Excellent guitar shop! The guitar tech is absolutely the best!!

I was told that my repair would take four weeks by a person who doesn’t like me, just so I would take my business elsewhere. You’re a piece of trash Ferngully and your music is so pathetic!

Best shop for guitars, amps, repairs, lessons. Period. Dana, Mark (best luthier I’ve ever met), my teacher Erik - these guys are decades-deep with experience, skill, and passion. This is the only shop serious guitarists use in this part of the world.

Great place, people are very knowledgeable, kind to work with been taking lessons for 5 years am in my 70s very patient in my learning, do it on zoom the best for me now but some students are face to face. I highly recommend it for all levels of students.

My favorite Metro Detroit music store. The staff and teachers are all pros and they have a great selection of gear and top notch repairs. This is the place all the players go.

They have great gear, great teachers and a fantastic luthier who has worked on every guitar I’ve ever owned. One time I took a classical guitar to be repaired somewhere else on recommendation, this was folly, never again will I not take my guitars, including classical guitars to Mark when they need professional help. Don’t be foolish person and go to GC. Please go and support this awesome unicorn of a business, especially now because they are one of the last of a dying breed and I don’t want to live in a world where there is only GC, do you?

Mark and Dana are great! Ive been a loyal customer for years. I had a rattling issue with a brand-new Les Paul that I had purchased elsewhere, I stopped by and Mark was able to isolate and correct the problem in no time like the true professional that he is. Thank you BMC.

I called regarding a guitar for my 10 year old and I was so impressed on how much info I received over the phone and the friendliness was top notch! We then went to the store and received the best customer service! We don’t know much about guitars and he was so patient and showed us the best guitar for a beginner and explained the cords, tuning etc. Even received a complementary lesson WOW! So happy we decided to purchase from Berkley Music! Can’t wait for my daughter to start her lessons!

Fantastic music store! Great selection of new and vintage musical instruments and amps, with hip and educated sales staff who happened to be incredibly friendly and funny. Beware the ventriloquist dummies lurking about the store. I swear to God their eyes are following me.

A lot of interesting guitars. The clerk was ok, but if you want to sell more guitars, hire someone who at least acts interested in what the potential customers has to say. Does he not realize that he is very easy to read? I mean nice when attentive. But he is not interested after a couple of minutes, its very easy to see that he seems bothered, at he basically ignored me. As I sat there checking out a couple guitars. His buddy came in and he was more interested in yapping with him, he gave me short answers to my questions., and seemed more interested in yapping a bunch of gibberish than seeing me as a potential buyer. I just simply walked out. I was very polite, but he was to busy again yapping at his no sale buddy, to even notice left.. I felt like he thought and judged me as just someone who was not a buyer. I own over 20 guitars, I am a buyer. And I give you 3 stars because of the interesting used guitars.. if it was account on him it would be maybe a 1 star. Hire a new clerk. Better yet hire a salesman. Im in sales, and Ive taken sales courses.. he doesnt know a thing about sales. Peace out

This is the musicians music store. You can meet serious guitar players, take lessons from pros and buy new or used instruments at very fair prices. Their repair services are top notch.

I got some grippy picks and strings, was offered a special price on a songbook, and had Dana, the owner, take me through a selection of reasonably priced acoustic guitars. What a resource!

Martin referred me to Berkley for binding repair and when I reached out to them Dana assured me the repair would be undetectable. I was a little skeptical but the luthier Mark made the repair and its like new. Those guys rock!

Every time Ive been there, whether to buy a guitar or a single pick, theyve treated me very well. They also have a very good guitar tech on site.You cant sit in this store all day and bang on $3000.00 Martins (like you can at Guitar Center) but its a nice neighborhood guitar store. Their prices and selection are good, but their service is excellent.

Awesome guitar store with great repair services. Small but lots of great instruments and gear there. They were able to dial in the frets and string heights on the electric guitar my Dad made for my son so it was useable.

Best independent small guitar shop in the area! Great selection of both affordable and more expensive guitars and amps. Customer service is fantastic, and guitar tech/luthier Mark Balash has worked wonders in maintaining and repairing all of my instruments for many years.

Dana and the guys are awesome to deal with. Very cool shop with cool gear and a staff that actually is knowledgeable- something you don’t get at a big box type store.

I am writing this review. Partially in a response to a yelp review I just read that was pretty misleading.I am just starting out as a guitar player, after a long break. I decided to travel to all the guitar stores in the metro Detroit area. The moment I walked in, there was a warm leather smell. It had nice lighting, and for its diminished size, a good selection ranging from beginner guitars, to high end. The amp room was small, but did have good amps, at reasonable resale prices. Heres why I will be going back. The used items were all at used item prices. They were not 90% of original cost, closer to 50-70% of original cost. The pedal selection used and new, was impressive. The salesman, which I wouldnt consider a sales man, more like, a friendly guy that wants to have an informed talk with you. He gave honest opinions on things I was asking, that had nothing to do with making a sale. Unlike the big store we all try and avoid, he explained the differences in things, and also suggested that I do what I like, not based on price, or name. But what works for me.I made no purchase at this time and didnt feel pressured or rushed to do so. However, I do know this. The next time I do make a purchase, big or small. I will be traveling past 3 guitar stores between Clinton Township where I live, to get to Berkley Music Company to make that purchase.
