I had a great experience having my violin repaired with Paul Wiessmeyer. Paul has an incredible amount of experience and can diagnose issues with sound right away and explains the issues clearly. Workmanship is top notch - it’s a pleasure to work with Paul and it sure beats being just one of many at the large suburban shops.

I bought a nice violin from here. Paul offered me great service. He kindly showed me his violins and gave me very useful tips for beginners with interesting stories about violins. I held a violin he recommended and decided to buy it. When I revisited this store for string change, Paul friendly changed the string with a detailed explanation. I am so lucky this store is my close neighbor.

One of the best experiences Ive had with a violin shop. I had an emergency repair and Paul went out of his way to get it done within 24 hours so I could play at a very important gig. The service is always kind, the people that work there are all wonderful, and Paul is one of the most knowledgeable and informative luthiers Ive met. I will definitely be coming back to Weissmeyer Violins for future repairs and rehairs!

I asked if the owner could mail the violin to me after I picked online, and then Paul drove all the way from Boston with his six violins just so I can play them myself and pick one by hearing it. That’s the most professional attitude I’ve ever experience, 5 stars is an understatement, I should give you 10 stars. Vielen Dank!

I brought my violin to Paul for an adjustment after having taken it to other places for minor sound adjustments. None of the various adjustments I had had before really managed to make my violin sound to its full potential. So I decided to bite the bullet and to have Paul take a look at it. After hearing my violin, he was able to pin point the exact issues I was having (and how to deal with them) and worked to tailor the sound. After he was done with the instrument, I ended up with a more responsive and resonant violin. Plus he is super friendly and really cares about the work he does. I will definitely be going back in the future whenever possible.

The perfect one-stop shop for all your violin, viola & cello repairs, appraisals & cool unique practice mutes! Paul Wiessmeyer is a true expert & master of his craft with decades of experience - he takes his work very seriously & always delivers repairs with the upmost care & attention to detail. I had a fantastic experience getting my old violin’s bridge straightened out, new strings & new hair for my bow all for a great price while supporting a wonderful small business. Paul is also very personable & a patient listener which I really appreciate. I recommend trying out his 3D printed patented practice mutes as well! I will definitely be back here for tune ups when needed! 🎻

Recently got a violin, and suspected the sound and playability could be improved. In about an hour, Paul did just that! As he put it, the instrument went from sounding like a nervous singer to one singing from the soul.I have also brought my violin to him for repairs and maintenance a couple times, and he does a great job for a fair price. I highly recommend him.

I’m in love with my violin again!I hadn’t been happy with the sound of the violin for years. I tried taking it to various violin shops in the area, but no one was able to bring the violin to its full potential.I recently made an appointment with Paul because my pegs were sticking to the point where it had become almost impossible to tune the violin accurately. During the appointment Paul made some suggestions about trying different strings and making some changes to the setup, including a new tailpiece. The results are astounding! The sound is rich, clear and balanced. The peg work that Paul did makes it easy to tune precisely.I also purchased a couple of mutes that Paul and his son designed and manufactured with a 3-D printer (a regular mute and practice mute). They provide a beautiful sound and they look great.

Needed some basic work done—rehair + seam closed on my cello. Paul was responsive, always on time, and got me sorted in a couple of days. Will definitely be my go-to for any future instrument repair needs. He also has some very cool 3D-printed mutes

Not sure about some of the one-star reviews here, particularly because they dont talk about their experience. I visited Paul for the first time a few days ago. He was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Really enjoyed talking to him. Definitely recommend going to visit him for your string instrument needs.

I brought my viola in to check for damage after an on-stage mishap, and had a wonderful experience with Paul. He worked with me in making sound post adjustments, and recommended additional upgrades to get the most out of my instrument. My viola sounds better than before and I will be back for more help from Paul in the future. Thanks for the great service!

Went to look at cellos and pretty taken aback that the owner didn’t want to spend 5 mins showing me instruments (after I called ahead) because he assumed I wasn’t a serious buyer. Not a great feeling to be left with.

I got my violin appraisal today and I can tell that Mr. Wiessmeyer is a very knowledgeable luthier and also easy to communicate with. He introduced 3D mute to me and the color is stunning! P.S I really enjoy it after I practice at home with different mutes. Highly recommend this workshop to everyone and to my music friends!

When I had an accident at work with my viola, I knew I had to go see Paul Wiessmeyer. Not only is he an extremely skillful luthier, with years of experience, he is also very nice and empathic. Paul understands it is not easy when your instrument needs to be fixed. He listens and is thoughtful and honest in his assessment. As a music therapist, these are qualities that I highly appreciate.I felt I needed to write this review, particularly after reading the one written by someone supposedly named Jay Ferguson today. I cant believe that review is real.

I have not been to Wiessmeyers in many years, but will be visiting again soon as I resume playing. We used him for many years, to care for the familys cello, violin and viola. We had instruments evaluated for insurance, bought strings, rosin and a had a multitude of repairs. He is reliable, excellent, professional and a pleasure to deal with.

The new 3D mutes made with plastic are amazing! (same design as the leather mute, which are a great invention too, allowing the instrument to produce overtones yet in a soft dinamic, something that you dont get with the rubber mutes or others in the market) The new place is great!
