I went to buy some Cable Wraps for my Sailboat, not the electrical type. I had purchased some at the Gig Harbor location and while the person was helpful, he couldnt locate them on computer. I eventually Found them behind the Racks of Sailboat equipment. But I perused the store looking for some other items I needed and the prices are really high compared to other places.

Great service and decent selection for the location, but the prices are INSANE.

Impatient for a dock line and not wanting to wait 48 hrs for Amazon, I drove the 20 minutes to West Marine. $75 for the same line Amazon charges $24 for. Ive purchased line from Amazon before, and holding the West Marine line in my hand I was able to compare and assure myself this was apples-for-apples. I knew when I left home I would pay a bit more at West Marine. But, 3x?!?! Nope. Compared a few more items quickly (fuel cans, vhf radios, cleats, etc.) just to confirm that I will never again get in my car and drive to a West Marine when I need a product. I went right back home to patiently wait for the dock line to arrive in a couple days.

My job entails working with a hose pretty much all day long...went to West Marine here, bought a $15 nozzle and realized immediately after returning to work that it was faulty...it leaked all over the place.It was a few weeks before I made it back out to return it...and was refused, due to the nozzle missing its packaging, meaning...the little construction paper backing it was attached to.The reason? Because it couldnt be resold without it. When I repeated that the unit was faulty, I was then told that it was because they couldnt return it to the manufacturer.Its not that big of a deal, but I make a hair over minimum wage...and making a twenty minute trip to purchase a defective item is aggravating all on its own, then being denied the return...this place isnt exactly on the way to anything.And the exchange transpired oddly, as if the clerk was looking for a reason to say no from the get-go, initially stating that he didnt think they even sold that model. Had to lead him back to where they kept it...thats when he noticed the paper-backing and let me know he couldnt refund unless I hat it.I painted a boat last year and must have spent close to a grand with these guys. Most of the stuff I could have gotten off of Amazon for a very notable reduction in price, but it was about the convenience of being able to grab it same-day.You take away the convenience and theres just an out-of-the-way store packed with stuff thats expensive enough where the last thing youd want is an issue with returning something should there be a problem. With the default setting seemingly set to no, this is a place you may want to avoid unless youve got money to burn.

One of the best stocked modern marine supplier around. They are a bit pricey on most items but unless you order it online West Marine is top notch equipment. So it was Wednesday midday and the young man who greeted me was nice but lacked on knowledge of the marine industry, but he tried and everyone has to start somewhere, right. He informed me of the upcoming winterizing sale which was half the reason I went. I will be waiting for the sale as there are some things Ill need. Overall my experience was good and see myself getting those specialties and maintenance items for sure.

Over priced with terrible service. Sometimes they are the only option for boat stuff, but they often charge double what you pay online. When it was time to check out the entire staff mysteriously disappeared.

Got lots of supplies. Info is kinda slim. Asked a customer about what he would do scenerio. Was spot on. Lady I had talked to, had no clues. But I still go there for what I need.

Avoid these guys like the place if you can. They tell you they price match Amazon and others, but they wont honor it. I paid 79.00 for a plug I could of ordered the night before and had about the same time I walked in there with the one day delivery for 49.99. When asked I was told oh yeah, we just changed our policies. I have no problem with changing policies, but post them for people to read.

They are unfriendly and not helpful. We were in there about a week ago and they did not answer my husband questions.

We had been looking for kayaks. Although we were experienced with paddling, we have limited knowledge about what to actually purchase for our family. We went all over town asking the box stores for help. West Marine was the only place that could give us any information and knew their products. We made our purchase from them and plan on returning.
