Wandering down San Pablo discovered this coffee house with the best cappuccino ever. There is plenty of room and plenty of airy space, including a back garden, back room with huge open windows, front windows open. Everything one could want to be caffeinated, read a book, look at art and avoid the Delta variant. Recommend!

The staff is very nice and the setting of the coffee shop is really well done and welcoming. The mocha I got unfortunately was not as tasty as I was hoping. It lacked sweetness and felt too watery. Might give it another shot on of these days since the atmosphere was great!

Felt discriminated and won’t be coming back. Out of nowhere they asked for “vaccination cards” when I searched an clearly in Berkeley places don’t require it. There wasn’t even anyone inside and they asked us to go to the patio instead of not vaccinated. How ridiculous is this? Also, we said for here, they didn’t give us “here” but only to go. Very bad business. They didn’t even have a sign outside the door about it.

Full disclosure: I have a little trick for trying drinks at a new shop. Order the espresso but also a latte or chai. If the espresso is not so great straight, I can still toss it into the larger format and not be @wastingcoffeeThen I come to a place like Rasa and, especially since everything is in paper these days, prepare myself for a lackluster espresso experience.I was so unprepared for how freaking great that spro was. Fruity, balanced, phenomenal finish and just enough body to coat the palate.Add to that the house made, unsweetened chai was hot in all the right ways, and I wasnt even disappointed I couldnt make it dirty 🤣

The coffee was good. The chocolate croissant was bomb. It was pretty pricey though.

Wow!... had a bad experience this morning... ordered a masala chai with a shot... thought Id be in an out in 10mins max!... nope!... when my chai finally does come, its cold! (which I didnt order)... now its been 15mins... I had to go... chai-less!... and $6.25+tip-less!... it sucked!... wont be back to this location...

Really delicious coffee.. They roast their own and know how to brew the perfect cup with a siphon machine. It doesnt brew the coffee too hot, like many other coffee shops. The siphon extracts all the flavor with no bitterness. Best coffee in Berkeley.

When your coffee is served in Heath Ceramics you know you’ve got a winner. It is beautiful when two great artisans are perfectly matched.

Smooth and delightful coffee at Highwire. Purchased latte with almond milk. Milk was steamed well and without the airy foam often found in Starbucks/Peets. Proper barista made coffee! Firebrand pastries - quality baked goods. Service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended! Come support local business.

I was surprised by this place. I ordered a latte and the size was quite big. Definitely well prepared!!! Now is in my favorites.

The coffee here is good. I personally didn’t find it amazing, but that’s a matter of taste. Food here is a bit pricey. With the indoor area is closed, sometimes there’s a long line in the morning, so be prepared to wait.When the indoor area was open, I found the decor pretentious hipster. The patio and seating area is pretty spacious. They usually played rock music at a moderate volume, which struck me as odd. One time I was watching a video and laughing with a friend, and we were told to quiet down and that we must wear headphones. It had only been a few minutes and there was literally rock music playing over our head. That could have been a rare occurrence but was my experience and influenced my perception.

Its a beautiful cafe with plenty of seating options. The large selection of whole bean coffee is a plus. My coffee was good & the baristas are friendly.

I love this place a lot! One of my favorite coffee shops in Berkeley. The coffee is perfect the space is comfortable and quiet. Great place to read or work. The outdoor seating is lovely. I only wish their hours were better. Closing at 3:00 everyday is a bummer and usually find myself wanting to stop by in the evening only to remember they are early closers.

If youre looking for a true pick me up, down to earth Cafe with 4 oz of I dont know where they get these coffee beans but it works! This is the place for you. Excellent coffee, I recommend go slowly at first you might need to just stay at that rate. LOL

LEGIT 5 star worthy!I can be a bit critical about coffee shops.If its more expensive, I want Great coffee and I want friendly informative service.I dont pay for ambiance, image, or gimmicks.These folks have a seriously high standard for coffee, are happy to answer questions, and they seem real down to earth. None of that stuck up yuppie-barista vibe.

Good selection of Teas for the non-coffee drinkers, but as I arrived the staff didnt tell me it was 10 mins to closing, so I couldnt sit in and relax and drink my tea. The staff also didnt seem interested in customers at that point either. Might try again when I revisit, but I hope the staff are a little more friendly.

I feel that this is a untouched gym in Berkeley California. For the clean and beautiful restrooms alone you should check out this place. The coffee is special because it is percolated in the visual fancy coffee machine. Also the man who does the lunch menu is quite amusing as he creates delicious delicacies.

Ample seating (including an outdoor patio in the back), a decent amount of natural lighting, and a nice selection of drinks and salads/sandwiches. Doesnt seem to be too busy most of the time, but not too many outlets and no wifi if youre looking to get some work done here. The coffee, of course, is pretty good as well.

Best light to medium roast Ive come across in Bay Area. Downside is its a bit pricey but Im addicted.

Great individually brewed, not-over-roasted, not-overheated, coffee drinks. Simple and delicious. The food also looks awesome though we were just there for coffee. The space is large and comfortable and well done. In fact everything here is well done!

Great espresso drinks. Great simple breakfasts: poached eggs & toast or yogurt and granola. For lunch: Acme bread sandwiches, beer, and a limited selection of good pastries. A nice place to sit and meet with another, or by yourself. Note: The kitchen closes at 3, and this is an order at the counter sort of place. To address some of the other reviews: while I think that the service is generally nice, I have seen a bit of tude towards other customers who were taking a long time to order, unfamiliar with espresso drinks, talking on their cell phone, &c., nothing too unpleasant though.

Best cafe I have ever visited. The coffees are so good you wont want to sully them with milk or sugar. The smartest baristas measure, weigh, grind, and drip brew each cup to perfection (with a stainless steel filter so theres no paper filter waste). The cafe itself is beautiful and clean. And theres bicycle parking in the back patio! Id live there if I could

Love this place (amazing coffee and great food) and especially love that there’s no WiFi or outlets... gives the place a greater sense of community and encourages personal interaction. If you want to study or work, there are plenty of other cafes in town for you to set up your office.

I live in Atlanta and have then ship beans to me all the way out here. Have yet to find a roaster that provides this level of quality. I get the beans a day or two after they’re roasted!

I travel the country always hoping to find the best coffee and this place is right up there. I was originally going to go to the place around the corner but they dont open until 9am. Im so glad a came here. And they have both vegan and dairy free muffins.

The best drip/pour over coffee Ive had probably in all the bay. The shop itself is very cosy with great rotating art. A nice outdoor patio for when its hotter out too. Also they stock third culture bakery and mochi muffins!

YAY: a truly delicious mocha on soy! was going to do a single origin taster but cool morning flipped me into comfort mode. only mocha drinkers will understand the critical importance of balance: the coffee, the chocolate must both be good and equally voiced, and the question of sweetness arises. most chocolate powders or syrups are 75-90 percent sugar, rendering the resulting mocha puke-worthy, destroying both elements. Highwires version totally avoids this pitfall, and is spot-on: thank you!!

Good coffee and a good selection of teas. This was the first time I had heard of a green chai tea latte (the Kashmiri one), and it was pretty good - much more mild. Typical expensive bay area prices - $3.50 for an 8 oz tea latte. Street parking was decently available Saturday morning. Line out the door but it goes fast. Really nice outdoor patio in the back, and food options are available.

I drink espresso and the stuff served here was top notch. Espresso seems to be finicky stuff, but the quality here ranged from good to sublime. Notice the past tense. Unfortunately, since local 123 was purchased by Highwire they have brought in Highwire beans (prior to that they used four barrel and locals own product). The Highwire beans are a much darker roast, which yield a rather common, one-dimensional espresso. I used to go out of may way to go to local 123. The kind of espresso they have now is only okay. I miss the complexity, acidity, fruitiness, strong coffee flavor, and lack of dominating burnt bitter taste of the old shots. Time to find a new place. Sad. Why cant they keep a lighter roast along with the Highwire beans?

Ive been here three times, and have never been disappointed. Their Masala Chai is killer, and their tea selection and lattes are solid. Spacious, and light-filled , with clean bathrooms and a lovely patio!!

I stop in here once in a blue moon since I grew up around the corner, but on a rainy Saturday to get a microwaved chocolate croissant and a macchiato in a paper cup. I gotta say Im disappointed.

I dont drink coffee so I cant comment on that. Their fresh squeezed orange juice is excellent if a bit overpriced but I didnt mind because I was planning on spending a few hours there and thus the $3 felt like a fair price to pay for 2 hours. What I loved was the amount of seating--so much! Although it does get full so dont be shy about sitting next a stranger.The decor inside is appealing and streamlined and the patio is adorable. Not only that but this is definitely more of a get business done cafe than a social hour cafe which I appreciate. Just being around other productive people in a beautiful environment helps jump start my productivity. I will be coming back here.(Note: bring cash if you dont plan on ordering much more than a cup of coffee, they dont take cards if the total is under a certain amount.)

Its good for working with laptop. But I prefer the Solano st Highwire for atmosphere and outside sitting.

I used to love getting coffee here so much, but the Sunday crew changed a while back and I can’t get them to make me a drinkable latte to save my life tastebuds or feelings D: Too hot, milk poorly steamed too much foam bitter dead shots— just awful. The last time I went it was so bad and they steamed it so hot that I finally gave in and asked them to remake it - not so hot (that was the least of the things wrong with it, but the nicest thing I could call out to have them try again) it was easily 180 degrees (yes I’m a coffee snob yes I used to be on the other side of one of those counters for over 8 years I hate myself too) the remake was juust as bad. I gotta call it. Sorry, highwire marketplace, we’re done. $50 in a few weekends which I’ve quietly spent walking out and throwing my coffee away at a discrete distance is enough.

Cool atmosphere. Staff are friendly by Bay Area barista standards. But the start is the nitro coffee! Theirs is called Howling Wolf and is by far the best I have found. Anywhere.

As a local, I like to support several of the coffee shops in this neighborhood. But I have to say, the service is shocking, not just bad. I know they are busy, but customer service is the only reason I would go out of my way to support this business. After 10 visits, Im out, good luck.

Great people (staff and customers), hours are nice on the weekend if you are up early on sat or sun. Quality of the espresso is pretty consistent unless you get someone really new. I really wish they would have stuck with 4 Barrel and not switched over to their own brand.

This place is a great local roster. Their coffee is always freshly roast which makes for both great coffee at the café, and a great place to buy beans for your own coffee machine.

Three stars is not exactly what Im meaning to give but I did want to give a heads up that there is no Wi-Fi there. I had read some other reviews that there was and I went there for the Wi-Fi and they didnt have any there. So just be aware of that. Otherwise their quiche and their coffee is excellent!

I had a cappuccino that was excellent and a panini that was very tasty. There was plenty of seating inside plus a patio out back.

I found the staff to be nice. The coffee I ordered was not so good. I also ordered two meat quiches. They handed them to me cold? They forgot about the quiches. I had to ask about it. Ya just because you pay a lot for your service. Doesnt mean its good. This place is over rated for sure. I threw away my coffee. It tasted so bad. Couldnt even have my breakfast quiche until later that day. I dont eat it cold.

Had an excellent Ethiopian pour over and a terrific Kouign amman from Starter bakery. Staff were attentive and friendly. As is the scene these days with free coffee shop WiFi, nearly every table seat was taken so we had to sit at the bar. Is this sustainable for non-regular customer traffic??

Food: OMG. The best effin biscuits ever -- get them with the herb butter. You will want more. The house salad with chopped hard boiled egg (custom) is delicious as well. I tried to give them more than one chance but when they forgot to include a lunch item I had ordered to go and which I had waited 15 min for, I was pretty furious after I got back to my desk and made that discovery. I called to complain and the manager was apologetic but didnt offer anything for my bad experience.
