Had new sliding windows put in throughout our home. The photos below show puddling water inside the house when it rains. Universal said this is normal which doesnt sound right to me. What will happed in the winter when the water freezes????I asked the installer to keep the old bathroom window (was like new) so I could install it as a replacement for my garage window. They forgot and disposed of it. I called the installer and he came and measured it to see if he had a size I could use. Never heard back from him. I called Universal and they said your out of luck, you are going to have to buy your own window. DO NOT USE UNIVERSAL WINDOWS.

We met with Cody Hinkle for our free estimate on new siding and a new sliding glass door. He was professional and very knowledgeable of the products. I feel as if we got a great deal for top of the line service and products. He made us feel comfortable with our decision and also educated us on everything we needed to know, including the financial aspect. I would definitely recommend universal windows direct and Cody to anyone looking for home improvement projects!!

Well let me just say this, from start to finish everything was done professionally and with good quality. From the beginning with Matt, he was professional and did not pressure us at all. He was very informative and knowledgeable. Then with the installers, both Aaron and Dan were awesome. They answered any questions that we had and were very professional. They did an awesome job cleaning up and installing our new windows. We are only waiting on our storm door to come in and our bedroom window, but other than that it has been a great experience with Universal.

Windows all have sharp edges and poor quality. They were a half hour late on the two hour window and didn’t bring anything they needed. We had to wait around for three hours for them to bring everything back. Guys wore shoes and tracked stuff in house. No one cleaned up after. We have chunks of broken windows left in our home and wood left outside. The windows are low quality. One sticks other one lock mechanism is messed up. And they had to make them fit because they were not measured right. We had to have some wood replaced in one window and they took a board cut it a few times and tucked it in the window and said that’s best they could do. When we bought the windows we were told it would be rebuilt correctly. I feel like we were lied to several times and now we are stuck with windows that are trash.

One of my products (sliding glass door) with an over 3k price tag arrived with a chip in the glass. I notified the sales person and have received no communication on a resolution. The communication during this process was poor, the installers left a mess. These doors were ordered and paid for in March and only just installed end of June. Doors were not cleaned after installed, a bunch of stickers left on door with sticky residue I had to scrub off. Spent hours cleaning after they left. Had to scrape foam insulation off my dining room wall left by the installer, which subsequently peeled off the paint. All 3 doors had black scuff marks on the glass and paint.The above not to mention the install isnt even done weeks later, after the initial install. Exterior trim on both entry doors is missing. Interior trim is too short and needs to be replaced. Cost of this job was much too high for service to be this poor. Ive received 3 emails, text messages asking me to leave a review on my experience and refer you more business but no follow up on the above issues or offer to make it right. I would not recommend your business to anyone and I certainly wont be purchasing again for future projects.UPDATE to review: Its now end of August and still ZERO communication on when this door install will be completed. I was told the trim and replacement product to finish my install would be in during August. We are now 6 MONTHS out from the original purchase with no resolution or any offer to make things right. I urge you to think twice before giving this company your business as they do not care about your experience or the quality of their work once the job is paid for. Even their response to this review is a canned copy and paste response from their marketing/sales dept. When you email their customer service, no one gets back to you.

We used this company for replacement windows in the whole house. It was discovered on day of install there is a missing window that has still not been found. Installers left box of trash on our deck and broken knife-like shards of materials on the inside floor and outside of the house we had to clean up. More than 20 screws collected from mulch bed and driveway so they dont end up in our tires. Spent hours cleaning black tar-like substance from panes and framing, some of which is between the two layers so can be seen but cannot be accessed to clean off. Weather stripping on one window pulls off every time the window is opened and needs to be snapped back on. The windows themselves are just okay. Installers arrived in specified timeframe and project of 16 windows (minus the missing one) completed in one day. True window review should be done a couple years after installation. Waiting to compare energy costs.Update: Lost window was found. We are told our window was installed in someone elses home. They have reached out to us to hopefully rectify this.

We had Chris over to meet with us regarding a second Universal project at our home, purchasing new windows to replace existing. Our goal was to match the new windows as closely as possible to the original, historical windows of the house. Chris was outstanding and professional in all aspects of the appointment and the services we discussed. He was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to discuss options and ideas with us, answer our questions, and ensure all of our expectations were met. He really took the time to help us arrive at our final decision, respecting our budget and time. From start to finish I couldnt be more pleased, they arrived early on time this morning, both installer were polite and knowledgeable, I had 5 windows installed, one being a large picture window. They were careful not to create any mess, and as a matter of fact when they completed the job you couldnt even tell they were here, except for the brand new clean windows. Understandably the window took a long time to arrive (6 months), the crew was not prepared to do the install and had to come back. They arrive the following week only to discover that the window was the wrong color but only after they cut out the side of the house. The wrong window was installed very poorly might I add and again we wait. FINALLY, in October the right window arrives but once again the crew arrives unprepared to do the install. On October 11 the install finally happens and they leave without giving us an invoice. We figured it would come from the home office. We get contacted from the Accounts Receivable department and the woman is rude and belligerent. We told her we just need an invoice. Now she calls every other day for payment. We received the invoice on October 19th. She obviously doesnt watch the news and understand the issues with the USPS.

All of the installers were great. Professional, polite, and friendly. Not only did they do a careful and thorough job removing the old windows and installing the new ones, but the trim work looks great, and they did a wonderful job cleaning up as well. I have zero complaints, and I really love the quality of the windows and the installation!

Great experience, all things considered. A few delays that were tied to the supply chain issues that most every company is dealing with this year (including mine) but outside of that, I would characterize our experience with Universal to be a very positive one. The installation team was the highlight. They did a fantastic job, finished the job in a single day, and seemed to really take pride their work. Top notch.

Chris came over when i was on a time crunch and he was so informative! He showed me all the good points of these vs. other windows and i ended up purchasing the windows! He was very helpful and kind, very honest and I hat is important ✌️i would recommend this company to everyone. So far so good!

Thank you!I gave UWD 4 stars only because we just ordered the windows and they haven’t been installed yet. We bought our farmhouse 3 years ago. The windows are old, drafty, and retain moisture. Some of them don’t open or are very hard to open. My husband and I decided it was time to look into replacing 12 windows in our home. Jeff was great! We didn’t feel pressured and he was very professional. He was on time for the estimate appointment. He brought several samples, a demo window and was very informative. Jeff was able to answer all of our questions and we feel we were given a great price. There were several options for payment and we were able to choose one we were comfortable with. My husband and I did shop around and we really liked the quality of UWD windows the best. We can also appreciate the true lifetime and transferable warranty. We are very excited about our windows and can not wait to see them after install.

Installers were great! 2 installers and an apprentice removed all my old windows and installed 20 windows and a sliding patio door in about 7 hours. They cleaned up after themselves, we’re knowledgeable and professional. We couldn’t be happier with the installation process. It’s still too early to tell how much we like the windows and door but if they’re anything like the installation I’m sure we will be happy.

Had window ordered then 3 times they installed chipped, stuff between window panes and then ordered another chipped window. Im still waiting for a good window. Waiting for try number 4

*update* 5/5/21: They came yesterday and installed the door finally. Fairly happy with that job, as the new door is significantly better than the old one, minus all the scuff marks left on the glass from its construction. Installers said they dont clean the glass, and Id have to take care of that myself.Also, all the windows previously installed had some kind of black film on them. I left it for the installers to see. Luckily, it mostly came off (when I cleaned it myself), but is stained on some of the caulk. See pics attached.They did forget to bring the final pieces for the windows they already installed (screw/guide covers), so I am once again waiting on them to contact me to schedule that part. I was told Id get a call ASAP. Its been 24+ hours now, still no call.Placed the order in November. Paid for the order in November. After waiting 6 months, and experiencing the mess of it all as explained below, I was not offered anything as an apology. No additional services. No discount. No additional products. Nothing.I kept hoping someone there would at least try to make up for all their wrongdoing, but alas, I have been given no reason to ever give business to Universal Windows Direct again. Could not be more disappointed in this experience.*original post*First off, they came to install my windows and sliding glass door yesterday. The installers were nice and I liked them, but one had such a heavy odor of cigarette smoke, it stuck in my house all day and gave my wife a headache all night...not happy about that.Secondly, I placed this order in November. They just got it ready and came to install yesterday. THEY MADE THE WRONG SIZE sliding glass door. So the door I ordered months ago, and paid for already, still isnt installed. They couldnt give me a timeframe as to when they could get it and get it installed. I understand, these things take time. Guy said hed have a manager call me to discuss. They still havent called. I did get a voicemail from them, asking if I had a great experience...clearly I didnt, and they didnt get that memo. I called them back, and left a message, asking for someone to call. Still nothing.All in all, very disappointed so far that Ive spent thousands of dollars and have waited 4 months to get this stuff, and they messed it up, and have yet to even discuss this with me. Given this experience, Ill be going somewhere else for the rest of the windows in my house unless they can make this right. Very poor customer service.

Everyone at universal windows was great. From Dan, our sales representitive to our installers. The pricing and quality of the windows is really awesome. Noah and his team came and installed our windows in only 4 hours and way ahead of schedule which was great. The installers were all very professional and worked well as a team together which made the install go smoothly. 5 stars all across the board.

Nothing but problems with this company. They have caused an immeasurable amount of stress and weve had to miss work multiple times to try and get their errors resolved (which are still not resolved more than a month after the initial installation). Their installation was shoddy and weve had to fight to get what weve already paid for taken care of - I dont think its asking too much to have the windows and trim they charged me for installed properly, but apparently that was setting my expectations too high. I do not recommend their company and suggest you take your business elsewhere.

Had 9 windows installed, getting a quote for additional work as well. 4/5 stars only because the customer service is lacking but the installers where great may change my review after secondary work. I would still recommend them.

I love my new windows and patio doors! The installers did a great job. They were polite, respectful, and considerate. The crew worked like a well oiled machine. I was impressed at how well they worked together and how quickly the job was completed. When installation was complete one of the installers showed me all of the features of the windows and how to operate them. After they left I noticed how quiet the house was. The windows block outside noise very well.

I inquired on replacing a single window and quickly got a call from Joe. He continually asked me about my husband and getting him involved on the project (as if I was doing something behind his back?) because “a lot goes into a window project- like the handles” and “it can be really expensive”. I hope the call was recorded because he knows how to belittle women.I didn’t realize Joe was from the 1800’s when women need permission and an allowance. I told him I was capable of having the conversation on window handles and sills on my own. Needless to say, I will not be doing business with misogynistic Joe or this company.

Not only is my new window beautiful but it was professionally installed by Marvin and Bobby Keener. They were on time ,careful with the outside plants , and cleaned up without a trace. Highly recommend them !!

We had a great experience with our install. We had a three man crew show up on time. Before they started, they put tarps down wherever they were going to walk. All of our windows, 16 total, were installed in one day. The windows, double pane, have greatly reduced the outside noise.Our experience from the first sales call to the final install was great. We had a lot of estimates and decided on these windows for overall options and value. We didnt get the best, but we didnt get the lowest either.Save yourself some time and money and call Univeral.

Sales was great, getting the final measurements and windows built took about 2 months due to business being busy which was okay. Install was fast and great, would have been a 5 star but. Caulking as missed in 2 spots and some got on the window surface. All and all the windows do look great though.

I want to say what a fabulous job Ben and his crew did! They were not only on time but a little early! They covered all my floors to protect them. They courteous, professional and respectful to me and my house! They explained what was going to happen and answered all my questions and concerns in a respectful manner. Best of all, when all was said and done they cleaned everything up and would never know they were there. Already have plans to have them put new windows in my back porch next year. Once our windows had arrived at the facility and were inspected we got them in within a few days!!! We have 4 dogs and we were unable to find an available place to board our bunch on the instal date. If I could give them zero stars, I would. We are paying 16,000 for windows that we signed for in December and since then we have experienced TWO no calls no shows. My husband has taken off work twice to be here and the installers never showed both times. After emailing and reaching out, I am told that the installers will be here tomorrow and nobody needs to be home since it’s exterior work. So, not only did we experience terrible customer service, my husband missed worked which is money from our pockets for a job that they can apparently do without anyone here.I asked for compensation of some sort for this, and I was given the reply “after 19 years we have found our warranty is far more valuable to our customers”.Really? You’re not offering us anything that we didn’t sign up for. When you sign, you get that warranty already. That doesn’t make up for the negligence on your end.We have had lots of rain with our exposed wood/siding, and if this rain has damaged that because of this wrong doing there’s going to be a long road ahead. My mind is blown that a company who prides themselves on “customer experience” so much just screws the ones who have been loyal. Will NEVER recommend them and will NEVER use them in any of our properties again.

On time did a great job. The downside is one of the windows was cracked and have to wait who knows how long until the replacement comes in. Over all very satisfied.

Use this Company for a glass slideing door replacement. I was told by salesman if theres any rotted wood they would replace it. Also the guy who came to measure the door said it will probably need wood replaced. Few months later were putting in a new floor only to find out the wood under the door is roited even a hole and all they did was fill the hole with foam. Im very disappointed that they didnt stick to their word and on top of it didnt even notify me about the issue. They just put the door right on top of the rotted wood.

The installers were professional, respectful and courteous. The windows look amazing both from the inside and outside.

We wouldnt recommend Universal Windows Direct unless they can get someone who knows how to measure. We ordered two patio doors, one a two panel and the other was a three panel.The two panel door was off by 2.5 inches and had to be shimmed in on either side so they were centered. The three panel one was off by 3 inches and also had to be shimmed in on either side. By the time the errors were discovered, it was too late to do anything about it.The trim around the doors on the inside had to be removed and no longer worked as it was not wide enough. Today we received a call saying the trim had been ordered; however, they would not finish it to match the rest of our trim - we have to do that. Never mind that it was their mistake in the first place that things werent measured correctly.Other than that, they do look good. But were very dissatisfied with the outcome, especially having to stain the trim around the doors ourselves when it wasnt our fault.

DO NOT waste your time and money on this company. The only positive experience we had was the installment team- other than that weve had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS. We ordered windows back in MAY- we were told it would be no later than end of July/beginning of Aug for installation. Sales lady forgot to include our (tiny-12x20) bathroom window because she didnt want to climb into the tub to measure and said thats about the size of a basement window so I will just jot that down. When they came to measure they said it wasnt in the paperwork and they wanted to add an ADDITIONAL $800 for that ONE window so now we have one old window amongst the new. Windows and doors werent installed until September 15- one door size was apparently ordered incorrectly (the measurement was correct on the paperwork from the team that came out to measure) and weve still yet to hear where that door is or when we will have that installed (Oct 23), one window has cracked already, and theres scuffing between the panes on another. FINALLY got a hold of someone (October 8th) after weeks of calling and leaving messaged and they say they ordered replacement windows for the cracked and scuffed ones and said another guy would be calling us concerning the loan because THEY MESSED THAT UP TOO. We were sold on the zero payments and interest for 2 years promotion they had going on and received our first notice for payment due this month (Oct). We looked into it further and they dated the paperwork for the END of September so we missed the promotional date for that even though the loan was applied for in May when we signed everything. The lady said we will be receiving a call from this guy about the loan in a few business days and it has been almost 3 weeks. Why do we have to pay for something when the job is not completed yet and theres no estimated time when we will get the correct door and new windows?! GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!!!!**UPDATE!!!!**DECEMBER 10, 2020STILL no door or replacement windows!!!! The company was very good at responding the day I left the negative review but nothing has been done after that (shocker)! Still cant get answers from anyone about when our things will be done and installed. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!

Universal Windows has very good communication via phone calls, emails and texts to keep us in the loop the entire process. Timeline kept as promised. Installer had a little trouble getting my old sliding glass door out but was determined to finish even though he was scheduled to go to another job that day. He stayed until he finished. He did not cut any corners to finish sooner. Love that guy Bob and the entire Universal Window Team!

The sales member was great and made us comfortable with the sale and process! Walking us through our home and giving us honest feedback on what needed done, and what could probably wait to help our budget. There was a small miscommunication on install day, but they were quick to adjust and get us back on the schedule as soon as possible with the right materials. They even came in under time estimated for the instal and our windows look great!

The service was impressive, the team was friendly and professional, and best of all they were in and out without disturbing us! I highly recommend this organization and team!

We ordered windows and sliding door over a year ago right from the start they had brought wrong color door handle and one of the crank out windows had not been fastened so it could not retract told us they would be back after ordering parts also when slider was installed they damaged the rubber threshold. They finally came back 6 weeks later and had brought all wrong replacement parts to us it would be another 6 weeks to come backThey still have not been here, finally called me back and said it would be another 8 weeks and scheduled appointment on July 29, 13 months after install never again will I or my friends ever use this half as company

They were professional and quick. Knew what they were doing and made sure to clean up everything before they left. The only way I could tell they came is the beautiful new windows!

Very costly. I do hope they are as good as advertised windows but I do love them at this time. Installers were fantastic!! Measurements were not. Be aware if John is your measuring tech. Word is that something will be incorrect. My basement windows are incorrect and couldnt be installed and I have yet to hear from the company about it at this time. Install was 7 days ago.Round 2, windows have been very nice. Since I never utilized the AC with the original windows, I dont know how much of a difference it has actually made (but I assume a lot!!! Dont feel drafts or anything). Basement window install has failed again but Im personally thankful for the install crew. He told me he could make them work if Id like, but we both quickly agreed that we want them done right and not just done. So a new set of windows are being prepared.

Salesman was knowledgeable in questions regarding windows. Installers were friendly and professional. Very happy with the finished product. They arrived on time and finished when they had expected to.

Matt Wakefield is the best. Truly talented at what he does. Is helpful and comprehensive and makes you feel comfortable throughout the process. The product is great and I would definitely recommend anyone to work with Matt if they need new windows or siding. Windows were installed in November of 2019. One of the windows after install would not open, unless forced open. Once open, said window would not stay open. Installer said he couldnt do anything and that they needed to order a part. Its now April 2021, and I have made several attempts to get someone out for service. Every time Ive called in, I have been told Im so sorry about that, we will get someone out there asap... I have still yet to get my window fixed.For the amount of money I invested in these windows, I expected a lot more from them. Theyre fine from a quality standpoint, but I could have purchased similar enough windows from another place, saved a ton of money, and received better customer service.Do yourself a favor, and go elsewhere for your windows. They talk a great game, but dont deliver.

Phenomenal customer service! I was assisted by Cody Connare today, extremely professional, made sure all my concerns were addressed and needs met.

UWD installed a new glass sliding door for us. After install we noticed a major manufacturing defect in the glass. Apparently no quality control and now weeks before they can address it with a replacement. The same door is now leaking at the seams with major puddle of water inside my home on a hardwood floor. Two weeks before anyone can even come out and address it. The people we encountered at UWD are professional, kind and courteous but we had hoped for a much more quality installation.

We had a new window put into our kitchen. This new window was bigger than the old one we had. The Salesman was very easy to work with and knowledgeable about their products. They sent someone out to measure the window and he worked with me on the exact measurements. The installation team was great. They asked me a few questions about how I wanted the window to sit in the frame. Then did a great job finishing the work. I was impressed with how the outside encasement looked when they were done.

The windows seem to be good quality windows. We just had an install about a week ago, so we will comment in a year or 2 as well. The issue we had was time of service. There was a mix up of the times- service came at 8am and were not due until 12p. We asked them to come back at scheduled time, they agreed but then no one ever showed or called. We finally called about 1p to see where someone was and they didnt have any one scheduled to come out which also means had we not called we would not have known. This really through our whole day out and it also meant we had to schedule yet another day, which we did and almost had the same situation if the service men didnt decide to wait outside until the 12p time. Its nice for them to be early when that works with your schedule but they need to make sure they confirm that the new time is ok with the client

Salesman was good. The installers are fantastic, clean, courteous, supergood at their job and very easy to approach. The entire process has been positive.

The installers were great! However, they failed to tell me that one window couldn’t get installed because it was miss measured (mind you two different people take measurements before ordering is done). Thus causing me to inevitably push back my blinds installation scheduled for Friday. I called an spoke to installation manager and he told me well your window is covered by your life time warranty so we will rush the order for you when the installers turn it your paperwork. The lifetime warranty comment was not relevant to this issue at all. So now I have to wait on a window to be reordered, shipped and my appointment for blind installation is now scheduled out til October (everyone is behind because of CoVID. I just want to finish this remodel on our home already!

All 3 were professional. Got it done quickly. Just couple odd things. At the end 2 guys left. Well there was a problem trying to get a window out to show me how its done. It took him about 30 mins to fix the issues. Maybe had the other guys double checked all of the windows then the guy that was stuck here could have left soon?

We recently purchased windows from Universal Windows Direct and could not be happier with our experience! From the first phone call to schedule an estimate the customer service has been stellar! The salesman who came to the house was polite, knowledgeable, and professional. He was genuine, was not pushy, and took the time to educate us on the windows, process, and to answer our questions.There was a delay in the windows being installed related to COVID (which is understandable), but the customer service team kept us informed of the delays along the way via email, which was super helpful! Thankfully the windows were able to be installed during the warm weather we had in November just before the cold weather hit.The installers were awesome, efficient, and ensured everything was installed correctly. When they showed up to install the windows, they were upfront with us and shared that half the windows had the satin nickel hardware we ordered and half had white. The installers already made their team aware and placed an order for the remaining satin nickel hardware that day. We also noticed that a couple of the windows had chips in the corners of the vinyl and one had a marker stain. Universal Windows Direct sent someone out within a week to inspect and order the replacement sashes and ensured the satin nickel hardware was ordered. Again, they kept us informed along the way via email and called us when everything was ready to be replaced.The representative who came out to replace the items was knowledgeable, personable, and did an excellent job!Best part is they have a lifetime warranty on the windows for us and 30 years to the next owner! We LOVE our new windows and are so happy with our purchase. Thank you Universal Windows Direct for the amazing windows and excellent customer service!

The installers called to give me a time of arrival. Great. Windows look great. Very efficient. My only issue had nothing to do with the installers but the office end. No appropriate paperwork provided for me to sign..

Id give them 0 stars if that was an option. We purchased whole home replacement windows in June of 2020. Our salesman assured us these windows would be installed by the end of August 2020 at the latest. They ended up not actually being installed until October of 2020 - there was ZERO communication from the company, we left dozens of messages for people to call us back and give us updates, the ONLY time someone would contact us is when I would complain on their facebook page, we would get a call. When they finally did install the windows, they were installing our patio sliding door and my husband notice it was too small for the opening AS THEY WERE INSTALLING IT. Had my husband not started questioning them, they would have installed the door and were planning on covering the 2 inch gap with a wood trim piece. Thankfully he saw it and they re-ordered the door. We have a large picture window in our kitchen that beads with moisture now, when we had a tech come back and look at it - he said oh its just the first year of a new window... What?? We still have one window that was not installed correctly and needs to be replaced, and they keep pushing back the re-installation of this window, with the most recent push back being to May of 2021, but this is the second time they have canceled and re-scheduled. So its been almost a year since we bought our windows and this project is STILL NOT DONE. Avoid this company at all costs - their salesmen talk a good game, but its all lies. Once they have your money, their service is HORRIBLE. Major buyers remorse.

Im beyond disgusted with the way universal windows has treated us. We spent just over $20,000 CASH and they refuse to work with us to install designer glass to a door that looks completely wrong on our home. The salesman gave us incorrect information regarding the glass options when he was here so we had to decide on the spot over text message which glass we wanted instead. The rain glass is so plain, cheap and ugly on our home. The windows are cheap, the door is cheap and the gutters ended up costing us $3,000 more than what we were quoted because, again, of the salesman who came to our home not quoting us correctly. Im completely dissatisfied and keep trying to reach out to universal to rectify. Its been impossible to find someone who is willing to go above and beyond, or exactly where they should go to keep a HIGH dollar paying customer happy and in good graces. Questionable company. I would only recommend if you are willing to sit on the phone day in day out and fight for yourself.
