This Kmart has survived. A good store for the people of Avenel. Kinda plain and a little dull but it serves the purpose. Will this Kmart be one of the last standing? They have a decent selection of merchandise.

Really surprised with this location. I wasn’t expecting much as it’s the last KMart in NJ that I’m aware of, but the inside looks as good as it could being how old the building is. The music in store is modern, the PA speaker worked, and the few staff I’ve seen seemed happy.A chunk of the back of the store is sectioned off, but all the store furniture were stocked, and flexed to appear full, which looked nice. In terms of a store worker, everything was blocked and faced forward, the shelves were clean, and the floor was as clean as it could be. There are a few sections of the floor that are worn out and missing, but overall, everything looked clean. The store is taking COVID precautions, although not all customers were wearing them, but all staff were.Although the KMart sign outside was faded, the inside of the store has new signage for price tags and looked very modern, even though it looked like everything was on sale.There were a few things I saw (coolers and seasonal things) that were priced really high, much more than another store like Walmart or even Target, though most everything was on some kind of sale, expect to pay around the same or maybe a little less than Walmart. I picked up a few food items on clearance that still had a few months left, but overall were okay.

Love this location! Traveled from upstate NY, and had a blast. So glad to still be able to go to a Kmart in 2021!

What an amazing and wonderful experience at your store. Mrs. Sue and Mrs. Janet are the most professional customer service ladies Ive had the pleasure to meet. Outstanding, they held 13 polos for me in which I traveled from Rockaway to come and purchase and to the end of the delightful experience I met Chris , what an amazing young man and was so funny with my son. Thank you to your wonderful and outstanding customer service employees, kudos. I will be letting all my family and friends know, and I will definitely be returning.

Three Stars only because of one reason ! The Staff : Not at all helpful, not cooperative..Except for only one of the male staff members at billing counter who seem to extremely nice and friendly, all are cold n rude.However, I like this store since its inexpensive, so reasonable prices and theirs products are good at such genuine price.Kmart has a brand named -Basic Editions which I usually buy clothes from & its amazing quality is worth mentioning . I found its products much better than lots of other so called renowned brands .This store has almost everything you may look for like bedding, clothes, condiments, some grocery, furniture, flowers, seasonal home decor .I love visiting this store with my family every once in a while .

Pretty large location. They had a variety of things, from kids’ toys to outdoor furniture. Many of the things at this location were priced considerable cheaper than other stores in the area. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent.

This store is dead, it doesnt look like anyone works in the store, which makes it impossible to ask for assistance. Unfortunately gives the sense that this location will close soon. Prices are too high for what looks like liquidation inventory.

I’m not sure what everyone is talking about that’s it’s empty. The shelves were all but over flowing with stuff throughout the whole store! It was a great experience and staff was very helpful!

Lots of parking,coin star machine works great.very nice customer service. i wish they had a slurpee machine still.

Selections of items are getting to be less & less as time goes on. Always have difficulty finding my size jeans 34 x 34. Forget sweat pants size large, theyre loaded with 2X & larger. Housewares & kitchenwares tend to be a lil barren looking ( empty spots on shelves)

Store looks likes it going out of business! Which will be within a few months. Nothing there to choose from. Most of the stock is out. And the backs of the store is empty, closing in to the front. They say blowout sale but things are pretty pricey for Kmart. Dont recommend to go there. Waste of time. Not the same as back in the day. Very disappointed. Walmart is better.

All the stores have closed by us so we like visiting this last one.There was an issue with an order I placed online for in-store pick up. Customer Service Rep helped get the order correct. Easy-peasy.

A little weird cuz there were NO customers. I love having the store to myself. I would go back.

It was terrible. Went to get Christmas lights and there were none at all. Seems as though this location is closing and they are just shifting the merchandise around to get rid of it. It was depressing and there was only a handful of employees. They should call it already and close and hopefully put something good there in its place.

The place is huge but also awkward. No music. Lab lighting. Cashier was so sweet.

It has changed a lot they sell nothing but clothes now no electronics now. Prices are low for clothes you can get a good deal

Found great styles for my mom and sister, at incredible prices. I had no idea the prices were so good.Great location and parking.Clean and convenient.Fully recomend adding this store to your shopping trips.

Beats Walmart every day

Id think Corona made this place emptier and faster but no. Just empty. I waited in line for half an hour with 4 people in line and some lady forgot her credit card. So the entire line had to wait ten minutes for her to get it DO NOT SHOP HERE

Happy that there still open especially now since the whole covid thing.. they did closed off certain sections tho. But they still have so much stuff on display. :)

Very few people inside, so you could shop without a crowd. Good sales going on. Merchandise seemed very limited. No long wait lines.

They sell lovely things especially jewelry

The store had barley nothing on the shelves,I ask a couple of the workers that works there was they going out of business and they said not that they know of. Looks like they keeping their employees clueless, if I was an employee there I would be worried.

Always loved shopping here, but they have less and less merchandise every time I go. Left empty handed.

I miss the Kmart that was located in Somerset, NJ. So I was pleased to see there was another located in NJ. When you walk into the store, you immediately time travel back to 1984. The store has an old feel to it, but Ill be honest, it was just nostalgic enough to make me go back again!😂 The store was not well stocked with what I went in for, but it was Christmas time.Kmart does this bait and switch thing all the time...there will be sale signage on a rack, with a bunch of the same items on it, youll take it to the register, and get a different price...one NOT reflecting a sale. Then the cashier will say someone must have placed this on the wrong rack...Im like, all ten of the items, in different colors!?😂 Classic Kmart! Of course, no one will walk over to see that youre correct, so you just give up and put the item back.😕 No real customer service from Sears or Kmart. If they valued their customers, they could compete better in the Wal-Mart/Amazon dominated world...if nothing else, for the sense of nostalgia...and great clearance sales.

Store was empty of most items, lines were crazy long. I put my stuff down and walked out, they had 1 register open and were taking their time with their customers. Didnt care about the long line. Even another customer spoke up and said I was leaving because they were taking their time

The staff here are wonderful. I was in search of a place to do a bill pay. The choices I had were CVS, 7 eleven, and K Mart. I did not consider 7 eleven but did try to use CVS. One location in Rahway wouldnt even bother to answer the phone. The other in Edison answered the phone and was impatient, rude, and completely of no help at all. K Mart on the other hand was the exact opposite. The woman in customer service answered everyone of my questions on the phone. She was patient, extremely polite and best of all so helpful. I went in the store and the same delightful woman waited on me. If an associate would go out of their way for just a bill pay, I could only imagine what service in the store would be. Huge thumbs up!!!

The cashier was so interested in asking questions, like do I want to donate to st jude, what was my phone #, that she forgot to ring up all my order and I didnt catch this until I was home.

Dont let the pictures fool you...this place is constantly trashed. Every single time Ive gone into this store its an unorganized messed. They basically make the front area neat and organized and once you travel into the belly of the beast, youre bombarded with stuff falling off shelves, empty racks, employees that either dont care or literally dodge you so they dont have to help you, and almost always NO ONE in layaway. Layaway is the ONLY reason I still shop there. The employees look to be about 16 to 20 years old in average and you only ever find one or two on shift that will bother helping you with anything. The selection leaves much to be desired. Their prices range from OMG this is a great deal to you want how much for this old ass item??. Ive been shopping here since I was a child in the early 90s and the place has not changed since then. Kmart is notorious in the retail history scene for being one of the only (somehow) surviving retailers to not have updated their stores since probably the mid to late 80s. Everything is antiquated, dark and depressing. It honestly feels like walking through the the 90s version of the valley of death. Please just kill this company off while you still can.

Kmart is my favorite store. It has reasonable prices and I never have a problem finding what I want. If I do not see it in the store I order it online. The best!!!

Just close this store, it has nothing to sell and they close shop at 5:45pm, not worth going into the store and if you did they have 1 cashier and long lines good luck just go bankrupt and save the customer the hassle

I wish I could give no stars a big zero ...no wonder all the Kmarts are going out of business their customer service sucks and their helpdesk to return things suck if you dont have a receipt and youre not a card rewards member you cant return an item which is ridiculous if the item says Kmart on it has all the stickers and is never been used in his brand new theyre probably going to go out of business like all the other Kmart and they deserve to

Walking into this store is like entering a time machine back to the 1980s. The ceiling is low and claustrophobic. There are mix and match floor tiles everywhere. The aisles are short, making the store a kind of maze to get around. It is poorly stocked and messy. There are not enough signs to indicate prices and promotions. I could only fine one price check scanner in the entire store. The prices on most items are not competitive. You can find better deals elsewhere.

The worst customer service! I placed an order for pick up and when I called for the status, I was told it could be DAYS before my order was processed because they were busy. I then ask if they could just tell me if it’s in stock and I had to speak to 4 different people. And I still don’t know. So I just canceled the order.

Super creepy cashier. Old woman with long gray hair looked like a witch on Halloween. I come across all kinds if people and never judge on appearance but this lady looked like a witch and acted like one too. She stood there and jyst looked at me when I put my things on the counter to check out then checked me out slower than molasses with an attitude. She was nice to the scary looking lady behind me in line maybe it was an ugly secret or something lol Terrible experience and Im not the kind of person to let things bother me. I think she tried to cast a spell lol ugh Kmart is close so I go maybe once ir twice a year just to take a walk and see whats good so thats why I gave 2 stars. None for witch lady Id like to send her back to the Salem witch trials

Put my sons Christmas presents on layaway a lil after thanksgiving I did two layaway that day and for some reason I was given two totally different layaway one holiday one extended I asked for extended. Now apparently my order has been cancelled tried speaking to a manager and was put on hold for 45 min I finally hung up I work two jobs layaway was convient now a week before Christmas I have nothing for him this is the worst customer service I didnt even receive a cancellation email on of the girl shonda who assisted me isnt on the layaway she messed up on but she is the one who assisted me with both transaction and I go do a live chat problem not fixed but was offered five percent off my next web order thanks Kmart guess Ill give my son that for Christmas
