This is the best used outdoor gear resource in the area hands-down. It’s my go-to for reasonably priced, quality product to get my kids outside doing all of the activities we love, but that can be pricey to outfit- from bikes to ice skates to ski warm up pants. I also love the shopping experience, it feels organized and easy to navigate, which is NOT always the case with second hand shops. It’s worth the trip.

Woods + Waters is a wonderful shop for outdoor and sporting gear. Ive found many of my favorite items here and Jenna makes every customer feel like family. Ive consigned a items and been able to use the credit to buy excellent new-to-me gear. This is also the first place I go for kids hiking and backpacking gear. I never know what gems I might find. The hiking boots I bought for my daughter successfully climbed Katahdin this summer. Woods + Waters isnt only a great shop, its an important part of creating a more sustainable, eco-friendly community.

How wonderful to have a place in town that fills two functions: When you no longer need that anorak, those snowshoes or skis - or other gear, you can bring it someplace where it will NOT be thrown in the trash. They have a great selection and variety of products - soft goods & apparel but also technical pieces. The price point is spot on, so the inventory turns over rapidly enough to keep it interesting and keep me coming back. For those items that are outside my price range, its nice to know the prices come down based on the number of months its been on the rack... yet another reason to duck in as I pass through. Their consignment policy in very easy and approachable.

This store is really excellent. The owner, Jenna, has a very sincere understanding of why shes in the business, and the larger implications of using pre-owned gear to experience the natural world. The thing I like the most about her approach is how down to earth she is about camping/hiking/skiing, etc. Ive seen people from all walks of life get suited up in her store, and I think its really great that shes stripping back the gearhead/hardcore vibe that is often so prevalent in the outdoor retail industry. Ive scored everything from little kid hiking boots to ice climbing gear, AT skis to car-camping lanterns, and Ive also had really smooth consignment experiences. I also feel like I am doing a small service to the environment whenever I buy/sell from Jenna. Also, Woods and Waters Gear Exchange (in Brunswick) is on the way to EVERYWHERE in Maine, so its a great place to pick up last minute gear on your way north to the mountains or headed down east...
