For the second time that I have used Caliber (once in San Jose and once in Berkeley), the quality control has been lacking. My repair was incomplete when I came to pick up my vehicle. A technician was able to finish off the job in 30 minutes or so, but I expected it to be done right the first time around.

It took 3 weeks longer to repair the fairly limited damage than usual - and this is StateFarm authorized repair shop which was recommended by the insurance company whom company pays significantly more than usual. While communication was good, after 2 subsequent delays it became apparent that one cannot expect timely repairs. After all was completed, the tires on the vehicle were under inflated resulting in replacement of 2 tires( can’t replace one); battery needed a charge - after sitting disconnected for over a month; and the check engine light came on requiring me to seek further repairs. I expect any shop to take greater care of the customer and pay attention to the details prior to releasing the vehicle which has to be safe to drive. I called the shop, but beside “we apologize for your experience” I’ve heard nothing else. I would not recommend this shop.

I needed body work done on my car after an accident. I was thoroughly impressed from drop-off to pick-up with their service. Everyone was very professional, courteous, clear and supportive. I had a special circumstance and they accommodated me with ease. Their estimates and addendums were thorough and clear. And, my car looked like new when I picked it up. I absolutely recommend Caliber Collision.

I had a minor scratch on my antenna because I had slowly exited a garage with an overhead door which scraped at contact. Thought I would have to have painting because the picture I took had a reflection which could have been a paint scratch.Drove it in, some guy in passing saw me waiting in the parking space designated for estimates. I explained what I was there for and he climbed up my tire to see it.“No problem, he said. I’ll get someone to come and rub it off for you.”Sure enough, by the time the estimator came out, they both chatted, the other guy came over with a ladder and his magic and took care of it in five minutes, at no cost!!What service! They made my day/week! I thought I’d have to pay out of pocket to repair a cosmetic problem and they made it literally go away!I’ve been there several times in the past for serious auto body repair and always got top notch service. This adds to their stellar reputation for superb customer service.

Terrible customer service. I came here last Friday trying to get a repair estimate and was told there no one available bc they were preparing to close. Mind you, this was an hour and a half before closing their scheduled time. Fair enough, i told myself i would come back, but found it odd the lady didnt try to schedule a time for me to come in the following week, I didnt pay it much attention.I came back today (Monday) and waited in the the office for 20 mins and no one offered to help or check what i needed assistance with. They tended to another lady that was there before me and once done with her, it was like i was invisible. There were two employees at the desk who continued to stare at their computer screen. One even got up, walked to the back room and back to her desk, ignoring me, or pretending to not see me standing literally in the middle of the office . I respectfully left the building as it was clear they did not want my business and drove to another shop. Never coming back.

This is the 3rd time Ive used Caliber Collision in the last year. First they helped me paint the outside of my new car after someone scratched it up. Then they installed a new Catalytic Converter and an anti theft device. And this week, when part of my trunk fell off and my car battery died, I was so happy to be able to tow my car to them. It is hard to find people you can trust to take care of your car. But I now have 3 positive experiences with Caliber. I have had nothing but good experiences with Andrea and the rest of the team. Love this place!! I live around the corner and my car battery died. I know nothing about cars and was so stressed about it. I called Caliber Collision and Aaron told me they dont do battery replacements specifically but offered to come down and jump it for me and let me know if I needed to get the battery replaced. Aaron and Jerry came by 10 minutes after I called, jumped the car in 20 seconds and told me everything I needed to know. They were so helpful and kind. Also they were very considerate of social distancing and were wearing masks. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for help! Thanks Aaron and Jerry!

I had taken my car first to an autobody place by my home, where the manager was a) not wearing a mask as he stood close to me (and nor were any of the mechanics) and b) mansplaining condescendingly to me why my simple side-swipe repair could take 10 days and cost way more than my insurance had estimated. I decided to go somewhere else. At Caliber, Andrea and the team were so professional, communicated everything, and got the car fixed in five days — over Thanksgiving! The work looks great and they came in around the estimate. I am so glad I bailed on the first place and came here! Highly recommend this shop particularly to women.

If I could give them no stars I would. Aaron Conley is a manager there and laughed in my face when I asked for my refund. When I picked up my car, they did my repairs. I went on my lunch as I had an appointment after work. I made it clear I could not be late to return for work, as they had already made me late for work during my drop off, even though I was there at 8:12 AM and my work is down the street. I still did not get to work until after 9:35 AM. Anyway, when I picked up my car, I was asked if I could give them a good review, which I didnt mind. However, when I get inside my car is when I become so disappointed and I will NEVER come back to this place. The reviews are misleading. The outside of my car was not cleaned nor was it waxed and I alwayssssssssss have a spotless car when I go through my insurance and pick up my car. That did not happen but they somehow still feel its okay for them to take my money even though they did not do what they were supposed to do. The inside of my car was a freaking mess. Excuse my language. I do not have kids so why did my car look like someone was throwing dust in my back seat? I will ENSURE that state Farm takes them out of their network because to even have them apart of the network is laughable at BEST. They do not deliver service like caliber Collision or Alameda Collision repair. Two places I have been when my car has been hit, and they rendered AMAZINGGGGGGGG service. If I would have known that my car would look like this, I would have skipped out on convenience and went to Alameda to get the repair done. Because I work in Berkeley, I figured I would try Cooks and its no way they could render horrible service because they are in State Fars network. I WAS WRONG! Do not come here! I got a call later on yesterday and Karen even admitted that they have had multiple complaints like this before. people have complained that the inside of their car was not clean or looked a mess upon it being returned back to them. Are you kidding me? Why are you even open and in business if you dont have the tools needed to render a great job and service to PAYING CUSTOMERS?!?!?!?! I am not happy at all and I expect my car to look spotless on Tuesday and I am still going to ensure they are kicked out of State Farms network. The fact that I even have to deal with this after hauling out $1,170.00 that Aaron Conley said I wont be getting back, AFTER being hit is ridiculous. I appreciate Karen for calling me after receiving photos from Alan, to try and rectify the situation. I still expect it to be rectified but now I am spending more money and gas to get this done when it should have already been done after having my car for over a week. Not to mention I picked up my car on Thursday and they are telling me they cant repair what they messed up until Tuesday! So now Im expected to sit in a nasty car over the weekend? Am I an animal? Ugh! Disgusted isnt even the WORD! Here are just some pictures! I have videos and a bunch more I plan on sending over to State Farm and I will also be posting this review on Yelp as well as contacting Matt Wood about the behavior of Aaron Conley and the shops overall service. This is unacceptable and after they fix what they mess up I will NEVER come here again. I will NEVER recommend someone to come here and will refer them to Alameda instead. Do not waste your money or your time. Please save yourself the headache. Im only giving them 1 star on here because it wont allow me to give them any stars. Just horrible.

Nobody likes getting their ride wrecked, and nobody likes dealing with the insurance claims, and then comes along the dreaded body shop! It’s been a while, but I found myself returning to what is now Caliber Collison with the hope that not much has changed since it was Cooks. And I’m pleased to say that besides the ownership change from Cooks to Caliber, they most certainly did not change their efficient procedures and high-quality work, matter of fact I think they improved!Last time I was here I had five claims in little over a month; three claims at once that brought my ride back to me in near showroom condition, and then two days outta the shop we get rear-ended, then a few days after that our front-end gets ripped off by a parking lot tire berm. Yes, the whole front-end came off in one piece when an engine splash shield came loose & got caught on the berm while backing up!So now, when some dingbat creases my rear bumper and onto the tire & rim as she tried to maneuver into a parking space, it was without hesitation that I brought my 2016 Chrysler 300C back to Caliber (Cooks). Thankfully, my wife had the presence of mind to refuse dingbat’s $500 cash offer, knowing that anything with a bumper on our ride is gonna be at least $1K; it came out to $3K+. And while we were at it, I reported claims for the windshield rock dings, and claims for all the other parking lot body scuffs, scrapes, and dings that your car gets when knuckleheads can’t judge distance while parking.Anyway, after Sandra did a review of the claims and damage with me when we dropped off my ride, we headed out in our rental car hoping that the work wasn’t gonna take the quoted 14 days. Over the next few days Sandra sent me email progress updates, and true to their past, my ride was ready, washed & shining as if brand new within a week, and it only took these body shop artisans that long only cuz the rear wheel needed calibration by a tire shop. So, once again, I’m driving away in what looks like a new car, and my only hurt was the deductible ding to my credit card. Will I be back? Damn right I will!

My experience here was super smooth and easy. I HATE dealing with the entire process that comes with getting into a car accident, from insurance, to rental cars, to body shops. Caliber, however exceeded my expectations. My main point of contact was an employee named Franklin. Making an appointment to drop the car off was a breeze and he didnt bat an eye when I forgot to give him the estimate that I received from a different shop (even though he asked me very nicely twice lol). He was very reassuring and had the dont worry, Ill take care of everything attitude.Considering the times we are in right now, everything was basically contactless and easy. Paperwork was emailed to me to sign, they sanitized my door and keys before returning my car, and being the introvert that I am, I didnt even need to talk anyone all that long lol. Service was pretty exceptional. Maybe I havent had much experience with a lot of body shops (fortunately right?), but they took care of a lot of stuff for me without much hassle on my end. Car came back sparkling clean, damage was fixed like it never happened and in short time too, AND the most exciting part: I didnt need to return my rental car because they did it for me!!!Ive since recommended this place to a few of my family members and highly recommend others to come here if needed!

Cooks Collision (now Caliber Collision) did a great job on my car. Melvin worked with me and he was great. He called me all the time with updates and was very conscientious and friendly. When I went to pick up my car he realized that I was accidentally overcharged about $10, and because the shop had just closed, he offered to run to the mini-mart and get change from his own money to pay me the $10, which he did. When he came back he continued to clean and polish the outside of my car, while I was still transferring things from the rental car back to my car. I told him its rare to get service after the sale like that! Melvin was Awesome. I was very happy with their service all around, and excellent work they did on my car.

My car was stolen on Dec 31st, 2015. It was recovered same day and for some reason I had it towed to the local Chevy dealer. Big mistake, 3 months later I got my car back. It still needed the bumpers repaired since the dealer would not do that so I asked my agent (State Farm, love those guys) for a recommend. Best idea Ive had in a while because they recommended Cooks. Well I was a little shell shocked due to the previous horrible shop time at the dealer. I was pleasantly surprised with Cooks, very professional, did what they said they would, when they said they would and the price was slightly lower, not higher. Cooks rocks, that is all I can say. I will always bring my cars to them for any body work I need, ever. Cant go wrong.

My 2011 Mercedes E350 with 26,000 miles got damaged by a car wash. My insurance company sent me to Cooks collision on Claremont in Berkeley, initially I had gotten an estimate from Crocketts premier auto body for approximately $5,700 but was instructed by my insurance that I should take it to Cooks for faster service and guaranteed work with a lifetime warranty. I delivered my car one month ago, about 2 weeks in I was badgered to pick up my vehicle even though it was missing some trim pieces that were on back order; I was told that they were only aesthetic. The entirety of the damage which was the whole reason for bringing the car in to the shop was only aesthetic so I wondered how they cloud possibly think I wouldnt mind! It was clear that they wanted to get my car out of the way. I was firm that I would not pick up the vehicle until the work was complete because I could not take the time off work to return and have them install the trim pieces. A week later I was told that the car was ready so I took time off work and had my father take time out of his day to drive me down there to pick it up. I arrived to a broken trim panel sticking up on the passenger side of my windshield, a corner of my bumper that was loose and floppy, they hadnt replaced my rear window which they were supposed to do and there were clear coat scratches on my trunk lid. They assured me that they would correct the issues and I left. A week later, after getting my deductible and being issued another almost $8000 by my insurance they said that the car was ready and they offered to deliver it because I couldnt take the time off work to pick it up. My car is a disaster, they replaced the rear window with aftermarket glass not the Mercedes glass I was promised, the veins for the defroster are brown not the original black and it sticks out like a sore thumb, electric rear window shade does not go up because the Chinese replacement glass fits poorly, the rear defroster does not function as well as it did and there are broken plastic pieces of something probably expensive on my rear speakers. I could tell everywhere where they had painted, at night, with only the light from my garage. I delivered the car to them immaculately clean; it was returned filthy with white dust all over the interior. And dirt all over the exterior. They waxed the car and left wet wax and swirls all over. Furthermore the gps tracker in the car says it exceeded 100mph on the way to be delivered which is confirmed by the fact I have almost 1/4 missing of the fresh tank of fuel that I topped off at the Coast fuel station on the opposite corner. Bottom line is that I have been without my car for a month, I have had my time wasted already and have to go back down there taking more time off work to address these issues, the quality control is a disaster. This has been a nightmare and it isnt over.

Review №61

I wish I could leave a better review but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Repairs on my vehicle took almost three months to complete and I understand when parts are back ordered or unavailable but the lack of clear communication or adherence to timelines is really something that needs to be looked at. It’s one staff member dropping the ball after the other. I dropped off my car in November for the first time and it was kept for about 4 days, and then I received a call I should pick it up because of the back ordered part which they said should take a week or so, then fifteen days, then a month etc etc. I called many times in between and was continuously given the run around. As I was about to leave on vacation (the day I was leaving) I received a phone call that the part was ready but they did not have space for my car that day or for a few days and so I had to arrange for my vehicle to be dropped off. At drop off we were told it would take over a month to complete repairs which was fine because I would be out of the country on e week short of that. While I was on vacation I started receiving calls that the payment for the repairs was coming to me directly and could I get someone to drop it off. I explained I was out of the country and no one had access to my mail box. This would’ve been a good opportunity for them to call State Farm and have them reissue the checks or figure something out if the money was urgent in that second. Nothing was done, no phone call to State Farm. Nothing. Then we received an email that my car could be dropped off if I would pay in full the amount of the original estimate, my deductible and the jacked up supplement of another $1600 to them. There was no one to receive the vehicle or available to drop off that amount. I told them I’d be home in 10 days and received no other calls or emails until the day I was on my flight home from Andrea Bourgeois asking when I would pick up my vehicle although I had clearly stated in my email that I would pick up my car upon my return, that I did not have remote access to my mail. Upon my return I learned that the check had been mailed to my Los Angeles address. I informed Cooks Abra of this and I told them I could pay the one check that had been cashed and my deductible but could not pay for the check that had not been received. They said I should call and have it reissued and that they had tried and no one had called them back. I was then told that my vehicle would be held until all was paid in full. It is illegal to hold property this way!! There is no working lien on the vehicle and the monetary transaction beyond the deductible is between Cooks Abra and the insurance company. My car was held hostage until they started making the phone calls after my instruction to get this resolved. Mind you I’m still in the rental vehicle with my rental allowance amount well expired, at this point I was already paying for the rental out of pocket. When I went in I was met by Andrea who apologized they way you apologize three hundred times a day to people, that this is routinely happening to. I feel sorry for them because they had to hear my complaints and it’s not just one of their faults, it’s clearly person after person making mistakes in a high volume environment. There’s just too many cars coming through here, too many persons to deal with and although they work nicely on the cars, there is much to be desired in follow up, communication and customer service. When you go here please be well aware that they only care about their money and fixing the car and could care less about stressing out the customer or demanding their money.

They were very busy when my tow truck dropped me off, but still made intake a breeze- quick but attentive and good explanations of what they knew and what they expected would need to happen. The motorized part of the mirror didnt work half of the time and needed to be replaced. after getting the estimate for the insurance they were supposed to replace the whole side mirror for $288 which insurance was supposed to pay. I had to pay about $30 dollars out of pocket for a gas eating SUV,one day insurance and the TAX besides leaving my car there for 9 Hours, for my side mirror to get replaced. Came back to the malfunctioning old mirror instead of the a brand-new one, just a new cover that could be installed by anyone in less than 2 minutes rather than 9 hours. I could have done that myself and not waste my money and valuable time for that repair and unprofessional diagnosis.
