I love the easy walk up experience at this coffee stop. Located within The Carpenter Hotel, but with its own separate entrance. Since, it’s on a quiet street near Lamar Blvd., popping in is super easy. As long as there are tacos - we are good πŸ‘πŸΌ and they have a good selection, also their salsa is delicious! They also sell merchandise fromThe hotel. During β€œnormal times” the couch seating and record player was a nice option.

Nice little spot inside Carpenter Hall. I loved the drinks (Ladybird was tasty with a hint of orange) and the atmosphere (vaguely West Coast).

Such a lovely coffee shop attached to the new Carpenter Hotel. Ambiance couldnt be better for a cozy cup of joe on a cloudy day - very well-chosen mid-century furniture and textures. Quality pastries. Excellent brewed coffee. Superb music - really so good.

Great location and friendly service! The lattes were a little too milky for my taste but not bad overall. Most places downtown pull really long espresso shots, so maybe I just got used to that. Hot Ls kolaches were delicious tho! Incredibly comfortable seating area with a ton of sun which is a refreshing change from most coffee shops. Also, its Hot L, not Hotel.

Covid policies in place: masks required, three outdoor picnic tables for seating (inside closed), plexiglass, etc. Still have a decent menu for coffee, breakfast and group meals.

Nice little coffee shop. The coffee is a little weak for my taste and its more expensive than other places nearby, but the atmosphere is very unique and cozy.

We really enjoy the coffee and tacos and come here at least once a week. For being super easy going customers, the customer service is really hit or miss. We were told they get orders of tacos until 3 and arrived at 11amβ€”when questioning the woman at the front with short dark hair and colored streaks, she seemed extremely irritated with the fact we were even there in the first place. I asked if they were getting more tacos and she sighed with annoyance and said probably not (?). Took my order not acknowledging me, even after I tipped 20%. Didn’t say thank you or have a good day. Just a bummer and as someone who never writes bad reviews I hope this is telling.

What a gem in rough!! Great place to meet up with friends and have drink or coffee. The food is good too. I had the miga scramble and heart shape waffles. The miga scramble was good but little too salty for me. Really enjoyed the waffles! Parking is limited. There is parking by softball field if needed. If you are coming off the trail, great location to stop.

Hot el (Hot L) Coffee. This is a great coffee shop in the Carpenter hotel. The place is nice and clean with a cool look. Theres an area to sit indoors and you can also sit outdoors. The coffee is great and the pastries are delicious. We ordered the olive oil muffin and it was so good! I highly recommend it and could eat this every day. The staff was friendly.

They don’t make the egg tarts anymore 😭 but the olive oil muffin was delicious as well as the lady bird latte. Came just before noon and I got the last remaining food item.

The atmosphere here is so chill and well thought out. It’s by the entrance of the hotel but you can easily just get coffee. We got a cold brew and chai, they were both really good. The iced chai didn’t taste like the boxed chai which I always appreciate. Great service and would definitely stay for the setting.

I never knew the name of this place until I went to review it, always called it Carpenter coffee. Its hilarious that its called Hot L Coffee because its exactly what they dont serve! Ive been here about 5 times now and their lattes are always just above room temperature. They should put a microwave next to the milk and sugar. Its nicely designed and located in a place that needed a coffee shop. Serve me one hot cup and Ill up my rating!

Dont sleep on this gem thats tucked away close to zilker park. Hot L is adorned with comfortable couches for lounging and getting work done, and has an interesting selection of both specialty drinks and treats. I tried the cortado with oat milk (nearly $5 which was pretty expensive for a caffeinated beverage of that size, but still good). I noticed a vegan cookie on the list of items being sold so will definitely use that as an excuse to be back. My friend and I enjoyed their picnic tables off to the side of the cafe and loved how versatile this place was (indoor coziness vs. more upbeat feel outdoors). I will be back!
