Kind, straightforward mechanics. I took my car to their garage to get it checked before a long road trip. The mechanic let me know that they were busy, but they were able to fix my car the same day I brought it in! I appreciated that they also called me about what needed to be fixed on my car and that they answered all my questions. I liked supporting this small business and would recommend this garage to anyone else!

There is nothing better than finding a garage you can trust! These guys are kind and straightforward. They told me what was wrong with the vehicle, gave me my options along with price estimates, then fixed it and charged me exactly what they had quoted. They also kept in touch with me to keep me updated on the progress. Years after my old go-to garage closed down, Im relieved to finally have a new car-care place that Im 100% comfortable with. 5 stars!

These guys are amazing.We dropped off our son for his first day at Virginia Tech, and a brake line went on our vehicle late on a Friday. They were so willing to help after 10 other places turned us away, they took us in immediately for emergency repair, and they even stayed late to do it so we could get back on the road to get ourselves home. They were kind, start to finish, and even gave us a donut while we waited. Everyone we dealt with seem like good, honest people.I cannot say enough good things about the way we were treated, and the care they took to get us back on the road after a very tough, emotional day as parents a long way from home.

If you live in Blacksburg, there is absolutely no reason to not have your car looked at by anyone other than the Bug Shop. These guys are friendly, honest, professional, thorough, and pretty cheap. You may have to wait a bit to get an appointment but its worth it in the quality of repairs and fair prices you get Ive been to a few mechanics who are good around Blacksburg: Prices, Moores Body and Mechanical, some okay ones like: Firestone and North Main Auto, and also some not so good ones: The Mechanic in Christiansburg. But the Bug Shop is far and away the best. Do yourselves a favor, save your money and go to the Bug Shop.

After several failed attempts to fix my vehicle at Shelor Motor Mile Subaru I came to Bug Shop and I am so happy I did! They were able to quickly find the problem and fix it. TL, DR: If you have a Japanese car, keep away from them. They wont even go beyond what you tell them to find the issue, raising serious questions over their ethics and expertise.To my experience then, having read other reviews here, despite knowing they work on German cars mostly, took my Infiniti to them, which was having an overheating problem. I did my homework regarding the issue, having worked on other possible sources myself, suggested them possible areas of concern, in addition to providing the OEM thermostat, a commonly failing equipment causing heating in cars.Were they helpful? Not so much. They told me they changed out the thermostat without checking whether the thermostat even worked, charged $30 for a simple gasket ($3 at AutoZone), and immediately on the way home, I started facing the heating problem. They claimed they tested after replacing the thermostat, but didnt seem like they did any testing at all, especially when you consider they didnt even take the time to test the thermostat before putting it in. Also, they charged me a couple hundred dollars for just 1 hour of labor worth of work.I would recommend them if you like the feeling of being a head boy asking your fellow beings how to conduct and they do so without asking any question. Otherwise, just skip them and find yourself a better mechanic.Only positive point is they do have access to service manuals for all cars (get the pun).

Diagnosed my bugs mysterious issue (which 3 different shops in the area couldnt figure out) rapidly, fixed it quickly, came to less than $250 including labor for a fairly major and involved repair. Didnt add on unnecessary charges. I had to make an appointment about a week in advance because they were busy, but Id far rather they be honest about when exactly they had time to get to my vehicle rather than taking it and keeping it for days before getting to it. They also drove me back into town so I could get to class after I dropped my car off. Super nice, friendly, honest people who go above and beyond for their customers. I wont waste time going to any other car shop as long as I live here.

They even took my son back to his apartment after they got his vehicle. It is a great feeling when you find a shop you can trust and resolve issues. They kept me in the loop the whole time.

Had an issue that another shop was not able to diagnose or fix. My wife has been using The Bug Shop for awhile and told me to take it there. As much as I hate to admit she was right, she was right.They were professional and kept me updated as to what they were doing and what the different options were and what things were going to cost.They were able to fix the issue (along with several others I asked them to do) and because of their excellent communication, there were no surprises.Good prices, good service, good people.

Was buying an old car. Wanted a full checkup before buying. They provide a service called look over for purchase for 25-30$. Its worth it!They check everything. These are expert guys there for 34 years. Got job done in 30 minutes.Excellent service and value for money !!!Strongly recommend.

I went to fill up the power steering fluid for my Volkswagen, the guy named Jason was very helpful, he checked inside the hood of my car, topped the steering fluid and fixed my tire pressure, all for free. He was also extremely polite. I had a very good experience in Bug Shop!

I want to tell you about something utterly incredible that happened to me the other day. I called up the Bug Shop the other day asking if I could schedule an appointment for them to look at a check engine light that came on. They said sure but maybe it would be better if I just bring it by around 5 and they can scan the code and tell me what is wrong it its severe or not. So I did that. Jason got the codes and wrote them down and cleared them. It was simply a bad gas cap that I need to replace. He stayed a few minutes after they had closed took time to explain everything. Even asked my name, etc ,etc.Folks, for another corporate type place to do the same thing they would have charged you a few hundred plus found something new that was wrong with your car. You can trust the Bug Shop plus they do the little things right like Jason did to let me know what was wrong. That seemingly small act the did that cost me no money they will make back in hundreds and hundreds of dollars because of word of mouth. This is so huge! Some companies dont understand that. Customers are the best marketing through word of mouth. I tell anyone I know to use them. No amount of paid advertising could get them that same type of marketing. Outstanding job. Outstanding work and performances! I highly recommend this place of business for all your mechanical needs. I recently moved here from SD after driving a 2004 GMC Envoy with 255,000 on it,1200 miles. Had one issue when I arrived and upon a recommendation from grandson Randy Brown, I called for an appt. got me right in, fixed the problem and was extremely affordable. Been here six weeks knowing I had an exhaust leak in the manifold, made an appt again, got me in reasonable time. The vehicle was a Maine car and as you know RUST! Greg worked diligently and carefully removing bolts that were rusted. Amazingly none broke off and back together! Was very reasonably charged and treated by the staff (Jason) very respectfully. Again A-1 in my book of life, highly recommend the Bug Shop. Old and quaint, a true mechanic shop!

These guys are really popular around town to take VWs and all makes of vehicles. This popularity is sometimes seen in their backlog. I like to work on my own cars when possible, but when I get over my head (which is often) this is the only place Ill take my cars. Theyve always done great for me and I totally trust them not to overcharge and fix the problem right.

These guys are hands down the best mechanics in Virginia. Honest and not out to screw you, Ive been taking my BMWs here for 8 years and cant imagine taking them anywhere else

The Bug Shop staff is very helpful and they know what they are doing! You dont have to have a VW to go here- - I have a Kia Sedona minivan that they have worked on a few times-- the gas compartment door would not open so I could not fill up the gas tank, the van would not start on another occasion and some typical work was done like oil changes/inspections. They did great work and were friendly every time!

The mechanics here have always performed excellent work. Never have they tried to upsell me on some unnecessary repair. They fixed a problem caused by an oversight of my regular repair shop back home. I appreciate their integrity.
