Five Stars what else! I contacted 5 Star about a right rear tire in my vehicle that had a slight air leak. They said stopover and we can check out the leak and we are open to 6PM on Tuesday so no hurry. I had contacted a couple other local tire shops about my tire issue and no one could see me until late Wednesday. I had to inflate the tire to 32PSI again before I left the house. I arrived at 5 Star in perhaps 15 minutes and I advised the Counter Salesman of the my vehicles tire issue. The Salesman had a Tire Tech take my vehicle and within 20 minutes it was determined I had run over drywall screwThe Tech was patching the small hole and inflating the tire and the vehicle was ready to go in less than a hour total. I was presented a invoice for the service and the invoice had a 10 percent discount. I was a first time customer at 5 Star, but I am sure I will be back the next time I need to service on my vehicle.Thank you muchBob

This place got me in right away. Even in the midst of a snowstorm! 😬 this is my 3rd time going there and they are always very friendly, fast, honest and will make you laugh. Best tires ever too! And while waiting you can browse through all the info they have about your vehicle and what to do in certain circumstances. You can buy sarris candy bars. You can sponsor a dog. I Have had taken 3 cars here for either a tire patch or replacement the prices are always fair and service fairly quick. They never upsell or pressure for additional services and explain what they did to the vehicle and why. Honesty and fair pricing all you can ask for when you get a car serviced.

I have an out of state vehicle. So far I have purchased 3 sets of tires here. Today I stopped in due to a rubbing sound on one of my wheels. The problem was found and it was fixed with a screw driver, removing some rust from the front rotor backing plate. The name of this place is absolutely says it all. You get what you pay for. This place did have the best price, but be prepared for the tradeoffs.1) They do not take any appointments for tires. First come, first serve basis. Be prepared to call ahead of time to get an estimate of waiting time before they can get to you. They are usually busy, and may be why they do it this way, because there will always be work to do. But as a customer, it leads to excessive waiting, because your wait varies depending on how many others are in front of you. If appointments were done (like any other place) then you are slotted into a particular time window, which would be more efficient for the customer.2) New tires were way over inflated, and torqued down too tight. My car calls for 33 psi in the front, 32 psi in the rear. You can easily check this by opening the driver door, and look at the ratings on the door jamb. My new tires were inflated to 41 psi on both left side tires, and 35 psi on both right side tires. Never had that before, even at chain places! Also, I had to take my tires off to have them road force balanced at another shop (more on that in point #3) and I had to step on a 2 foot breaker bar to break the lug nuts loose. WAY over torqued.3) Had vibrations at highway speeds due to poor balancing. Unfortunately, I am all too familiar with this dreaded highway speed vibration when my wifes car had new tires put on at Bruce Brothers. I suspect this is just due from most places using regular balancing (where the tire spins freely in the air) and is simply good enough for most folks. Road force balancing has proven to be superior (at least in my case) - BUT most places do not have this type of machine due to the upfront cost. Going forward, I will now only be going to shops that have this road force balancing machine offered. I am sure that Fire Star Tire would try to get this corrected, but now you are back to point #1 I made above.4) One of the tires I received was defective, with a bulge in the sidewall. They did a good job here in that I was able to show someone in the shop the issue, and they ordered a new tire and had it replaced later in the day without issue or grief. I was happy in how this situation was handled.Overall, if you want the lowest prices, this place is likely your best bet, but you definitely get what you pay for with that low price. Topic #1 is understandable, especially if you have a flexible work schedule or are retired perhaps, but the issues I pointed out in topic #2 are just poor work quality items, which I definitely would not expect from an experienced and established tire shop.

Only been there twice, but my experiences have been great.First time, I just needed a headlight for my wifes mini-van. I called one place (a *National* chain that specializes in *Tire and Battery* work, but lets not name names) that quoted me $75. 5 Star did it for under $25.Second time (the day I wrote this review, actually) was after I took my car to the dealership, who told me I needed new tires, brake pads and rotors on all 4 wheels (AWD car). They quoted the work to be around $1500. The quote from 5 Star was around $1000, so I was starting by saving money already. When they looked at it, they said I needed the tires, but only needed pads on the front and no rotors at all. Ended up only needing to spend around $600, AND they gave me a mail-in rebate for the tires. Work quality has been great, too, each time Ive been there, as well as friendly service.Forget any other places, Ill be taking my car here from now on.

Ive been coming to this garage for 24 years the dedicated people here take good care of your car. There fast and efficient sometimes having a couple guys work on a car to get it in and out of the shop quickly. The family-run business cares about you and your car.

I moved into the area and heard great things about this place. So went there myself... had great service AND the folks are honest, imagine! I taught quite a few of he mechanics so their math skills are solid, lol!

Will never go back. A loyal customer for 15 years but now i had 3 bad experiences in a year. First was they would not honor the tire warranty because Terry was not there. Went to Mathews in elizabeth who not only honored it but also registered the new tires and gave me the paperwork so any dealer would be able to do the same. Never got that from 5 star. Next was new tires on my truck, I wanted them rim sealed, they refused saying it wasn’t needed. 1 tire leaked within a month, the other 3 within 3 months. They charged me $80 to do what I asked them to do when they put them on. Now, my other car got a flat last week and the spare was flat due to not having the rim sealed. I never had a problem with Terry but have not seen him in a while. My guess is he is letting the others play a bigger part and they are finding new ways to squeeze customers for extra money. Im done with them

I have been going to 5 Star Tire since I started driving thats about 24 years now holy **** Im getting old. Anyways back to the topic its not a fancy place no wifi or cappuccino machines but trust me these people know what they are doing. Its a family run business with a group of trusted employees. Hell you will even see Terry or his son Todd all greasy and dirty just like the guys working on the vehicles. They sell cooper tires thats all I run on my vehicles the old and the new Im almost positive they can get just about any other brand if you would like. The front end guy aka (alignment technician) for you people that are not a gearhead like myself 30 plus years getting dirty for fun..... yup Im old. Sorry back to topic John is probably one of the best front end guys around no bs with him if it needs a part only whats needed gets changed. Overall you cant go wrong with them they stand by the products they sell and services they preform. But dont be a JAGOFF if you have a problem go back and TALK TO THEM LIKE AN ADULT NOT A SPOILED BRAT chances are you dont have any experience working on vehicles but they do and if you ask them to explain or show you they will now you can say you learned something new today. 👍

Addendum - 09/2016Recently had tire damage to my Continental tires mounted on aftermarket rims purchased from Five Star. Went to back for service - which they responded quickly. However, they damaged two of the rims while mounting or dismounting the two replacment tires. I noticed finish damage immediately after my wife brought the car home and contacted them. Took it back two days later for them to evaluate. Terry agreed that someone careless in the shop did not properly handle my rims and that Five Star would send the two dmaged rims to a local body shop to be painted . . . I asked about color matching - will they match the other two? Didnt get a reasuring response. In fact, theyve never responded to arrange repairs. Disappointing. I ended up getting all four wheels powder coated at my own expense. I would give Five Star Tires NO stars if Google would award less than one. . .Original post - Ive bought tires and wheels, had vehicles inspected, and aligned. Ive ALWAYS received the best price and the service is done properly. Ive never had to go back for a do-over for something. And Ive never had them try to up-sell something that I didnt need! Good people. Good prices. Great service. Very, very satisfied repeat customer.
