Don’t waste your time looking for another restaurant, the Cellar Tavern is the best you’ll find. It’s absolutely fantastic! The kindest staff ever, great ambience, and wow, the food is the best we had during our 2w stay in Crete. Also so many vegan options, I was amazed! You have to try the Fava and the grilled vegetables, as well as their home made house wine, oil and olives - total dream!
This is probably the best traditional Greek restaurant in Kissamos, if not one of the best on the island. I’ve come here so many times. You have the sea right in front of you at your feet. The menu has a lot of Greek food options, great wine list, amazing service and staff, and the view of the sea and mountains is priceless. Amazing for a sunset dinner. Highly recommend it and it’s a place to always visit again.
This is my first comment ever, since we enjoyed that restaurant so much I wanted to give it 5 stars. The staff, the location, the prices and the FOOD everything was nice. It doesn’t happen often that all these factors are satisfying. We had fried calamari, goat and a mixed platter. Especially the calamaris were so soft... the goat was smooth and topped with GOOD olive oil and served with delicious potatoes. Even the potatoes were so good.
Honestly the best kleftiko I had in a long long time.Big portions and a very fair price.Staff is friendly and helpful.Bread comes at 70cent per person, but thats the lower end from whats usual in kreta.Only downside is that the cheese pie starter had, for my taste, a bit too much sage (or dried mint, not sure). But thats quite a personal opinion.
I enjoyed dining at The Cellar. We were seated next to the seaside. Our waiter was very kind and helpful. I asked for Grilled Calamari which I liked a lot. We also enjoyed a tasty starter.At the end of the dinner they treated us with some white wine, raki and a traditional piece of cake, all on the house.Wrapping up, the food was very good, the staff was helpful and nice to chat with, the place and the view are great to dine with friends or for a romantic night out.

I came here first time in 2019 and now back in 2021. I had a great food experience. Everything is just absolutely amazing. For those who love tasty food this is the perfect place. The staff is out of this world, friendly like I have never seen before. They adapt, give you whatever you like. I would chose this place over and over again. We went here for lunch as the reviews looked good. They were not wrong, we had a great lunch. We were on our way back to Chania from a morning at Elafonissi beach, hardly any detour at all.The service was good and the staff were friendly. You can’t get much of a better sea view with your lunch!They had a large menu with lots of options.We went for the tuna salad, avocado salad, zucchini balls and an extra side of feta. All of it was tasty and very good portion sizes. Lots of tuna in the salad!They have lots of outside seating as it’s all about the view.They take credit cards too.
Great food, not expensive, everything local, stuff speed fluid Englisch, friendly atmosphere. I can recommend it.
We dined there several times during our one-week stay and each time the food was very tasty. There is wide choice of Cretan and vegetarian meals. Staff is very friendly, professional and to be honest the best I have encountered in my life. Thank you for your hospitality
We had such a lovely meal and the atmosphere was great however this was ruined by a mistake on our bill which then turned all the waiting staff against us. I had asked at the start what the baked fish was (which was priced at €8.50) and what type of fish it was and the waiter who was very kind said that it was sea bass and told me how it was prepared.When we got our bill I was charged €12 for it which we decided to question and the same waiter told us that the Cellar Fish (a separate item on the menu) is what I had ordered and that it was €12. I explained that I had ordered the baked fish and not the cellar fish and he apologized for this. Yet when we then went to pay and asked to pay for the €8.50 fish that we ordered and not the €12 fish we were yelled at, discriminated against because of our nationality and called cheapskates.Im really disappointed and upset with the way we were treated and this is not the sort of treatment a customer should get over a small mistake on the bill.
A relatively average tavern that probably owes the bulk of its custom to an idyllic seafront location. Grab the right table and youll almost feel the sea spray as you dine. However, the food and service was only OK, as it swiftly became unmanageably busy for the staff on shift. If youre driving, the centre of town has a bunch of random parking spots, otherwise you can try your luck with (what looked to be) a gravel car park next door to the east of the tavern.

After a warm and family-friendly welcome, they brought drawing-coloring papers for children - not a big deal but it was a good introduction. Then the serving time was reasonable, the food was delicious, the portions were OK and the prices were fair. So all in all, its a place to recommend.
This place is totally recommended! We had dinner here for three times in a row and it has been amazing every time. Delicious food with a seaview and the staff is super kind and professional.They also have plenty of vegetarian options.No need to look for another place to eat if you are in Kissamos.

We came here having very high expectations. I rate this 3 stars because of the beautiful view (very greek island ish), one of the waiters attitude, the fruits that were given as desert and large portions. The first waiter was rude (he rolled his eyes after my 5yrs old ordered swordfish), they brought some bread to our table that we did not ask or touched and charged us 2.1 euros, the salad that was brought as a side for saganaki looked old, the seafood dish for 2 was swamped in olive oil. The soup was good, the swordfish was average. The food was below its price tag.

This was the peak of the greek hospitality that we experienced in Greece. The food was fresh and delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming.Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try some good food on Crete.P.S. you enjoy your meal directly at the beach with a great view!

Nice place with good food and big portions, the service was kind, friendly and quick. The views are excellent. They have plenty of options, including Greek and Cretan dishes, pasta, pizza and kebab. We went for the Greek and Cretan starters, then goat and lamb pie. All was very nicely cooked, I can recommend the Drakos!

We ate The Cellar a handful of times during our visit to kissamos in Crete. We were never dissapointed by the food, everytime all the food tasted amazing and came quickly and efficiently. They showed us was real traditional Greek food should taste like. All waiters and waitresses were friendly, attentive and kind. We will certainly be back🤩

The food was ok - not more not less. I didnt like my grill plate as much since everything seemed dry. The price was way too high for this quality of food and service - would only recommend it for the view - thats it

The only restaurant in my live I left hungry!First they served Greek Salad with green tasteless vegetables and tiny piece of feta. I thought, ok, maybe its not the main dish there. But then they bring traditional Cretan plate and this one was also bad. 2 for 2, but I still had the hope. For the main course I ordered Souvlaki, which was super dry, like I was chewing the rubber, plus it had the horrible smell. Cretan cats helped me eat this. The potato on the side was pre-backed and then reheated before serve, which tasted horrible. Couldnt finish it. Plus, they charged us the bread we didnt ask, but they still brought it anyhow.After it we went and took Souvlaki takeover on the street which had 3 times lower price and was 3 times tastier, made with all the fresh products.

Horrible, the service was so slow, we got orders in for appetizers, drinks and entrees and we got drinks and thats it! the dips and toast came with the food, which was 25 minutes later.now the main dishes were just ok, the lamb was very tough and chewy and potatoes tasted bad. the chicken souvlaki was not fully cooked just like the hamburger.And we never got any water or and service after the food came.Definitely overhyped.
Nice view. Nice staff. Our food was good but we didnt order anything tricky: Saganaki, Greek salad, keftedes, were all very good. The test would be chicken souvlaki or any other grilled meat.One big plus for us right now with a picky kid is that this is the only tavern in Kissamos that we found to have a childrens menu with fish fingers! A kids menu whit some drawing excercises too.
The greek cuisine was disappointing, bland and tasteless. We ordered several traditional greek meze and dishes, and nothing tasted authentic. The fakes was not salted, not spiced enough and hastely made. The moussaka was bland, unsalted and boring. We had to opt out of bread that was overpriced even though we didnt order it.
The staff is extremelly friendly and simpathic, they habe plenty option of seafood, but the high avaliation is for the service and lovely environment
So first of all, this is the first tavern from a group of restaurants in the area. They have someone who stops you and acts all friendly just to persuade you to take a seat at their table. For us we felt the service was not that good after we were seated. We were recommended the seafood soup and unfortunately everyone from our group (4 persons) that ‘ve ordered this said that it was tasteless. I had the seafood salad and I really enjoyed it. They gave us complimentary raki and a small dessert after we finished our dinner. For the same price, I think there are better restaurants in the area so I wouldn’t come back.
Delicious food, (the fish soup was perfect, rarely we can find tasty fish soup in a restaurant), friendly staff and nice atmosphere! For sure well see you again!

A great discovery that accompanied us during all the dinners we had at Kisamos.They have gluten-free options and are careful about contamination.My celiac children were crazy about the fried mixed squids and mussels, always freshly prepared with rice flour and new oil for frying.Great location and very careful service.
Fantastic restaurant with excellent service and attention to detail. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly. We recently went for a family Sunday lunch with my 5 month daughter and the team couldnt have been any more caring and attentive. The views of the sea are incredible and the food is delicious, obviously freshly made and with good quality ingredients.

Great breakfast with beautiful view on the seaside. Everyday different options with tasty fresh jogurt & juice. We also ate dinner at this Tavern and we definetly recommend seafood dishes.Very polite and nice waiters staff!
