer in the COUNTRY who puts electric to the opener.I was made to feel like an idiot for even asking. I posted a review on FB about this, and immediately a friend of mine who I forgot was a contractor told me hed have repaired the ceiling tile, supplied the electric and thrown in the light bulbs! (The guy from Giels told me that if they supplied light bulbs, theyd end up breaking, rolling around in the truck! WHAT?!Needless to say, I would NOT recommend them because of their attitude towards me as a customer. Plus, if you quote a fee for an opener, I feel I should have been informed prior to doing the work, that they would not include repairing the ceiling tile, and supplying the electric, or at least tack up an extension cord to the new opener.Dont treat your customers like we are idiots. I only called to ask about these non-covered items, and an explanation would have been more appropriate than telling me youve never received a phone call like this in 40 years! I would not recommend this company. (The opener and doors work fine, but additionally, I requested that they try to adjust the door so it seals more completely and they said they could not do this. He gave me the excuse that they couldnt because he cant get parts. Im sure there is some way to better seal garage doors, but I guess thats not up their alley!)
