This is my go-to spot for carnivorous needs! They have all kinds of meats in a large amazing display case. I get my steaks, sausage, and thick-cut bacon here all the time now. They also have some interesting wines and sauces.My favorite things here are actually the beef bones I pick up for my dog. They will cut large bones into smaller pieces to order. Massive glass display with a large variety of cuts of meats including hard to find cuts and meats. Locally owned. Affordable prices. Spotlessly clean. Rewards program and rotating specials. Knowledgeable staff. Easy parking and great location.I drove up to an employee helping an elderly lady load her groceries into her car. He then helped me find a cut of meat that I couldnt find in stock at 3 grocery store chains. The entire store smelled deliciously of the in-house smoking that was going on. He told me about their smoking process and gave me two large samples of the best candied bacon Ive ever had and a piece of pepperoni. I look forward to being a return customer after receiving such great customer service from a local business.

Used to be a good location, and has pretty good meats selection especially for beef cuts. If youre looking for specific cuts they will cut it for you or you have to order ahead like for goat meat.Love the location and hours, easy to find and polite staff. Im very happy to support local businesses that actually do a good job. Their smoked candied bacon is delicious!I would have gladly given them 4 stars, but just cannot. Their stock is inconsistent, the smoker machines are either old or dont operate well as they are frequently broken.My biggest frustration is their communication issues. The rarely if ever answer the phone which is constantly busy. Ive had to drive 25 mins each way multiple times recently because no one bothers answering the phone for inquiries.Im not wasting any more time or gas traveling to this place only to be told that theyre out of something or their machine is broken or come back another day. Really poor customer service experience, cant wait for a better eastside butcher shop to open!

I have shopped at the Golden Steer in Bellevue since 1975. These folks are the real deal. The meat is always top quality and the smoked meats (jerky, pepperoni, and bacon) are the BEST.

Found this place 2 months ago. They are hands down the best place to get quality cuts. The new york steaks are quite possibly the best Ive had locally. They come off the grill like a hundred dollar steak. The staff is always helpful and kind=)Definitely my new go to place!

The Golden Steer is amazing! It has knowledgeable and welcoming staff who are some of the nicest people on the planet. The food selection is fantastic and I have not seen better quality anywhere. Our son was singing a Beatles song and the next thing I know the owner is teaching him how to make sausages, really neat moment.

We were blown away by how friendly they were and how mouth watering delicious every cut of meat in their shop looked. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are very reasonable. I’m definitely going to buy all my meat from then now on

I would love to do business with this butcher shop. But its impossible. Website is horrible. Cant order from website... And not even an email address. I dont want to call. I dont have the time. If I dont write it down you wont get the order correct. Not even an email. So a phone call... Cant hear me. Cant understand me. As Im deaf. Do you really expect me to do all this during Covid? Lets make it impossible to place an order. Do you expect everyone to provide a credit card number over the phone? Seriously... Its fine your website suks. But you should at least have an email address for contact.

Never buy goat meat, they sell lamb with tag of goat. Very disappointed :(

I started going here not knowing much about meat but over the years they have been super friendly and taught be a lot. Their meat is fabulous and it feels like Im seeing friends when I walk in. My favorites are the beef maui strips and the boneless ribeyes.

Walked in today, looked behind the counter and saw 2 employees NOT wearing masks walking around. We are in a global pandemic- this is totally irresponsible. They also have a “masks required” sign on the front door.

I love the choices that they have. Although whole slabs of beef ribs seems to be hard to come by unless theyre frozen. Even so, the meat is fresh and taste so much better than what you get at the main grocery stores. Im so glad I found this place. This will be my main place for my meat.

The staff was wonderful. Unfortunately, the meat not so much. Both the prime rib and the corned beef we bought were both VERY tough and the corned beef was SO salty.Traeger cooked the rib and slow cooked the corned beef.Pretty disappointed in the quality of meat.

A good start of a relationship!I called in looking for various meat related to making my own dog food, with the proportions being 80% muscle meat, 10-25% organ/secreting organs/sweetmeats, and 10% ground bone. My breeder gave me a recipe for dog food and various reasons why to continue to feed my dog this raw diet he has been on his whole life. Shes a breeder of 25+ years and all of her healthy beautiful Shibas are on this diet.After asking if they had various products available, the friendly guy on the phone recognized that I was looking for raw dog food ingredients, and said that he also makes his own!He offered to sell me some dog food, but did mention that he did not grind bones into the food; this meant that I still need to find a source for that, or dive in and buy my own grinder (or like the friendly man said, give the dog some marrow or supplement).Overall, had a great first conversation with the friendly guy on the phone, and hope to try his raw dog food soon!Side note: Boy, I hope they make a side business, because there doesnt seem to be many businesses around here selling fresh complete meat bundles (Ive only found online retailers for this). Would love to support a local business for both the humans and pups in my home, and definitely going to these folks for my next meat order. The prices he gave for raw food are reasonable, so I would love to give this mix a try with my hungry pup.

Today is my birthday, and I needed a steak for dinner. Going into the Golden Steer I announced my intention. I was here to buy a beautiful steak for dinner.They had 2 steaks , if I guessed the weight of either of one I would get it for free. The guess had to be Pound .00 to get it for free. The first steak I was over by .13. John, “the Boss” was guiding me to the correct weight.😃 . The 2nd steak 1.36 actually my guess 1.38. John graced me with a free steak for my birthday.Everyone at Golden Steer sang to me happy birthday and sent me off with a wonderful birthday dinner.I have a great life!Thank you John and the team at Golden Steer for making my birthday a wonderful day.🥳

The jalapeno and bacon, pork sausage is amazing but its made to order. Ive only seen it once out in the deli case but ordering is super simple and they need less than a week to gather the ingredients, prepare them and mix up the best breakfast sausage Ive ever had.

They did an excellent job with making summer sausage and pepperoni sticks out of some wild meat for me. Also had them cut and rap steaks and roasts. Was also impressed with how they kept everything in individual packages - everything was very professionally done.

Best, highest quality butcher ever. You have to try their home made pepperoni and jerky. Cuts are good prices and amazing meat. Also for you dog people, they have beef bones theyll cut to any size for you.

My girlfriend took me here last weekend, she has been shopping here for years. A great selection of different meats and cuts. Great sausages and finished items such as stuffed pork chops. While the meat is fresh and of high quality it is not all that pricey. A friendly atmosphere with a lot of help and advice.Forget the grocery stores, this is the place to go for the right piece of meat. Small, local meat markets are almost a thing of the past, but its great to shop in locally owned businesses that offer great service and prices.

I agree with all of the positive comments. GS is a great butcher shop. I was introduced to this shop by a neighbor of mine about 16 years ago. The selection and variety is great, as well as the special order capability for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.When I initially shopped at GS, I too realized their prices were a bit more than the grocery store and I asked the owner about this difference. He indicated to me the difference is in the inventory carrying cost they incur.Simply put, John and his wife, store their beef in cold storage for 30 days which allows the beef to age age, which in turn, provides better flavor. If you have no interest in the flavor of aged beef then any local grocery store should be able to service your needs.However, if you are interested in some of the best, dry aged beef on the East Side, drop in and ask John or one of his employees for a nice, thick, Porterhouse steak and see what all the accolades are about.Additionally, you can get specialty items such as beef bones for stock, beef bones to roast for marrow, whole hog legs or even whole hogs.Nice work, John. I hope to patronize your establishment for the next 16 years, as well.

If youre looking for better than supermarket meats this place is for you! In addition to their fantastic pre-cut meat in the case theyll cut a custom piece for you with a friendly smile. Our 5 pound rib roast for New Years was the best weve had.

The staffs here are so kind and friendly. They keep the place clean. The only place that sells fresh goat meat. They do have lot of sauces and meat rubs.

This is one of the true institutions of the Crossroads area. Its a real honest to goodness full service butcher. If all youve ever experienced is the butcher at your local grocery store, you should really stop in and check it out. For one, its one of the only places in the area where you can get Carna Asada, and they will get you whatever size piece you want and trim it down to perfection. Want super flavorful ground beef with really high fat content? Ask them and theyll pick out the meat and grind it fresh right in front of you. Want special treats for your dogs? Ask for dog bones cut in half. Your pups will stay occupied for a looooooong time getting every little scrap of meat and ounce of marrow off of them. And do yourself a favor... whether you like meatloaf or not... try theirs. Dont put anything on top of it when you bake it, just follow the directions and eat. You wont believe how much flavor they manage to pack into those meatloaves. If I ever hear this place is going to close, Ill order 100 meatloaves and buy a freezer to store them.

Weve been returning to Golden Steer for over 15 years - first we purchased beef marrow bones for our various dogs and then we began purchasing human stuff! Terrific meats and wonderful people providing down home, old time friendly service like youd envision in small town America.

Brought in a deer and an elk to be butchered. They did not label any of the packaged cuts so we were unable to decipher the elk from the deer. When we called and asked they said they usually dont get more than one animal to butcher and that they should have labeled it. They offered no discount or credit just said well thats unfortunate. Will not be going back to this butcher.
