These guys were amazing!!! After dealing with a debacle from the apple store, and not getting my battery replacement in my phone, I called the Mac Shack to ask if they did these repairs. Magically they had a same day appointment so I didn’t have to drive back home (I live 30 minutes from Boulder), and they got the repair done right away!!! And my phone is good as new 😻And they were the kindest fellas, Dash and I didn’t catch the other fellas name (sorry about that) are absolutely amazing! I highly recommend!!

I CAN NOT say enough about how amazing my experience with The Mac Shack was, specifically Eric, one of the managers. His tech knowledge and customer service were OVER THE TOP. Im referring everyone I know! Apple Genius Bar looked at my Mac and said my logic board was dead. They referred me to a place where Id have to ship my computer and it would cost $2000 for data retrieval! Before I did that, I brought my MacBook to Eric and he solved the problem for free! And he spent a lot of time explaining it all to me so I understood what was going on, how to avoid the problem recurring in the future and telling me how to handle it if it happens again. I cant say enough!

I went into the store with a broken MacBook Pro, thinking I would need to have my hard drive replaced. Dash opened up my computer and did some diagnostic work. Within 15 minutes, he had my computer up and running again, functioning perfectly. No charge. I have been a happy customer of the Mac Shack going back to the early 2000s, and this is why- excellent, friendly customer service and a very knowledgeable staff.

Made my day! Last time I had taken my laptop to an Apple store for a battery replacement they had not properly tightened several screws in the bottom. After stoping by the Mac store for what is a simple remedy, was told I not only needed an appointment, but would need to pay them for replacing the screws they had not properly installed. Luckily, took my computer here, they simply added the missing screws, and kindly answered some questions about Apple products while I waited. Skip the actual Apple store and same time and money here.

Really awful customer service! Went in to have a laptop assessed for trade in valueβ€” was told I would receive a call within 2-3 business days but after no missed calls or voicemails after that timeframe and many failed attempts to reach the store or any employee I was forced to visit the store. When inquiring I was met with an employee who told me to β€œlearn how to use my phone” and then after a refused explanation of the trade in value a β€œforget it, I’ll go get your junk computer.” Highly shocked by these reactions, I left and will never return. No one will ever be referred to this chain of stores by me, especially this Boulder location!

Cody, Eric, and Julian were extremely helpful, understanding, talented, and professional. Not only did they fix my damaged computer in less than 24 hours and call me immediately when they opened to tell me the news, they were also always willing to answer my lengthy and somewhat worrisome questions. Mac Shacks employees are extremely thorough and experienced, more than the Apple Store. Additionally, their prices are extremely modest/reasonable. I am absolutely going to recommend Mac Shack to my friends and family. The Apple Store can take up to two weeks to fix computer damages, even if you have apple care. Therefore, everyone should go to Mac Shack because its cheaper, faster, and better service!!

I just wanted to share with you the Great service I received from your team at The Mac Shack Boulder. Specifically a young man named β€œWill”. He was courteous, very helpful with my questions, and was prompt on the servicing of the issue we were having with my Dads computer. I had first gone to the Apple Store at 29th St to get help with the issues with my dads computer. Needless to say they could not help with the issue because my Dads computer was obsolete and out of warranty, 2011 MacBook Pro, they did suggest the Mac Shack for possible fixes. The computer only needed a new battery and an up grade to its hard drive , which β€œ Will β€œ gladly explained what I needed and stated it would take about three to five days for repair. This was on Monday 3/2 . That was ok since I am in Boulder each week and could pickup at a later date. I live up in Greeley. He ended up calling and leaving a message that our Computer was completed the very next day. Wow, What a turnaround on repair. My Dad is 85 years old now, I am Thankful he still can operate a computer and he was very pleased about the speed of service. The computer works perfectly and is a lot quicker in performance. Excellent business! They have the new equipment for the early adopters and the state-of-the-art-junkies, but, more importantly, they continually fix and refurbish our older apple machines. As apple continues on their path of increasing disposability of their equipment and their computers become less and less serviceable by users, the Mac Shack has extended my ability to repair, and continue to use, my machines at a fraction of the normally exorbitant upgrade costs. They are all apple mechanics more than sales reps, and, for a run-it-into-the-ground type of user like I am, theyre the perfect resource.

I took In two computers to have diagnostics run to see if theyd fix them or buy them. Was told diagnostic was $45. Later they called and offered me $25 per computer. Both Macbook pros. Then they wanted $95 to just tell me what was wrong with them. I went and picked up my computers and took them to the apple store. Apple immediately fixed the issue. One was just missing software. They also forgot to screw back in everything on my 15 Macbook Pro. So when I got to the apple store the showed me everything was missing screws. It wasnt that way when I took it to Mac shack. I called and they promised to put it back together. The apple store in Flatirons mall fixed it.

Bait and Switch and left with a broken computer - all over $150! I could not tell you strongly enough - DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!! I have never written a negative review but As they said, they have been there 20 years and one customer wont matter - shame on them! I came to them, not the Apple store down the street, to support the private business. They were recommended by Apple and I have spoken to Apple and they are reviewing the case to take them off the recommended list. If you do not speak computer and you sign their document, they say they are not responsible - I have a computer that was given back to me that DOES NOT WORK. They fixed my hard drive and wiped my Microsoft office suite and wouldnt be accountable. It was $150 to do the right thing and purchase it to reinstall it but b/c I signed the paper that said I might lose my license key I should have known what that meant. In order to make this right they could have purchased the Microsoft suite and they refused - $149. They took more time/days to complete a job they said would be 7-10 days. I asked to purchase a new computer and they told me I could have a new hard drive installed for 1/3 the price. I agreed and the hard drive that was about $400 + Labor...3 phone calls later, telling me that I had to pay more b/c they made a mistake I INSISTED on the original agreement and they finally did the work. I have a new hard drive but Im not able to open my Microsoft applications; something they never disclosed that the replacement hard drive would wipe my Microsoft suite and I would have to have the Microsoft box I purchased 6 years ago available to use word/excel,etc. They say they explained it using computer language and insulting me that I didnt understand. I live 2 hours away - they said too bad. If you are not a computer person or tend are older than 25 you might want to avoid this place as I was treated like I was a moron. The apple store - right doew the street fixed the situation and was kind, respectful, helpful, and stood by their product.

This review is a warning for those planning on selling their broken Mac.Have the Apple store look at the laptop first! Mac Shack staff is very friendly and professional, BUT you could potentially lose a lot of money because of how Mac Shack operates their Quote on Sale program. The Apple store does basic diagnosis for free (even if you have no Apple Care). The Mac Shack charges $70 per machine.I wanted to sell my 2 broken macs, so I took them to the Mac Shack for a no obligation Quote on Sale. I got a very comprehensive overview that they will look at whats wrong in order to give me a quote, but they wont disclose the contents of their diagnosis unless you buy their $70 diagnosis service. It is obviously not in their best interest to disclose diagnostics info when theyre just giving you a quote for a sale. They said they do this because most people will use their diagnosis to simply sell the laptops in other places. However, the Apple store does not have this insecurity, PLUS Ive heard Apple store staff referring customers to the Mac Shack for things that are not in the customers best interest! They also said that I should not be surprised if I only got $50 per machine. They called back quoting me $100 for one machine, and $150 for the other. (minus $25 for each missing power cable).A friend told me to go to the Apple store before I went with their Quote. So, I took them in, and on the spot they told me that both logic boards were on recall, and they would replace them for free in 3 days. Additionally when I got the laptops back, they had replaced 2 hard drives, and several cables, and a cracked piece of plastic. They also gave me back my old hard drives, and installed clean copies of Mac OS X on the now new machines. Thousands of dollars of repairs for FREE, with no Apple care needed! While Mac Shack was not unethical in their non-disclosure of a recall, it did leave me with a bit of a strange taste in my mouth. They did give me full disclosure of their terms, so I cant blame them for working in their best interest.!Probably the most ethical thing for Mac Shack staff to have done would be to first ask the customer Have you gotten a free diagnosis from Apple first to see if there are any recall on the machine? No? Go there first, because its not in our best interest to do diagnosis work for free and tell you whats wrong with it. Come back here and well be happy to work with you. Or - a basic serial number lookup would have revealed the recall, and they could have referred me with almost no work on their part - while earning trust that they value customer service over a few bucks!

Incident: After taking my MacBook Pro 13-inch for a storage upgrade which would take 10 business days (they said they had a very busy timeline) I went in to pick up my Macbook. Upon delivery and presentation of my Macbook Pro by the clerk, it turns out half my keys on my keyboard do not work and the other half are assigned to the wrong keys. The clerk pulled my laptop into the back room and told me to call back tomorrow for an updated delivery time. The next day, I call back and it turns out one of the technicians messed up some wiring and they would have to order a new back-panel which houses the keyboard and the battery and it would take ANOTHER 10 business days. I reluctantly agreed to let them take hold of my MacBook Pro after seeing the results of the first repair. After the extra 10 business days pass for a total of 20 business days (over 4 weeks including weekends and pickups, which is especially detrimental to a student at the start of the semester) I walk into the store to pick up my MacBook Pro. The clerk shows me that my laptop works keyboard and everything. Sounds great right? Actually, my laptop does work, only sometimes. Now every time I leave my laptop closed for more than 15 minutes (sleep mode) and then reopen the macbook, the Apple logo on the back lights up and stays on, regardless whether I close it or not. Screen stays entirely black and my device starts to run super hot (fan spins violently trying to cool laptop). In order to use my macbook, I have to do a System Restart every. single. time. Gets real old real quick, especially when Im a student walking in between classes having to fully reboot my entire Macbook with no time to spare. Conclusion: I will not recommend their services to my friends and family. Not sure if they had a bad employee at the time or whatever it may be, but their current reviews do not actively reflect the horrible and lengthy- experience I had with them. Would give zero stars if I could.Pictures Show: Missing Screw, Loose Screw, Broken/Missing Foot from The Mac Shacks repair. The next time something comes up with my computer he will be on speed dial : ) When you have a computer, its important to work with someone you trust.... That is Cody at MacShack. Thank you Cody!

The hard drive on my mac mini finally crapped out and I came to these guys to buy/install a new one. Low and behold my computer still sucked after the new drive was put in because the amount of RAM I had on the computer was below the minimum required by the new OS that was installed. It was a small detail that was overlooked both by them and myself but they felt really bad about it and offered a couple different options to resolve the issue. At the end they hooked me up with a couple GB of old RAM sticks they had lying around the shop for free to get my computer working until I can afford to add more in the future (although even now my computer is sooo much faster!). Thats some pretty epic customer service if you ask me. I would definitely recommend these guys to anyone with Mac related needs!

I went The Mac Shack because my iphone screen was cracked. After leaving it overnight with them, I come to find that they disrupted the LCD component which made my screen flicker around the corners. I brought it back so they could replace the screen again, and they returned it to me with a jammed home button. I had to bring it back once again so they could repair it without any mistakes. This quick fix turned into a week long process, and they were very resistant on giving me any sort of compensation.

I honestly could not have asked for better service! My experience at the store was amazing. I had a broken hard drive in my iMac, and within 2 days they had called me to let me know when the replacement part was scheduled to come in, and when to come pick up my completely fixed iMac.These guys have made a customer for life! Thanks!!

I have been to the Mac Shack for three different issues. The first issue was covered under AppleCare. The service impressed me so much that I came back for the computers latest problem: accidentally downloading whack malware. CJ fixed it on the counter in 10 minutes. That was great news because otherwise, I feared leaving it there for Thanksgiving week.

I brought my iPhone 6 into their store after calling them a hour prior. I got there and they were magically out of the part AND didnt even bother to tell me when theyd have more of the part coming in. Despite this, I tried coming back 2 days later and got my phone fixed HOWEVER... They tried to charge me over $200 even though they told me over the phone that it would be cheaper, my speaker no longer worked, my touch ID doesnt work, and the screen is noticeably a lower quality part than my original screen. When I went back the next day to see if they could fix my new issues they told me that my touch ID would never work again as it is specific to my phone and once that cable is ripped, it is done. They replaced the speaker in my phone and charged me an additional $30 for it. And after 6 hrs of waiting, they apparently broke my screen and had to replace it again- though they didnt charge me for another screen.Waste of time, money, and now my touch ID doesnt work.

For 60 bucks, I got my macbook pro repaired professionally and selectively under warranty. Since Ive after marketed a lot of my 2012 Macbook pro (17 inch, 2.5 GHz i7, etc), Apple wouldnt even look at it. I dont have much time anymore to tinker so I put it in the hands of the Mack Shack, and couldnt be happier. They also have some pretty decently priced, refurbished laptops and imacs. Its a locally owned business and the customer service (even on the phone) is actually motivated to help you. Ive probably only had one job, maybe two, where I enjoyed my job enough to be as courteous as these guys. Theyre doing something right over there..

My MacBook Pro from 2008 died and I was an idiot for not having a backup. Called Apple in despair but while their guy wrote up a case number for me, I could not make an appointment with the Geniuses because I forgot my apple ID (which I dont use all that much). Took it to the dudes at Mac Shack and they rocked in terms of 1) availability; 2) customer service; and 3) working through all the available options step by step patiently. After finding out they couldnt back up the hard drive, they went to data recovery and with over 87% recovered, I still cant figure out whats missing yet. The computer went back to Apple for a flat fee fix (logic board had died!). Everything came back in less than a week (just before Xmas!) at an extremely fair and upfront price and I am very very grateful to the Mac Shack and CJ in particular. They fully deserve their great reviews. (Im backing up today!) Thank you, CJ!

This store is AWESOME!! I broke a key off my macbook pro and had gone to the actual apple store to attempt to get it repaired prior to my classes and was told I would have to wait until tues/weds before the genius bar would be available to fix it. I was fine with that in theory however I needed to take notes and did not feel like having to deal with a broken key! I decided to go to the Mac Shack on the Hill to get it fixed and they said it would be no problem to fix! Took the laptop to the back and I believe CJ fixed the laptop but the gentleman who greeted us was a different man but both were awesome! They fixed it in literally 1 a minute and did not charge me a CENT! I recommend this shop for sure and am so thankful on my first day back for classes they eliminated one stress off my hands. Thank you!

I cant believe Im actually taking the time to write a review. Honestly Ive never felt less respected or more taken advantage of by a store.I came in and described that my laptop was not charging when plugged in. I showed the employee my charger, which was frayed and duct-taped together, as well as mentioning myself that I thought the problem could definitely be related to the charger. The employee then ran a test on my computer and told me that my battery needed to be replaced. This was guaranteed to be a day-of or overnight service. It took 5 days, from Wednesday to Monday. When I did finally pick up my laptop, I came home to find that my laptop was still not charging, despite the brand new battery. I then went and borrowed a charger from a friend, which charged my computer instantly. When I went back into the mac shack and said I was still having my issues, and said once again that the problem was my charger, the manager then performed tests on my charger which showed it was failing. These tests were never even mentioned the first time, despite me saying i thought the problem could be related to my charger. At this point I was left with the option of buying a new charger, which, as it turns out, is all I needed in the first place. I would have taken the option where they could put my old battery in, but with a 5 day turnaround on a promised day-of service, I no longer trust the Mac Shack to do what they say they will, and having a computer is too important to potentially put my life on hold for another 5 days while they fixed their mistake.Never once was I offered any sort of an apology or discount on anything related to the 5 day late service which i didnt need in the first place, or the charger which i had to buy on top of the 210 dollar battery that I was essentially tricked into buying.Probably the only review ill ever write. I will never consider going to the Mac Shack again.

I took the MBP of a friend of mine who had a diving accident. His MBP was dead and he needed to get a backup of the SSD as soon as possible since it contained videos and pictures from his last trip that had a lot of value, since they were doing archeological diving. He was at the hospital recovering and the MacShack guys took on the job, bumping the priority of it and getting it ready in 2 days... and in the end didnt charge for the service. This is truly not just a technically savvy business, but a humane one and I was surprised by their generosity. Thanks MacShack for your work. It was well appreciated.
