They service our fleet of trucks and we always recommend General Automotive when asked about a dependable and honest mechanic. They arent perfect, after all, which one of us is? but they will correct on the rare occasion something isnt quite right. We dont have extra vehicles so a quick turnaround is important to us and they have always worked with us to keep our small fleet on the road! Prices are fair and they dont upsell or give you something you dont need. The shop is always extremely busy, as you would expect from a good mechanic, but after 10 yrs of service from them, I know personally that the owner cares about each customer and the service they receive! He may appear aloof at times but that is because he is pulled in so many directions and his mind is on making sure everyone else is ok. (He really needs to make some time for himself, but thats just an aside from this review!) Though i dont wait around usually, they do have a very nice waiting room! 😉

I have been going there for 30 years. It has had several owners. Has never had a bad experience. They are honest, fair, friendly, and very good at what they do. I don’t have to worry about being taken advantage of because I am a woman. Comfortable waiting area. Yes they are very busy..why...because they are Great and Honest. Very friendly hard working staff that calls to keep you posted. Would recommend to anyone....When I go there they greet me with a smile and by my name. I really feel like there is no better car repair place around! Good people!

NEW UPDATE CHANGED MY REVIEW:6/7/2019 This shop damaged another part on my car while fixing what I originally bought my car in for. I only drove my car from the shop to about 3 blocks to my home. When I drove a longer distance, thats when I seen steam coming from under the hood. It was my Thermostat housing leaking very bad. Only when my car got warm enough that I was able to see this. Antifreeze comes right out as soon as I pour it in the car. Wayne solution was he acknowledged the issue, but if I purchase the part he will negotiate the labor. I think not!!!

Owner is friendly and helpful

I took my car to them and watched my car. They never look at it. They claim they knew what was wrong and charge a $50 check fee. But wanted me to bring the car back next week for repairs. Took my car to Cadillac. They fix the car and it was something totally different. NEVER USE THIS BUSINESS!!!

Being a business owner myself leaving nasty reviews and ugly comments about another persons business is not something that I like to do but General Motors are very slow & unprofessional. General Motors had my Dodge Durango now for 4 weeks and my car still hasnt been repaired so a gentleman called me today and told me to come pick up my car he no longer wants to do business with me because I came to the shop and demanded them to put a rush on my car I was not nasty nor rude but thats the report the shop owner told my husband when he called him today, who has money to pay week after week on a rental car then has to pay the mechanic $1,053.00 & the shop owner want reimbursement you, I called the shop every 4 days to get an update on the repairs and each time they will tell me it would be done tomorrow evening, it will be done Monday it will be done.... then on top of that when I came to the shop to get my car on Friday the car mechanic told me that another car mechanic went out of town and took my keys with him???so I wasnt able to get my car. I chose General Motors because I heard they get the job done but this was the worst experience I have had with a car mechanic and I will not be going there again and would not recommend anyone to go there

Very reliable ! I was having problem after problem with my Ford Taurus and kept taking it to another guy at Woodstock and was constantly having to get work done so i switched up and came to general automotives and the guy diagnosed my car one time and gave me a reasonable price fixed the problem one and i didnt have any more problems . i ended up coming back again because i was so satisfied with the job before and they fixed another problem i was having and worked with me on the price and ive been very pleased with work ! They even told me about potential problems i may have with my car so that i know what to be looking for if something else happens and to give me the heads up so that i can get the problem taken care of before it becomes a hassle. I was very satisfied with both visits and havent had to go back since ! Plus they get your vehicle in and out in a resonable time frame . very respectful people !

Worst experience ever, i wouldnt recommend them to my worst enemy,wait yes i would but anywho, i had a motor replaced in my truck from them for $2700. it was a waste of money and time when i pick up my truck no freon my air and working when i brough it to then my radio was also working fine when i brought it to them but when i left from down there it was round the time they was closing so i notice these things i called no aswer cause they were close i waited the next day and told them about my radio and air blowing hot the motor smoked a lot they tell me its just old oil burning off they tell itll go away in a couple days when i drive , wanst buying that at all i wanted a second opinion because hey it is $2700 i got invested so i took it to express they tell me bad heads and oil leaked around heads, and if express oil change fix it im going to be out of$4500 HELL NO so i took the invoice back to general automotive the guy tells me express oilchange dont know nothing its just a little leak it aint go hurt nothing tehy was just stalling passed the warranty date now thats not good because the motor i had to replace had head issues so i took it back to general automotive they tell me its passed the warranty date they cant do nothing about it now im stuck with a motor with bad heads and didnt last a year if you going to get your motor replace DONT GO TO GENERAL AUTOMOTIVE have it rebuild or get it new ,lesson learn for me dealing with shade tree mechanics

Worst company ever .dont go there.they had.my radio was taken,my battery was taken,my car was there for 3 months, and all that was wrong was the starter was loose and needed new screws.with a bill that says $15 for parts but a charge of $265.00 for labor.they put a old battery in the car that was too small that they jerry river with screws to make it fit.the battery caught fire .my father in law said a wire from the battery they left touching the starter..AVOID THIS SHOP AT ALL COST.
