A fantastic store with a fluid, but limited, selection of products. Staff are always friendly and ready to have a conversation about your hobbies! This review is written from the perspective of a retro video game collector.Inventory: 3/5- Not many games at any given time, but they are constantly bringing in new stock and rotating product. Its worth it to visit once or twice a week.Value: 5/5- They base their prices on current market value and always try to beat the trend by at least a few cents. In addition, Managers Specials and 20% off storewide sales are common.Location: 4/5- Plenty of parking. Bathrooms are under lock and key and leave something to be desired. Organization is there, but not perfect. Games are often separated and stocked in 2 or 3 different sections of the store.Overall: Im giving a 5/5 due to friendly staff, great value, and constantly rotating stock. The records are clearly a primary focus, but The Great Escape is still worth visiting for game collectors!

I am a minority. It seems they are very demeaning to minority customers. They requested photo ID for a 5 dollar item. I have knowledge that they did not ask for ID for non-minority customers. They were essentially asking for your papers before allowing you to buy with a credit card. They would not even let me use my debit card which requires a pin. I spoke to a manager about this policy over the phone and he lied about their being a sign about this policy in the front of the store or in on the website. How can they accept payments on their ebay store with credit card without ID but not in the store? Pure hypocrisy. They should really put a sign about this and all acceptable payment methods. If you are a minority beware of shopping at this location if you dont wish to be insulted.

Stores like this are a dying breed. This one does media sales great. The prices are reasonable and they seem to have the required passion for media. The staff maintains the 90s cooler-than-you music store clerk vibe as youd expect. Im okay with that. I bring my kids here to experience a great physical media store.

The focus of the store has.changed a lot since the Pac Rats days. For me, I rarely find what I want here and special orders have gotten shuffled into the regular inventory. That said, everything else about the store is great. Friendly employees. Fun atmosphere. Good spot for comics and vinyl.

Staff is a bit rude. Once I was in a hurry and instead of checking my things out they talked amongst themselves for almost ten minutes while I stood at the counter. They have lots of good deals on the stuff on the shelves, but Id stay away from the display case. They could at least do some research on their games before they price gouge. Im not a cheapo, I just do research online before I drop money. Another problem I had is when me and a friend purchased a Sega Genesis model 1. The controller ports were messed up and we couldnt play anything. They should really test out their consoles before they put them out to be sold. And beware of you do decide to buy from the case. I managed to find a good deal on a PS1 game, and it was the only game in my collection to give me the red screen of death. BOTH discs. Very disappointed.

Its a unique store but what a lot of people call atmosphere I call run down. It seems rather unorgainzed. This might be the place for record heads, but as someone who likes to check out video games and board games, there is much better selection and service elsewhere.

Great Escape comic holds: They have yet to get my hold on Old Man Logan comic correct for several months. I placed the hold order for Old Man Logan in March and every month I go in for my hold and every month I take an issue from the wall because my book has not been held for me. Each month for 7 months it has been incorrect. September will my final visit if my hold isnt correct.

Best place in town for retro games. Really the only place in town, but great nonetheless. The prices are for the most part great. I see people writing bad reviews for their lowball offers to buy things, but thats because they sell things for CHEAP. Most of their PS2 games, many of which will run you 10+ dollars online, are only $2.99 to $6.99. I went in expecting to get one $20 game and walked out with a stack for $15. All games were in great condition and complete, great value for great products.

I started going to the Great Escape back when it was Pac-Rats over by the old Kroger. I used to love going to that place! This place is ok but still not what I fell in love with. And maybe Im biased by the old crew and experience. Prices here are a little high for used and the selection doesnt seem to be what it was even 5 years ago. I still stop when Im in town but its just not the experience it used to be.

The store is fine and has a big selection of random vinyls, collectibles, movies, and games. However, dont try to sell anything to them and expect to receive anything notable . I recently gave them a large bag filled with CDs, DVDs, video games and controllers, as well as dozens of collectibles in new condition (some were special edition) and was offered $25 for the whole thing. Not selling here again.

Da

I took in over $1000 worth of my walking dead comic collection expecting them to at least offer a decent price, despite their horrible reputation in the southern Kentucky community for ripping people off. When I came back to pick my comics up after they looked at them, they offered me $310, so I left. Long story short, Great Escape is always going to rip people off, so dont ever take your belongings to them, unless you want to be disrespected with their lowball offers.

I bought a game system from here an XBox 360 E 500 gb to be exact. The system is a potato tried to get my $75 back and return it. An what do you know their games work but not mine. How ironic. So then I decided to go purchase more still doesn’t work. So since they wouldn’t work with me at all and were really rude about it when all I was wanting was help with a purchase, you get one star. I’ve never wasted a good amount of money like that before and will not be back, considering it was my favorite place to buy comics as a young teen. Extremely disappointed. Took it to gamestop and just got $20 so at least it wasn’t a big rip off, even the GameStop guy took it apart and showed me it was fried. 👎🏻 Know what you are selling to people, please and thank you!

This place is terrible. Not only are the prices high and they wont give you anything on trade ins. But the staff and employees are really rude and unprofessional. Only the manager will greet you, other than that they will ignore you and just sit in complete silence while they check you out. Probably the most annoying thing is that they talk a lot of politics in there, which I dont want to hear while Im shopping. They will talk about guns and how much they love them, which I dont know why they need any guns cause they all live in their moms basement anyway.

Record Stores are notorious for indiffrent/inexprienced/un-concerned staff...blame the one who does the hiring...a reflection of that person perhaps? Anyhey....best best is to locate a true audio facility that knows....yes those are almost on the non-existent side.....if one has a Technics 1200 series with the screwable mount, plenty of stylus/needles will work...I use Ortofon. Most likely, many of you all have other turnatables...would suggest Jerry Raskins Needle Doctor (online) who do have a wide variety of stylus/needles....good customer service who will help you fit your turntable (and they do have a physical store too! Grand Rapids Michigan I believe)As for trading in records....Great Escape is notorious for lowballing offers/bad service for evaluations of the vinyl....try either Grimeys or Phonolux in Nashville......not the best service at times either...but somewhat better offers. As for the record selection at G.E.,quite good depending on ones musical taste(s)Best bet is to just browse and get your music and dont bother the ones on that day....injoy the experience and check out and then go!
