One of the best fly shops in Minnesota. Very well stocked with all the supplies one needs if theyre a fly tyer... Too many shops these days are just fronts for a guide service. This place though is very well stocked and the customer service is great

Ordered a custom Muskie rod - 9’2 Predator and it is dreamy. They said it would take 3 weeks to make and ship - it arrived in 14 days. Had my name custom painted and a lil Muskie hand painted on it too!! This rod slays the cabbage dragons. ❤️

Love this place. I like to shop local when I can which usually means sacrificing selection or price. Not here; you get it all, not to mention the advice and discussion of a small time bait shop. I’ve also had repair work done on some reels for a fair price and very timely manner. When you need fishing stuff, shop here first. I highly recommend!

I’ve never been to Thorne Bros, but I’ve been back twice recently. I ordered a striker prism jacket online in my size, and they made sure to call me right away when they couldn’t acquire what I really wanted. They pulled options in men and women’s jackets near my size, and set them aside for me to choose from the next day. Most other stores would just let you hang in the air hoping your imaginary jacket would appear months down the road. I am really impressed by their stellar customer service compared to some of the big box stores I usually shop with. My boyfriend and I will for sure be back to spend our cash here when we can. Impossible to get a response from any of their contacts. Tried the phone number - does not work. Tried email - no response. Tried Facebook- no response. This will be my first and last purchase... thats if I even get my product that I ordered that was in stock???UPDATE- owner called me and gave me a tracking number. Goes a long way for me for him to call me and admit they were wrong. I did order on May 5th and the package got shipped May 20th I dont know if that was on their part or USPS.

Thorne Brothers through the years has been nothing short of excellent in customer service, knowledgeable advice, and responsiveness. Living a state away I can usually expect orders to be delivered in 1-2 days. Kurt and the whole staff are always a pleasure to work with.

Stopped in today to have a reel gone through. Had what had to be the most rude, un- human sales person they had. Threw a piece of paper at me to get my information. Took my reel off the rod, that also needed some work. When I asked how long it would be he said 3 weeks. I told him that I cant wait 3 weeks in the summer and he tossed my reel down on the counter.I left and went south a few miles to a shop that is really friendly. Ill never step foot in this shop again.

Fishermans dream come true. They have everything you need and some you dont but most have anyways. I went in spoke with an employee that I think was more then an employee, curious of muskie fishing but worries about the fierce monetary value behind it. This gentlemen got me all setup fairly inexpensive and said just try it, if you dont care for it you can convert the pole into a lake trout rod. Well thats what I did. I bought it, loved it and went back to purchase more from him. Would recommend Throne Brothers to anyone. They are very knowledgeable. Made me feel out of place cause of coarse I think i know everything about the one thing in passionate about and its fishing. They know more then anyone. Stop in and talk with the guys, youll be surprised, they made me feel very welcome being a rookie. That was awesome. Thanks guys.

Their prices are just a tad higher than the big name outdoor store in Rogers but their expertise and knowledge is well worth the few extra bucks. Ive bought multiple rod and reels from them over the last few months and have always been treated with respect. No matter if I was dropping a couple hundred dollars on a rod or honoring a sale price on a reel that ended a week prior. The entire staff has always been great!

Any time I need a new guide on my rod they are more than willing to help. Their fly angler workers are always willing to help thos who are interested. A bit over priced for some of their lures, But then again who isnt. All the employees have treated me and my family well. Even helped my kids pick me out a couple frogs for me. They are very knowledgeable as well. Dont be scared to ask questions.

I came in with my husband to look for lures for our upcoming week long fishing trip. We were going to change up how we fished and needed several new lures. We walked in and went to different locations in the store. The customer service was awful. It was clear I was equally as interested in the lures as my husband, yet he was approached by each employee and asked if he needed anything. Never was I greeted, approached or spoken to. I started to notice as men would come in the employees would greet them and approach them. So we left and spent out money elsewhere.

I walked in needing new skirts for buzz baits and some new line for a couple reels. I wandered into the fly fishing section and even though it was against his personal fishing preference, a nice Fly Fisherman (also he is an employee) showed me where the replacement skirts were. I also bought some new line and as I was checking out, the man at the register let me know that they will spin it up for me for free. I took them up on their offer and also received some advice on how to get my next lunker as well as some good luck wishes during my departure. They also sell some clothing, gaiters, hats and licenses! My family has been coming here for over 30 years and its clear why!!

Went in today to buy a new custom predator musky rod. Was a little intimidated considering this is only second year fishing for musky. Casey was SUPER helpful. He went over all of the options and explained his experience with various rod components adeptly. I left extremely impressed and excited for opener! Great selection of gear. Good prices on most stuff. Some other stuff, not so much. Good selection of gear and tackle. Only problem i had was a member of their staff was VERY biased when i was shopping for depth finders. I knew which brand and model I wanted and the guy damn near refused to sell me it because he insisted I buy a different unit. I ended up not buying it there and bought it elsewhere the same day. Besides that guy, its a great place for your fishing needs.

If youre an avid fisherman, especially for muskie, then Thorne bros is a one stop shop for all you big fish needs. They have a huge selection of bates and lures for big fish. They have stuff for bass, walleye and northern as well. They customize rods, and repair them as well, and also have a whole other side for the avid fly fisherman. I also recommend going to their annual customer appreciation day sale in the early spring, its family oriented and they have great prices on everything.

The staff is good at greeting and helping when your spending money but when it comes to dealing with a defective product, not so much. I had a defective reel and I brought it back and asked for an exchange and the response was, Theyre all gonna have the same deffect! Was given a refund which worked out fine but the way the employee handled the situation with his remark left a bad feeling. Failed yes they have, lost a customer they have!!

Repeat customer for a decade. came in to buy a rod and reel like I do ever 2-3 years. Got told I dont know what i want (Ive run the same rods for 5+ years, 250 hours a summer, love em) and got the HARD sell on the Predator rod. I wanted a St Croix Legend Tourney. Told me they didnt know if they had the Croix I wanted. I had called, they had 4. Long story short, paid full price for the rod, reel, and line and left feeling unhappy about it when it should have been the highlight of my day. I drove 45 min to get there and keep my dollars local. Ill stick with others or go online. Sorry guys.

Took my order but didnt actually have stock of the items I ordered. Got an email that said there would be a delay of a couple days. Three weeks later they cancelled my order e did not have enough stock to fulfill your order. Communication was poor, I reached out to them a few times with no response.

Sent a reel to be worked on, and after a month I contacted the maintenance guy and he said he was waiting for parts. 2 months later they called me once to ask for payment and to send my reel back, but my inbox must have been full because they said they were unable to leave a message. I finally had to contact them 2 months later to get them to send me my reel to use on a fishing trip I was packing for. They wrote down the wrong address and had to send it twice, to get it to me. In the long run they returned my reel before I was to leave on my annual Canadian fishing trip, but they were not easy to deal with and did not seem organized at all. Cant speak towards the workmanship yet, but perhaps Ill update the review later.**update to previous review.As I kind of expected, there was no improvement in my reel after getting it back from Thorne Bros. I took it on my Canadian fishing trip, and much like before it bound up after I landed my first fish. You can believe my disappointment. I cannot speak towards their sales staff, but you can be sure that Tom at Thorne Bros will never be touching my Shimano again. Very disorganized and ineffective.

Been a returning customer for a few years now. Its a good tackle shop but the live bait scoops have become incredibly small. Twice now this season I have had to purchase two scoops to get the amount of one scoop from any other bait store I support. Different employees with each Thorne Bros visit. One scoop of crappie minnows is 20 at most, No exaggeration. Really frustrating when you need to buy two scoops just to get an actual scoop. Had polite brief conversations about the scoops but I needed to purchase a third if I wanted more. Its a business, I understand this but they sure would not be happy if I was the one skimping on the scoops.
