Nicholas Smith had a great selection of 1/32 scale slot cars and I bought 2 on sale. The number 15 Red Bull F1 and a Number 2 Nascar Plymouth Superbird. About $35 each. It’s nice to catch a break!

This is one of the superior hobby shops in all of America. Joey and his staff have a vast selection of model railroad inventory across all scales, and if they dont have it they can certainly find it. The staff are some of the nicest folks you could ever meet, and will do whatever they can to fulfill your needs. They also offer a great online store so you can shop their vast inventory from anywhere in the world. After 2 fairly bad new DCC loco purchase experiences from large online model railroad retailers, I was quite hesitant to buy a 3rd DCC loco online. Enter Nicholas Smith Trains. Purchased an N scale DCC loco and it had a defect. Called and they sent replacement including return label with ZERO hassle unlike prior retailers. Excellent communication, quick resolution and willingness to help characterizes the tone of the phone calls to the store. Awesome place! Really a great place you can bring the entire family to, something for everyone. As a model railroader I mainly spend my time upstairs with the trains which are stocked with the newest, and they often buy collections for those older out of production items. I have never walked out empty handed.

Isles and isles of train stuff packed high - kind of like the old time Woolworths or Wanamaker stores - but train-centric. Great selection of O and G.... I bought a building for my layout. It isa very big shop with a great inventory. I suspect that most of their business is from on-line sales. Definitely worth a visit.

Took my Nephew here, its awesome.The only thing I can compare it to is Toys R Us before it closed down when I was a kid. As an adult, I think this place is way cooler, and I would have been over the moon to shop here as a child.Definitely worth checking it out.If your one of those adults that likes toy trains, this is your jam too.

Amazing Store. I have been going here for years and lately have really been picking up Model Railroading. With my Christmas Money I wanted to purchase a sd90 diesel locomotive. The staff helped me find the exact train I wanted and they have a very fair price $50 less than the catalog price. I have ran my engine on my layout and it is great! Really great store and has any thing a model railroad store could have.

I know nothing about Trains. I bought one on Amazon about two years ago and it was a debacle! Broken and I had to send it back. My kids were very upset. So I was weary of getting another one. However, my wife found this shop and they were extremely helpful in explaining what would be good for my family. They have EVERYTHING!! I was super impressed and the knowledge of the employees is outstanding. I had one minor issue with the train and thought, here we go again They didnt even blink, they checked the piece, said this piece isnt your issue but knew what the issue was based on what I told them. Id have to say this is the last great hobby shop and my favorite. They are also usually the best priced and most competitive of the existing shops. Going there is like a return to the hundreds of hobby shops and toy shops of yesteryear, only better because the stuff has improved over the years and its the largest in the region and still here! So I ordered pieces of straight track. and when I opened up the box I noticed that it arrived damaged - 2 of the pieces were bent,. It wasnt their fault, it had to do with Fedex as the box itself was bent during shipping. I was offered either a credit or a full refund, no problem. There is no better hobby shop anywhere. As a kid my father would take us downtown to the original Nicholas Smith train store where Mr Smith was behind the counter. I’m pretty sure he was from Germany and a real pleasant guy from what I remember. Our father had brought us a Marklin set of trains while he was in Germany for the war and Nicholas Smith was about the only store that carried Marklin with a large stock. Larry Todd of Todd’s model store also carried a large selection of Marklin trains. Larry is a great guy. Anyway that’s how we got started with Nicholas Smith trains. The owner Chris is a great guy and very knowledgeable about the hobby. All the staff is pleasant and go out of their way to help you. If they don’t have it in stock they will get it for you fast. The hobby store below the train store is unbelievable they have everything and a lot of old items that haven’t been made in years. Do yourself a favor and visit them you won’t be sorry.

There are not many stores left like this anymore.I find myself in our every time I wonder through the stacks. Every type of craft is handled here, and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable about everything. From model rockets, planes and trains, to puzzles and games for kids, this place has everything you could possibly want in the way of small toy shop.I highly recommend a visit here, as they always seem to have what I’m looking for.Plus you have to keep places like this in business. They are being eaten by the big box shops. But I can guarantee if you ever need to find a specific paint, Model rocket engine, or a little widget to fix your model trains this is the place to go.Extremely helpful.

All good. competitive prices and its great to help a local business.COVID-19 UPDATE: these guys are doing it right. go here for your hobby stuff. theres someone at the door to give you hand sanitizer and make sure youre wearing a mask. Staff are appropriately vigilant and strict about making sure the mask stays on. With 2 kids and a wife who is an essential health worker, we really appreciate the efforts. NS is about 30 minutes from our house, 25 minutes further than the closest hobby shop, but we will make the effort, because they are.

When my mother was my age, her stepfather would make a display of all his trains. Unfortunately, he was not physically around when I was born. But, every year during Christmas time I carry on his tradition of setting up the trains under the tree.I wanted to make him so proud of me by really creating a small town around the trains. Ive always said to myself I wanted to make a bridge and a village, but never had the motivation to dedicate 10 hours of my day to completing such a project.So, last year, I did just that. I dedicated 5 hours one day and 5 hours the next day. But, I wouldnt have been able to do it without Nicholas Trainss input and advice, along with their display. My mother and I went and saw this display using the same train tracks that my grandfather has. The gentlemen in the store showed me around, what street to use, what glue to use, what would look better for this type style. He really took the time top help me recreate what my grandfather has done and make a memorable experience.

The owner is pushy with buying things and kinda rude. The rest of the staff is pretty nice. Alot of stuff i bought from there was faulty.

It was a waste of gas and money. Back in the day they had 20 trains running. There wasnt a single train moving.

We stopped in here just the other day with some of the kids. They have such an amazing collection of toys. You can find almost everything here. One of our kids enjoy the baby shark phenomenon and they carry a small stuffed animal with a recording.

Walked in with my son to look for a train for Christmas. The place was crowded,Joey came out from behind the register and treated us like we were the only people in the shop. Absolutely one of my favorite places. Downstairs is a wonderful toy store with each aisle crammed full of unique toys that you will not find elsewhere easily. Upstairs is a full on model railroad store. Has some great layouts to meander around, but also carries everything imaginable for trains and layouts. There really is so much to see. The staff is always helpful and super friendly. My children all love going there. On the visit the other day we didnt tell our 8 year old where we were going. When we pulled up you would have thought we were at a theme park giving away free ice cream and puppies. Just a great place all around

Great staff. I came in over the weekend a week before Christmas with a broken roller on my Polar Express locomotive, not only did they attempt to fix it on the spot, they DID fix in. I tried to pay the gentleman and he said Merry Christmas, Joe is who we dealt with on site but I can say that all of the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended and will ONLY shop here for all things trains moving forward!

Just got back from my first visit. Wow what a huge shop! So many products. They have EVERYTHING you need for any scale! As a N scaler, I was quite happy with the large selection of items. And the prices are good too. Comparable to Ebay and other model train retailers. Friendly staff and lots of cool layouts to look at. You could spend hours just wandering. Will be back!

I hadnt used my childhood trains in nearly 35 years. When my 11yo found them in the attic we needed a few pieces to get them going again. This store was AMAZING. I ordered the Polar Railroad Scale Legacy K4 and the #990 Legacy Command Set and im VERY happy with my order, everything came really quick to my doorstep, They did get my address right except 3rd street was not supposed to be Bird St. lol it was supposed to be 3rd st. but i still got the items. however the rechargeable batteries that came with the command set were busted but that was an easy fix with new alkaline rechargeable batteries, THANK YOU Nicholas Smith Trains for all your help, and AWESOME customer service, I really appreciate it.
