Waterloo Records is great. Ive visited them for years. Theyve re-opened, having closed to walk-ins for a while because of Covid. Theyre providing masks and limiting the number of people inside.Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, as usual.

This place was spectacular!! It’s great to see this type of music on vinyl make a return to the mainstream !!! Waterloo keeps this alive and well!! A must if you live in town and a destination for any music shop fans!! Great staff and awesome selection of music and movies!!

I have literally spent thousands of dollars and hundred of hours within these walls.Huge selections of music, pop culture items, music related books, and movies.Selection varies on older, harder to find items, but, if its a new release, chances are, theyve got it.Support these guys. Its one of the best record stores in the nation.

We totally fell in love upon entry. It took me back to the days of going to the record store as a kid. My daughter asked what a 45 was, I had to chuckle. The selection of music is dynamic! They had everything and everybody! The albums, CDs, videos and accessories along with clothing was just mind blowing.

I absolutely hate this place. Its definitely not cool at all. And staff never bend over backwards to find rare and neat stuff, arent super helpful in selections and good taste, and definitely dont provide awesome customer service. They dont even tell you its not opposite day or sarcasm is still a thing. How rude!

Really cool old school record shop. Good selection of vinyl, CDs & Blu-ray. Keep an eye out for $5 mystery grab bags of CDs or gifty type items. Spent $6 on a gift mystery gift bag and the first thing we got was a $17 kitchen timer (that we needed).

Alright, Alright, Alright. Where to start.. the music selection in both Vinyl, Cds & Cassettes is impressive. I always end up leaving with something because why the heck not? If youre a music junkie definitely swing by! The selection of old & new, indie to even Japanese is stellar. The staff is always helpful and super chill as well.

Local vinyl, video and CD store. Its been here forever... I saw Nirvana play an acoustic set here back in the day. Cobain even smashed his acoustic guitar (backwards) after the set. Buy Local! Love this place.

Overall best selection in Austin. They do not have the character as some record stores and the staff is not as knowledgeable in general. But they have the best Jazz selection in town and probably the biggest selection of any genre. Dont expect as many deep-finds though.

Visited this rad shop! This place is amazing! They have crazy amount of records and CDs I was very surprised. Everything is organized in its place and its pretty easy to find anything you want. The place is pretty big and clean.

My review is a 1 STAR review for the following reason. The pros- top notch selections . Reasonable prices. Some nice rarities and audiophile pressings which I love. Great layout of the store and lots of extras.The con, and its a big one. I made an appointment at the store on 1/26/21 and showed up early. Paid $15 for the honor to shop there. No problem, I was pretty confident that I would leave with some vinyl. As an out of town shopper, which I mentioned, the 30 minute time limit is not enough time to shop in this store. About 25 minutes into my visit with 6 new records in my hand I was informed my time was almost up. I was the ONLY SHOPPER IN THE STORE. Fine I said, but I intent to finish the new records section. At the prompt 30 min mark a different employee informed me it was time to go. I politely informed him I was at the H section (working backwards) and I would make my way as quickly as I could to get done. I was rushed to get done in about 5 minutes. I had over $100 of records in my hand and made a quick run of the store. I WAS THE ONLY SHOPPER IN THE STORE. I realize the employees are just sheep here but how RUDE and stupid is it that I am trying to support a brick and mortar independent record store, have a stack of records in my hand and am being asked to leave. No one else in the store, 4 oclock in the afternoon, no one outside waiting to get in. It is my understanding that this is against the common business of goods for money. Paying the idiots salary that told me to leave. I would have purchased so much more if they had allowed me to. I get what they are trying to accomplish with covid and all but use some common sense for the good of your own economy! EVERY RECORD I PURCHASED COULD HAVE BEEN BOUGHT ON AMAZON WITH FREE SHIPPING.

I love digging through the newly arrived used crates and for those random vinyl gems. Their new selection is always packed with good stuff, I have hard time narrowing down what I walk out with. Always leave satisfied.

Well organized for entering facility, personal at door checking for face masks & provides one if you dont have one in hand.

They dont carry anything and if they do they cant find it.They literally cannot find their own inventory.I cant tell you how many countless times Ive been in there, they tell me they have something in stock, go out on the floor and come back empty-handed.they have no idea where their inventory is.Incredibly frustrating

Decided this would be the first record store i ever set foot in & im so glad i did! very friendly staff that greets you & offers assistance. i picked up a record without a price tag and the gentleman that was working had no issue helping me find the original price & assuring me there should’ve been a price tag on it. no biggie at all- i know it’s easy to skip over one album out of the thousands they carry. the lady that checked us out was also very kind. comfortable, laidback environment. very organized and easy to navigate.i only had time to browse but i’ll make a point to stop by everytime i’m in the city ;) out of the two record stores we stopped by, this one is our favorite!

This is the Most epic record store in America. In my 20 years in Austin Ive seen. Jimmi Cliff, Iggy Pop, to name a couple, recently 13th floor elevators tribute representing our Father of Austin live music Roky Erickson and in my opinion the Father and King of Psychedelic Rock. These Musical geniuses set the standard for generations. So slip inside this house, it starts like a Rollercoaster so real it take your breath away, add a little reverberation. Waterloo the original name for Austin. We must have the Waterloo sunset to keep our heartbeats a beating, thats why music has a heartbeat too. Peace, love and Waterloo records forever. Waterloo is accessible still, a feat in downtown Austin. Love to see the vinyl and variety. Waterloo folks are kind and helpful, always a pleasure to visit.

Waterloo is one of two records stores in the city that actually offer a variety and not just Jazz and Classic Rock.I’ve gone through at least two rewards cards and working on the 3rd.

We didnt find what we were looking for, but they do have a lot. Records, CDs, cassettes, and even DVDs. The store had a weird smell and is easily crowded

Happening upon a large independent record store, with sections dedicated to local music, was a bit like entering a time machine. In the age of Spotify, my girlfriend and I had long forgotten about the experience of standing at an album display, putting on a pair of headphones and pressing play amongst a flock of fellow music lovers, and then heading to the checkout with a new CD in hand. There’s also a wild collection of movies, toys, clothing and merchandise, so it’s a great stop in for gifts and a must see if you find yourself in Austin.

This place is fantastic. Went their on my birthday. There are not enough words to describe Waterloo. Shopping and looking around would take several weeks or more. The staff is so helpful. CDS, movies, albums and players. Posters, novelty items and that is just a few to mention a few. Even found a mood ring. Drove quite a distance just to buy things. Well worth it. The prices are great too.

Always an awesome experience everytime I go in Waterloo. I have found some rare (hard to find) vinyls especially in the Used section. Also, I can rely on them with finding indie artists and local ones too. Definitely go there for their happy hour vinyl Tuesday!

You have to have public restrooms for your customers . Im never gonna go back to your store for anything .Im a huge fan of records and such , buy if you cant provide restrooms Im not gonna spend my money at your store

This is a really cool store. Not only is there a first class selection of music there are books, t-shirts, record players and a host of items perfect for the music lover. I also had the pleasure of seeing an acoustic performance from Margo Price while in store. This is a definite 5 stars.

Great selection of records and local! My big downside is that I wanted to drop by and grab a record, but theyre closed to the public and by appointment only. (This is not communicated well at all). Appointments can be made up to a week out and are 30 minute slots. This is annoying because my shop would take less than 2 min, but I would effectively block someone out of shopping for the remaining 28 min. Other shops seem to be doing fine with limited entry. I ended up just ordering the record from another store because of this. They have curbside pickup 11-7, but sometimes you just want to explore the music!
