These folks are great. Always willing to chat about the various hardwoods and cut longer boards to a length that’ll actually fit in my car. Great selection of some exotic hardwoods to boot!

The entrance and parking to this place is in the back alley-like street it shares with Urban Ore, through two garage door entrances.They have two main rooms of wood, one of hardwood boards and one just of veneered plywood. You are free to look though and pick out exactly what you want, board by board. They are not at all pushy, you get lots of hobbiest folks through here.Once you have the desired boards, ask them to write up the boards. Theyll make a slip, which you take inside to pay, leave the wood while you pay. Come back out and take your wood!Love this place. Good prices and nice people.

I borrowed a buddies van, drove from San Rafael, just to go-to this place....I love this place!The staff are knowledgeable and welcoming. The wood has descriptions that include prices (awesome), and the description includes a small map of where the wood is originally from.This place also carries Baltic Birch plywood (13 plys).My first time at the shop was great and I look forward to more trips!

Looking for long pieces of wood to build a tabletop and macbeath made me feel very welcome. I love being able to sift through inventory and pick out what I need. I was able to find a few 9 ft long maple planks and matching legs. Come ready to do some lifting. Parking is a free for all but when youre ready to load your car they let u drive it into the warehouse.As a beginner a few things to know about this location specifically. They cant rip boards on site meaning if you want to change a 10inch wide board into 8 inches they have to send it out to their HQ which will take a week. Their boards were misc widths, I found 8 9 and 10 inch boards up to 12 ft long. They can (cross) cut them to 9 ft long for you but I had to buy the extra 2-3 ft amounts and it is a rough cut not a perfect 90 degree cut

Very helpful staff. Great selection.For those new: You choose your boards then have the yard workers write up a slip for you, which you bring up front to pay. Then go collect your boards with receipt in hand.

What makes a supplier like this stand out are selection and staff. Both are phenomenal at MacBeath! As a newbie to the location, this place outshines others.Parking is at a premium if you go at peak hours, but the products and service make up for it (this means you, Adonis!). After spending almost 2 hours adjusting my table construction plan with cohorts on the phone, they helped me find exactly what I needed and get basic cuts before I hauled it away. And I saw so many types of wood (at reasonable prices according to several calls I made) that I am now inspired to find new projects to do.So, make a plan for your project, go see what they have to offer, and get their advice. You wont regret the trip!

Awesome selection of beautiful wood!

Great selection of exotics and plywood, nice staff, and is the only vendor in Berkeley that sells 1 thick MDF sheet goods. Unfortunately, they dont offer cutting services on MDF, and I cant fit a 8x4 in my car so I had to pass. Perhaps other US locations are different.

Great place. Many wood options. Need to pay additional 50% on top of the board foot price if you need to cut from a longer board.

Parking is out back, place was nice. I went looking for 30x30 sheets so they fit in my car and they saved me a few $ by selling me full sheets and cutting them in half for me. Hours are difficult since I dont work in the area but it was worth the early morning detour.
