I wanted copies made of a couple of very old family photos. One was taken in the 40s. I was afraid that it being so old and a small photo that making an 8x10 would distort it. They did a fabulous job!! The other one was taken in the 1850s. The quality was pretty bad. I was shocked at how good the copy turned out!! These people are terrific at what they do. I was overjoyed with the finished product. 10 STARS........

My review is for the Photo Processing staff.I had a large print (30x40) worked on by Austin and Niles. Austin was extremely helpful understanding the technical aspects of my image as well as the mood I was setting with my photograph of an abandoned incinerator plant in Albania. Most of my interaction was with Niles.Niles was professional and friendly and great to deal with. The support given to me by Austin and Niles was of great help and made my customer experience five stars. Thank you.

According to their website they offer repairs. I drove 30 minutes from my house only to be told they’d charge me $40 to ship my camera off to Sony without knowing the cost of repairs.2 stars for the sweet girl at the front counter.

I have been in some fine photography stores, but this was in the seventies. It is rare to find a genuine store that follows a service model of doing business. I bought a used Nikon D750 at this store. However, recently, I bought a rather expensive variable ND filter. Like a buffoon, I unscrewed a knob not meant for unscrewing. It fell apart. Luckily, the engaging staff at this store exchanged the lens filter without batting an eye. If Id bought this from an online store or a volume-designed Box Store, chances are they would have asked for an extended warranty. If you want service, friendly staff, and an incredible collection of photographic equipment, this is one of the best in Texas.

As a professional photographer I cant say enough about how awesome this place is. If you are interested in photography even as a hobby or beginner you should definitely go here rather than some big box store or online. They have the best gear and great selection and stand behind their gear. They have the best prices and price match also. You try out the cameras and lenses in the store and see if you like it, or if you want to give it a really good test rent what you are thinking of buying and make sure its really what you want. Ive been shopping with them for over 10 years since I moved here and I wont go anywhere else

Never risk your family movies to their shop for transfer. As my daughters wedding approaches this Saturday and I don’t have her childhood movies to show due to negligence on the part of Precision’s employees, I remain heartbroken, mine were lost/destroyed. No apology. Just denial. I am so sad about it. Now to prepare for my sons wedding. No childhood movie to share. Precision should reach out???!!!If I prevent one family from losing their memories this is worth it.

This is an amazing and well equipped Camera store. I have been in the photography industry for well over 25 years as both a store manager and later as a Field Service Tech for Noritsu America and it is so nice to see a store such as this still open. The store is well laid out, clean, welcoming and staff is extremely friendly. Glad I was able to stop in while in the area. I will be back.

If you’re trying to get film developed here good luck! They quoted me for a week, it has been more than a week now & still no digitals of my film nor the prints. Called them and the girl I spoke with said “idk why they quoted you for a week it usually take 2-3 weeks”. Paid $80 to get them developed and my scans for 2-3 weeks?! Nah. They were not hesitant to give me my refund but if you want your film at a certain time I do NOT recommend going here and overpaying for their services.

Jack is very knowledgeable and friendly. All you need to do is pick up your phone, dial up Precision Cameras number, and talk to an associate to find what you need. They had an obscure item I was looking for at a good price, and thankfully I didnt have to resort to ordering it online.My one knock is it doesnt appear the different locations have access to the same inventory system, so call the other store if the first one doesnt have it.

I appreciate the help immensely of Joey in the photo lab. Joey made sure my special order retirement gift print would be done and ready in the time needed, and took extra care in making sure all of my account information was correct. I purchased a used Nikon 35mm F1.8 lens (EX) from Precision and in my opinion, it exceeded the EX grade. It was more EX+. I could not find a mark on it and the glass is crystal clear. The photos were sharp and the auto focus works great.To top it off, I got next day delivery.Great service. Thank you all...

I have been a customer of Precision Camera for almost 40 years. I have rarely been disappointed with any of the staff, their knowledge and/or willingness to help you. Only once was I upset with an individual who tried to persuade me that I didnt want to buy what I came in for. I wrote the manager, who apologized and put me in touch with Tamra. She is wonderful! She will ask you what you want to shoot, or type of photography you are interested in, offer a range of possibilities and provide pros and cons of those choices. I understand she works between both of the stores. Id encourage anyone to ask for her help with camera equipment. Its a wonderful store with many great employees. One year I wanted to do some night photography and didnt know what lens to buy, couldnt afford what I thought I needed. She searched around and found a the perfect used lens that I have loved using for stars photography since.

Tamra Green in particular has become my go to expert for advice and purchases. She is extremely knowledgeable and always helpful. I love the precision team! I am a local wedding photographer and I’m constantly running in to the North location to stock up on last minute gear, film, etc. their repair counter is also fantastic for camera gear maintenance - I couldn’t do my job without them.

I moved to Austin 10 years ago and think I discovered my photography pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when I found Precision Camera. It is absolutely the best photography store I have had the pleasure to work with. The leprechaun that mans the pot of gold for me is Tamra Green, without a doubt, one of the best customer service reps I have worked with. She knows, me, knows what I shoot and what gear I need. She has gone out of her way to convince me that I needed a new lens or camera just before a major trip and made sure I had it. And she has always been right. Her advice is outstanding. The other standout is Robert Backman who has helped me out frequently as well. He knows my system (Olympus) and shoots professionally with it himself. His advice is impeccable. You cant go wrong with either one of them working with you. Ive gotten fair prices for my trade-ins. I wont buy anywhere else.

Awesome post sale phone customer services. I purchased a used DSLR Kit from them, I was surprised to find the condition of the camera Central Camera in Chicago would rate it as Close to Mint. Minus the body cap, the neck strap and the manual this is a prestige body and lenses. Lenses had no UV protective filter but not needed. Lenses clean and sharp. I trust their inventory that I ordered a second item from them. I am sure it will be as accurate and awesome as my first purchase. I visited precision camera as a beginner photographer, with no clue where to start. Richard was incredibly patient and helpful. He took his time and went out of his way to find just the right camera for me.

I have been a customer of Precision Camera from back when they were over on Lamar where Kendra Scott is now. I have spent more with Precision than I did on my Lexus SUV. My recent visit to Precision on Anderson will prove to be my absolute last. I live 80 miles from Precision. I bought two lens on line and went in to pick them up while in town on business. I looked at the two lens and questioned Jackson about one of them. I told him I did not think this was the right lens. He let me know I was wrong and that it was the right lens. (This one was a used lens). I drove home, took the lens out and second guessed it again. I emailed the store, Jackson responded with you are right, it was labeled wrong. I emailed him back to say I need to bring it back, exchange it and get the right one. No response. I emailed him every day for over a week. No response. Finally, I called the store. He could not talk to me so I asked for the manager. Mark was busy too so I left a voice mail explaining the situation. I followed up with an email and copies of the emails I sent to Jackson. Three days later, no response. No returned phone call, no return email. NOTHING. I have the initial email from Jackson clearly stating he was wrong. He said it was the fault of the used staff and that was it. We are talking about a $2300 lens here. I bought a Nikon 85MM and 70-200 MM that day. It was clear to me that I was not going to get any help from these people so I called the South location because I had appointments coming up and needed my lens. They bent over backwards to help me and they had the problem solved in a day. They were friendly, they were helpful and they apologized for the unprofessional behavior of the other store. I treated the employees to an assortment of Nothing Bundt Cakes tray just for being nice and helpful. Apparently these things happen often. I still had to drive back to Austin to take the wrong lens back and pick up the new one. I would have at least expected a complimentary shipping label from Precision for me to send the incorrect one back and them ship me the correct one. If you are going to purchase from Precision I highly recommend that you go to the South location. Stay away from the North location. The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I will not purchase from Precision ever again. I have a lot left to buy. People in my area ask me all the time where to go to buy their gear. I will be telling them this story. Had Precision reached out to me on this, I would have never posted this. They get away with treating people poorly all the time and it wont stop until they are called out on it.

Tamra Green is an awesome sales rep at Precision-Camera and Videos South Store. She asks questions to understand what you are trying to accomplish. She gently probes to see if you considered other perspectives. This worked great because last Saturday my new Nikon Z7II arrived and it was everything I expected. No surprises! Combined with the FTX Adapter I continue to use my investment in lenses. A 85/1.8 S lens completes the package. Tamra made several recommendations along the month long journey. Truly a pleasure to have a sales rep work with you and not push stuff at you. Bought many cameras, lenses, accessories here over 20 years. Prices are competitive with anything on the internet. Service is outstanding and very knowledgeable. You get to see and feel the equipment. Using a real store has saved me from buying cameras I thought I’d like, but didn’t work for me. And the few times I made a mistake with a purchase, returns were easy. Their expertise has saved me money & fixed my technical problems. Highly recommend!

In terms of film processing, I could find similar equipment at a local CVS. Card lead C-41 processing is hardly worth the price, particularly when you include the amount of time your film spends sitting collecting dust.While the film processing portion of the business is neglected, the product portion of the business is exploited. All products available at Precision can be bought cheaper online. Sales staff working on commission drives up prices.

Super knowledgeable group of photographers staff this large camera focus store. There is an in house repair center which is great for keeping your gear intact. There is a very large selection of lenses for sale, and a surprisingly God used lens section as well. There are many cajera bag options for sale which is perfect for sizing a bag or brand. They dont just offer cameras here, they offer quality.

One of the best camera and video stores in Texas. They have a great selection of tripods and lights. Lots of different light modifiers. I want there for a bag, but their bag selection looked good, as well.

PCV reps helped me on two recent occasions in purchasing a Nikon 200-500 lens and a Nikon Speedlight SB-910 flash unit. Both reps were very knowledgeable and answered all my questions, and allowed me ample test shots, indoors and outdoors, so I could be satisfied that would be happy with my purchases.

Took in a warranty repair camera and lens two weeks ago and it is still sitting at the store - never been shipped out. But they are happy to charge me $100 a day to rent one. I use this for my business every day why would they not send it out? I called to speak to a manager but they “ all went home early” according to the person who answered the phone.

Shhhhh. Dont tell my husband I bought him a beautiful Nikon camera for his birthday with a few accessories. Were celebrating Sunday with daughter and grandsons. Brian was so very helpful. Well be back to add other items Im sure.

The service that both Colby and Kristin provided with an online purchase was absolutely fantastic. I wanted to update the camera that my wife was currently using from many years ago and they gave me some great options, let me know which would be a similar experience but with more modern technologies (wifi, what!!!) and some key benefits of each one. I did shop the price against others and they were right in the ball park but the service is what put them over the top. The communication was another key point as after I placed my order, they let me know the whole time when to expect the new camera and what day it shipped out. As a newbie photographer/filmmaker, I have to say that these people are fantastic! I went to the North Location on Anderson Ln, and went to pick up some iPhone accessories. While there, I also asked about potential cameras, and the salesman, Richard Thomas, gave a quick but thorough recommendation on one for me after describing my intentions. I wasnt ready to make that purchase at the time, so I went home, did my research on it, realized he was spot on, and a month later, called to place an order for it.Richard was on leave, but one of the managers, Tamra Green helped me instead. WOW, she is fantastic! I went to pick up the camera and needed a few additional accessories. Based on the camera we chose, and the height of both my husband and I, she recommended a different tripod than the one I was looking at. I never even CONSIDERED my height as a potential issue!Tamra was incredibly thoughtful, and considerate of offering accessories suitable for a newbie. Stuff that will not break the bank, good enough to get started, but not so much that it will be a complete waste if this new hobby does not turn out the way I hope!Had I purchased just the camera online, and not gone into the store in person, I think I would ultimately be much less satisfied. I have recently spent a small fortune on camera equipment for my retirement and small business ventures. The folks at Precision Camera were extremely helpful in showing me my options. I spoke with about four different sales persons at both stores over the course of two weeks and ordered online with great results.

I love Precision Camera - knowledgeable, helpful salespeople, repair folks and a great inventory of supplies. They provide classes, events, and all kinds of information to keep you up-to-date on my obsession with photography. Just moved to Maryland and still keeping in touch with Precision Camera.

Dropped off my first 35mm film to be developed and precision camera did the most incredible job with color grading. pics came in on time through a drop box link and i found the whole experience so lovely. the employees who helped me out at the counter were really kind and explained the different options available.going back this week to get more pics developed!!edit: just got my second batch of pics from a road trip and they turned out fantastic! great service at the photo desk too :)

I have been buying from Precision Camera for years, both new and used equipment, and they have been very helpful and encouraging to me in progressing with my photography hobby. Classes are excellent as well, and I bow to the expertise of Ian and Tamra. I forget my Lightroom instructor, but I learned more in that class than I imagined I would, including how to approach sorting, choosing, editing, etc. Precision Camera is a really helpful group of people with excellent products and prices. If you havent experienced it, give them a try before ordering from some faceless online store.

Precision also has a great selection of used equipment that is well-priced for those on a budget. Tamra (my sales professional) has helped me make good decisions about purchases that will support the direction of my business. And, there are no worries about having an expensive camera or lens stolen off of your porch--pick out what you want at Precision, try it and buy it. I recommend Precision highly for the variety and quality of their cameras and accessories, and the wonderful staff.

Great store and will continue to shop there but they should be a bit more tactful with taking temperatures. No heads up other then a Merry Christmas and someone immediately shoving a thermometer in your face without warning. I am sure I missed the fine print on the door posting but jeez...

They have had almost everything I have ever needed for my cameras here. There have been a few times where I was let down, but for most general purposes if you needed it they probably got it. The service is fantastic, and there is also a student discount if you have your student ID with you. Prices can be a little bit high sometimes.

More for photographers than video folks. They have a great selection but could definitely use more video gear! They often dont know what Im asking about so they could also use a professional video person in there or two.

Went to drop off for a repair. I was spoken to very rudely. I approached kindly. The staff member was very condescending to me making me feel as though I did not know what I was talking about. I am not new to photography.I have never had an issue with any staff member until today.

Such a pleasure to go to any photo store in 2021, but this place was a truly WOW experience from what I expected. Service, selection, top notch. Really impressive.

I visit often not just for the gear but for the quality customer service from Jack! First time coming in and he was one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met! Always a pleasure being a customer with the help of him!

I was looking to restore a photo of my partner and his mom who has since passed for Valentines day and emailed the photo lab from the email on the website for more details, but unfortunately received no response back. I called and left a message for the photo lab because no one was available to take my call, but received no call back. I am pregnant and trying to avoid physically visiting any places due to COVID risks, but since I wasnt able to get a hold of anyone, I had to go in. I spoke with someone at the photo lab about what I wanted, color restoration, removal of scratches, and the removal of some cut-off hands. I wasnt given any information, everything I discussed, I had to ask for. She told me the price, had me send my photo, and pay. I had to even walk back to get an ETA which she said would be 2 weeks which was only a few days after Valentines day which was fine. She did not provide any documentation or even a receipt to me. Two weeks later, I received an email and a phone call stating that they either lost or did not have my original photo and asked me to email it to them, which I immediately did. I received no confirmation that it was received or anything at all. I called and again left a message for the photo lab that was not returned along with an email that was also not returned. I ended up emailing the manager of the photo lab and again did not receive any response. I forwarded that email again, this time attaching the store manager and finally received a response from the photo lab manager (not store manager). I received the photo back without the color correction, and sent another email stating that I had requested this when I paid, and was basically told that I didnt pay enough for that part of the service, even though I was told that was what I was receiving. We emailed a few times back and forth with several days between emails, often me sending another email before I got a response, all including the store manager, with no resolution. The last email that I received a response from was one week ago which I have sent 3 follow-up emails, left several messages with the photo lab, and a message with the store manager. I have not physically gone into the location because every time I call I am told that neither the store manager or photo lab manager is in and they do not know when they will be in the store. This has been over a month at this point and my experience from start-to-finish has been pretty bad. I would not recommend this store for this service to anyone.

Precision Camera is my go to for anything gear, film or print related. I am a professional film photographer and I have been shopping her for over 3 years now. The customer service is fantastic! I will even sometimes bring in my gear if I have a question and their staff immediately helps me out. I have also even paid for a one on one class with an instructor on low lighting and he was EXCELLENT! My people are Robert in sales and Noah in print lab and they are brilliant at their craft and always helping me out with any questions I have. This place has it all you guys and the price is right!

The young woman at the photo lab was amazing. She was not only kind but she explained the film developing process and walked me through the best and fastest way to develop my photos. The gentleman there was not so great. But the prints, although old, came out great. I appreciated the effort that was put into giving me a quality product. I will definitely be returning in the future!

Personal knowledgeable help I’d not been able to find elsewhere: After mostly given up photography because I’d been having trouble focusing, I went in to talk to someone about renting a camera for a trip-I’d try it one last time. I spoke with Robert, who is super knowledgeable, patiently listened to the issues I was having and suggested trying a different brand with an EVF that might be helpful. He also steered me towards a free loaner program instead of the rental. I can go into my *local camera store* and get help, and take classes. I rarely write reviews but I believe in supporting local.

Photography equipment is one of the things that you really need to be able to hold in your hands, try, get a feel for, before you buy. Precision Camera has a great inventory, friendly and helpful staff, and prices that usually match the online price. I seem to be traveling there from Dallas at least once a year for something that they have in stock that I cant find closer to home.And their classes are excellent, not just for the beginner but they also have classes and opportunities led by well known photographers for the more advanced people in your favorite niche. Ive gotten some great photos of raptors and flowers from a couple classes they set up.Go visit Precision Camera!

I spent $750 there just to be made to feel like I was an intruder because I don’t wear a mask... I suppose they can start paying people to stand around because I’m returning the equipment and getting every dollar of mine back and will never spend it there again... imagine starting a business and then good paying customers return expensive equipment all because your staff can’t keep their mouths closed... I’m sure the owner loves it when that happens.

After driving to Precision Camera from Lago Vista twice because PC decided to shut down and not change their VM from “Come on in. We’re open!!” to letting customers know they would shut the store down early, my wife and I were REFUSED service because of her inability (not refusal) to wear a mask due to recent cardiac surgery. We were made to wait on the sidewalk like stray cats until she couldn’t stand anymore and went to sit in the car. The employees who came to assist us were polite and professional but the manager who was to serve us refused to come outside. After waiting 45 minutes and six times being assured he was coming, we called and were told by the rude girl at the front desk that no manager was on duty. I know when I’m getting the run around so, we left and requested the store manager (Greg Berger) contact us. He could not have cared less how we were treated. “it’s our policy.....”. He also said, “I had employees refuse to come to work if customers were permitted to shop without masks.” Well, you know what Greg, like I told you on the phone, you allowed your employees and your dismissive attitude to run off a 15 year customer of Precision Camera. Be careful who you step on, Greg I try and try and try to give my business to local stores and they just won’t have it. THIS is why people shop online and I will be doing so going forward.

This place is awesome. I bought a camera there. I am a beginner and helped me select a camera. They are knowledgeable, professional, and resourceful. They have new a service that allows you to do FaceTime and talk to a staff member. I called and tried the service and spoke to Shannen and she help me with my camera and answered all my questions. She was so helpful!

I have been a Precision Camera customer off and on for almost 20 years. They have always been extremely knowledgeable, highly professional, conveniently located, well stocked, and competitive in pricing. Their classes and special events are first-rate too. I find the extensive expertise of their courteous staff to be especially helpful. I wouldnt shop anywere else.

Sales rep was knowledgeable and customer focused. Creatively solved my problem.

Do not waste your money on their custom photo processing. You will get a machine print where they have adjusted the overall brightness or contrast ( often in the wrong direction) but nothing more. No shading or image enhancement or anything beyond what you can do yourself at any Walgreens or CVS pharmacy a lot faster, cheaper, and quicker. It is frustrating because you explain carefully what effect you are trying to achieve and the clerk indicates they can do it no problem. After receiving the prints back the first time, the results were poor and they agreed to redo them the second time. 5 of those 6 prints were worse than the first set. To compound the problem, the prints were not ready after being notified that they were ready. Net result was we paid $60, had to make 4 trips, 3 conferences and got 1 useful print. Skip the aggravation and go somewhere else

Staff always leaving earlier than posted service hours or just plain off. Store should have other employees trained and ready to go if the store is open. Id rather take my business elsewhere than try to memorize each employees schedule for offered services. This has now happened 3 times for 3 different matters. Done

This is seriously the best customer service I’ve had in a long time. The employees will give honest advice and will give you informed explanations for almost any questions you have for them. My most recent interactions with Robert B and Valerie M were just fantastic, went the extra mile and are a credit to the business. Yes I want to support local businesses but these guys truly deserve our business.

Showed up to get old negatives looked and get options. First guy said to push the button for help. I was passed 3 times before initial guy assisted me (Adan I believe was his name). Very helpful and apologetic.He even told other coworker that I was here first.Waiting to see results of my new 5 x 7 and poster and will follow up with a new rating.Manny

If youre into photography and you live in Austin you probably already know Precision Camera. This place has everything you need with a staff that is knowledgeable and friendly. They offer everything from sales, rentals, knowledge, and when the world isnt under quarantine, classes. And it isnt just still photos, they have video cameras, lighting, lenses, printers, film, and probably more that I didnt see in the couple times Ive been there. A fantastic pillar for the photography community.

Precision camera is a local treasure for me and many others like myself in this online age. Before going to the first time, I would see ads and thought it might be a small shop with a few things in it and a repair/rental department. To my surprise, when I walked into the store, I was absolutely blown away at the size and took noticed that the inventory was just about everything I had been researching on the Internet but it was right there where I could see and touch it and buy immediately instead of calculating possible shipping times versus when I might need it. The only downside for me was that it was a long drive from South Austin to their location up north. This was remedied not long after by the addition of a South location that they just so happens to place one minute from my house. Evil I know. If there is anything I need that is not at this location by my house I just let them know and they bring it over right away. All the stars. Additionally, the staff are great and there are many things about this business that holds true to the old school principles that make local businesses strong but seem to be fading away in modern times. All the stars.

I had an awful experience here. no one greeted me when I walked in. No employees said anything to me or offered help when I was looking around the store. All I needed was a 3 pack of film and it took me about 30 minutes to get in and out when it should’ve taken 5. Customer service is the worst; there are so many employees around the store yet no one helps. Definitely will not come back here.
