Optimum is the only service provider in my area and they’ve been playing with my billing since I started I absolutely hate this and they just raised my bill by $20 so I’m being charged $89 a month for a service they’re offering at $29.99 a month. I literally hope they get bought out by a company with common sense

Optimum customer for years and am paying for a triple play package (internet, phone and tv). My internet prices are 2x the price of the 1 gig internet offered to new customers but only 1/5 of the speed. According to prices being thrown around on reddit (which all have proof of statement) I am paying out the nose for an old, outdated plan which gives me less speed and less access to channels etc. When speaking to a less than helpful agent via chat I am told that I have no options for offers and although they wont directly say it, I am basically stuck in a situation where I will have to continually overpay for worse and worse services... Unbelievable.

Horrible experience — no staff interaction with a line of customers waiting outside for over 20-30 minutes — just to enter for service. Even with the Covid restrictions in place, there is a better way to treat customers. A female staffer walked in from the outside with coffees and breakfast for the staff, and she was the one that came out to “check us in” in a very forceful and rude demeanor. No “hello” or any greeting, she just said, “name?!!” — I said “after a wait like this you’d at least expect a hello, thank you for waiting,” but nope. She sarcastically said, “I’ve just been handling an emergency, so, good morning, and all that to you.” But she literally just walked in with coffee doe them all! What emergency? That is NOT the way to greet anyone! Horrible attitudes all around. This is a perfect example of our experiences with Optimum for the last 3 years. Soglad that after today we are no longer customers!

This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received from an ISP, bar none. That is an accomplishment as I have used many over the years. The amazing thing is their aparrent unwillingness to troubleshoot poor internet performance. The service will drop multiple times per hour for minutes at a time. My mobile hotspot works better than their 400Mbps service most of the time.

I would not give one star but you have to in order to write review. I moved and unfortunately took Optimum with me. They will make you think it is easy but unless you get someone who actually knows what theyre doing, it is not. Getting someone who knows what theyre doing is extremely difficult in the Optimum/Altice world. They completely messed up my cable/internet/phone service. Gave me all the wrong things, did not listen at all. Lied on and on but then miraculously I received a call with an apology and a 30.00 credit per month and actually admitted to doing everything wrong. Everything was fine for 2-1.2 months, then I mistakenly called to get a change made as they had once again made a change without telling anyone. The agent, Guisseppe, told me there was a promotion which allowed me to get my canceled service back for only $5.00. Never told me he would cancel my credit and my bill would be an additional 19.00 without taxes. Spoke with Amber who doesnt even know what company she works for, as she conveniently hung up on me. Then spoke with Guadalupe who also couldnt help. Then spoke with Victoria who also couldnt help but knew I needed to speak to the Retentions Dept. which I did, Jessica, was able to explain what happened but naturally couldnt do anything about it, so that was that and a complete picture of Optimum/Altices non existent customer service. If you do not have to get this cable company, do yourself a favor and dont because you will be sorry.

Stay away. I had a scheduled hook up 3 times now. Finally today they showed. They hooked me up and left. I had no idea how to use the system. I asked for someone to come back to at least leave me some information. They said no. I canceled the same day I installed.

Their automated phone service is the absolute worst.It’s not equipped for the handicap at all. It makes use your hands for the first five minutes of the call pushing buttons, numbers, instead of being able to talk the information. It takes at 5 minutes to deal with that annoying computer man voice. Pushing buttons and not able to sit phone down while calling them. The automated system is very annoying and needs to be upgraded.The service is not good in my area and getting them to fix their problems seems impossible. They just want their money and not to concerned about your service. I rate them a 3 which is better than their competitors.They can improve and make this company a wonderful experience for all of us if they choose to, but money rules.

The only reason I am even giving this a 5star review is because of Dave your technician who finally fixed the problem with our optimum service.We have not had good service since the optimum was installed a couple of months ago and honestly we should get a refund!3 technicians have already been out to our house in the beginning to correct our WiFi service and hurriedly left . It never worked right. We couldn’t use our phone and we’re constantly logging into WiFi to get service on our cell phones.We could not get channels on our smart TV either.Dave was extremely professional and smart. He took the time to trouble shoot the problem. He did not fix it any old way and leave. He stayed until he was sure the problem was fixed.Optimum kept asking us to trouble shoot over phone and it was difficult to even get someone out here.There was a problem with the wiring and also needed a new router. There is no way this would been fixed over the phone.Thank goodness for Dave who was intelligent enough to find the problem and fix it the correct way. He stayed to make sure everything was working before he left. He was very patient and also has a great sense of humor.Dave deserves a big raise because Optimum would have lost a customer as I was sick of it never working and was ready to switch providers!!Susan and John GillOrange, CT

When I call them, they barely speak English, they put me in hold for long periods of time. They refuse to send me, or to even acknowledge the fact that they offer and owe me a $100-200 gift card.When I purchased their internet package back in December they promised me $100 gift card after 90 days.Its been well over 90 days, I called and one employee said they would credit my account. That never happened. I called again, and another employee says he made a mistake, we will mail u your gift card, and I have still NOT received the gift card that was promised to me for becoming a customer.Now they have a promotion offering a $200 gift card...it is a LIE

I cancelled my cable, phone, and internet. I OFFICALLY have no use for their service YET I have to pay $93.77 for service through July 15, 2021 because my billing cycle already started. I am not sure why they cannot figure out how to retro the payment. Now I am forced to pay for services that I am not using. Joe, the representative did tell me that I could still use the hotspots, because you know, thats worth almost $100. Does not help that I have no use for the hotspots and they assume I am in the area where the hotspot is even plausible.Its horrible service to force someone to pay for something that they are not using. They manage to figure out how to make a customer pay for partial month service, but cannot figure out how to reimburse them?Never again will I use this company. This policy is utterly ridiculous.

Waited 45 minutes for a 5 minute conversation. Most of the workers (that were in the back) didnt appear to be doing anything important.I just felt as if the individuals in the back could have supported their colleagues better with assisting the individuals waiting on line.Also, as one of the workers (whom I initially though was a customer) left for a break (I presume) the manager looked inside his colleagues bag - Im thinking to ensure she didnt steal anything.That was disturbing to see as well.

Its like going to the DMV, it looks like one but less efficient. I dread every time Im forced to come here. I had to go in person to return my cable box. Waited an hour on the line outside. Once I got in, I hand them my cable box, and that was it. All that time waiting for a quick drop off. Huge waste of time. Optimum needs to do something about their stores because this is unacceptable. There is no appeal and its quite frankly, depressing. Change.

Their website and app is out of date, so is their auto system, today, it took me 30 minutes to just pay a bill that I (before today) had been able to pay on the website with no issues. Incompetent to the ends degree. On Thursday (2/25/21) I was instructed by an optimum technician to unhook my Altice cable-box in order to take it to the store and replace it. The next morning, Friday 2/26/21, at 8:40 AM, I stood 6th in-line outside the store. When it was my turn to get in, I was rudely ambushed between the door and the narrow entryway by a female employee trying to take my temperature. In addition to startling me, she was literally in my face. On my way to my floor marked position in the indoor line, I couldn’t help but wonder, why didn’t she step outside in order to take her customer’s temp in a professional and safe manner? Lazy, incompetent or maybe it was too cold for the employee to step outside where her customers were waiting, by then, for at least 45 minutes, many of whom were carrying boxes as well.To make matters worst, the same young female employee, now dancing and singing along, Billie Jean, approached me and asked what do I intend to do with the box? Replace it, I replied. We don’t have these here, she answered. I was told to do so by one of your techs, and I added, so what should I do now? Leave?... that’s an option, she replied with a strange giggle. I firmly asked, can I schedule an appointment here? While still singing along Billie Jean, she shook her head affirmatively. That prompted the person behind me to loudly wonder if she was working here?Offended, I guess, she rudely asked that person to move back another 6 feet and physically moved the person in front of me another 6 feet while mumbling something about social distancing. Then, she stood next to me, and looked at me with an angry childish look. I told her, 6 feet is the rule, keep in mind people are waiting outside in the cold... but it’s your store, your rules.... Yes it is, she replied very angrily. Then she continued to look at me with this childish gaze. I told her all is good here, and asked her to please move away from my side. She did.At window 7, around 9:35/45, the female customer service employee was terrific. Immediately she expressed her apology for me carrying that box to the store. She added that they will try harder to inform technicians that these type of boxes are not in stock. She scheduled an appointment and again apologized for coming down when I didn’t have to. All is good, and all is forgiving, I said to myself.But, not so fast, on my way out, the dancing immature female employee looked straight at me and turned around, again, in a childish attitude as if to avoid saying have a good day or something.... immature, unprofessional and just plain awful for business.Some suggestions : no need to ambush customers by the narrow doorway, take temps outside in a professional and safe manner; 2, the store has two doors, form two lines, one for payments ( by the payment machine) and one for boxes and other issues; 3, the immature dancing employee or others, should get a cart and a hand held scanner in order to scan boxes and take them off customers hands and put them on the cart; 4, be considerate to customers who are waiting in the cold, try to help speed the process not have a childish fit and prolong their waiting time; 5, if an employee wants to sing, dance and maybe flirt with the security guard, do it on their own time....One last note, the call with the tech, from beginning to end, including, running a diagnostic test, took about 15-20 minutes.... aside from the wrong return instruction, the total time of the call is great...

My experience has been terrible from the beginning to the end without Alice.Customer service is polite but could not solve porting my number to the phone they sold me. After a month their solution was to put a new sim card in my new phone but then they charged me for two lines. They promised to call me back a few times and never did.After four months and many hours spent I switched back to Verizon.You get what you pay for.

Despite the wait to be attended is extremely long, when you do get up to the window the customer service is always on point and the employees are welcoming along with being knowledgeable on their products, services and pricing. Worst company I’ve dealt with in my entire life. Send a technician to my home to fix an ongoing issue with the Internet that I had from day one of starting service. Charge me $80 for the gentleman to walk in the home tighten one wire on the router and claim the problem to be fixed and walk out. The problem has persisted for two more months. As a whole, horrible service. From internet, to TV and automated help. Paying for a service im not receiving (200 mbs) getting 75 average. Service cuts out, no wifi signal in my tiny house and no one that can help unless you pay to have them come out. Been horrible, and they only offer help/discounts when youre already fed up and leaving.

I was supposed to have cable canceled two months ago and an email sent with the packing address thing to send my boxes out since the Bridgeport store seemed to be closed and they told me they were closed. I had already unplugged my boxes so I didnt even know I still had cable and was being charged for it. Ive gotten two full-price Bills of 170-something since I had called to cancel. And I definitely called several times as well about the packing slip. Horrible

We have not had any major problems with optimum until now. We recently received our bill and noticed there was a balance transfer in which has nothing to do with our household Weve been disconnected due to this hefty charge....when calling to speak to someone we are constantly given the run around! This is the WORST service company. I’m constantly struggling with dropped wifi while streaming movies and video calls. Their commercials promise reliable high speed Internet, which is a complete and total LIE! Their customer service on the phone is rude and unhelpful. In the store it’s worse!! They just give you the run around and they don’t care or even want to help you. Up to now I’ve been stuck with their service, not by choice, but because it was the only service provider in the area. I’ve been hoping for another provider to become available. Today I had such a bad experience at the store that I gave up on them and called around. If you want someone to come to your home to set up service to be ready for your childs remote learning for school, and then be told its too much work and that would interfere with their attendance at a barbecue, then this is the company for you. Also, if you want to be told that they can not go up their ladder because of bushes that are in the way that arent on your property, but you take the time to cut them down yourself to make a way while the service person stands by...this is also the company for you! Lastly, if you want to be told by the rep on the phone that you can only speak to a manager to talk about the poor service in 24 to 48 hours than this IS the worst company in the world, but yet still for you! I love my Optimum service, it is reliable but expensive. I decided to give them my cell phone service on a new offer, $20 for life. This is not a place set up for sales. You feel like a criminal upon entering, a security guard gruffly tells you where to stand. I waited in line over half an hour with people returning equipment and paying bills. When it is my turn I am told my year old phone is not convertable and I will need to purchase a new one. I am given a form to fill out and sent away from window to complete. I might mention the employees are behind glass and items are passed through a tiny slot, just like a jail! There is nowhere to sit, I have mobility issues. Once I completed the form I return to window area until employee finishes with current customer. Then I am told they dont have the cheaper models in stock and in order to get my current amount of memory I will need to buy a phone costing over $ 500! After 45 minutes I leave with my old phone and old service, what a horrible experience!

Throughout the pandemic weve had terrible and intermittent service. Weve had service to our home and the internet issues continued. With kids at home homeschooling this was a major inconvenience and problem. As if it werent bad enough people are suffering as a result of the pandemic optimum will not be lenient with persons in financial hardships. My mother had this service installed in September. Since the day of the fiber optic install, there have been constant service interruptions, waiting all day for a tech to show up only to say he couldnt fix the problem that it was a back end problem. On two other occasions they never showed up. After taking 3 different days off from work to be at the appointments. They never issued credits for the many many days of no service. They are charging her for dvr service that we were told was supposed to be included in our package. Every other day she looses phone service and internet and the equipment was replaced but they still cant fix her problem. We go round and round And nothing is fixed. She has been over billed and charged for things we dont have. The salesman came to my 90yo moms home and told her Frontier was going out of business and she should switch. She is now paying 40 dollars a month more than she did with Frontier and the service doesnt work. We are stuck with optimum until the end of the next billing cycle 12/31. Then I will swich her back to Frontier.

All carriers basically offer the same stuff, it comes down to customer service. We have received without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my lifetime.There was no promotion to switch from a competitor. NBD, the first install. The wrong boxes were brought, I was given these basic cable boxes with no functions. When I called up they explained an upgrade option the a new system with wifi connectors. Second install, the tech moved the cable box from our bedroom to the living room and installed the new boxes. He forgot to install the wifi booster and did not install the boxes correctly. The back read CM Registering 24/7 and internet was intermittent. We called back, they sent out a third installer who basically said the last two guys didnt know what they were doing and fixed the system. This is about 8-9 weeks in.The entire time their customer service team said they would give us a discount once the problem was corrected. That was a lie, when we called back to adjust our bill we were told that there was no record of them offering any type of discount.Optimum/Altice does not give one s**t about their customers. Cant wait to have another internet option so I can cancel.

When I called Optimum to disconnect my service the hold message stated they were trying to help people impacted by covid-19. As someone impacted by this, furloughed and forced to move, they informed me that I was one day too late to avoid being charged for an extra month of a service I cant use in a house I no longer have access to.To make matters worse at the end of this conversation the agent started pitching me on their mobile service - seriously??? I have managed service recovery personally and this entire experience was a profound and embarrassing failure at retention.Optimum has zero compassion for victims of this pandemic. After over 8 hours of being on hold, being transferred from supervisor to supervisor, a tech specialist coming to my home etc Optimum couldnt figure out how to get my phone line working again. I decided to disconnect and switch to Frontier but Optimum couldnt even do that! I had absolutely no service for almost 2 months yet they were very good at sending me a bill. I paid the first one but the final bill i was trying to speak with someone and once again couldnt. Therefore I sent a check for $109.17 which 50% of the bill and i figured a generous compromise. In the memo section I wrote Final Payment Paid in Full along with the Optimum account number. They cashed it and are now hounding me for the balance which they arent allowed to since cashing the check they effectively agreed to the 50% payment. Im sure that they will then send it to collections and it will it go on my credit report.

My internet is so slow, I’m paying 60$ a month and I can’t even use one device properly. My phone doesn’t load pages when I’m connected but when I use cellular it works perfectly fine. I was doing work and it suddenly froze and was refreshing for about 5 minutes. When It finally refreshed all my work disappeared. I have a Ps4 and I can’t even play a single game even thought I’ve disconnected every other device in the house. I want to upgrade but I’m afraid it’ll be the same.

They said they came this first appointment we set and wasnt true. We were the whole day at home and the technician never text us or left any alert that he was there. Not even the ring bell sounded. The second appointment we set was for today and when period of time they said he was coming run out we called and they said that they changed the appointment for tomorrow without notice. They never asked if we were agree with that change. Terrible service and communication ohh and they charged us for a service we havent received.

Take a long time getting into you have to wait in the cold out side for an hour for them to tell you they cant help you that you have to call optimum crazy cause thats the actual store service high priced they do hidden fees under the guise of package deals

They are maintaining covid-19 protocols but the woman that helped me seems like she does not like her job and it showed, the whole process took under 2 mins and which the situation was not her fault, however she may need to find another job if she hates it so much.

Third phone call, cannot get anyone, when I did no one called me back. I keep calling not getting anyone. I did get someone, could barely understand, English poor. I am wasting alot of time, we still have problem, we cannot get a live body. You get these recorded messages that dont pertain to my problem. CAble bill is $250. per month, but they do nothing for you. Customer services there NONE!

It took me 5 hours to write this review because my WiFi is out multiple time a day EVERY day. They came out to replace everything from the pole to my pc. New router and modem. Still happens. The help desk tells us the new modem is old and is our issue. Months of issues, no help. No options. The do NOT care.

What an awful company. If there is any other option, go with them. I bought a modem to stop paying for a rental. I called them to ask what store to return it to. They sent me to one that was closed for renovations. I am OK with mistakes even though it was rush hour and I rearranged my day. I call to get a credit and I have never been treated so rudely in my life. They tell me that I am going to be charged for the time I have the modem after they sent me to the wrong store. Mandy Evans was rude, obnoxious and talked over me the entire time denying me any kind of credit. They are charging me for their mistake and then to add insult to injury, Mandy blamed me for going to the closed store they sent me to.

Typically, we get a hold time of 40 minutes and are treated to customer service folks who are not empowered to do basic operations, like registering a cable modem. In the most recent exchange the customer service rep was totally untrained and did not realize that cable modems take time to reboot. Also, had no idea that the mac address had to be set and had no idea how to make it work. Then they transferred us to another voice tree and we were treated to another 40 minute delay. WORST WASTE OF TIME, EVER. I wish we had competition, but here we have a MONOPOLY with ZERO incentive to improve customer service or the quality of the features provided. Due to unusually high call volume we are experiencing longer than normal delay. This happens EVERY time. The call volume is not at all unusual, it is typical. Too bad Frontier when bankrupt.

Because the Norwalk location is closed till the middle of January, I had to go to this location to exchange my cable box. Not as horrible as I expected. They had 5 workers on the windows and I was out in 20 minutes.

Its a good place to find out simple information or to trade in your old cable boxes for new ones. However when it come to more advanced questions, even regarding promotions or deals. Its best to just call customer service because they know nothing of that there it seems. At the very least theyre nice and respectful and give you the right numbers to call if they dont know the answer to a question you have. Overall not the worst experience, though it could have been better
