I was referred to the Exchange by a trusted friend in the industry, but havent been able to make it in due to the fact that I live an hour outside of Baton Rouge. I was finally in the area running errands for work and had a little spare time to kill. The hours posted stated that they open at noon, so I pulled up at 11:45 and waited for 15 minutes. After no one had opened the door at 12:05, I walked up and knocked to no answer. I heard a gate close somewhere else on the building and walked around looking for a side entrance to no avail. I came back to the front and knocked again, at roughly 12:10. After no answer, I sat on the front steps, content to wait. After a few minutes a gentleman opened the door with a very to-the-point What do you want?. I asked if they had any loop pedals in stock and was abruptly told Dude were closed. Youve been out here knocking for the last hour. I mentioned that the hours said noon, guy said Well were closed right now. Thanks though., and proceeded to go back inside. Ive never posted a bad review for any local business Ive ever visited, but this put me off to the point that I felt the need to share. I was really trying to avoid Guitar Center while supporting and respecting the community, but its a two-way street, and while its a soul sucking corporation that destroys small businesses, theyre pretty concise when it comes to their operating hours.

Baton Rouge music exchange has an inviting feel , accompanied by a very nice collection of instruments and equipment. The staff make customers feel welcomed and treat them more so like a peer than customer. There’s no pressure to purchase anything and no discouraging response to requests about handling instruments

A local business offering bargains on cool instruments. I just bought my 3rd acoustic guitar and am quite pleased with each one. Friendly, casual, no pressure to buy. Check them out before looking elsewhere or buying online.

Stopped in, found a cool selection of used gear. Adam was very friendly and we chatted about various gear. BRME also has some local bands cds and also has amps from a locally owned Redoux Amplification (which are badass!)

Incredible staff and store, it was somewhere between walking into church and your own cozy living room, full of great gear, good prices, friendly people, and all around one of the best music stores Ive been to anywhere in the US. Highly recommended!!
