Really great staff I would definitely recommend village cycle sport to anyone for all of their road bike and mountain biking needs. I have had them help me with both rebuilding my mountain bikes as well as helping tune my road bike. Really go out of their way to exceed customer expectations. The manager Mike is top notch!

I have known Doug for more than a decade, we went to school together & later and we worked at the same company for a time. I use him for all my plumbing needs, mainly re-pipe work: sinks, faucets, toilet installs. He is super clean, provides straight answers, and I trust him on a level to refer him to my family/neighbors.

I truly enjoy coming here . I have been a customer for many years. The staff is very knowledgeable and work with me to determine what is the best option for me. Whether its a new bike, accessory, or if i bring my bikes in for service. Would not go to another place.

Had a problem with my Gary Fisher bike. The pedal arm bolt went lose and popped off while I was riding the trails, and the bolt was lost in the grass while traveling at a high rate of speed unfortunately. I contacted the shop, and spoke to Doug. He said to bring the pedal arm in and pictures of the area where the bolt was missing which I did. I arrived 20 min later, he sized up the piece, dug through the toolbox of his and handed me the replacement bolt. He couldn’t promise it was the right piece (it’s a customized piece on my bike), but from the looks of it, he “thought” it would be the right replacement. If not, I can come back in and he would see what he could do…. I went home, put the piece on, and it fit: Perfectly. Just by looking at it from a pic on my phone- the special part- matched up as if it was made for the bike in the first place. I tightened it up to spec, took it out, and went 12 miles with no issues. These guys are awesome, and thanks to you Doug for your keen eye on getting me back to hitting the streets and trails! Nice bikes in there, high end and a group of people who know how to take care of their customers. (I bought my bike from them in 2008, and it’s still going strong). Go see them. Visiting family in the area with my bike and noticed my derailleur hanger was bent (…again) - took it here even though they don’t sell my brand of bike and they were able to find a matching hanger and swap it out right then! Very impressed with these folks.

In spite of a global shortage of bikes, the quality of service was first class. Our sales rep was very open and honest about the reality and make it clear when bikes will be available. I am looking forward to getting it in early September.

I was really impressed with the crew of people working there, they were all very friendly and patient with my newbie questions and provided a ton of extra information to me as well as got my bike up and running in 24 hours! I will be using this shop for all my future cycling needs for both myself and my family.

My family had 4 bikes tuned up this Spring at Village Cyclesport. We sid not receive the service that we expected. We scheduled two bikes at a time due to Covid. Each time we had an issue. One bike had not been tuned when we arrived. After taking it home we noted the need for the missing service. Our trip was 25 mile drive each way from our home so it was an inconvenience, but we needed the service.We took in our 2nd pair on schedule a couple wweks later and were given a completion time. We arrived and both bikes were not ready. We never received an alert not to come in and needed to rake the round trip twice.We decided not to work with them again even before we got a flat tire on one of bikes on our first ride. Maybe they are having a bad time with COVID-19 and this tire issue is a coincidence, but we will not use their service again.

This is the third bike Ive bought from Village Cycle, at both locations (Barrington and Arlington Heights) and Im genuinely very happy that we have such great independent bike shops in the area. Theyre knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. In the Covid times bikes are nearly impossible to track down, so when I saw they had stock in a bike I was looking for I knew there was no time to wait. I saw the bike, they helped me with a test ride and we were able to get out the door with very little issue. But if you have questions or arent sure what you want to do, they have the ability to help you out as well. Their commitment to your satisfaction is outstanding.

Never disappointed here - brought my road bike in because trainer stand use had destroyed the rear tire and big gear. Found me more appropriate parts for a great price, since I just wanted something affordable and basic, and now the bike rides like new. Silent, smooth, and now with parts that will keep it that way longer. Village is the best!

Good group of people working at Village CycleSport. They were honest and fair with needed repairs for two bikes and helpful with the new bike we bought for my son.

When we went in it was busy, but the staff took the time to greet us and answer any questions. We had the flexibility to try as many bikes as we wishes during our visit. I ended up purchasing and the turn around to walk out with my new bike was quick and easy. Recently brought it in for the 60 check up. Again staff was friendly and answered all my questions. They even did some minor repairs for me on my visit. I look forward to taking some bike care workshops in the fall!

TREMENDOUS Customer Service. There is always someone who can help you. They did a complete tune up on an old bike and made it new. They have super qualified and experienced service folks. And, when I needed to purchase helmets and accessories, they were fully stocked and treated my middle school girls like they were princesses. I wont go anywhere else!!

They deliver as promised. Ordered bike and it was ready 3 days earlier than expected. Brought said bike in for gear adjustment and they immediately took the bike made an adjustment and was on my way. When you order parts they call you immediately when part arrives. I would also like to add they are easy to deal with. I recently had to return a bike lock after a week it was not performing the way it should and they took it back with receipt no problem. So I would say they passed all tests as far as I’m concerned. Would recommend and would purchase another Verve bike from this location again.

I went to Village CycleSport in Barrington a few days ago looking for new bike as I have had them put together a couple of bikes in the past, and they did a great job. The salesperson, upon my last visit, was very accommodating and nice. I called a day later to say that my father had given me one of his older, yet very expensive, bikes - so, I was going to buy a new one for my wife and have the old one fixed. They told me to come in - I said I would come in around 11:30 AM on Sunday - the service person said sure. I went in today and was told to wait - no problem. But then, we were passed over three times for help so that new customers who came in could be addressed. After waiting for 25 minutes, watching three different workers ignore us even after telling us to originally wait caused me to leave. We live local and wanted to shop locally. However, the customer service in this shop doesnt represent our neighborhood. I will never return or recommend as customer service is everything.

I needed the derailleurs to be adjusted. When I called, they suggested to stop by but couldnt promise to get it done same day. I did stop by, prepared to drop off the bike for a few days yet they adjusted the derailleurs (and put on a new chain) on the spot. Wow, what a SERVICE, totally impressed. A bicycle store closer to my home told me that I would have to drop off the bike and that it would take at least 10 or 12 days once I dropped off the bike. What a difference in Service! I know where Ill be going in the future.

Mike went through the process of asking my riding plans, taking my measurements, researching and finally, actually recommending a brand that they dont carry. Thats pretty straight up honesty! Taking customer service to heart, he went through the trouble of becoming a dealer for that brand and getting me my dream bike! It didnt stop there, upon delivery, we went through an impressive fitting and adjusting session. Topped off with an explanation of a long list of services included at no charge the first year!First rate experience!

Poor customer service. I called asking if they had a part in stock. First phone call the guy passed me to parts/service where I was on hold for 15 mins with no updates or check ins. When I called back 2 hours later (I figured they were busy) they answered. Guy out me on hold to check with the people in the back. After a few minutes somebody answered and asked if I was being helped and I said yes. Put me back on hold. Then a few minutes later. I hear the line being picked up and they hung up... I called for the 3rd time, this time right away and the guy told me right away they didnt have it in stock....Bad staff communication and procedures for handling calls and on hold calls. I was planning to check out this local business. But I think first impressions didnt go so well

Had a clicking noise on my road bike heard during an entire Century ride in WI. Took it in to the AH location, tightened a few screws and said thats not uncommon with these bikes...?Took it into the Barrington location, they disassembled the main gear, actually investigated the issue and corrected the problem. Wow! Customer Service was outstanding! Im so pleased, were going there to look for a bike for my wife now. Thanks to Mike and Doug(?) how were instrumental in resolving this. Thanks guys!

Hope you dont get the white headed grumpy guy who works behind the service desk and obviously hates his life or something. I have never seen such an unenthusiastic person work a job where he has to interact with people before, I am truly appalled. I tried to politely compliment him on how fast he fixed my flat for me and he had the audacity to say I actually took my time on it, but okThe only reason I can give 2 stars is because the younger fellow - whom must be a new employee - ran to the door and helped me with my bike inside in despite it pouring rain outside and even offered to help it back into my car. He actually was getting made fun of by the white haired guy who thought it was funny to ask if he knows what hes doing over there and that my bike wont bite, junior. Real classy, so very professional.

I have recently purchased a car carriers from Village Cyclesport - Barrington for my family. The staffs knowledge is second to none, and an informative conversation can always be had. For me, there is no other bike store in the Barrington/Palatine area.

Very kind people at this Bike Shop. Ive gone in today to ask a simple favor to put a bike chain on and they were very courteous to help me. I came in right at closing time and I was guessing that it will only take a minute but it turned out to be difficult. Joey and Adam stayed after hours helping me and charged me nearly nothing just for a small part. Not only was the chain out on but the brakes were checked and some adjustments. Would very much recommend this bike shop for their service, kindness and expertise.

I was interested in getting back into biking after retiring. I used to ride a lot in college, but that was many moons ago.I stopped by Village Cycle Sport not ready to buy quite yet; I was looking for information on how bike technology had evolved and to get some guidance on which type of bike would be best for my intended riding.I didnt learn anything here. My questions were met with glazed eyes and bored indifference. Once they realized I wasnt there to buy something then and there, I might as well have been invisible.

Purchased my bike there and the staff was super knowledgeable. Also service after purchase has been excellent.

Great bike shop. Knowledgable employees and a first rate repair staff. Priced about the same as others in the neighborhood but the product selection and service make this my number one stop when I need repairs or new products. They also support local bike/education projects and local charity rides with minor tune ups and repairs. Great addition to the neighborhood.

Mike at the Barrington store has always treated me well and serviced my bicycles in a timely fashion. I have also had great experiences with the bike tech Doug. Keep up the great work.

It may be different now. My experience was 2 years ago. Bikes were not assembled correctly. Internal cable routing on S-Works, Tarmac and other model demo bikes were not done correctly. Cable rattled inside the down tube. Repeated fix on the bike purchased and it never shifted correctly. Took it by a shop in Winfield (Trek) shop and all has been good for two years. Noise with bottom bracket was met with a solution that would have cost several hundred dollars .I took it apart, lube it and the problem disappeared. As I said, this is in the past and things may be straightened out. All I can say is let the buyer beware!

Besides having a great selection of bikes and all the necessary accessories, the Barrington shop has an excellent service department. The mechanics there are expert and able to handle all types of adjustments and repairs you may need on the highest end road and tri-bikes. I trust them to keep my bicycles in great working order.

The service department took my bike right away without a wait. Adjusted my front brakes and tweaked the gears for no charge. Excellent customer service. Highly recommended for all your biking needs!

Just wanted to give my thanks to this bike shop. I brought my road bike in for a replacement spoke and to fix a mystery noise coming from the front wheel. They did an excellent job with the repairs, even swapping out my pedals for me free of charge. They did not pressure me when upselling additional services, once I declined nothing more was mentioned.The service was done on schedule and they even wiped down the bike when they finished. I will be coming back here in the future!

I had a rear shift cable installed by another local Trek dealer in preparation for a weekend trip and the bike was unrideable. I stopped in Village Cycles new store for an emergency repair. Jimmy was the tech not only fixed it within minutes but wouldnt take a dime for his time! Needless to say they have earned a life long customer. Thanks again for saving my weekend!!!

Ive been frequenting my LBSs (local bike shops) for more than 30 years, starting with my little BMX bikes. I typically wrench on my bikes myself, but I coordinated a recent bike build with the guys at Village CycleSport in Barrington. Not only are they knowledgeable, but they are super patient. The worked with me throughout and really offered some keen insight to get me (and my bike) to a happy place. Thanks!Also, you should note that these guys do ALL of the right things you would expect from your LBS. They sponsor nearly every club and team in the area. They participate in many local rides and even lead some. They also support community bike events!Keep your money local and do your best to support this community partner.

Avoid this store if you can. Customer Service is terrible. Few clerks in store mean long waits are common and they dont know how to handle situations when there are more customers than clerks. Stock on accessories is limited so call ahead if you need something same day and avoid a wasted trip.
