I scheduled a consultation with Closet By Design. I had researched a lot of options before hiring them and decided to let them install instead of buying the materials (at Home Depot - Lumber section - not closet organization). I went through pictures - told them what I wanted and paid them approximately $5k - of course up front - and was extremely dissatisfied when they were installing in APRIL 2021 It was not what we agreed on and not what I expected and NOT what they showed me in their bro hires. And now they won’t correct the design. Additionally / 3 months after installation the finish started peeling and they are saying I damaged the shelf after installation. I have this gorgeous room decorated professionally and a subpar closet. Pictures are attached of 5k worth of closet. Don’t be swayed in by their 40% off and free installation ads. It’s a ripoff and a gimmick. Find a reliable carpenter who won trip you off and who will do quality work

I recently renovated my entire house and I needed a dream closet. Kelly designed the perfect closet for me! It has drawers and shelves and is everything I wanted it to be. I never thought my closet would be big enough. This design is perfect. She really took the time to figure out what was important to me shoes, bags etc and built her design around that. I recommend her without reservations. The installation also was fantastic. It took several hours and they cleaned everything up. Kelly called me after to make sure I was happy with the design. I was so happy! I had my girlfriend call Kelly the following week and had her design her closet too.

Closets by Design of Long Island was amazing. Colleen, my designer, was a pleasure. She designed a closet that is beautiful and has left me with more room than I could have imagined! The installers were pleasant, quick and clean. And I couldnt have gotten a better price anywhere! Wonderful experience!Another beautiful closet from Closets by Design! Thank you again!

If anyone is considering hiring a company to design and install closet space, I strongly recommend you DO NOT use Closets By Design. I began a relatively simple walk-in closet request back in April. The company has measured incorrectly, represented the product incorrectly, scheduled incorrectly, installed incorrectly and Im still waiting for them to get Parts in from Canada (which is probably a bunch of bull) so they can complete my installation. The sales manager (Heather) didnt return my phone call, neither did the owner of the Long Island franchise (Matt Caemmerer). It’s the middle of September and I have no idea if or when I will hear from this company again. Dont make the same mistake I did...

Very disappointed;good design but horrible experience with quality- a lot of scratches, discolored doors; one door to short; drawer hit each other; countertop instead to be one long piece(i was not aware i have to have a seam!) i have two separate pieces with gap in between on top of that the gap is not in the center and it looks terrible.My sales rep was nice and polite and responsive before project was finalized.After receiving full payment everything changed. Much harder to reach.Project was done in March. It’s July now and i still can’t use the furniture because issues are not resolved. Sales rep was in my home 4 weeks ago to review the problemsCompany is reopened after pandemic and still nothing.Don’t waste your time and money!!! go somewhere else

We had 2 custom closets made and they came out STUNNING! They were so helpful with the design and making sure everything was functional and practical. The installation was a seamless process and the men that installed the closets were so respectful of our home when working. My husband and I would 100% use them again as we continue to update our house!

From our initial meeting until the end of the project we had a great experience. The design, initial sketch and pricing, all was done during the first visit in a timely manner. Kept the schedule date for the installation. We were really happy with the carpenter who did the work. He was very focus and boy he was neat. I asked him to be very careful with the walls. Not even a scratch. He was very careful and respected our request. It made all the difference for us. We did our master bedroom walk in closet, laundry and pantry. Amazing finish. I will upload some pictures when I get the chance. Highly recommended!!!

Am I happy with the product? Yeah. Am I happy for the money that I paid? Not. At. All. This process started way back in December for a custom built entertainment center to replace a previous one. Met with the designer and everything seemed great. Finally got an appointment in the beginning of March for installation and this is where it went sideways. For starters this is a fiberboard product with a wood veneer, not wood. I wish this was made a little more clear to me. Then as the installer got started there was a huge flaw in the design according to his papers and he hung the top cabinet 10 inches lower and not flush with the ceiling as originally stated with the designer. Thankfully I caught it and he was nice enough to fix it promptly. After that the countertop was cut too short in the factory. I called and spoke with the manager Steve who couldnt care less about this. I was treated as if this was my fault like I changed my mind on the color or that I somehow expanded the width of my walls the night before they came to install. It then took another 4 weeks for them to finally come and install the countertop. It was considered a service call even though the installation was never complete. When they got here this morning they werent informed about having to drill the hole and place a grommet in the top piece. As a finished product there are several blemishes in the wood and chips on the edges. I have NO complaints about installation. They were all GREAT and wanted to do a good job. This is clearly an office issue where communication not only with each other, but customers needs to be improved. As for any consideration for not being able to use my new unit for 4 weeks, dream on. But know for fact they got their money right away by charging my credit card as per the payment schedule.

Closets By Design does an incredibly detailed job and was overwhelmed when they finished my project (Wall to Wall Closet/Entertainment Center (pic shown) + Closet+ Pantry). Not to mention I spoke to multiple companies and this was the best price for the quality I was expecting. All that being said I recently broke a handle and found out the CBD near me is no longer in business. I reach out to the Bohemia location and get greeted with a warm response and no issues immediately sent me multiple replacements. Every person has been great to work with (thanks Sue!)

Awful company. I ordered a custom-made wall unit from them, and after demanding payment in full, they delivered a product that was absolutely covered in chips, dents, and scratches.When I reported the damage, the first words out of their mouths were “NO REFUNDS.” Sue, one of their managers, was supposed to come to my house to investigate the damage but didn’t show up; she sent an email forty-one minutes before she was due to arrive saying that she wasnt coming due to some fabricated excuse, but at that point I had already left work early and rushed home to accommodate her schedule.Since then they have made no effort to rectify the situation. Im out $6000 thanks to them. I made a video documenting all of the damage (the pictures below are just the tip of the iceberg). Our salesperson was great. Diane. But she says sorry. Cant help us now..... Very excited to finally get our pantry installed after 3 month wait we were told the installer would wear foot coverings. Never did. He left the job unfinished (shelving in pantry not secured and dangerous as we have little children. Finally get a call back after 2 days. Missed it. Ive called back and left 5 msgs. Still no one gets back to us. No date to finish job. Saw dust left all over front porch and screws in our driveway. They wasted no time charging my card before the job was even started though (2nd paymeny) What is finished is nice. Thus the 2 stars. I guess we got a shoddy installer and since they got their $ no Interest to finish the job or at least call back. Wasnt cheap. Expected better

Thanks to closet by design long island, I have a beautiful cabinet that has now transformed my basement into a cozy nook. Thank you. The installer was very professional and respectful of my property , the design by Colleen is perfect.

Great experience from beginning to end! Colleen is very friendly and knowledgable. She knew exactly what could and should be done with our fairly small closets based on our needs. I am utterly amazed at how fantastic they look and how efficiently the space was used. The install was quick and neat. I am beyond thrilled and only wish I had done this sooner.

Colleen was amazing!!! She helped us design our bedroom closets and pantry. The installer was so accommodating, super nice and extremely neat and efficient. I can’t say enough great things about them. The price was very reasonable as well.

Closets by Design in Bohemia designed and installed 2 large master bedroom closets. Elaine was our salesperson, she was fantastic to work with. She created computer images so we could see exactly how the closets would look before we agreed to the design. She met with us a few times before we finalized the designs and she made good suggestions along the way. A couple of weeks later the installer came and was able to complete the job in 1 day. The installer was neat, caring and a perfectionist! He cared that drawers were properly aligned and wiped down everything before he left. The closets look amazing and more importantly, they work perfectly well for what we need. I will definitely use them again for our other closets.

I never write reviews but.....I priced out several designs from several companies before choosing Closets By Design. I then did some research and came across a few bad reviews, which caused me to cancel my order. I was going to pay more from a competing company because I did not need a headache while building out my walk in closet.Sue the manager called me to explain the reviews and ensure me that my experience would be an A+ one if I gave them the opportunity to earn my business. Understanding that sometimes-bad reviews can stem from many things and not be an indication of any real issue with the business, and appreciating the fact that Closets by Design took the time, showing me personal attention I went with Closets by Design.The result was a 5 star experience from beginning to end.The process was transparent, smooth, and resulted in a closet my wife and I are both extremely happy with. I highly recommend Closets by Design and can attest to their professionalism, attention to detail, and concern for their customers satisfaction. This company rose to this job. Salesman, Don worked with us and provided us with everything we wanted at a price we were comfortable with.The install team was great. It took nearly 6 hours to assemble this wardrobe. This company doesnt use prebuilt they custom made this piece for us when other companies said it was not possible. I would recommend you check this company out if you need a closet or a custom made piece.

Less than one starI never expected that this company would be unorganized and irresponsible. Even if the fault lied with them it came down to the customer having to pay extra for the loss. They made a mistake in one closet they made for me and suggested that I buy a new one again and not fix it. Its ridiculous that the price is high for particle board material. How can they offer a good cover for the product if they cant resolve a simple problem.Suggestion: Try a different company

Don was our salesman, and he was great. The installation was quick and very professional. I only have a double wide closet with sliding doors and never thought I could have an insert. But, they had do! I have more hanging room and more organization for everything else. I love it!!

Carol Fischer is the representative who came to our house and sold us our closet. She was fairly aggressive in making us a beautiful closet, and making sure the sale got done. We are very happy with our closet, but there was some minor damage to the closet materials, and our walls, during the installation. We have tried to have Closets by Design, and Carol Fischer, take responsibility for the damage, and repair it. A month has gone by, and I cannot get Carol to answer an email, and I cannot get Closets by Design to come and assess the damage. I would not recommend this company to anyone. They do not honor their warranty, and they have ignored us, since they collected their money.

I have used them twice now and recommended them to a bunch of friends. Everything from design to installations went perfectly. Colleen is so easy to work with and the young men who installed were courteous and NEAT! They wear booties over their shoes!

The worse service ever. First I schedule an appointment and no one shows. Sue calls me the next business day and tells me the person that scheduled me wrote the wrong number down. OK. So, fool that I am, I schedule another appointment with Don. He comes to my home, takes up about two and half hours of my time, promises to give me a quote the next day, and nothing ... no response. Then I speak with him two days later to see if he was still sending something, he promised that night I would have it. Three days later ... I never heard from either of them again. If you want your time wasted, call this place. Awful service and Im so thoroughly upset that I even allowed them in my home.

This company sucks. Stay away!!!!
