Like others have said, great atmosphere, location and food is decent. They had a promo on at the beginning of summer for their soft serve ice cream, kids under 12 free. Recently we dropped in and I thought it would be nice to get the kids one last ice cream before summer was over. I asked three times, clearly, if the promo was still on and kids under 12 were free. To be fair, the staff working the cash did not speak English as a first language. Yet they confirmed yes, it was free. Then went to pay for all of us over 12 and was charged for everyone. I reminded said staff that I had asked clearly 3 times to make sure it was understood what I was asking. Oh that was only at the beginning of the summer. Right. To be honest the soft serve is not worth it if its not free anyway. If you want decent well priced ice cream head to Chicken Little. I still do like visiting here for the atmosphere and view and the garden centre in the summer, but the grocery is expensive and I will probably only go for a coffee at best.

Beautiful Location to eat and dine out. Lot of fresh food and local ingredients available, excellent parking facility with limit of 2 hours per vehicle. Irving gas station is just 10 meters from farmers market. Transit bus no 8 and 90 connects to downtown Halifax in 20 minutes. Adjacent railway track and mind-blowing view of Bedford basin from the market.

Just awesome, a great collection of European 🇪🇺 products especially from Greece 🇬🇷. Fresh produce and variety of food items. Staff is very friendly and cooperative, especially Dimitri went out of the way to help us. beautiful, clean and well organized place with a cafe and foos choices. absolutely loved it.

Went for brunch. Awkward experience as you order and pay for brunch at one counter while you are required to go to another counter to order and pay for your coffee. Brunch is served on porcelain plate while you help yourself to a plastic cutlery and condiments that everyone is touching to access their own cutlery. The cost did not reflect the fact that you are serving yourself and clearing your own table, however the food was excellent. I did not see any attempt while we were there for the staff to wipe any tables between customers. Only gave 2 stars because the food and the view were excellent, otherwise this is a 1 star.

The desserts offered in the café are either a joke or a fraud!The tiramisu tastes nothing like tiramisu and actually you cant identify the ingredients, the white part tastes like cold water with sugar and corn starch, the brownies apparently was made at least a week beforeThey offer food with Starbucks prices and neither the taste or ingredients match the priceCoffee was not bad but overall wouldnt go there again or recommend it

Always like shopping here. Excellent place to buy spices/herbs/oil. Great selection. My new, favorite find are the Gem Gem ginger candies that they sell. If you like ginger youll love these candies.

Excellent selection of meats, produce, European goods and spice. A great place to stop if you are looking for just a few things or groceries for the week.

The sandwich was a tiny, underwhelming and dry disappointment. The Americano although not dry , was just as disappointing. Now, if the coffee and sandwich was priced cheaply, then i would have no beef. But for the prices they charge for counter service its not good. I will give it another try as anyone can have an off day.

Great place to come for coffee and treats. The market sells fresh produce, along with spices etc. It’s convenient to stop in here for produce and other essentials, I have found the prices slightly higher than other nearby grocery stores.The coffee, sweets and soup are excellent.There is seating inside, along with a ground level seating outside and a second floor patio, overlooking the Bedford basin. Very nice in the summer.Overall this place has a relaxing atmosphere.

This is such a cute shop and restaurant. I love sitting upstairs with a freshly brewed coffee overlooking the water :)

They have been improving the variety of ethnic products and even local options. I started buying apples here. Their pies are delicious and there are some really good pasta and spice delicacies. Its still a bit on the premium side of price but quality pays itself off. Dont forget the cafe and one of the best brunches I know.

Lovely space to meet for coffee. Nice selection of coffees and treats. Looks like there is also a good selection of lunch food too. The upstairs seating area is bright and has lovely water view. And there is a small deck for sitting as well. Plenty of parking but the lot was almost full. A bit tricky getting back out onto the Bedford Highway and vehicles go fast along that stretch.

Great locally owned market. Terrific variety...clean. Staff are most helpful. Great place to have a coffee or lunch with a friend. This market specializes in hard to find ingredients and imports the Greek oranges 🍊 that once you taste you will never want any others. One of my favorite places.

Over the last 2 years this market has quickly become my go-to between meat or veggie pickups at the seaport. The flattened chickens are amazing, they have a great deal on flats of eggs and I will never buy pressed yogurt anywhere else. Super nice people, always willing to explain items you might not be familiar with. Also, the olives!

1st time in there I spotted a beautiful REAL expresso machine! so pleased to have this in my neighborhood😀 great staff. a treat to see they also provide outdoor seating with a harbour view.real croissants, all types of fresh local veggies & fruit… ask for a coffee card ;)be careful pulling out onto hwy ;)

Good breakfast but could use better customer service

We live in the neighbourhood and have been regular customers since the market opened. We’ve always enjoyed having coffee and the occasional bite in the bright, spacious cafe. However our last 3 visits, over a 3 week period, the coffee has been terrible. Once or twice is forgivable but 3 times straight is too much. There are lots of places to go to meet meet friends for coffee, and we don’t mind paying a little extra for a nice place and a good cup of coffee but when it’s consistently undrinkable we have to go elsewhere.

Great products but not very friendly service at cash. If you ask her anything she seems irritated. The owners are amazing and helpful, though, and this is always a classy place to go regardless of how busy it can get.

The place had fine things to buy. I went there yesterday at 6pm just to check it out for the first time and then bought few veggies then waited for the cashier and a man in his 60s showed up, I payed by cash then when he did not give me the right change, I politely told him I gave him 20$, when he thought it was 10$ then he went all crazy and just threw the correct change on my groceries instead of handing over it to me. There was no respect whatsoever and it made me feel bad for being polite with this nasty person. I hope someone hear me out and watch-out for some unpleasant customer service or my sincere request to the cashier, sir please fix your attitude.

This market has so much going for it..Great meats and decadent bakery products.Nice atmosphere and an outdoor seating area with a spectacular view of the basin and a relaxing spot to watch the sailboats go by.The only downside is the service..The servers are not pleasant and on occasion are also very abrupt..which is so unfortunate..

Absolutely no effort to put tables 6 feet apart, chairs back-to-back everywhere. Plus, staff are very unfriendly!

Went to the Sunday brunch buffet and the food was good but the service was not. Friendly service and eye contact goes a long way. Also server was on their phone while she waited for us to pay our bill.

Let me give you the details of my review. We arrived for the brunch buffet today, November 3rd at 11am; the time I booked my reservation for, we were a table of 7, 6 adults and 1 child. It was a celebration brunch for my dad, uncle and cousins birthday. When we arrived at 11am, I told the front desk lady that I had a reservation, she said sit wherever.. I was a little taken back, but whatever. Then came the food... I was told when I made the reservation, prices were $19.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids, which was fine! I was also told that there was a variety of foods, from scrambled eggs, omelettes, French toast, roast beef... etc etc, it sounded FABULOUS. The reality of it was completely different. We sat down to a table laid with a wrinkly white table cloth, no cutlery, no napkins, no glasses. We decided to go ahead and get food as a lineup was building... note: it was 11am, the buffet also opened at 11am (so I was told)... when I arrived at the “egg station” there was a silver buffet tray filled with... labelled scrambled eggs and veggie omelette (both written on pieces of construction paper), one side of the tray was filled with 1/3 of a tray of flavourless, cartoned scrambles eggs and the other side, known as “veggie omelette” was 1/3 filled with carton scrambled eggs with a few diced tomatoes tossed in and some shredded cheese, again, 1/3 of the tray full... down the buffet line, there was a buffet silver tray filled 1/2 with roast beef... not carved to order or anything, but just sliced, tough beef soaked in brown gravy.. the ratio was 2/3 gravy to 1/3 roast beef... it was such a disappointment. We had to grab our own cutlery at the end of the buffet line, and serviettes. The serviettes were in a basket that was all disorganized and some of the serviettes were stained and looked previously used. The service was terrible, waiters and waitresses would come over and say, “you done with that?”... so rude and blunt. By the time we went back for a second round, the trays were practically empty, with no intent to refill any of the trays. Overall, it was not a good experience, and 40 minutes later, we left with an uneasy feeling in our stomach, wondering what we just ate and experienced. We did not expect much from a $19.95 brunch buffet, but the buffet was shoddy and not done properly and was filled with cut corners. We will not be returning, not due to expectations not meeting reality, but rather due to shoddiness and bad service. Stick to the cafe downstairs... don’t waste your time with this terrible buffet!

I bought a few peanuts and nuts from the bulk section where the glass jars held different nuts. Everything tasted stale and old.

Wow, very nice venue. While attending a wedding on the second floor. We had an opportunity to indulge in the basin view cafes dessert bar. Well we walked away with one of almost everything. The chocolate mousse cake was great. Chocolate cheesecake was over the moon.

I love the place, the energy, the staff, the owners, the ocean view, the available parking, and best of all, the amazing ice cream ;)

Love going to this market! Very good baked goods. Best oranges around. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Only thing they dont have are waffle cones for their ice cream.

The diagonal parking is a bit of a pain. Nice layout, great variety of local products, but a bit overpriced. There were some items brought from US, that I could have picked up at Sobeys for less...The cafe is great, and the desserts are quite large at fair prices. The seating area is lovely. The gardens are nice if you’re into plants & flowers. Customer service a bit ho hum at both places though.

Great place! The veggies and fruit are top notch. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere and vibe is great. Lots of fresh meat, sausage, and meals and cookies. You can grab a coffee and a table or get it to go.Parking can be a challenge and getting back onto the Bedford highway a nightmare. But worth it! In the summer the garden center plants are more pricey but healthy and offer a few different varieties.

A lovely location inside, nicely set up to meet with a few friends, grab a coffee and a snack and sit upstairs! The view of the bridge is lovely and on a hot day you can sit outside on the bay side. The only issue I have is getting in and out of this location as the Bedford Highway is usually very busy, turning left out of the market is awful. Other than that this is the place to go for a yummy homemade snack and pick a few groceries up on the way out!

Used to love shopping here, but recently the quality has seen a huge decline and prices have gotten very high.

Elegant and regal interior. Food and drinks are usually really good. The beef pie is really strange. First it tastes like chicken. It turns out to be the last slice of chicken pie from the day before. Then the second beef pie they give me tastes like ham. However, the server insists that this time it really is beef. Somehow the column of beef pie on display also magically disappears when I go back for the exchange. Really surreal and peculiar experience.

Absolutely love Bedford Farmers Market and The Basin Cafe. Delicious coffee, great lunches, brunches and baked goods. Lots of parking ...but best of all they stock many spices and pantry items I like to have for home!

When it freshly opened the review would have been a 4 or a 5, however the last few visits we have been disappointed. Corn was so dry it could only be used for Thanksgiving decorations, fruits we looked at were starting to rot and covered in fruit flies.Baked goods and bread still great and fresh.

Love this place. Try the Greek oranges. Yum! Or fresh local produce. Or have a Latte and sit on the upper floor gazing out at the ships in Bedford Basin or the harbour bridges. Very well done!

This is a lovely place in a really nice location, especially on a sunny day. The cafe overlooks the basin with a great view from the balcony, though its intense if its bright out. Good coffee and the cappucino not too frothy. The market itself seems like a good place to get your groceries.

Delicious French toast daily after 9am.Basin Cafe still has enough parking spaces early morning.Took about ten minutes to arrive but definitely worth the wait.

Beautiful view, a good assortment of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Sorry I grabbed a roast beef sandwich, it was pretty lackluster with absolutely no flavour. You would think with a bounty of veggies at your disposal you could incorporate into making an outstanding sandwich with a little pizazz.

They have an amazing view and a very comfortable space. Their coffee is awesome and the pastry here is unbelievable. We often go to this butcher when were going to BBQ. Hes passionate about his work. They have amazing homemade bread and good prices on produce.

My go-to location for fruit and veg. It feels good to support the area farmers, and my wallet appreciates the value I get here. Theyve expanded within the last year or so to include baked products, a meat counter, local craft items, and a small deli. Its wonderful to see it growing, and as long as Im in the area I intend to continue going.

We go there quite a bit. Love the food and the ambience. Today not so much the soup was tomato noodle. Noodles so over done that it didn’t even resemble soup. More like a bowl of over cooked pasta in tomato sauce and at the price i was disappointed In all it is a nice and relaxing spot
