The owner, Zakiya Shivers, has impeccable and discerning taste in the items she selects for her shop— a great mixture of bohemian, African, and vintage apparel, shoes and accessories. The inventory changes all the time as, in addition to her own selections, “Ms. Tightfisted” regularly invites local artists to display and vend their own goods and frequently hosts special events for such occasions. As a result, Tightfisted Fashion has a genuine, down to earth community vibe. First of all as the owner told me “she’s not a real consignment shop.” I traveled all the way from DC to see if they would be interested in 3 name brand handbags... when I got to the store the owner didn’t even want to open up the door for me, she actually talked to me through the door. When I told her I was there to offer a couple of handbags for sale , she didn’t want to see how the bags looked. Actually, I left without her ever seeing the bags. She was stand-off ish and rude. She treated me as if I was some crack head off the street, no respect! But what can I expect when they’re located in the hood of Baltimore. Hell, I barely felt safe walking to the shop. If you have goods and you want to do business, go to the more affluent areas but not this one. It’s in the hood and the owner is rude, not worth the risk.

In the past 3 years I have made the most amazing finds here in thrifting across Baltimore. The offerings are updated through the month, always affordable, and vast in their style. The space has also become a hub for artists and musicians curating brilliant work and creating stunning wardrobes to match.

Tightfisted Fashion is definitely trans friendly !!! The sales woman was so kind! She made crystal jewelry and had lovely clothes and allowed me to use the restroom without making a purchase. We exchanged cards and she shared with me their upcoming events!Great shop!
