As a wedding photographer, I recently photographed a groom wearing a tux from The Tux Shop on Woodward and he looked amazing. The silk lapel, the colored lining of the jacket, and the overall quality was visibly apparent. I will definitely be referring future couples to The Tux Shop when they ask for mens clothing suggestions for the big day!
Jeff at The Tux Shop demonstrates a level of customer service that exceeds any corporate tux shop I have been to for a wedding event. When I walked in on Friday around 3pm there were fifteen or so gentleman waiting for fittings and alterations and only 2 people including Jeff to help.Although it took a lot of time to be accommodated, I witnessed Jeff take a moment to say hello to every person who walked in, and even remember the names and obligations he had given to some from past visits. Many companies and their staff will give promises that are ill kept, but I can say that if Jeff tells you he will call you or have something ready by a time, it will be. His notepad of things to do sits calmly at the front of his mental priority list.He allowed me to show up an hour before the store opened on Saturday, and was able to make me feel the most fitted I ever have been in a rental tux. He is a personable gentleman and a professional at his craft. Well Done.My only recommendation is advice to the customer, if you have an obligation that is time critical, make sure you show up early in the morning or give some extra time. As is expected with the pandemic recovery, wedding season is in full swing.
My brother decided to use this place for his wedding, and unfortunately myself and all of the groomsmen were unable to make an appointment for measurements. Not alterations, not the fitting, just initial measurements. The wedding is now in 29 days, and no one has been measured. I have called and spoken with an associate twice, and I spoke with Jeff once.Though polite, he was not available for more than 2 minutes and asked me to email him, I left him my email and asked him to please email me to schedule a time to measure the bulk of the grooms wedding party. He said he would email me, no problem and that was two weeks ago. Ive now called three times with nothing moving forward.We have decided to switch to Mens Warehouse out of necessity.I recommend that they hire some seasonal help, or restrict the amount of clients to a manageable number. I can see there are many satisfied customers, and its unfortunate that we were unable to do business.
Wedding parties beware! The lack of communication at The Tux Shop on Woodward is unacceptable. I will only speak to my experience as a groomsmen (which was bad enough). I tried to call them to make an appointment multiple times and they never answered and their voicemail was full. Then tried to make an appointment online and could not find any appointments. Instead I went to a men’s store where they took my measurements and I sent the measurements to The Tux Shop. I emailed The Tux Shop so they could confirm they received them and I asked how much I needed to pay. That was June 15th. It is now July and I haven’t heard back. I was literally TRYING to pay them and they wouldn’t respond. I highly recommend looking elsewhere for tux rentals.
My fiance and I chose The Tux Shop for our upcoming wedding. He received a fitting, picked out the tuxes, and was given a window of time for the groomsmen to get fitted. After that, we could not get ahold of them. Online bookings were completely full, they would not answer our phone calls, and their voicemail box was full. I finally had to drive to the shop and cancel our order in person. I was met with numerous excuses and very few apologies. Do not use The Tux Shop if you value your time and sanity.

The store is nicely laid out and they have a wide variety of options available. My fiancée and I met with Ace and he did a great job of helping us pick a tux and accessories. He also measured me and laid out a timeline for my groomsmen. I was told that he would email me a quote and what the next steps were. I never received a quote and have emailed them twice with no response. I also called and left two voicemails that have gone unanswered. It’s been a month since my initial appointment and I’ve received absolutely no communication. My fiancées family has used the Tux shop for six weddings in the last 4 years and unfortunately that trend stops with us.
I cannot say enough about how much I loved working with this team. I had the hardest time trying to find a tux shop that would actually allow my fiancé to try on a tux (I didnt think it would be that complicated, but apparently it is!) Mens Warehouse, President Tuxedo, everywhere I called their policy was to buy the tux, it arrives three days before your event and you hope everything looks good/ fits. Not at all what I wanted. But when we went to see Ace at The Tux Shop on Woodward we were given the highest in customer service. Ace talked with us about our wedding, took measurements, discussed what we liked, colors, styles, venues, everything to determine the perfect look for our day. He personally took note and ordered all the pieces we were interested in and a couple weeks later we went back to try on the few looks we wanted. From there we were able to finalize both the grooms look and the groomsmens look. Ace was so knowledgeable about formal wear and formal events such as weddings and was able to help guide us through the process and give us great advise and recommendations so that the guys looked their absolute best. After struggling for months prior to find a decent tux shop I was so excited to find such an amazing vendor to help with our big day. If I could give them 6 stars I would. Absolutely- 100% would recommend for any wedding, prom or formal event.
Would recommend The Tux Shop to anyone looking for a rental tuxedo. Hired them to provide the tuxes for my groomsmen, they all looked great. Quick turnaround and very responsive service at a reasonable price. Employees are a joy to work with.
Phenomenal experience from start to finish. I had a very specific look in mind and they knocked it out of the park. After going to several other Tuxedo Stores and the suits looking cheap, it was breath of fresh air to find high quality tuxedos at a reasonable price. Ace and his team are second to none.

Excellent place with great collection. The ladies working there, the double breasted suit dude with the beard, and the owner Jeff - all our are very professional and you get ample attention when its your turn!At times there is a wait time but they call people in the order they check in on the sign in sheet so there is no way they are going to entertain you before your turn. Greeting incoming customers by the staff can be tough given how swamped they are some times, but given the sign in sheet, and the easily noticeable commotion due to so many customers, you should know that they are busy and youll be called when its your turn!
Couldn’t ask for better service. Jeff and Ace will go above and beyond to make sure you look good for the big day. Jeff opened his shop an hour early so my brother can pick up his suit after flying in the night before. Ace is is extremely efficient and very personable. Will definitely go back for future events.
I was in MI several weeks ago and found myself in need of a dark suit. I visited some of the chain shops and they were just okay - not exactly what I wanted. Then I called Jeff at The Tux Shop. He was absolutely fantastic. He had exactly what I needed and said he would have no problem helping meet my schedule. I met Ace when I came to the Shop for measurements. He was very professional and so helpful in every way.I was very pleased with the suit they provided me. I wanted something more subtle than just the black suit/white shirt. They had a charcoal suit for me that was perfect for the occasion. Even at the height of the Prom/Wedding season, they made time for my special needs and delivered on exactly what they promised.I wish I could give The Tux Shop 6 stars. Rented 4 tuxedos for myself and groomsmen for my wedding. We looked stunning. My tux was tailored to fit perfectly, which isnt easy to do. If ever I need a tux again, this is where I will go. Tell all of your friends! Ace is the man!!

Should not have to go back to a tux shop 3x. A number of the groomsmen and the father of the bride all reported issues with the sizing. My pants were so bad that I refused to take off my tux coat at all the whole night. Someone may ask did you tell the person that you met after the so-called sizing took place. The wedding was Saturday night and the resizing took place on Friday right before the rehearsal. What was she going to do. She even gave me a thumbs up. It was a joke. I see all of the positive reviews here and have to scratch my head why this was a mess all the way around except for the initial visit. Maybe it was because I was there with the groom.
This is the only place I go for suit rentals. Jeff is friendly and knowledgeable. I havent worked with anyone there who wasnt professional and easy to work with. The suits always fit well. I have to reason to use any other service!
Just a great experience. Jeff really cares about being the best and doing a great job for his customers. He got me into a great Tux on 2 days notice. When I returned it a few days later I was impressed that he remembered my name! If you need a tux this is the place to go. Highly recommended!
Tons of options for both buying and renting, including renting with the option to buy after. All of the associates seem very knowledgeable, and were willing to help us or leave us to our own as much as we wanted. We are very excited to continue the process with them!!

The best tux shop in the Birmingham area. I have gone here for two years and every time the service, price, fitting, and customer service has been excellent. Jeff is an outstanding guy who genuinely cares about his staff and customers. Everyone was very helpful and courteous and I was offered water and coffee while I waited. I didnt have to wait long and was helped immediately and every small part was taken into consideration by the staff. I could not recommend this place enough!

The Tux Shop doesnt just ask you what color your prom date is wearing and matches you to her. Their friendly staff gives you many options on what you could wear. Bow tie or neck tie, vest or cumber bun, and many jacket colors and styles. So you walk out with exact style you are looking for. The service is great and they get you in and out fast. I am definitely returning in the future if I need a tux for a special event.
Jeff was able to track down a vintage peak lapel off white dinner jacket, on very short notice. He went above and beyond when a lot of other places kind of laughed at what I was looking for. He stayed in contact with me via email and phone the whole time. He was fantastic, as was the the rest of the team. I would highly recommend The Tux Shop.

It was our first time using that store and it felt like they were overwhelmed today. I know of at least one customer that walked out, because he was expecting to pick up his tux today for a wedding and they left him hanging for other customers that came in. Our experience was just okay. The staff was nice though.

I knew I needed to find someone reliable and professional who could unquestionably get me looking right within a short window. Thank God for Claire from The Tux Shop.I was able to get a fitted tux, shoes and accessories within a three hour turnaround window, the same day. The staff were fitting two wedding, at the same time as me, with visible ease.Claire was knowledgeable about what options she had, how to best match my partners dress, and general questions I had as to what I should be wearing for my frame. Her wit was appreciated and much needed to defrizz any latent stress, and she had excellent control of the room and her other clients. Any fears I had as to whether Id be prepared for the event dissapated with Claires cool composure and confidence in her skills.I look forward to returning here soon.
I used the tux shop for my wedding and was extremely satisfied. They really did an amazing job! They accommodated all ten of my groomsmen and were able to size everyone including the out of towners. They made last minute adjustments even on the day of the wedding. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Jeff is one of those rare venders/salespeople that genuinely cares about customer satisfaction. His positive attitude makes it very clear that to him, the money he makes is secondary. He made my wife and I feel like we were his only customers, even when his shop was swarming with high school kids getting fitted for their proms. He was always willing to work with us on price and went to hell and back to fulfill any custom requests we had. It was an hour out of our way, but completely worth it for the savings and the service. Jokers said they had suits for men of all sizes. Suit didnt fit and the shoes were awful too. They sure didnt have a problem taking the money though.

I was referred to Jeff by a friend of mine that used him for his wedding. I went in with my wedding being 6 weeks out, Jeff was not there for my initial visit but Ace was, and he took our initial measurements for my self and my 8 yr old. He told me Jeff was out of town for a few days but would contact me as soon as he got back. Took a few days to get a call back but eventually I heard from him. The suit that I was shown durinng my initial visit was currently not available yet, but he told me he would do as much as he could to get it for me and a matching one for my son. Fast forward to the week of my wedding and I was in his store trying on the suit that I was told was unavailable along with my son. Jeff was great throughout the entire process and made sure that I was happy with the product. The fit was perfect for myself and my sons rental. We couldnt be happier with the service we received and Jeffs hospitable personality. I will be using him for every single piece of dress clothing that I need in the future.
My husband and I visited today. When we entered, the two salespeople were with other customers. We browsed, found a tux, and waited...and waited...sat down...and waited.After a half hour with no greeting or any other acknowledgement of our presence, a customer told the manager as he was leaving that there were more customers waiting. The manager said, Yes, thats good. He then started a new conversation as he leaned comfortably against the counter, still failing to acknowledge us. At that point, we walked out and were now heading to another shop.As we have done business here in the past, I was more than disappointed, and I will not be returning.**Response to Jeff: No one said one word to us.
