Derrick was a great help, I was looking for a screw for my m.2 SSD I purchased and was having no luck anywhere and he not only checked if my motherboard came with a stand-off but he also went ahead and gave me the screw as a friendly gesture. He not only helped me with that but he also went ahead and looked for a cheap keyboard for me to look at and although I wasn’t able to get it today he has me wanting to come back in the store and grab not only the keyboard but a million other things for my PC. They are very friendly and knowledgeable here.

I bought a pre build PC from another company and on arrival the card was dead (I took it to MIT Computers to find it out), they held onto my PC for a week or so and put the new card in for me which the diagnosis covered. They were very understanding and knowledgeable. Anytime I have a problem I will definitely come back here. Derek and Vinny were great.

I grew up. Building my own gaming consoles. Been out of the computer world for a very long time and needed some help. These guys know their stuff, made some great suggestions, and overall saved me $700. Im definitely going to come back and recommend these guys to all my friends.

I had a good experience taking my laptop to be fixed by Vinny. He was very nice and respectful, and got my laptop fixed within an hour. I would recommended for the quality of work that they do and how fast they will take care of you. They have five different locations around Tampa which makes it more convenience for the client.

I was in the market for a new computer for audio production. Homework was done drawing comparisons between on-line builds and local shops, and I decided it was best to go down and examine my own parts, etc.The guys behind the desk (Derek/Vinnie) are very personable.Long story short, I built my computer there.Pros - Great turnaround, great build, beast of a new system, friendly guys.Cons - a bit overpriced. Examine your parts before building, bring your phone to comparison shop.Takeaway - I feel good about my build but slightly annoyed that I feel overcharged. I would do it again but with a more comparative eye, or just build it myself.

Derek and his crew are amazing!!!! My external hard drive was corrupt and had all my school work on it. I took it to BestBuy and they told me the hard drive would never work again. I was ready to throw it away but my brother told me to get a second opinion. I went to see Derek at MIT computers and they called me back an hour later saying that they could recover my school work and all my files! Trust these guys with any computer issues you have and dont go to Geek squad!!! They were so kind and very understanding and made me feel very taken care of!

Very pleased with my experience at MIT Computers. I took my gaming PC into the store to upgrade several components and swap it into a new case. They did a very good job and very fast on my computer with amazing costumer support. The only downside was the prices, in my opinion they are a bit high and need to be lowered. Recommended to anyone who needs help but if you can do it yourself I recommend doing it yourself.

The laptop that I use to run my business quit working unexpectedly on a Sunday afternoon. I took it to MIT Computers Monday morning, and they had it back up and running and ready to pick up on the same day before they closed. I was very pleased with how quickly they were able to fix the problem, and was also impressed by the friendliness of the employees. I thought the pricing was reasonable as well.

Recently, MIT computers built me a custom rig. It was an AMAZING experience. I had been shopping online for a pretty long time, and it was a refreshing experience to talk through each component with Derek. He was helpful, knowledgeable, and spent quite some time with me working through the details of the build. He was also patient, when I called him numerous times to check on the progress. Look, weve all been there. I havent been this excited, since I opened my first NES on Christmas morning. So, thank you, Derek, you made a forty-three year old male feel like a kid again. And now I have a pc, my teenage self would brag about to his friends. Take the guesswork out, folks...just go here.

I was looking for a new computer as my old prebuilt had died, and I wanted a new one built for me. I had already purchased most of the parts I wanted, and the guys at MIT Computers helped me find the remaining parts I needed, as well as assembled it for me completely in the same day. I did not expect to go home with such a nice computer, especially such a good looking one, in the same day that I was told from a different repair shop that my old one wasnt worth repairing. They were very kind and helpful, helping me understand a lot of the features and such, considering I dont know as much about computers as I would like. They even worked far past closing hours just to make sure everything was working right. I gladly recommend them to anyone looking to have a computer built for them.

Needed a bios flash done. Brought it in, in and out within 3 hours, very expedient. They were very knowledgeable, and let me know that the orientation of my AIO fans were off. Would recommend and will return if I run into any other issues.

They said they would call me within 4 days, they called me 7 days later. They gave me one price on the phone and it was much higher when I arrived. I was a miscommunication from the beginning. Would never come back.

DONT TAKE YOU GAMING CONSOLE!!!!! Took my PS4 up there early morning Tuesday, July 13 due to a broken HDMI port. I talk with the gentlemen and told him the issue. Paid a $40 non refundable diagnostic fee and was told it should be ready in 3 days and that they will call me before any work in case if there were problems. Waited and I never received a call. Thursday I call and I got a basic oh we are still searching to find out what’s wrong with it. Which I already told them but ok said they’d call. They didn’t until the next day. My options was pay $300 for a motherboard to be replaced, 2nd they’d have to send it out to try to repair it which would take weeks and cost me $180, or three find and buy a preowned PS4. I decide to pick it up. Took it elsewhere and guess what they fixed the hdmi port. Guess who’s PS4 is working. Didn’t get shipped out or nothing. They fixed it for $100 and didn’t need a motherboard. They did their job in 3 days. This place tried to get over on me. They might be good with computers I don’t know but don’t take you gaming console there.

Let me start off by saying, Derek, Venny and the staff are superb! From day one, they worked with me, added parts , took out parts, and never tried to beat me out of my pockets with the cost. Very knowledgeable and I wouldn’t go anywhere else! The energy and the vibe is what sold me. They were really patient with me on building a PC for my 8yr old son. The project turned out great and he loves it!

Miracle workers! After my laptop drowned in a flash Florida downpour I had no hopes at all. The only thing that worked was the indicator light on the caps key, otherwise it was stone dead. I drained it, riced it, stroked it, nothing worked. I bought a new laptop the week after the sales ended and resigned myself to it. I hoped there was a slim chance I might recover my data from at least one of the two drives. The usual first choice, the behemoth buy, wanted a fortune to even plug it in so I looked where I always did. The neighborhood computer repair guys. I googled around and settled on the obvious choice for a rainy Saturday afternoon, near and open. Thankfully I did. Not only were they able to tell me my drives were intact and so was my data but they then told me they could repair it. I was amazed as water poured out of it when turned over that day. Sure enough a few days later it was repaired for less than one third of the cost of the new laptop which wasnt as good as this one but for less than the chain store was going to charge to analyze it and copy off the data, excluding any repairs. Add to that they were friendly, answered all my questions and answered them correctly (hear that one blue shirts lol). I highly recommend MIT Computers as your first choice whether you need a miracle or just a blessing. Thanks guys at MIT, you have another customer for life.

I went to multiple stores before this looking for a very specific ssd card screw and they help me find the exact one I needed.

Extremely professional. They were super fast; I showed them my laptop and they quickly determined the problems. Within minutes, I got the $ quote; Same day, I walked out with my laptop working perfectly and lot faster.

I went there in need, left with great laptop and all the specs. About 3 weeks later had a issue and returned the laptop (no problems) and ultimately needed a faster, stronger computer. The 2 guys their went beyond what I expected. And the knowledge alone, I would of paid $39.99 just for the information about laptops from commercial stores. GREAT PLACE, GREAT EMPLOYEES- NEVER GOING ANYWHERE ELSE!

My Xbox started giving me start up errors and I was advised to bring it to a computer repair shop. I chose the shop based on their reviews and at first was very happy as the customer service was great as was the timing. The fix that they proposed initially did not solve the issue so then they went a little further and replaced the hard drive. About a month after I brought the Xbox in, I brought it home only to find it still wasn’t working. I brought it back and a full month later I still hadn’t heard anything. I called the store and learned that they were essentially out of options. So now I’ve picked up my controller but gave up on the Xbox. It’s $140 I won’t get back, and I really wish they had fixed it or at least stood fully behind what I had paid for the fix. I’d be fine if I didn’t get my diagnostic fee back, but since the fix they applied and the new hard drive ended up not working I can’t help but feel ripped off.

This is the second time I have my laptop repaired at MIT Computers in Brandon. Both times they have been able to fix the issue in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. Derek provided a professional and friendly customer service. I will keep bringing my laptop to this shop in the future, and would recommend it to everyone in this area.

Your guys prices are insane. I agree with the reviewer from two months ago. I wanna support local businesses but your mark up is ridiculous. Covid prices isnt an excuse any more. Power supplies are coming back in stock every day. Charging a premium for someone to try and talk down to me is just downright ridiculous. Terrible service and terrible prices. Just buy from anywhere else at this point.

Its hard to explain about these guys, I gave my laptop to fix keyboard problem .They came up with Hard drive issue associate with keyboard.I ever seen booting problem with my laptop. They created 2nd problem with hard drive and asking me to replace hard drive with $250.Boys be careful with these guys.Make it clear before handover your laptop. I prefer not to go.

Brought my PC that we bought the parts for and put together ourselves in. It just was not getting to POST or BIOS. They were able to figure it out and keep us up to date 100% of the way. These guys are great! Definitely would recommend.

Andrew was a great help and got my computer working again. I called in an hour before closing because my google chrome was having issues and needed it to work for an 9am exam the next morning. I went to 3 different repair shops before coming to MIT computers. They all told me my iPhone was unfixable and to trash it or sell it for parts. I came to MIT computers and they were able to fix my iPhone for a very cheap price. The phone woks as if I had just bought it. Next time I will make MIT my first stop. I will not be going to anyone else . I highly recommend.They even worked on my iPhone after they were closed to make sure my iPhone was back up and running for the weekend.I forgot to mention. The 1st place I went to stole my original battery along with other parts that was inside the phone. This was confirmed by the other places I visited today. That company has a bad reputation of doing things like that. MIT Computers replaced all of the parts for me..

Went in today thinking my system had a short lived power supply. Thinking I was going to have to get a new one. I went in for a simple diagnostics thinking it was going to lead to my hypothesis being correct about a faulty power supply. But that was not the case, Derrick was very helpful, knowledgeable and committed to getting my rig back and running. With a simple phone call I headed over to get a diagnostics for a small fee. And in a couple hours Derrick had my system up and powered on.The problem was that my case power button was broken. Rather than trying to scheme me out of my money and get me to buy a new power supply. He simply rewired my front panel connectors and made my reset switch my new power on button. Derrick has a great attitude and genuinely loves his work. 10/10 recommend visiting this place if youre looking for honest and good working service. I could not thank Derrick enough more.

Do not bring your ps4 or gaming systems here. I brought a ps4 to be cleaned and first off they charged me 40.00 to look at the machine when i already told them the problem was it needed to be cleaned on the inside for dust. They then called me 4 days later and said that it would cost 80.00 just for a simple cleaning. Then they proceded to try to charge me for the thermal glue to hold the heatsink back to the ps4 motherboard for a grand total of 120. I pay the 80.00 and i get my ps4 back and the disc drive now has a problem reading disc which i never had that problem ever..To boot i could have paid 60.00 to another game store for the exact same service minus my disc drive now not being able to read disc properly..please if you have a game system go somewhere else

Overpriced. I wanna help smaller businesses, but I cant justify paying 30-40% more for a specific item I was looking for that day when I can just go to an online retailer and get it significantly cheaper. Just disappointing thats all. im sure your customer service is good, but your prices on certain items are price gouging to the max.Update: the item im speaking of literally found it when I got home for 80 dollars cheaper and bought it that day. They are not hard to get your just making an excuse and using the pandemic to price gouge like many other retailers and certain online sellers. Sorry, Ill stick with online.

Service and timing is absolutely GREAT. Derek helped me out so much and he was very welcoming and concerned. I recently contacted hp to help fix my internet issue and they tried to charge me $300+ but Derek gave me a reasonable solution and my problem was fixed within minutes. I 100% recommend coming here.

I took my computer here to have it fixed.I paid 99.00.When I took it home it wouldn’t turn on.I called them back to explain my computer wouldn’t turn on and it worked before I brought it there. They just said sorry it’s nothing we can do. So you just got 99.00 from me and you didn’t even fix my computer. What a rip off.I will never go back to this place or recommend any of friends here.

After reading the earlier reviews, I chose here to run a diagnostic on my laptop. The face-to-face experience was really pleasant, and I was promised the diagnostic would take about 24-48 hours. After paying for the diagnostic and leaving, I called 72 hours afterward and they didnt have my diagnostic. When I told them Id visit to pick up my laptop, they told me they were running the diagnostic.When I went in to get my laptop, they told me it would take about ten minutes or so to re-assemble my laptop since it was mid-diagnostic. I asked them how long it would take without stopping the test, and they told me about 30 minutes. Fed up but tired, I decided to leave the laptop and return the following day, when they had finished the diagnostic. I finally picked up my laptop with the diagnostic.Overall, Im leaving two stars because the customer interaction was actually really good. Unfortunately, the business made a promise they didnt keep ⁠— promising the diagnostic would be finished within 48 hours, yet I didnt get the diagnostic until more than three business days. (I gave my laptop on a Saturday and the diagnostic wasnt finished until Wednesday, and I picked it up on the following Thursday.) I felt I had to visit the store to get them to do the diagnostic, which is something that I shouldnt have needed to do. I need my laptop to do vital work, so this felt like a major waste of time. Either way, I wont be visiting again.

We had traveled to Brandon from Charlotte via air travel and during the flight my computer bag fell from the overhead. Upon arriving the laptop wouldnt load and said it had no operating system. We called Derek at MIT Computers and he took us in and found the hard drive had been loosened during the fall. Once it was back in place, all was well.Thanks to Derek for taking care of this so quickly!
