In addition to the oil change, I asked them to check the idle as it sounded a little off to me. Initially they could not find anything wrong. But after discussing the issue in more detail, the technician went back and investigated further. Even though the issue was subtle (something needed cleaning) he found it and fixed it. Now my 20 year old car runs like a dream. I am most impressed that they listened to what I had to say and trusted the fact that I knew something was not right. Ive been going to them for 15 years and never regretted it. Nice people who do good work at a fair price. Highly recommended.

I have taken my Jeep Wrangler to The Auto Repair Place multiple times over the past year and have always had a great experience! Everyone here is respectful, professional, and genuinely interested in helping you and fixing up any problems your vehicle may have. They continually keep you in the loop about the repairs process and additional issues or suggestions they have, as well as the cost for each repair. They even give you a detailed receipt at the end of each service to keep for your records. Their services have always been fast (large repairs have taken only a day or two at most) and willing to address and fix anything that doesnt feel right after they have done repair work. I am so glad to have found a trustworthy place to take my Jeep and will continue to use their services in the future!

My ford ranger pickup, with ~111K miles, suddenly lost power on the highway for no apparent reason. Had it towed to Auto Repair, which has maintained it since I purchased it used at ~99K miles. Engine would start, but not provide power; oddly, no check engine light was on. They read through a series of diagnostic messages and correctly located the problem to be with the air flow meter. (I am not sure if all service shops would have gotten it right on the first try). They repaired it and got it back to me quickly, despite a high demand on their time with many repair jobs.I have used them for this and another truck, both of which were used vehicles that need accurate diagnosis of problems and preventitive maintenance; Auto Repair has always been very thorough and transparent with regard to problems and pricing; I have no reservations about recommending them highly.

Funny thing, I have never been to The Auto Repair place. I live in New York State and my son goes to college in Boulder. Two years ago he had Hyundai Sonata. He brought it to The Auto Repair Place for a repair. They told us that the cost of the repair would be more than the car was worth. They could have repaired the car and I would have paid.I feel that they are not only trustworthy but have done an excellent job with my sons new used car.As long as my son is in Colorado we will continue using The Auto Repair Place.

I dropped my work vehicle off the other day. I told them about the issues I was having. They sold me on a new battery after “performing multiple tests” ... a couple hundred dollars later I was able to start it up and drive away. Two days go by and I’m stuck on the side of the road once again. I understand that sh*t happens but I wish they took more time initially to fully diagnose the issue. I think they’ve gotten comfortable serving with Boulder elite and forgot about the working class man with one vehicle.

The Auto Repair Place is awesome. They have been repairing our family vehicles for over 20 years. Last year my wifes car needed a new engine at 180,000 miles. She did not want to get rid of the car so the Auto Repair Place technicians/staff replaced the engine with a factory rebuilt engine. The car runs great and they saved us money compared to what the dealer would charge, not to mention what it would have cost to replace the car with a new one. They have worked on the following makes of vehicles in our family fleet: Ford, Toyota, BMW...including my 2004 BMW M3 convertible.

This time around, Mike, in the front office, got me in right away and was straightforward about what maintenance items needed immediate attention vs those that could wait. I bought a 12 year old Tacoma that had 102k miles on it that had been maintained at this shop for many years. The Auto Repair place sent me a copy of all of the maintenance records by the previous owner and reinforced my confidence that this truck had been meticulously cared for . . . and when I had the inspection report from another shop provided confirming what great shape it was in, I felt that I should continue to have The Auto Repair Place continue to maintain my truck!. . . and then I brought them my used RV and all three of the cars we have had in the past 6 years!!

Hello to whom it may concern I just wanted to let everyone know that this auto shop was very unprofessional waited 8 hours for a phone call to follow up on my vehicle and they never called. I had to call them was very poor communication and told me they did not fix the problem I came in for said the codes were not coming up when I had it at pelmans automotive shop a month ago and they told me what’s going on. Then they tell me the code that came up was a evao system small leak. Then while I’m trying to pick up my car after this unprofessional experience I had they tell me they just fixed the evao hose after I just told them I would write a bad review. I’ve delt with a lot of shops but this experience takes the cake. I will never recommend this shop to anyone!!! Thank you

Ive been taking my cars here for many years and have always been impressed by the service and honesty. Never felt like they were trying to sell me on something unnecessary and always trust that they will do a great job.

I have had many great experiences with the Auto Repair Place. The biggest events were being stranded twice with a disabled vehicle. Both times I had to be towed by AAA to their shop. It was so nice that the Auto Repair Place has a deal with AAA and it was very easy to get my vehicle to one of AAA’s repair places. The Auto Repair Place fixed my car within a day and I was off and driving back to work with minimal time loss. Also...... their professionalism makes me feel very confident with their service. And.......they throw in extra benefits like putting in the extra low temperature washer fluid in your car when there are freezing temperatures. I want to thank them for everything.

Needed to have AAA tow in my 02 Jeep Wrangler. Turned out there was spark plug fouling and heavy carbon in the cylinders. Also found several leaks in the valve cover, rear differential and radiator. Although didnt expect the job to grow I was glad they identified all the problems. I would recommend their shop if your vehicle needs obvious and not so obvious repairs.

Failed my emissions test. Took my truck into the Auto Repair Place and they got it all fixed up. The turn around was fast and they followed through the next day to see how everything worked out, which was a personal touch that I really appreciated.

I came to this place based entirely on Google reviews, they make the site little justice, the feeling I got just talking to Mike was one of honesty and sincerity. The attention the mechanic paid to my comments and the Jeep sounds was like being with my Dad (he was a mechanic long time ago) and checking my old Oldsmobile. The repairs were quick, and the checks were detailed. I drove my Jeep back more than satisfied with the job on the breaks and the transmission. And the cost, excellent, for the service given. I went to the Auto Repair Place yesterday for the first time and I had a fantastic experience. They were open even earlier than 7:30am and I was able to drop my car off worry free and head to work. They didnt nickle and dime me and tell me lots of things had to be done with my car, like so many car repair places I have been to. They were fast, efficient and honest. And the best part of all, they washed my car too! If that wasnt enough, they gave me a fresh cut rose as I left. This was the best car repair shop experience I have ever had.

This was an educational experience. I learned things about the mechanics of cars that I had not known. I recently had two cars serviced here for the first time. I would highly recommend everyone to bring their cars here to be worked on! I brought in my 1985 Dodge Ram B250 van after having it fail an emissions test and had the guys replace pretty much the entire exhaust line. They did an excellent job on the work and Mike kept me up-to-date on all the goings on as the van was worked on. The service was incredibly high quality, everyone I spoke to was extremely friendly and I could tell how much care they put into their work. Could not recommend anyone else more highly! 10/10Needless to say, the van passed the emissions test with flying colors after the mechanics at The Auto Repair Place did their job :)

Not the cheapest, but if you want the job done right the first time with professionalism, dont go anywhere else in Boulder. Ive been with them for 20 years and love the way they track what has been done when. Theyll know if its time to do the breaks and offer to do the rear shocks at the same time as the front but let you know the rears have another couple thousand miles left.

I couldnt be more pleased with their services! They were quick, efficient and very helpful. They also recommended AAA for my tow, which was the cheapest option, and lead to an additional discount after my vehicle was ready to be picked up. They looked at my Honda CRV the same day it was brought in and had it ready for me the following evening, even though the damage was relatively substantial. I was allowed to pay over the phone at my convenience and pick it up after hours upon my request. They also washed the outside of my filthy vehicle and left a sweet little rose inside. I would recommend this place to anyone in Boulder!

Excellent experience every time. Last repair was for a leaking power steering pump. it is a hard pump to replace. The first pump they received did not work. The second one leaked. The 3rd one was perfect. It takes a lot of patience to replace something that difficult three times. No inconvenience and only the first charge.

Walked in today with space heater I wanted installed in my van I am turning to motorhome. Employee went out of hes way helping me and studying problem that he was not familiar with. We are relatively new in Boulder. Looking for a shop that looked and sounded like they knew what they were doing. Auto Repair Place is the 3d or 4th shop I have tried. I was immediately impressed by Paul, the service supervisor. I know a little mechanical stuff and he was on my wavelength. They immediately diagnosed the power steering problem and tightened up the belt. (Another shop told me Id have to replace the pump.) They fixed a few other problems that I hadnt noticed. Washed the car gratis, all for a very reasonable price, and fast.

Competent, honest, good customer service, and competitively priced. Weve been using them for years. They will send a shuttle to pick you up or drop you off while youre getting work done. They are also very respectful of women in an industry that tends to either condescend to or swindle women. My wife is almost always the one that deals with them and shes never had a bad experience.

Thank you so much for getting my drivers door to open and close, and to put it up on a lift to check to make sure the car was safe to drive, after someone did a hit and run on my ancient Subaru, parked on the street. The Subaru is too old to bother with expensive body work to fix the car-length scrape, but I needed to be able to be able to operate the drivers door. Thank you!

Knowledgeable, thorough, courteous. Ended up doing estimates on repair estimate for an old beater at half of the expected/quoted cost, didnt take as long as normal and they didnt charge me expected cost. All you can ask for in a repair shop. I wish their rates were lower, but they seem to be at market rate.

I used to work at a dealership shop. So I know how bad/good shops can be. This one is like a small town shop that you can trust. I took my 1972 Ford F100 there to have it throughly checked out. I informed them I wanted it to run well and be a daily driver but didnt want to break the bank. Paul was on the same page the entire experience. He kept me in the loop and even called me weeks after the repairs were made to make sure I was satisfied and to see how the truck was running. I have since brought the truck back for new tires and other minor repairs that I wanted done. This reminds me of a small town shop where I can trust the work that is getting done and I know they will be reasonable. I take all my newer cars there now. Not many shops like this anymore and I am happy we got one in Boulder.

Mike is an excellent customer representative. Willing to take the time to discuss and explain all aspects of the work to be done. They do a thorough job of inspecting and and evaluating problems and recommending the work to be done.

If you are comfortable paying the rate of $194.00 per hour for inaccurate information, this is your place. My 1991 Toyota Previa van flunked its emission test so I took it to Auto Repair Place in Boulder for evaluation which costs $184.00 (+$10 fees). The van is 28 years old with 248,810 miles on it. It runs great, quiet and smooth and everything works including the AC. (but the temp gauge is temperamental). With the back seats removed, I use it only occasionally and only locally as a truck for hauling. After their assessment I was told neither O2 sensors were working and the catalytic converter was probably no good, that it was too rusty to work on, worn out and not worth fixing. I checked it out myself and agree the sensor threads were rusty but I also immediately spotted the problem. There was an obvious pinhole just beneath the O2 sensor. I repaired it myself in 15 minutes, took it for emissions retest the next day and it passed easily. So obviously the O2 sensors were working and the cat converter was fine and yet they charged me for inaccurate information and told me to junk the vehicle. I asked for a partial refund as I feel the assessment should have at least informed me that the pinhole was likely the problem and that I could fix it myself. But I was arrogantly informed they dont do band-aid repairs and they would not refund any of my $194. They knew the van’s age and mileage and with that attitude they should not have accepted the job. Also, it appears the evaluation consisted only of checking the onboard computer data along with a cursory glance at the exhaust system. An experienced technician should be able to do that in 15 minutes. But let’s give them an hour, so that’s a rate of $194 per hour. (I asked how much time it took to evaluate and was told 2 hours. I don’t buy it. My guess is 15 minutes. That’s a rate of $776 per hour)So If you are comfortable paying that rate for inaccurate information and rude treatment take your car to The Auto Repair Place on Arapahoe Ave.

They have always given me a prompt email and phone call detailing their thorough assessment of my vehicle so that i know whats in need of repairs and what costs are associated with it so that i can decide what i want to do. They get the repairs done in a timely manner, and their prices seem comparatively reasonable.

I have had an ongoing issue with my truck where I have taken it into several mechanic shops to get it fixed. Every place I have taken it to has said that the problem was normal and that its a feature. I soon accepted this condition as being a part of the norm. Recently I took my truck into The Auto Repair Place for an unrelated item and was told about a problem they detected causing issues which I referenced above. They were able to quickly diagnose and fix the issue as well as everything else that I brought it in for. I highly recommend The Auto Repair Place to actually fix your car and to do it right.

I like this place. The shop is clean, well organized, well equiped and the service writers will let the mechanics show you things about your vehicle. They employ professionally certified mechanics. There were no hidden charges popping up. They are not the lowest labor rate but you get what you pay for. I would recomend them without any hesitation.

In my fifty years or so of car needs and repair issues, in various parts of the country, The Auto Repair Place is easily the best--they know what theyre are doing. My 1998 Mazda Pick-up runs almost like new.

Honestly the best experience Ive had at an auto repair shop. I thought I had to replace my AC compressor which would be an $1100 job because they dont make the parts for my car to bypass it. Mike was very understanding and was willing to get around that by experimenting with adapting a belt from another car to do the bypass for only $200. Really went above and beyond what Id come to expect from a mechanic and they threw in a free car wash to boot!Edit 1 year later: I just went here again and they adjusted the valve lifters for me cheaply and quickly. These guys really are the best and they are very good with customer service too. I dont know much about cars and most of the time being a woman who doesnt know her way around cars has led to people being condescending and trying to rip me off. The staff here has never been anything but nice and honest and if there are other women reading this who arent car savvy, you probably also understand how rare that is.

I usually do most of my own maintenance, but this time I had a fuel line broken in a very inaccessible place, and did not want to do it myself. I was very glad to find a shop that would work on it. They fixed the fuel line, and repaired a number of other safety issues that I had let go too long. A friendly and competent place!

There is none better than The Auto Repair Place. I have been taking my 93 Thunderbird and 93 Lexus to Paul and Mike for years. They give me precise information, price and time-table and ALWAYS deliver just as promised. I have never had as great an experience from any other auto repair place, even from new dealers.

A little on the expensive side but thats expected in Boulder. Ive always received an honest opinion from them and quality work. Ill continue to bring my vehicles there for jobs that I cant do myself.

Its not always easy to find a shop that works on RVs but this one does, and very well. Mechanical work and customer service were both excellent.

I needed work on my camper van, so lets just cut to the chase -- they charged me a fair price for the leaky gasket, extra to change my oil because they had to put it in the tall bay, and several *hundred dollars* to replace a fuse because they couldnt find it and the labor was subsequently quite a few hours. So, they dont practice value-pricing at any level, they do what they promise to do on time, and Id probably go to them again. However, it would not be my first choice.
