Great shop and great people. The Brown family and Brett are awesome and helpful people. Answered all questions I had. Been to shops all around the world and this is definitely one of the best. Would recommend anyone wanting to learn how to dive or just need some gear to stop by this place and give it a look.

Incompetence and unprofessionalism are the two adjectives that come to mind after my recent experience there. My wife and I walked in asking for a beginner set of dive equipment for me and Dean (I believe thats his name) said we have a package deal for $299 (mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and gloves). I was like thats awesome, but after an hour of picking which gear I wanted (it was slow because Dean struggled to answer my basic questions about the gear), I went to check out and he asked what class I was taking with them. I said I wasnt taking a class and he then told me the deal didnt apply and I would have to pay well over $400 (there was no indication anywhere in the shop that stated the package applied only to students at Sound Dive Center, nor did Dean mention that to us). Additionally, there was Justin (I think thats his name). It was clear that he was senior to Dean, yet he was extremely rude and mean to Dean in front of us, acting in a completely unacceptable and unprofessional manner. Further, when Dean asked Justin for help to answer my questions he acted as if he was extremely inconvenienced and it was crystal clear all he wanted to do was continue to talk to his friends in the corner of the shop. For example, we asked Justin about an Aqua Lung regulator and he told us in an annoyed tone I dont know anything about that regulator and continued to sit down and chat with friends. At least Dean was nice, but he was not knowledgeable about the majority of the gear in the shop. Oh, and he also suggested I dive without an octopus, stating many people do it all the time and that it was an acceptable and safe diving practice. We left promptly after wasting over an hour of our time and having the worst experience in a dive shop (my wife has been diving since 2008 and has been in dive shops across the world and was appalled at how we were treated. We visited Underwater Sports in Tacoma and had a great experience, so dont waste your time at Sound Dive Center.

Since the new owners took over its literally like a breath of fresh air. I actually stopped going after I once heard the previous owner talking down to someone in the rudest way and decided I didnt want to spend my money there. Once I heard it was under new ownership, I gave it another shot and glad I did! I had what I considered White Glove Service! They took their time, explained everything to me and even educated me on an item that I thought I absolutely needed to have and found that what I actually needed was less expensive! A BIG thanks to the Brown Family and their manager Brett for such wonderful service and friendly atmosphere now. You won this loyal customer for life.

Great people and dive shop! I got recertified for open water through Sound Dive in April and plan on taking Advanced and Rescue through them later this summer. The shop manager is really knowledgeable and is an all around awesome guy. The new owners are actively looking for input on improvement and creating an inclusive atmosphere. I was able to find gear that fit me perfectly, which is something that as a curvy girl I have struggle with in the past.

THE place to go if youre scuba or freediving on the Kitsap. Im a regular diver and have gone there for years but the new owners are making daily improvements. So even if you were there in the past, if you havent been by in the last year, you dont know the place. Its changed and for the better.Great place to get your certification or gear up or just get a nitrox fill. Staff are friendly and helpful and theres a real growing family of divers breathing much needed new life into the west sound scuba scene. And BTW if youve thought about diving, stop thinking about it and just do it... They have regular certification classes (I think at least monthly or more often but dont quote me on that... call or stop by and just sign up) During the whole COVID scene its been my sanity check. Nothing more COVID safe than breathing your own compressed air supply underwater. ;)

I needed a refresher-hadnt been diving in 25 years and I have an upcoming dive trip. Sound Dive was FANTASTIC. For a VERY fair fee, I got all the instruction I needed and as much pool time as I needed to regain my confidence. They had several instructors with me and we had a blast. They are fun, super encouraging, they have excellent gear and all the knowledge needed to get me back into SCUBA. If you live on the peninsula, this is where to go for all things SCUBA.

As a first-time diver living in Canada, you would think I would never cross paths with this great scuba shop on the west coast in the US. But that is what happen with me and Sound Dive Centre. I was looking for a specific mask that was not being produced any longer and I was hoping to find one remaining anywhere. I had already tried all the authorized dealers in Canada but started calling some dealers in the US. Sound Dive ended up having a few left and I was thrilled. The staff were great. Jim and Cheryl were very patient and answered all my newbie questions. However, the biggest thing was the lengths Geoff (the owner) went to, to help me get the mask in time for my trip and save me some shipping cost. I had a friend’s PO Box at the border but realized that I was probably beginning to sound like a bit of a scam, pay with one card, ship to different name/address (you know the drill). Geoff apparently had been burnt once previously but wasn’t about to let it get in the way of building a new customer and after proving my identity to him (nothing crazy) he decided he was going to trust me and sell me the mask. Needles to say, I got my mask in under a week and I’m thrilled. If it hadn’t been for Geoff’s willingness to accommodate me, I think shipping would’ve been a bigger headache, cost a lot more and might not have made it to my home in time for my first dive trip. Thanks again guys and can’t wait to use this mask in Lombok, Indonesia! Highly recommend Sound Dive. Will shop there again for sure. Maybe even visit if I go see my friends in Vancouver.

I’ll start by saying there are a decent number of good review for this dive shop so we may have just caught them on a bad day. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a good experience. We arrived about 40 minutes prior to closing and as soon as we walked in we were told that they were planning to close early, but “I guess you can look around”. We decided to stay because we’d driven quite a ways and left work early specifically to go there and check out gear. We’re fairly new to diving and trying to figure out what gear we’d like as a starter set-up. We asked what size wetsuit they thought we would be and this was their response: “Are you buying a wetsuit from me today? I’ve fitted too many people who decided to buy online so unless you’re going to buy a wetsuit today I won’t help you.” We did not feel welcome at all, and any company who treats their customers like that clearly doesn’t want the business. We left after that without further comment. Hopefully this was a one-off experience, but we won’t be returning.

Ive been to MULTIPLE dive shops as Ive moved over the years. Nobody in their right mind would give a good review to this place. I wish there were more options in the Bremerton area. This is a screwball, unprofessional, cutthroat business. The help here is mostly arrogant and snobby as well. Obviously, the positive reviews are coming straight from the shop. Theyve aggravated my friends as well. Investing a grand or so in the right compressor sounds better and better every time I visit here.

I have had a good experience with sound dive center. I have obtained my open water certification. I have also had my stage 1 and stage 2s rebuilt thru here. in both cases I was overjoyed with respectfully and kindness I got. im now working on my advance diving certification. In my open water certification I was called away to go to do a project for the U.S Navy and the willingness to work with my schedule is something you do not get from a lot of places in the states.

I simply can not say enough good things about Sound Dive. I came to them in a bit of desperation. I was nearing the end of my PADI open water class and my PADI shop did not have the 3x wetsuit that I needed to complete the open water dives. I walked in and explained my situation hoping they would be willing to help me out with a wetsuit rental. Even though I was talking PADI class and Sound Dive is NAUI shop they still went above and beyond to help me get a wetsuit so I could finish my open water class. Bret the manager is very informative and was instrumental in making sure I had the gear I needed to finish my class. After meeting and getting to know the staff I really wish I had taken my open water class though Sound Dive. Whether its gear, classes, general troubleshooting or fantastic customer care Sound Dive simply can not be beat

This is the only dive shop in the immediate area. It holds a decent amount of scuba gear.As a PFI trained freediver and serious underwater photographer this shop continually lets me down on inventory that is of use to me. I also get the impression by the attitudes of the employees that I am less than a diver because I choose to explore on a breath hold

I dropped off a regulator/octo that I have used many times but not in a few years so wanted to get it serviced, just to make sure its still good to go. I didnt hear from them for a few weeks so I called to see if it was ready and they said it was and that it would be $221 to pick it up. I couldnt believe it! They never called to tell me what it needed or that it would be nearly that much! I was thinking maybe $20 to check it out. It is not nearly worth it for me to get it. That is not a good way to run a business. The guy was rude and condescending when I dropped it off too.

I was introduced to Sound Dive Center via the Navy. Having been stationed in Bangor, WA as Rescue Swimmers, my buddy and I were in need of exposure suits for the cold waters of the Puget Sound area. After talking with other Rescue Swimmers and Divers my buddy and I wound up dealing with Sound Dive Center. Service was great all around and I really appreciated the heart the staff has for the military. The eperience was so good Ive obtained all my civilian diving certifications out of Sound Dive Center. Its far too easy to get on here and flame a buisness anonymously. Ive seen mostly anonymous reviews, likely from the same individual, flaming the shop. Ive not seen one fair negative review in the lot. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable and extremely willing to work with people for classes etc. I was able to complete Open Water and Advanced Certifications despite having an arduous duty rotation and deployment schedule. Highly recommended.

I recently moved back to Vashon after 19 years in florida. I recieved my open water there. Where of course the waters are warm with very little currents . I came into the shop a few days ago and spoke with a lady whos name I believe was Cheryl. She was very patient with me, seemed very knowledgeable on the pros and cons of the different equipment and the differences between here and what diving I did in florida. In fact she dove some of the same places . She spent a great deal of time with me. Although I only left purchasing a new set of gloves and a hood. I will be returning to rent and purchase more equipment in the near future
