Really disappointing in terms of a sales perspective. The sales people are great but its clear that CarMax may not be worth the extra price as I couldnt believe seeing multiple vehicles miss simple things that shouldve easily been picked up over their inspection before someone wouldve bought the car.I was told from individual sales staff and someone in service that [CarMax] hasnt met their standards lately which is honestly disheartening to hear when CarMax themselves charge a premium for their vehicles on the used car market that are supposed to be a cut above the rest. Clearly I could find issues on their lot and their own staff have been hearing this as well - please see some of the few photos I took of items that I found with a single walk around some of their vehicles.Ive seen CarMax have some great offerings in the past and be worth it, but I cant possibly recommend them if they are cutting corners to get vehicles on their lot during a time of increased sales.

What an easy car buying experience. I found the car at the Brooklyn Park CarMax and scheduled an appointment for the next day. I began the paperwork online and went to the appointment the next day. I was met by Phil for my appointment and immediately made to feel comfortable that he was there to help me find a vehicle that was right for me and in my price range.I loved the car I test drove. I had to leave, but Phil worked with my wife and I to get everything set up until we returned and finished the paperwork later in the evening. The car was cleaned up and thoroughly inspected. I have had it now for almost a month and couldnt have been happier with Phil and the CarMax experience. We have already recommended them to several friends and family members.

Buyer Beware: dishonest/unscrupulous employee. I purchased a Toyota Sequoia from Konstantin Bratanov who represented himself as an honest Carmax manager and said the SUV was in excellent mechanical condition. Although the engine warning light was on, he said that his Carmax mechanic had inspected the vehicle and it was just a faulty sensor, plus the timing belt was inspected and in good condition. Given the Carmax brand, I trusted him – big mistake. When I took it to Burnsville Toyota to replace the so-called faulty sensor, I learned (among other things) that the engine warning was due to low coolant from a cracked radiator that spews coolant everywhere when replenished. The Toyota technician told me that the engine was intentionally cleaned of all the dried coolant stains before it was sold to me. Naturally, I had them check the timing belt which was in dire need of replacement. Had to spend >$2,000 to fix them. Of course, when I confronted Konstantin, he feigned surprise, sent me some inflated/errant blue book screen shots saying I still got a great deal, then stone walled me. Dishonest, shameless, unethical. A company is only as good as its people.

Our sales person Kyle helped my wife and I purchase a vehicle we transferred from another location. Drove the car, loved it! Kyle was more upset then us the buyer the shape of our front bumper. Purchased the car and got our bumper repainted! Would buy from Carmax again!

My mother is not able to drive any more so I had to sell her car. I looked up the value of the car online and a pop-up ad from Carmax appeared offering me significantly more money for her car than its valuation online. I assumed it was an inflated offer and there was a bait and switch going on, but I also wanted to sell the car fast, and even if it wasnt for the full value, the convenience was appealing. I made an appointment online and took the car in the next day. Within an hour I walked out with a check for the full value of the original online offer.

I have sold cars in the past but this has to be the easiest experience there is. From getting an offer and knowing what to expect or someone giving you all the information you need to bring to prevent miscommunications its totally easy.I had worked with some really wonderful people that were nice and patient and walked me through everything. The staff from the people that greeted me down to the 2 people that worked with me to get my car sold were great.I will certainly look to go through you to purchase a car or sell my next!

Overall I’m satisfied, however the one thing that I think could be improved is communication. I work a lot and had an appointment setup and had a Jeep set aside for my appointment. I drove over an hour to get there to learn that the Jeep that I was coming to look at was in for service and that it wouldn’t be available until middle of the following week. It’s my opinion this should have been relayed back to me before I drove up to let me know to either reschedule or to go ahead and look at something else.I did buy a Jeep when I was there and have been very happy with it and would go back to Carmax I would even recommend friends as well.

Friendly but they low ball you on buying cars then tell you how terrible the other dealerships are. I’ve had them quit buying 2 different vehicles a couple years apart and both times CarMax came in dead last. I wouldn’t bother having them quote a trade in or buying a car, it’s a waste of time.

From stepping foot in the door at the Brooklyn Park, MN location was more then wonderful. The place itself was sparkling clean and Benny immediately introduced himself with a welcoming smile. I recently within the last few months purchased a vehicle through CarMax. A 2017 Nissan Armada Platinum. My car has 48,936 miles on it and is literally 700 miles over their CarMax warranty and now my car doesn’t even start!!! When I called CarMax to see about get my vehicle in for service they said they don’t have any appointments available until September 17th which is literally 22 days away from today’s date! They then proceeded to tell me to take my vehicle elsewhere to have it serviced. Which leaves me vulnerable to having my vehicle serviced by people I’ve never dealt with before even though I purchased my car with CarMax with and purchased their extended warranty. They still had no interest in helping me get my vehicle serviced. When I called Nissan they didn’t have any appointments available either until September 13th! When I spoke to CarMax service department about getting my vehicle in the guy was rude and unhelpful. The sales manager John at CarMax also did not have anything to say or any type of solution that could possibly help me get my car back on the road. Nobody that I spoke to had any solution to the fact that my car was out of commission and everyone was unwilling to help! I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience through CarMax! They do not care about their customers and are not willing to help. It feels like they sell cars that they know are lemons and on the verge of pooping out and as soon as their 3 month, or 4,000 miles is up so is the service that comes with buying a vehicle. They are not there to help you after you purchase a car from them, they are ONLY there to sell you a car and make money off of you. I would recommend shopping around before purchasing a vehicle with CarMax! They do not have your best interest in mind and they will not help you with your car once they’re warranty is up. I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience with CarMax! I really regret purchasing my car through them.

The person helping me tried to scroll past my warranty contract. I was lied to saying they had service centers in my area. the salesperson even looked it up come to find out the closest 1 is 116 miles away. brought the vehicle in for an inspection everything was fine except that the skid plate needs to be replaced. tried calling for the 90 day warranty to cover it and all they tell me is to bring it to that close by service center. I work Monday through Friday so in order for me to do so I have to take time off work which nobody is planning on covering.

I was able to do a loan application online. When I first went in I was in a hurry I was told it would take longer then I was able to commit at that time. While I was gone I received a call that everything was set up for a expedited pick up when I came back. The paper work signing was pretty much all I had to do.Now I did have to return the original car I had taken and as soon as I walked in they were quick to help the return was very easy as well and did go quite quickly considering I was returning and buying.

I’m quite disappointed in my experience with CarMax in Brooklyn Park, MN. I sold my leased vehicle to them on May 10th, it is now June 18th and they have not yet managed to pay off the lease. Leasing company is now threatening to ding my credit score, and CarMax’s reply to me is gee, sorry about that, we haven’t paid it off because we can’t figure out where to send the check. Come on, this is your business and profession! It is Nissan Capital Leasing, not some unknown small company. I suggested that they just write a check to me for the modest amount that is currently overdue on the lease which I would use to get the payments caught up and which would reduce their ultimate payoff so no financial impact to them but still protect my credit, instant reply was nope, we can’t do that. That is just terrible, terrible, terrible customer service. I’m going to end up eating the overdue payment (and who knows how much more) to protect my credit, completely unfairly.

Where to begin.. From the first 15 minutes on the website, the experience was easy and seamless. Samuel Kuo immediately called and scheduled for a vehicle to be shipped to the closest location. Afterwards the car considering its proximity took longer than expected to arrive, but still within the days specified to allow for vehicle delivery. After two calls specifying extended estimated delivery, the car was at the lot that same day in the afternoon. Afterwards, Mr. John Terpstra, another sales associate for CarMax Brooklyn Park, took care of the delivery of the vehicle, test drive, and the rest of the administrative portion of the experience, as the initial sales representative was out of the office. Mr. John Terpstra was calm, friendly, professional and more than helpful during the entire process. He has considerable experience and knowledge of his products and definitely made the transaction transparent and reassuring, and honest. To sum up, excellent representatives and quality vehicles.

Ryan at the Brooklyn park carmax is the Bomb. Both Bs should be capitalized on purpose. Plus hes cute which was a plus in any book. But seriously I came in with a lemon I bought from another dealership less than a year ago. I literally had to have my car towed in. I asked Ryan would they still buy it from me and he was very honest and straight forward. He told me they would give me something for it but to expect to put an additional cash payment down. Carmax has a policy that you can trade in your car within 5 days of purchase for any reason at all. Lets just say I ended up trading my car 3 times within a 2 week period. And every time I call, Ryan picked up the call and helped me get into what I was looking for. EACH AND EVERY TIME. No evil eye, no snide remarks, just pure honest help. From the beginning to the end each time I traded in my car. Started off with a black Buick encore, to a jeep compass, and then Finally, my baby, who I call pearl, my Buick encore with 4wd, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, I even got a Buick app! I literally cannot say enough amazing things about my experience at CarMax with Benny. For being one of their newer associates, he sure knows how to provide an amazing experience. As a first-time car buyer, I had about a million questions and Benny answered them all without missing a beat. The entire CarMax staff was friendly as all get out, I think I chatted with a good 4-5 people during my visit there. The place itself is big and beautiful, without feeling intimidating, and sparkling clean. On top of it all, the car I found was an amazing price, I got incredible 100k/5yr coverage with Mazda, AND they let me leave my old beater in their parking lot for an entire week so I could drive my new(almost new) dream car home that day.Thank you Benny and CarMax team for making this experience an amazing one!

I did all the work. I found the car. I paid to ship it to a store closer to me. I made an appt to test drive. I paid cash for the car. The only thing CarMax has to do was send me paperwork electronically to sign and deliver the car to me. Both were messed up. The pestered me with texts, phone calls and emails to sign paperwork in a timely manner...which I did and it didn’t go through. So I signed 2x, after they insinuated I may not have done it right! They chose the time to bring me the car and showed up 1 hour 2 minutes late with no communication until I called them. They were condescending ‘our team is there, maybe you need to go outside and look’...they showed up 40 minutes later. But hey, I’m just a professional woman, sitting at home, blocking my calendar so I can take delivery of my car. Never again.

Stay clear of this place. The used cars are sold wrecked and they won’t use carfax. They use Experian who they know won’t pick up on most accidents. Than when you want to bring the vehicle back within the thirty day guarantee the sales managers treat you like your the enemy. To be fair, the business office staff is the very best in the business, as guys like Ross and ladies like Christine are just phenomenal in service. The sales reps are great folks as well. Elias and Augie are spectacular. Highly recommend them. There just trying to make a living like all of us and they treat you like family. Unfortunately the sales managers walk around like they are superior to not only the sales staff but customers. They are rude, out of sight and the wrong men for the job. No leadership skills. Business is business though and due to shady sales managers I would stay away. To each their own though.

Augie was so wonderful to my daughter and I. He listened to my daughter explain her credit, what she was working with as far as a down-payment, and what she wanted her monthly payments to be. Worst dealership in history,bought a car,a nice new one,the motor blew up a couple days later,turns out it had a branded title too and cant get fixed,these people dont have a care in the world,didnt get me a new car or a loaner,nothing. Everyone was very nice and helpful. My only issue and the reason for giving a 3 is I sat there for over two hours all together. The place was not filled with people and I saw numerous workers. I was told they always make sure to get people in and out as quick as possible and the whole thing should take about 30 hour or so. Two hours later my truck was sold. Again everyone I spoke to and worked with were super nice. It was just the wait time, especially with a 7yr old.

I had first vehicle delivered and that was a 20 minute process. I didnt like the vehicle and returned it for a different one. That was surprisingly easy and seemless also. Will buy from again if they have what I want.

I got an offer to sell my car to them through Edmunds. $500 above the other soft bids I got on the internet. My wife goes there and, although the offer is valid for another 2 days, they claim it is expired and make an offer $1300 lower.Did I give a false description of the car on Edmunds? Well, perhaps, but our local dealer who maintains our car ended up offering $800 more.Carmax way to lure you in and make a lowball offer looks pretty close to a scam to me...
